Wow JennyLee, good luck FWIW, My waters have broke long before any signs of contractions with both DD's. With DD1 we had to stay in because my waters had been broken for over 24 hrs by the time she was born, think waters broke at about 4am, contractions started at about lunch time and she was born the following morning at 9.55. DD2 waters broke at about 6pm, contractions started at about 10pm, DD2 born at 10.32am.
If my waters don't break way in advance this time, it's going to throw me way off course .

So far DN, DD1, DD2 and I have been to the park, fed the ducks, played football, been to McDonalds (special treat), filled up the paddling pool and played out in the garden

sarahnh · 28/07/2008 15:52

no sign of TS or Bealcain.. maybe they are off having their babies now???

i would really like to feel hopefully that i am starting, getting more intense pains but no regularity so i guess just more bh's arghhhhhhhhhh

waytoomuchchocolate · 28/07/2008 16:04

hello everyone!

sorry not been on for a while, no working computer at home.

very glad to hear that some of you are getting close! gives me hope as it still seems very far off. two weeks left at work, am melting today in the office!

won't attempt to catch up on all news, so will just say hope that everyone is managing through the heat, the pain and the everything else, and finding time to eat an ice cream or something

VintageGardenia · 28/07/2008 16:10

Good luck, JennyLee! Hope it all progresses well for you today.

FHLH sounds as if you've been having a nice day, you deserve it, you've been under a bit of strain.

sarahnh glad reflex was nice. I've a session booked for Wednesday lunchtime, just grasping at chance it might either kick things off for me or leave me in the best possible shape for ind. the following day. But your BH's do feel more intense since your session? It's so confusing, isn't it, I've been having the BHs for weeks and weeks, they are so clenchy and strong I don't think I'd even cop on if I did go into labour.

My feet are sooo puffy and now they have gone sort of mottled as well, the way my legs used to go at school when waiting on pitch on freezing cold, wet day for hockey to begin. I am meant to be having a pedicure tomorrow and am far too ashamed of my feet to be able to produce them.

Also my right side is incredibly tender to the touch, as if bruised, I suppose this is just cumulative effect of all that kicking, etc? Main mass of baby has been on right side for weeks.

Well done on your shopping cyteen. I chickened out of even supermarket shopping, and ordered a massive shop online - I seem to be developing some sort of siege mentality, that if there are not 15 tins of tomatoes in the house it'll all fall apart, etc etc .

CC great you are going home! My hospital pjs are a bit cleavagey now you come to mention it, perhaps need to review .

Everyone else, your posts are on the previous page and I can't remember them all! I did miss brekker though, I know oops had pain au chocolat which I'd gladly arm wrestle her for ...

sarahnh · 28/07/2008 16:16

Hey VG,

the reflexologist worked specifically on the areas that is suspose to bring on labour.. pains definitely the strongest i have had, having to breathe really heavily through them but they are not very regular!!! so getting frustrated.. i either want them to ramp up (yes please) or go away!!!!

VintageGardenia · 28/07/2008 16:19

Were your inner ankles tender before you went in? I had my last session 2 weeks ago I think, and they've been really sensitive ever since. Which bits did s/he work on for you?

Wondering. Is it possible to have BH while having real contractions, so that they appear irregular because of intermittent BHs?

VintageGardenia · 28/07/2008 16:20

Or does a real contraction just feel totally different from a BH? Is 10 yrs since felt, cannot remember.

PetitFilou1 · 28/07/2008 16:23

VG I have the same siege mentality but mine started when I had children and has not died down. I get panicky if dh decides we need to 'clear out the freezer' As far as I'm concerned the freezer is there so that we always have food! WW3 could break out in this house and we'd have enough to last at least a few weeks...

Think you will cop on if you go into labour My bh's are getting more intense but definitely not labour pains. Dh now asks 'what's the matter' when I'm breathing through one and he never noticed up to this point so I suppose they must have got stronger.

Sarah
All this work to try and get the baby out sounds exhausting! Maybe if you stop and relax it'll decide to come

sarahnh · 28/07/2008 16:24

my inner ankles were in bits today as were my toes ( that where the gland is to get labour going)... bhs are strong tightening whereas real contractions are proper pain if you know what mean.. i am kind of having a mix of tightening accompyanied by pain which leads me to believe that it still isn't the real thing.... trust me you will remember the pain!!!(but in a positive way) xx

AnnVan · 28/07/2008 16:27

mmmm just had lovely late lunch of salad, ham, tomato, coleslaw and cottage cheese. Lovely

VintageGardenia · 28/07/2008 16:28

LOL pf it's daft, isn't it, when you can get supplies at any garage or convenience shop? I just love to have it all IN though. Same with the baby clothes and gear, really, even from my mother's house near a small village in the country you could pop out and be back with a pack of babygros or nappies in half an hour!

