Sorry Sazzles, I should have put the kettle on.

I thought I was going back to sleep but I'm so uncomfortable. There just isn't enough room for me and this baby!! No position is a good position. ARRRGGGHHHH

OP posts:
CaptainCaveman · 21/07/2008 08:55

I outed you all - with real and mn names..... Still, mroops is not likely to meet me in rl and 'out' me in a social setting. He's not is he oops

poppysocks · 21/07/2008 09:41

Good morning ladies. 'Twas the cat that got me up this morning, having run away last night, enjoyed a night on the rampage and at 6am was sitting under our window whining to get in. Sadly this was by DD's window too, so that was that. At least I slept until then though. Marmite on toast and tea for breakfast here too. Yum.

All v. exciting here now isn't it. Ilana having her baby NOW! All these twinges everywhere. This is really happening isn't it.... No sign of anything here, but since it took DD until at least a week overdue to even think of moving, I'll just carry on waddling like a whale (that doesn't quite work does it! ).

Stunning morning planned. Tons of ironing. Sun shining gorgeously so hoping it'll hold until this afternoon when I can justify ditching it for the garden.

ChaCha · 21/07/2008 09:58

Morning everyone,

CC - I think you're a fab mum doing so many different activities with DS, really i'm so impressed, he is a very lucky little lad. I am looking fwd to doing more with my boys when back to being relatively human...for the now when mum/DH are not around they seem to be enjoying the 'adventure garden' lol.

How do i let you know my mobile number btw?

Mrsmagoo - Agree, the SPD is hard, how are you managing yours? Hope your DD is on the mend now.

Poppysocks - Ironing?!? Oh the very thought! Hope you get to spend some time in the garden - something i'd like to do later in the day.

Think i'll make steak fajitas for lunch today. Yum. Extra mushrooms and some cheese on top. (why am i always thinking about my stomach, tut tut)

PetitFilou1 · 21/07/2008 09:58

Morning all - trying to have peaceful day as my stomach slowly settles down... Boss said 'I thought next week was your last week' Ummm nope, bad luck! I am definitely going on mat leave next week whether she likes it or not!

dizzy I am sorry to hear your mum is going downhill. I cannot imagine the turmoil you are in at the moment. I agree with TS, your family life has to go on but allow yourself some space to think and cry from time to time.

chacha sorry forgot to mention I felt for you re the transfusion. Hope you are feeling better.

Pg1 You normally go down a band size and up a couple of cup sizes when you are first bfing - but you need to be measured in case you are wearing the wrong size atm. And yes that will make you a G cup! Your rib cage slowly starts to shrink back once the baby engages; that is why they like you to leave it as late as possible to get measured (although I wouldn't leave it past 38 weeks as a bit risky!)

PetitFilou1 · 21/07/2008 09:59

Ps I am on facebook too but have no idea how you find the time to go on there as well as on here! Happy to join up if someone tells me how to.

MrsMagooo · 21/07/2008 10:23

ChaCha not sure managing is the right word as I'm not managing at all I have my incredibly sexy walking stick, but mainly I am hobbling round by clinging onto the furniture!!

It takes me a good 10 mins to heave out of bed to go for a wee!

DD better then she was but very clingy - she is currently draped across my bump!

I am dribbling at the thought of steak fajitas - yum yum!!

PF Hope your stomach has settled a little!

Anyone finding they are getting cravings all over again??

I can't seem to get enough bittery lemon tasting drinks!

Sausageandmash · 21/07/2008 10:27

Mrs Magoo - just the constant desire for carbs! Helping myself to a bagel now. However, not sure it counts as a craving as I'm pretty much a carb-aholic whether pregnant or not!

gigglegirl · 21/07/2008 10:27

morning all!!

Just thought I'd check in - meant to be on mat leave but doing little bits of work still whilst looking after DC. DS2 is playing beautifully this morning. GOt a big ride on truck off all myfriends and is doing deliveries round the room.

Loads of letfovers today so please tuck in!

alittlebitshy · 21/07/2008 11:16

Morning.
Thinking of ilana. Do we think she's snuggling with her baby yet??

