Lcy · 28/07/2008 09:38

Hi Cyteen - i guess if LO is still turning at least he has room to turn back. Are you getting organised for your your home birth or waiting to see what happens with LO's position first?

AnnVan · 28/07/2008 09:38

Morning all, anyone for fresh coffee??

AH, you're all being good and avoiding high caffeine drinks.

Foghorn I have also had a rubbish night due heartburn and heat. Good news is the cot arrived today!! we are gradually getting sorted. Now debating whether to run a cool bath and just have a soak.

sarahnh · 28/07/2008 09:40

morning

hope everyone is well today.. thinking of you dizzy [hugs]...

great news about coming home cc make sure you try and rest up as much as possible when you get home..

well me like everyone else is like a swollen elephant... yesterday didn't go too badly pain wasn't as bad... dd seemed delighted to go to nursery today think she was bored of mummy and daddy after the weekend..

going for more reflexology today to try and get this lo one out.. so far have tried pineapple, hot food, sex and reflexology... anyone else have any new ideas??? xxx

ChaCha · 28/07/2008 09:50

CC - Glad your hospital stay is almost over
LCY - Welcome back. Homebirth prep must be quite exciting.

Someone please send some energy my way, so much to do but just can't be bothered. Sazzles - you know by now that you aren't allowed to mention the S word...I want to swim!!!!!!!!
There is a lovely pool DH and I hire, a converted barn not too far away - thought it would be lovely to go there after you mentioned swimming last time. Told DH i'd like to call and book it but no such luck. Mr. Optimistic had a list of 'but what if you slip by the side of the pool' 'what if you get those cramps' 'the SPD..' 'no, i'd worry to much' ....
[sigh] [looks longingly at paddling pool]

Lcy · 28/07/2008 09:53

Hi ChaCha - could you just go and stand float in the pool? I have been doing that nearly everyday and it is bliss!

Would send you some energy but can't find any here!

dancerandprancer · 28/07/2008 09:56

Hi all.

Sorry not to have posted for ages. Now officially on mat leave, thank goodness!! Having said that, already finding DD a bit of a handful mainly due to a combination of SPD (me) and potty training (her)

Congratulations to all who have made it to the finish line. Feels like an age away still. Fingers crossed little man may come early. Certainly feel like he is trying to burrow south today.

miamla · 28/07/2008 09:57

dizzy thinking of you and your family today

TS i am sooo with you at the dance party!! what tune do you fancy starting with?
the photo from today is lovely! i'll bet it was a close call over who had the most fun!

CC sorry to hear you're still in the hospital but, at least your ankles have come in to visit you!

sazzles i've done a few things over the months to test the reactions of my bump, def not child abuse, just good fun!

oops we've been having some sleepless naps too! Operation "get this baby out whilst friend is here" is going ahead full steam! i've just had a tin of pineapple for breakfast after a "nap". DP seems to still be enjoying it all!
that is so sweet of your DH with the babygrow

cyteen i agree with the others, great name! i'd be using it too if it wasn't already my cousin's name
i asked my friend about babies turning and she said once they're in the right position its unlikely they'll switch back to breech again because of their heads being engaged

chacha i didn't know what lush meant either and i do drink!

ooh and exciting news, i've done some more painting in the nursery so perhaps it will be finished before Pip makes an appearance.

off for a bit of ball bouncing and then probably out for a long walk. DP has asked if i can go into labour today because otherwise he's got to iron work shirts tonight!

CC just read that you're being released! excellent news! just make sure you remember to bring your newly discovered ankles home with you

poppysocks · 28/07/2008 10:10

LOL at your DH's and his shirt ironing miamla. At least he does them himself!

Welcome back to LCY and dancer.

So sorry to hear about your rubbish night FHLH. Hope the children all have so much fun with one another today that you get a decent rest.

Sorry ChaCha - can't help with the energy. Suspect I don't stand a chance of locating any of that until 2009....

gigglegirl · 28/07/2008 10:20

any of that coffee available

it's only 10:15 and already I am eagerly awaiting bedtime!

had a lie in til 8 as my mum and dad are being great with the kids but still not sleeping well at all so still exhausted.

Carpets getting fitted today so kind of on the home straight with the house but it is all those final bits and pieces taht will make it perfect and who knows when they will be done!

DD1 gone out for a treat with my brother and his girlfriend - it is their birthday presenet to her and she has been packed and ready since 8am! They have only just picked her up!

and my boys..... well I am at the end of my tether already. DS1 can be so lovely, kind and caring but this is not what we are demonstrating at the moment - fighting, shouting, throwing and destroying. He has been sat on the stair for 15 minutes and been given a really calm telling off and explanation of what beaviour was expected - lasted two minutes!

now as I have written that they are sitting in a chair together hugging each other wanting a photo taken - see they can do it! for seconds at a time.

