i'm such a bad mum! Have given up on the weeks TV ban - I just can't do it and it is mainly because I have got to get this work done before I can even think of anything else!

Have drained the last of the Gin though so will pop to the shopfor another bottle whilst they are settled in front of the Night Garden - might as well go the whole hog and become a dredful mum rather than just a bad one!

cyteen · 29/07/2008 13:38

Go miamla! How exciting, there could be an Aug 08 baby being born right now!

Ah gigglegirl with your talk of manicured lawns and sun loungers you have instantly transported me to Pregnatopia, where the drinks are chilled, the waiters are hot and someone is always on hand to give you a foot massage or fan you with a palm leaf

Sazzles yes, the RLT is actually quite nice - generally I don't mind fruit teas (legacy of a yoghurt-weaving childhood) so am quite happy to drink the stuff...but man, I could murder a tall, frosty G&T right now.

Bonne anniversaire ChaCha and Mr ChaCha Soon you'll have the best present of all in your arms...maybe he could make up for his accidental neglect by promising to do the meconium nappy change?

Our broadband connection keeps crapping out which is why I've been absent for a while...hope nobody called the fire brigade

alittlebitshy · 29/07/2008 13:38

Pgcy1 - you beat me to it. i came to say the same thing!!! Yay - Henry will have a playmate soon - go baby miamla!!!

CaptainCaveman · 29/07/2008 13:40

eeeeekkkkk How exciting for miamla. SEnding lots of prayers her way for a lovely peaceful and swift delivery .

I am one of the 5% who was born on their due date (not that I can claim any kind of credit for that!).

right, I'm off to do something constructive like peg the washing out....or maybe shopping...yes, definately shopping (for me, not for food!)

Sibh · 29/07/2008 13:43

Fab news for Miamla -- preg1, can you let her know we're all thinking of her. Did she manage to finish her decorating marathon before she went in, I wonder?

I finally packed my bag properly last night, and my tens machine arrived this morning so I feel a lot more prepared. DS has been really excited too and keeps patting the bump and planning ways to make the baby laugh, which, given that he has been so unsettled about the whole thing for weeks is a great relief.

DD has turned into a toddler overnight though and keeps trying to bite us. For weeks all she has been saying is, 'Oooh, that's my favourite [insert, meal, toy, friend, picture etc.]. Now it's just 'I don't want to.' Ho hum. I've packed her off to sleep now so let's hope she wakes up in a more cheerful frame of mind. It's pretty hard to get too wound up about someone who says, 'Don't be cross, me a special girl'.

Sibh · 29/07/2008 13:45

Don't feel bad gigglegirl. You have a lot of your plate at the moment. Top up your glass and let the guilt go ...

VintageGardenia · 29/07/2008 13:49

Oooh exciting re. miamla!! She has been so calm up to now, I'm sure she will do brilliantly. She still has her mw friend on hand as well, which she wanted. Good for her.

EXCITING!!

Sibh how old are your DC? DS is 10 and pretty sensible, pretty excited about the baby, etc, but has had a few wobbly moments which I vaguely ascribe to baby worry.

VintageGardenia · 29/07/2008 13:51

I'd murder a gin and tonic by the way, sun is well over yard arm now too.

A flask for hospital, perhaps.

Though I remember thinking after DS I'd want a big glass of champagne, and of course when the time came I just wanted the comfort of a cup of tea!

gigglegirl · 29/07/2008 13:54

didn't want much after birth of DD1 but after DS1 born at home I had bacon and egg butties and a cup of tea and that evening ahd a glass of bubbly with homemade lasagne (my favourite) after DS2 can't remember - fully intend to have some fizzy fairly quickly after this one - I love it!

DS2 now sitting on floor as he can't behave - screaming at the top of his voice I want my Daddy!

ah the calmness of my life! Maybe I will ask for general anaesthetic just for the short period of peace and quiet!

ChaCha · 29/07/2008 13:55

How exciting! Hope we hear some good news soon Miamla...

I came downstairs with DS1 as he refused his nap today and found DH home looking a tad flustered but with a big smile on his face. On table by window was lovely bouquet, favourite drink & card and promise of lunch (after his shower having returned from site) - awwwww! Glad i didn't make a fuss or strop, must be growing up!

GG - TV bans probably not best when you need some respite from entertaining DC. You have a very busy week ahead too - hope you get through it with as little stress as possible.

Sazzles - That's great, lovely child that you have. Our DC will not sit still at all. Probably why DH chickened out and did it himself.

I forgot all about nursing bras I have the ones i wore last year, are they likely to have changed much?

Anyhow, thanks for all lovely anni messages - birthday, anniversary and birth all in 5 days...bit strange!

Albs - good to see you again. Want to know more about Henry and how you're doing.

ChaCha · 29/07/2008 13:57

After last section VG the cup of tea and toast they gave me was like no other tea and toast tasted..... i think i even asked for seconds

Sibh · 29/07/2008 14:00

Thanks for asking VG.

DS is 5, going on about 90. He's a great clown and huge fun, but also says things like 'Sand is a bit sad isn't it because it's made up out of lots of little shells that once had living animals in and now they're all dead.' (Cue parental shouts of 'stop thinking too much!')