TS V glad mIl is there now. Hope it all seems to get better and work out re dh. Also hope dd enjoys her trial time with grandma while you go to your drs app!!!

Pf eek - glad you're on the mend. May i ask how you knew it was a dodgy nut? I'm the dozy kind of person who'd just think "ooh that tasted odd"....

chacha mm - i think it's worth a chat at your next app. You never know, they might be really helpful . But at the very least, they'll know your fears and hopefully note them in your matty notes so it won;t be a surprise on the day.

dizzy . we're misisng seieng you around as much Hope you're doing reasonably ok.

mrsmagoo and boh.bint hello - welcome - you;re just in time for our first arrival (today)

Who have I missed? Loads i bet .

Having my hair cut in a bit. ready for my hospital stay, photos and not being able to get it done for a while. Hoping they don't stare at my rather overgrown eyebrows which I intend to get done tomorrow .

Buckets · 21/07/2008 11:36

CC - Got yer message. Probably not much point you and I texting each other given that we're only 24hrs apart and limited to Patientline .

Have just booked bra fitting at John Lewis for Sat am then will get haircut anywhere that has time. Going for a Posh Bob - chinlength (ear-tuckable) in front and v short at the back. Yeah I know it's probably going to need lots of upkeep but I figure if I can get the hang of breastfeeding and DS is at preschool, come September my mornings will be a little window of sunshine . Next weekend, I hit the beauty salon.

Chacha's fajitas have prompted me to start a list of nice meals I might fancy, to inspire DH now he's so into grocery shopping!

dizzydixies · 21/07/2008 11:37

morning all -thank you for all your kind thought, latest is that she had a reasonably comfortable night (whatever that means) and is much the same as yesterday. I can't stop bursting into tears all over the fecking place and its soooo not like me, am trying to put it down to exhaustion and hormones - have so far managed to hide it from the kids

I slept well, more through exhaustion I think, once kids went over, I have to admit to doping them both up dd2 DOES have a cough if that excuses me at all? a cuddle from DD2 would have been lovely but she's more of a kicking/headbutting/slapping tazmanian devil in bed than anything else and I just couldn't face it

I was up first after hearing dh come in from nightshift so had a shower and got them up and into nursery by 10.15 its rainbow week this week at nursery so everyday they have to dress in a different colour, of course today was yellow and I sent them in head to toe in red - duely got a row from dd1 for it too can't even get that sodding right at the moment!

beautiful day today, have done a newborn wash and hung it out whilst eating 3 slices of toast and pate - what harm can it do now - please don't tell me if there is some harm still attached!

going to do some quick online shopping of last minute bits and pieces then off to collect kids for dd1's intensive swim course starting this afternoon

hoping IlanaK all settled with our first August arrival and wishing you all lovely sunny Mondays

sarahnh · 21/07/2008 11:43

I just wrote a huge message but lost it ....

Sorry to all those feeling down esp ts and dizzy sending you both massive hugs...

Well my dh has officially told me he wants this baby out!!! so i have had pineapple for breakfast, dh gave me a right seeing too hot and spicy food for lunch and tea and reflexology booked for tomorrow!!! Lo has been sitting on my bladder for the last 24 hours anything goes now!!!!

ataraxis · 21/07/2008 11:45

Hi dizzy, good to hear from you.

Think pate is all about vitamin A, so no, a few slices of toast shouldn't hurt! In fact, I now have that in my head, will have to go out and get some - I remember telling someone about that and she couldn't believe it - when they were pregnant (she was around 55 when I spoke to her about it), they were told to eat loads of liver etc to keep the vitamin A content up. Oh the joys of 'advice'.

I have just re-read the scan letter which says drink 1.5 pints of water 1.5 hours before the scan and not to wee until after it - how am i ever going to manage that?