To top it all off DS1 is being punished by no TV for a week - really a punishment for me!

have got four days to perform a supernanny like transformation on them and finish house and prepare for number four! All whilst sitting in my chair as can't move and firefighting work questions! HELP!

Expectant · 28/07/2008 10:31

CC great news

miamla glad someone else's DH is trying to get them to go into labour on a specific day. DH has kindly asked me to avoid 8 August (too many chinese women who believe this is an incredibly lucky day and he is worried we there won't be room for us) and 9 August which is Singapore national day so again may be a bit busy and there is a parade near the hospital so he's worried we might not make it! I've tried to point out that it's not really up to me - I can't just cross my legs and hold it in!

*Ann8 - coffee would be most welcome even though it's 5.30pm here - I need something to keep me awake at work!

Lcy - we're seeing the mw on Wednesday after not having seen her for a month, so going to talk through the homebirth then. I guess at that point we'll find out what our options are if the little bugger is breech again. It's exciting though! Are you all prepared now?

PetitFilou1 · 28/07/2008 10:55

Morning all

Miamla Hope you are feeling better

dizzy Thinking of you today - hope things go ok

gigglegirl As far as I'm concerned you are a saint with all of those dcs at home with you. Mine are at nursery today (guilt emoticon) while I potter about the house. I felt utterly exhausted after yesterday's heat even though I did very little all afternoon so my sympathies are with you.

CC Glad you are out of hospital.

libbysister wondered where you had got to - I'm 36 weeks too but want him OUT. I can't go anywhere with the dcs now when I've got them at home as I can't walk very far without being in pain - it is a nightmare! Much rather have the little one with me in the sling than carry on like this for too long.

AnnVan · 28/07/2008 10:56

My dp has also got specific instructions re going into labour. I have to keep my legs crossed between 10 - 25 August. DPs birthday is on 18th and doesn't want to share his birthday weekend!!

I don't think that's going to be a problem, because bumpy really doesn't seem interested in the outside world. in fact, it seems to hide as much as possible when people try to feel it/ look at it/ listen to it. I think this one isgoing to hang in there till the end!

AnnVan · 28/07/2008 11:03

ChaCha - sadly I am rather deficient in energy myself. The house is a total tip bacaused I just haven't had the energy to do any washing up etc. Am running a nice cool bath in the hope that a cold soak will give me enough oomph to acheive something today!

Birth pool in a box just arrived - so i am all prepared. Although i am 38 weeks i don't feel like the baby is getting ready to arrive at all (no twinges, braxton hicks etc...). Going to put fat feet up and watch tv for a bit

Cyteen - fingers crossed baby will be head down

Jennylee · 28/07/2008 12:18

Hi,

I tend to just lurk on this thread, but I have news kind of, I am 37 weeks yesterday, and this morning my waters broke at 6 am, unfortunately not in labour, went to hospital to make sure it was my waters and midwife said it is and she said am not dilating yet but it should start soon. I have untill 11.00 tomorrow she said or they have to induce me with a drip, so am hoping is soon to start hurting. Also at st johns in livingston - the hospital, they said there are nO TENS machines, they all got nicked by various people over time, so I'm off to buy one as I had one when i was in labour with my ds1 and it really helped, they told me to come in when the contractions are 4 minutes apart, will post with any other news, but my mind has come over all foggy so I need to go and sit down, have been doing laundry and changing bedding but all done now.

ohh good luck jennylee sending you positive vibes ...

Well back from reflexology and getting loads of pains.. had them when i was lying in the chair too so fingers crossed.. but knowing my luck she is just wriggling more into place!!!!

Lcy · 28/07/2008 13:08

Good luck Jennylee

cyteen · 28/07/2008 13:54

Blimey Jennylee, good luck!

AnnVan my squidboy is just the same - he'll be kicking away like fury, then the minute I put anyone else's hand on my belly he goes all shy. Something tells me he is shaping up to be an awkward child! So nothing like his mum then

Why, why, WHY did I choose to do my shopping+chores during the hottest part of the day? What a moron. Just got back from town where I have managed to:

  • pick up parcel from sorting office (was lovely present from MIL, a swaddling cocoon thing, very sweet of her )
  • stock up on Lush goodies - they've got a great promotion on at the moment, which along with a packaging exchange meant I got a free moisturiser and free facemask - also got some soaps and some nice bath bubble stuff as a treat for DP and I
  • go to Boots for deodorants (essential in this weather, I think you'll agree) and toothbrushes, plus the all-important muslins and a cellular blanket. They had a 2 for 1 deal on photo frames as well, so I've managed to finally frame two beautiful photographs of my brother and my mum - no more languishing in my diary for them
  • grab some spuds, corncobs and peppers from the market
  • stock up on RLT

Am now at home, sweat-soaked, and shortly to take the world's longest cool shower with all my delicious new smellies! At least I don't feel sick anymore.

cyteen · 28/07/2008 13:57

Oh, and I remembered to buy a birthday card and two thank you cards for various people.