He had his worries about DD, before arrived though, and was fab when Maebh actually came, (within reason) so I'm guessing it's the same process again really. He got in a muddle too because his playgroup broke up, and he's starting school on Sept 1st so there's just been too much going on. We made a calendar mapping it all out with pics of icecreams on all the Fridays as that's the way he navigates his way from one week from the next. That seems to have taken a lot of the tension out of it all because he can concentrate on one change at a time.

It's lovely to have him back to himself now anyway. In a way it would be odd if they didn't register the change coming wouldn't it? Did you go for the foot treatment today, by the way, or were the cankles too bad?

PetitFilou1 · 29/07/2008 14:45

Have just had a blissful pedicure - are you all envious?! I now want to go to sleep!

Good luck to Miamla

chacha Don't know about you but my nursing bras from last time look knackered! Also I've lost a bit of breast tissue from feeding for over a year so they ain't going to be quite so big this time!

ChaCha · 29/07/2008 14:49

Sibh - He sounds adorable!!!! Awwww...

Not sure what to do really other than watch the clock till 5.30 (DH had to run) as I feel awful. It has just happened and I don't know what to do. Started with tingly feeling in my hands, then i felt dizzy made myself a drink and just puked everywhere - didn't even have time to prepare myself and get to bathroom or sink. Baby is moving around a lot but i'm getting horrid back pain with it. Not worried about labour or anything as i'm sure it's just normal just feel wiped out and not capable of v.much.
Sorry to grumble. MN is such a blessing in these last few days moreso than ever - am not in touch with RL friends much this week as i want baby's arrival to be a surprise and some of them know that i should have a date now. Also not v.social with RL peeps right now.
Wonder if another DVD will scar DS for life. Ahhhh.....

ChaCha · 29/07/2008 14:53

PF - Thanks, two of them were hardly used with DS2 and so i kept them aside. I just dont think i have time to go and get measured now. Unless of course i plan a trip to city centre with mum tomorrow... thought doesn't excite me in the least, i really want bed.
Pedicure - lovely!

cyteen · 29/07/2008 15:03

ChaCha has it been very hot where you are? I felt very similar to you yesterday afternoon, after ploughing through the midday heat - sick, dizzy, tingly all over, kept feeling like my limbs were going to go into spasm. It was really unpleasant, so perhaps you have something similar. Either way I hope it passes off soon. Plonk DS in front of a DVD and rest yourself up

ChaCha · 29/07/2008 15:28

Thanks Cyteen, feeling like the resident August thread moaner today. What you describe is exactly how i'm feeling - it's not too warm here though today, perhaps just tiredness. Didn't sleep much yesterday. Cyteen, was it you who mentioned lush y'day or Oops, i keep thinking of those bath bombs and other things.

Both boys have snacks and are sat with DVD on and all their toys around them. I am propped up on sofa with lots of cushions and DH's laptop.

House is absolute bombsite!! Will leave you all in peace now and read online paper, roll on 5.30....

Buckets · 29/07/2008 15:29

I got measured at John Lewis for bras on Sat, would recommend it as different brands come up different sizes apparently. I ended up with a 36E (Elle McPherson one reduced £32 to £11!) and a 34G, as approved by bra lady! Also got hair cut short (mmm, cool neck) so I must get final bump pic done this week.

Have just booked Mystic tan and eyelash tint for this Saturday so I will be the most glamourous mum in the recovery room.

Come on babies, get yer arses in gear!

gigglegirl · 29/07/2008 15:47

chacha sounds llike you could be slightly dehydrated - has happened to me with three of my four pregnancies - I was often sick when I drank quickly too. Orange Juice, sipped is really good. As is small pieces of choc that you just suck.

Don't feel bad about DVD my DS1 is watching cbeebies wiith eyes on stalks and DS2 has actually laid down on floor an fallen asleep.

Sadly I'm still working! DD will be home soon too!

oopsacoconut · 29/07/2008 16:10

Afternoon All - fancy a cream tea effort - I can't seem to keep still today so we have fruit scones, victoria sponge, and cherry and cococnut madiera cake. For dinner we have lasagne followed by jam rolypoly and homemade custard. Then i will fall into bed!

Went out for breakfast/lunch with DH and then did a bit of Monsoon retail therapy in 6-12 and 12-18 month sizes - it is all so very cute.

Sazzles It only takes one G&T to make me sleep.

Have booked lovely pregnancy reflexolgy lady for 4 session before bubs is born (thank you work)and a drastic wax and not so drastic haircut for the 9th - so she should arrive early then!

Good Luck Miamla and Jenny hope you have your little ones all snuggled up in your arms soon.

CC Dutchoma sounds just like my Oma - except mine is in South Africa hopefully when my parents come they will bring little knitted things from her!

Happy Anniversary Chacha and Mr Chacha.

HELLOO to everyone else I seemed to have missed.

PetitFilou1 · 29/07/2008 16:16

chacha How horrible - hope you are feeling better now. Hope you are sitting down with a nice big glass of water.

You could always get measured by the local NCT fitter? My cousin said her NCT fitting was good.

Just been to GP - she has confirmed ds2 is head down and in position (she's written down 3/5 engaged) So am still on for a homebirth She had to do an internal though to confirm it as said it was hard to tell with me which way up ds2 was (I suspect the problem is that my babies all have ample bottoms!) - I wasn't quite expecting that and she didn't give me much warning before she whipped the glove on and shoved her hand up! Think she missed her calling as a farm vet