VintageGardenia · 21/07/2008 12:08

ataraxis that is insane! I couldn't hold 1.5 litres of water in for 1.5 minutes! I suppose do it, and if you have to go, just go, but bring a big bockle of water in with you and slug away while you're waiting. I mean if it goes through you as quickly as it does me, it'll be plumping up your bladder as much as they could wish for.

dizzy glad you slept, nothing wrong surely with a few smears of pate at this stage. Given my alcohol cravings this last week I'm assuming everything's ok by now...

sarahnh ooooh let me know how reflex goes, I am having more later in week & my inner ankles have been so so tender all week I am dying to hear what reflexologist says - last time she said that area was my uterus. My body feels the same but those pressure points are throbbing and tender. Will hold out till next week before begging her to try her bring-on techniques...

Bringing on labour's a great excuse for a seeing to, isn't it?

I love how everyone is getting their hair cut. Can I ask, is anyone bothering with waxing?

Also - does anyone know about using Lansinoh before starting bf, is there any benefit? A friend of mine told me it was good to prep yourself with it.

Anyone suffering from insomnia, there's a great DVD you can get, it's Arsenal's proudest moments or something...

PetitFilou1 · 21/07/2008 12:08

dizzy
Give yourself a break. Dressing your dds in red instead of yellow is not the end of the world even if they might think it is...Also, I don't think you should necessarily hide your sadness from them. Surely they realise your mum is very poorly? I don't mean weeping in front of them all day is a good idea but it would help them to understand why you aren't yourself apart from anything else. Sorry if that sounds fierce - it isn't meant to, but difficult to get across over the internet.

albs I know it was the nut as it was the only thing I had that the rest of the family didn't. I knew I had eaten a bad one as it tasted horrible - thought it would just 'pass through' so to speak. Well it did. But not quite in the way I had hoped My mother also said to me 'you probably ate a bad pistachio -they are very toxic' which she obviously knew when I didn't....

ataraxis You are not going to manage it - clearly the person who wrote it has never been heavily pregnant! Personally I would try drinking as much as I could but a bit nearer the time of the scan. There is no way I could drink 1.5 pints and not wee for 1.5 hours!

ChaCha · 21/07/2008 12:08

Just sitting down for a break and time to pester DH about grocery shop. DC have only an hour left before nap time and am pleased to say they have been playing happily in the garden for hours now. Are you all experiencing some lovely warm sunshine then?

Has turned into domestic morning but am enjoying it, something to do with the weather. Windows open, lots of washing/cleaning/etc.. being done and the DC are being so lovely today, both boys unloaded the machine for me AND tidied up after snacks and drinks...

DD - You sound better for some sleep. See! You've got to look after yourself too you know. Newborn wash....ahhhhhh!

Sarah - LOL, anyone would think you actually want to have this baby now!

ALBS - You're next then!!!!

Tis a lovely day for having a baby Ilana - ahhhhh!

PF - You're still working? Well done you!

Sausageandmash · 21/07/2008 12:09

Dizzy - you are being brilliant - pah! to a few tears - I've been in floods over the CBeebies 'It's our world' song in the Green Balloon eco-bit - hormones have a lot to answer for and you've got lots on your plate, I take my hat off to you.

PetitFilou1 · 21/07/2008 12:13

VG Waxing? lol. I have hairy legs (not attempting Veet again as I burnt the backs of my legs with it last time as back of leg hairs were still too short!) and a full on lady garden. I do have a pedicure though with one booked for next week and am also having a haircut today! I will have to ask the beautician to excuse the legs (or otherwise try and get a wax at the same time...)

Interesting what you say about alcohol cravings. I've started to fancy it again too and had a couple of sneaky glasses (small ones) of wine recently.

Sausageandmash · 21/07/2008 12:14

Ataraxis - you're pretty far gone - I thought we just had to drink loads at the beginning of pregnancy? I have lots of scans - next one next week at 36 weeks and have no special instructions. So, I'd go with PF's advice and not go overboard on the water consumption and ensuing struggle to remain composed, mobile and continent!

sarahnh · 21/07/2008 12:18

on the preening side of things.. i got hairdressers booked for friday and then next tuesday going for leg and bikini ( am i mad?!) and a pedicure... got it into my head that i need to look presentable down there, tho from past experience i didn't give a monkey's the last time!!!!

And anyway, all my preparations are going to work so i am betting that i will have a lovely lo in my arms by friday ( sarah has huge wishful thinking that just because she says baby come out that they baby will do what she says xxx
