FGS dizzy all any of us do on here is moan but you have a real reason to. Don't ever apologise for that, you goose. I'm sorry things with your mum are so sad and trying. How lucky she is to have a daughter like you so willing to put so much into the time she has left. Can you take the tiny rampager and just tuck her tightly into bed beside you and fall asleep like that? You evidently need sleep, and might be nice to have a warm little one to hug if you wake later and DH is still working & you get the blues.

Biggest hug ever, sending you lots of strength. xxx

Buckets · 20/07/2008 21:26

Aah PG1, if you have the cashflow, buy a few likely sizes tonight and Ebay/Mumsnet Classifieds the wrong ones when you know which are which.

gigglegirl · 20/07/2008 21:32

evening all - party over - I'm officially exhausted and ody about to give up! Think it went well. RL friends were great and DH was AMAZING - has done all the clearing bless him.

To all feeling down, am so sorry, stuff is hard enough at the moment for us all without having to cope with life!

We've got loads of leftovers here so if a slice of gooey choc cake, tarte au citeron or some lamb and roasted veg on pitta would make anyone feel better then dig in!

longwayfromhome · 20/07/2008 21:33

Oh, it sounds like lots of people have had really tough weekends. Sorry not to respond personally, but sending lots of thoughts and prayers from the other side of the world.

However on a specific note, ChaCha - if you do have a section it should be an anaesthetist who does your cannula (they are generally excellent at finding even impossible veins), and you can also ask for local anaesthetic cream to be put on beforehand (it needs to be about half an hour before) - not sure if these are helpful suggestions - but they are two things that you could think about mentioning at your next appointment.

I had a lovely day, a nice long-ish walk home from church in the cold quiet city, lunch in a cafe and a visit to an art gallery.

ataraxis · 20/07/2008 21:34

Just dropping in quickly.

dizzy - sorry to hear things aren't going well, hope you are doing ok. Sending you lots of hugs.

TS - glad MIL has seen sense (although I am a bit that you are willing to have your MIL in the house for that length of time , hope DH does too.

Hi bint (is that ok for a shortening?). Welcome on board.

sazzles - v intrigued at your other thread comments, care to share?

Ilana - best of luck for tomorrow. Tomorrow?!!

Hi to everyone else as well, hope you are as ok as can be expected at this point .

I have stupid growth scan tomorrow - ok, it's not stupid, but I was absolutely fine and calm (to the point that i told DH he didn't need to come (it is school run time))until this afternoon - now am feeling completely wobbly about the whole thing, especially when i asked DH whether I had grown over the last few weeks and he said "I think so...".

stillhere · 20/07/2008 21:41

Just a quick one to wish IlanaK all the very best tomorrow. Can't see that you've checked in today but I know everyone's thinking of you.

Also big big hugs to TS - sorry MIL and DH issues have been such a pain but hope all is better. Hope that rum did the trick...!

In the world of the building site I'm starting to feel a bit more positive about the idea of having a baby in this house - our new bedroom and ensuite are virtually finished, so we'll at least have a clean, dry space to camp out with baby even if the upstairs and kitchen are still a plaster covered nightmare.

Going to run now - trying to get an early night to compensate for hours of tossing and turning last night. I know sleeping on your back's a no-no but like someone else (? who? - sorry - I caught up on the last two days' posts in a real hurry...) it's been my only realistic option for sleep when I'm having a bad night...

Wishing you all acid indigestion-free and comfortable nights - and that we all wake up tomorrow and have normal sized hands and ankles. Oops think have already tripped over into dreamland.

Just popping in quickly to say a massive good luck to Ilana for tomorrow. Finally we're off! Good luck with your scan too ataraxis. ChaCha - I've had a pretty rough time with needles during this pg with lots of failed attempts, leaving me looking and feeling like a pin cushion. Worst one was at 28 week check when they had to get an anaesthestist in to get the blood through my hand and I v. nearly fainted too. Was also starting to get really worried re: section. After all that the last lots of blood tests went absolutely fine! Hopefully same for you.

Sorry to hear about all the difficulties TS. Hope you're feeling better now.

BTW, I totally agree with you Sazzles...

ataraxis · 20/07/2008 21:49

aah... so that's where i have been going wrong all these years - should have picked them up at first whimper. My poor psychologically damaged children .

your afternoon sounds more fun than mine - we spent 3 hours in Ikea!!! Still, DS2 now has a bed, we have some storage stuff and... um - i think that's it

giggle, glad the party went well, will be checking in for leftovers tomorrow if that's ok?

Sorry to post stats and run. MIL arrived just as I clicked Post Message. Will read through posts in a bit to catch up on the day.

Chicken & Rice Casserole for Dinner
(thankfully I had one stashed in the back of the freezer)

OP posts:
ataraxis · 20/07/2008 22:09

sazzles ... he has been sleeping in his brother's lower bunk... and they are more partial to hiding in cupboards than boxes - oh, the fun we had in Ikea today!

ChaCha · 20/07/2008 22:57

Hope you have a good rest tonight DD, you deserve it.

TS - That's good news that MIL has arrived, hurray!

Sazzles - DH mentioned weather to me earlier, my first thought was getting all the sheets washed but am now thinking marinade some lamb/chicken on Wednesday and relaxing BBQ with some friends and mum next day. DH loves to do the BBQ bit (with me standing in the kitchen doing all the actual washing, chopping, preparing) so perhaps we can change these roles and I can wear the apron and hold the tongs by the BBQ Hairdresser appt sounds great. What are you getting done?

Ataraxis - Hoping all goes well for you at scan tomorrow.

