TS Surely you don't need that bit spelling out for you? ROFL

Buckets How on earth are you still managing to be enthusiastic about sex? My head is definitely keen but my body is just not interested at the moment. Dh is getting the snip once we know ds2 is ok - he is very nervous about it but has agreed to do it (I think he thinks I might have no 4 otherwise!)

albs good luck!

dizzy I hope your mum slips away peacefully like my dad's wife did. She was terrified of suffocating to death/of knowing what was happening and not being to get help etc in the end it was in her sleep. I hope things get easier for you.

God I am knackered (sorry for blaspheming CC if that counts) Can't stand this humidity.

Buckets LOL at the idea of an alternative to prostaglandin pessaries. Maybe the male doctors should offer - after all it would save the NHS money and cheer up the doctors?

PetitFilou1 · 23/07/2008 18:23

Ilana Forgot to say glad things are improving if slow. You really should try and get a debrief with a midwife. You are obviously a v nice person, thinking of others having csections at a time like this!

Buckets · 23/07/2008 18:27

PF LOL It's just another pg symptom for me, all this sex-on-the-brain - only 2wks left though and fuggeddabaatit! DH also going on list for snip this year, also nervous but has accepted how ridiculously fertile we are. They can be snip buddies!

miamla · 23/07/2008 18:48

arrgghhhh rant time, feel free to ignore me!

you know what, i typed it, read it, deleted it so you really can ignore me without any effort!

right, back to nipple twiddling.... as for semen being more effective through the stomach DEFINITELY written by a man!

preg1 you're a silly sausage but we've all been there. hope DH spoils you rotten tonight

AnnVan · 23/07/2008 18:51

Aaaaaa! just been looking at slings on the internet, and now Im hopelessly confused. The only hting I know is that i don't want a hard carrier. I want something more verstile than that. But I knew that before I started looking!! Is almost as bad as researching cloth nappies. Help anyone??

AnnVan · 23/07/2008 18:52

PF - with you in terms of the head being keen but the body not at all!

MrsMagooo · 23/07/2008 18:59

AnnVan These are expensive but fab - not sure if that's what you're looking for??

CaptainCaveman · 23/07/2008 19:00

ewwwwwww to stomach absorbing prostaglandin easier - bleugh. That is one method of bringing on labour which I would gladly skip over.

pf no worries about the blaspheming - I'm not a pulpit thumping type Christian, more a happy to help sort (heaven forbid that such a Christian exists who isn't happy to help )

CaptainCaveman · 23/07/2008 19:02

Isn't bealcain the resident thread sling expert?

Oh my word - this time in 2 weeks I'll have a baby in my arms!!!

Yorky · 23/07/2008 19:04

Sorry to butt in - AnnVan I saw your comment about slings and am in the same place myself. There is a sling show on in London this Sunday 27th? Its also worth googling sling meet as there may be one near you which lends slings to try for a dcouple of weeks, at leasst get some first hand experience from other baby wearers.
HTH, and good luck

Buckets · 23/07/2008 19:09

Annvan Once you know what sling-style you want, have a look at the Buy&Sell boards on different parenting sites (can email you some links if you like, bit rude to post them here LOL.) I got an immaculate 2nd hand one of these half price.

bealcain · 23/07/2008 19:20

Annvan i sell slings and hire them out, so if you need some help just ask! if you go to handinhandbreastfeeding dot co dot uk and contact me through there i'd be happy to offer any advice i can.

Buckets you can now request to be induced through an oral tablet, contractions are said to start on average after about 30mins

I'm using evening primrose to help my cervix become favourable! got appot. with cons tomorrow and shi**ing myself that he wont give me what i want. going alone as dh having kids....really scared!

PF you just need to put a comma after God and then you're addressing him as a person!