They'll all be grateful to us when in the middle of the nuclear winter we're producing hearty casseroles and rummaging out pots of home-made jam marked Summer 2002!

PetitFilou1 · 28/07/2008 16:29

VG Real contractions HURT that's all I can say! I usually get a few crampy type ones to start with (aka the period pain type feeling other people have been describing recently) and then it kicks off in grand style and there is definitely no mistaking it.

OP posts:
VintageGardenia · 28/07/2008 16:33

Contractions hurt? what are you on about? Don't I just visualise my cervix lotus blossom opening and the baby eases his/her way out into the world while my reflexologist strokes my feet lovingly?

ChaCha · 28/07/2008 16:39

Had to LOL at siege mentality Cyteen - Very impressed with your shopping trip, a quick trip to Lush sounds like a v.good idea too! Hello to everyone else, hoping the heat is not melting you all.

Back from hospital, all good. Actually felt an overwhelming urge to cry when lovely consultant (also present at DS2's section) mentioned the part when we could watch baby being lifted out and handed over, made me feel all warm inside. Got my meds ready for Wednesday night now and possibility of blood transfusion sounds alright to me should the iron levels be as low as they think they might be. Also met really lovely needle man (you know...can't spell the name) who said he could see a vein for the callenula that looked just fine and i was not to worry Ohhhhhhhhh.....am very excited, nervous, happy....

Buckets, TS and Bealcain i believe haven't posted .....

VintageGardenia · 28/07/2008 16:43

ChaCha really delighted for you .

miamla · 28/07/2008 16:48

VG that's exactly what happens!

saying that though, i just had a "contraction" (still trying to not get hopes up that they're real), was really quite a sharp pain but as it was happening I got a hefty kick from Pip in a really bruised area (under my ribs) that made me eyes water! It would seem he didn't enjoy the "contracton" any more than i did!

chacha lovely to hear you had such a good appt

alittlebitshy · 28/07/2008 17:05

Hello.
Not read through the thread yet.... Will do eventually.

So tired - but not as tired as yesterday. And it's not rrslly due to Henry not sleeping at night. He has so far (desperate for it to be true and carry on but not counting my chickens) had good 5 hour stretches at night (I hink it's a big baby thing - tanks up and sleeeeeeeeps) - but Weds in hosp I didn;t leep well on the ward and just thinking abou the section. Thurs I was worried he'd cry/ something would happen etc etc, fri took ages to go off but slept for 5 hours but i only slept for 3 oncvinvd he was out to wake up, sat again (we were home that night) I was terrified something would happen and also just couldn' sleep even when he was. Also napping just wouldn;t happen - brain couldn;t switch off. Last night we got to sleep about midnight after a feeding frenzy, got woken about 5, H fed then he had another loong sleep. It wouldn't have been so long but i had to go to the dr and he slept on in the car seat even though he ad looked about to feed before we went. Bfore you think I'm depriving my baby - he has fed about 7 times in the last 6 hours and is a guzzler, so....

Anyow - I am rambling aren;t i?

Will see if i have time to check on the news before I am needed....

AnnVan · 28/07/2008 17:09

Hey ALBS - good to see you!
Sorry to hear you're feeling tired, but then I guess weve all got that coming soon dont we? Hopoe you are recovering ok from the cs.

ChaCha · 28/07/2008 17:13

Thanks girls.
Hey ALBS, good to read your update. GG, DD and I are all sections this week so we will be with you very shortly for newborn grumbles.....

I found cluster feeds so frustrating....think i watched every DVD that was out at the time.

Jennylee · 28/07/2008 17:19

Thanks to all the well wishers, and to foghornleghorn for the advice. No labour yet, but I got tearful when in-laws took DS1 overnight about ten minutes ago.

ALBS great to hear from you. You do sound tired. Great that Henry is a good feeder and sleeper, but I can understand how you can't let yourself switch off to get the rest you need. Hope your DD is thrilled with him.

Sazzles coo, lightning! Drama. Hope you find an alternative for DD! What a pain that your mw is such an old horror. Your bp not too high?

Anyone think 32 cocktail sausages at 6pm a balanced, healthy supper? Yeses only need respond...

Albs nice to hear from you - I hated cluster feeding too. I used to end up crying as was so desperate to get to bed.

sazzles we have lightening and thunder here too - except dd hates it!

VG Yes the baby gently slides out bringing clouds of rose petals with it. Doves fly outside your window, there is harp music and you feel at one with the universe. And a giant box of chocolates and a maternity nurse appear as if by magic at your bedside