Longway - Thank you for your message. It was anaesthetist who did the cannula trip 1 and 2 - no problems. This particular one today started near my elbow and prodded everywhere else thereafter when she had no luck. The thing was she felt it necessary to talk me through it all, i mean someone like me does not need to hear 'oh you're veins are so strange, thought i had a nice juicy one there but it seems to have gone' and 'oh just wait until next week then, this is nothing' WTF?! Wasn't until i was reiterating story to DH that i thought wait a minute...not surprising i was out of it. Thanks again, i will make a note of what you've said and tell them on Monday - glad you had a peaceful afternoon

Poppysocks - Glad you told me that, not only me then, phew!! How are you feeling about a section? Are you having one then? Sorry to be thick, don't think i've read many of your posts...i was part of the very first thread and some after but couldn't catch up, had 2 under 2 and have not so great pg's.

Am sure i meant to reply to someone else, sorry. Ilana, will shout again 'good luck and thinking of you tomorrow' So our next on the list is ALBS.....ahhhh!

AnnVan · 21/07/2008 01:51

Guess who's still up?? My days of being able to sleep are obviously over ((sighs)) Can anyone tell me why I'm doing this?? Hope everyone else is sound asleep.

AnnVan · 21/07/2008 02:17

Oh - ChaCHa I feel your pain re: difficulty getting needles into veins. It happens to me every time they need to take blood or stick a canula in me. My veins are very deep, hard to find and also wiggly. End up with loads o bruises and little holes in me. I'm supposed to be going to get blood taken again and have been putting it off for the last three weeks for precisely this reason.

TwilightSurfer · 21/07/2008 02:25

Dizzy {{{HUGS}}} Having been where you are my advice is this: make sure you eat, remember to breath, the bathroom is a wonderful place to cry, and know your mother will always be with you.

MIL here and settled. DD doing nicely with her. Testing the waters tomorrow by going to doctor's appointment alone. DD to stay home and hang with Grandma. (FIL returned home after dropping MIL.) I feel ready to let things loose now and think I can begin to relax with all these minor prelabor bobbits. Will begin focusing on the lotus blooming as Bealcain explained. My cervix check tomorrow will probably help speed things up a bit. Still hoping to hold out till Saturday (37+0) but that's only 6 sleeps as DD would say.

On the topic of baby blues, do you think all this crying NOW will delete what could happen after I give birth?

Welcome Bohemianbint.

Thanks for all the warm thoughts ladies.

Ilanak IT IS YOUR DAY!! Make us proud!!!!

OP posts:
ataraxis · 21/07/2008 06:16

Ho hum... DS2 is up (must be those floorboards) and therefore so am I. Anyone else awake?

TS, really glad that things are getting sorted, hope it continues that way and the doctors visit goes well (both for you and at home). Does that mean FIL did a 10 hour round trip? That's very lovely of him!

dizzy, hope you are feeling ok today.

Ilanak - thinking of you today and wishing you all the luck in the world!

VintageGardenia · 21/07/2008 07:16

Hi ataraxis I'm just behind you. Well, an hour behind. Imagine, Ilana having her baby today...

Tea and toast (larded with butter and slathered with Marmite) to start the day, waiting for DS to wake up & share his new Arsenal dvd with me...

ataraxis · 21/07/2008 07:21

Hi vg, sounds like you have an exciting morning planned - new arsenal dvd, who could ask for more?

Having exactly the same breakfast as you!

Going to look for a cot this morning - lent ours to (D)B who took it to his house in France so is now having to buy me a new one .

Last few days of (relative) peace as school hols start on Thursday...

TwilightSurfer · 21/07/2008 07:39

Seems my midnight wandering is truly a habit. Morning ladies. Think I'll make some toast too.

What time was Ilanak going in today? And who's her texting partner??

OP posts:
CaptainCaveman · 21/07/2008 08:25

Morning! Up since 6.40 here too, courtesy of ds.

ts there were only 4 of us who gave our numbers for text partners and Ilana wasn't one of them. Guess we'll just have to wait and see .

ilana hoping all goes well for you today - you are so close to meeting your baby at last!!!

Was having some funny old pains last night - had the 'knitting needle' sensation (ie. feeling like someone is prodding your cervix, via the vagina, with a knitting needle?), plus lots of bh's and mild period type pains. Fell asleep after about 2 hours of this and woke this morning to - nothing . Looks like Jerry will keep me guessing right til the end.

Ds and I are off to an adventure play place today (Sundown Park, in north notts) so he is very excited. Am meeting an old friend there with her 2 kiddies too (she is also a nurse) so am in good hands should anything happen!! Must remember to put my mat notes in the boot of the car

oopsacoconut · 21/07/2008 08:26

Goodluck IlanaK

Huggles to Dizzy - Sending you prayers, hugs andstrength to get through the next while.

TS - Hope all goes well with MIL today and DD agrees to stay with her for your appointment today

Will catch up with everyone else later -Went to Cambridge for christening this weekend so not been about.

Going to work to train my somewhat inexperienced replacement.

Huggles to those who need them.

MrsMagooo · 21/07/2008 08:28

Morning ladies,

How's everyone today??

TS - so sorry to read about your probs with MIL hun, I would have cried too!! Glad to hear she's finally with you!!

ChaCha - bless your heart hun that was a horrid hospital experience I totally relate as have sh*te veins!! {{{{hugs}}}}

Ilanak - Thinking of you today

Is anyone else utterly fed up??

I think I amanaged 2 hours sleep last night - my SPD is blooming killing me!

Have just eaten some chocolate Mishapes for breakfast - probably not the smartest move!