PetitFilou1 · 23/07/2008 19:23

CC I wish I had a faith like you do - surprising really considering my Grandpa was once a bishop but my dad rebelled against the whole thing and we weren't even christened anyway - religion and politics - best to avoid!

buckets Trouble with my dh is that his surgeon friend has told him about all the snips that go wrong, have complications etc etc Make sure he doesn't google it! Strangely another Dr friend has had it done - all has been fine - and that seems to have persuaded dh that all will be ok. Whatever!

All you nipple twiddlers - you are mad. You are supposed to do it for so long and so often for it to work, you'd be doing nothing else!

OP posts:
Buckets · 23/07/2008 19:29

Ooh and how are people doing with the raspberry leaf tea? That's supposed to stimulate contractions isn't it?

MrsMagooo · 23/07/2008 19:34

PF Apparently you have to do it for 15 minutes on each nipple (one after the other I think) every hour for about 3 hours

Belcain do you know any more about the oral tablet?? When the MW booked my induction she said it's all changed since I had DD (I was 3cms dilated & they said all they would do was break my waters if labour didn't start within the week - I went into labour that day) & they now only induce with a pessery (sp) - please let Little Man come out before that!!

MrsMagooo · 23/07/2008 19:36

Buckets I'm on the RLT tablets - been taking 3 day since 35 weeks (normally wouldn't have started til 37 but as Little Man tried to come out at 33 thought I'd get prepared & MW said it was fine)

According to what I've read & been told it doesn't do anything re contractions - it's just supposed to 'tone' the uterus & help with the 2nd stage.

bealcain · 23/07/2008 19:47

i have same info as mrsmoagoo it's for uterine toning, meant to help BH's but not actually give them

I only know what i've watched on portland babies, re: oral tablet and that it's just another form of the prostiglandins....try googling it

Sazzles Oooooo ouch at DD going down the slide nude - kiddies eh [rolling eyes smily]

Fab that consultant has written that in your notes - always good to have it down in black & white

Belcain shall go google it now - my induction isn't booked til the 17th when I'll be 42+1 so with any luck he will have popped out by then but the thought of a pessery is freaking me out a tad!

ChaCha · 23/07/2008 20:09

Am sooooo not playing! Lost a whole post in cyber space....grrrrr!!!!

Sazzles - Sounds like a good afternoon. We are planning BBQ, paddling pool and lazy afternoon tomorrow but i've been invited to a friend's leaving party - they are off for a year as part of his studies and as much as i'd like to go don't know if i will cope with bus to city centre, DC and heat - am sure i will be excused.

Bealcain - I'm really sorry, you gave me advice before but now that sling topic has prompted me to remember I really need to know which one to get. I don't want a big material number because i am no good with all that, i just want something v.practical that baby can be in while i get on with the other DC.

DC fell asleep watching DVD and eating supper, heat must be getting to them too.

CC - Snap with the ankles, not a pretty sight. Well my MIL a practising Christian does a lot of charitable work in the village, FIl sings/plays guitar in the chapel and from what i see they are genuinely helpful and caring when it comes to others. The SIL drives trucks to Croatia once they've collected all the goods and distributes them along with a team, something i'd love to do minus DC. Anyway...waffle, waffle.

Sorry me again, bealcain, I can't get your handinhand address to open, what am I doing wrong?

ataraxis · 23/07/2008 20:31

Yep, fab weather... last trip to London tomorrow , , . Reckon it will be cabs all the way (although Paddingto to Victoria at 9am may not be ideal in a cab...

DH told FIL that head was engaged this am. Within 3 mins (no exaggeration) MIL was on the phone. Completely when she asked whether I was organised and I said nope, we have nothing.... .

However, today I bought some newborn nappies, DB (he is (d) again at the mo, ordered the cot I sent him a link for within 5 mins of my email!! (most unusual) and DH is determined to have nearly all the upstairs completed within the week. Well, this babe certainly knows how to get things moving for other people, think she will do the same for me/her/us?!

ataraxis · 23/07/2008 20:34

BTW, sazzles, glad things have been formalised iro your birth plan.
