Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Buckets · 20/07/2008 18:31

Hi S&M
Can't be arsed to find a list either but will say pack for 2 nights even if you plan to leave as soon as you can. Anything can happen and if you expect your DP to go home and get the right stuff, he won't and that will coincide with your milk coming in and will consequently be the absolute end of the world sob sob boo hoo.
I am now off to wash my new baby clothes as I have visited Chinese factories (in a past professional life) and they aint so nice. All my 2nd hand stuff can stay as it is though because it's clearly been washed by fancy detergents far superior to my cheapo washing powder.

alittlebitshy · 20/07/2008 18:33

twlilight what a confusion - though at least Mil did see that she was in the wrong, even if dh can't see where he's gone adrift .

Sent a text to miamla who is fine. No baby - but she said she's been decorating the nursery and keeps getting interrupted by visitors.

Sazz ooh cupboard locks! It's always fun to watch visiting adults try and work out how to get them open

Ilana loads of good luck and joyful baby and pain free thoughts (as in the spd GOING!!) for tomorrow!

Sausageandmash · 20/07/2008 19:11

Hi Buckets, and sorry Sazzles, didn't read your earlier post properly - sorry you too are having DH issues!

My DH has actually been a star this weekend but Buckets, your post reminded me of last time around, nigh on 4 years ago when, 2nd night in after an emergency c-section (first night passed by in a loved up state of bliss!), I got my entire baby blues in one dose.

I spent the entire night being ignored by the nurses or told to jolly well move my baby myself (I felt somewhat scared of dropping said child from the towering bed and too terrified to move very much in case my insides fell out - I understood the sentiment but the bedside manner and compassion chip were definitely missing!) but was bolstered by the thought that visiting started at 8am and that DH would be there, then, to love and support me, etc...........

...when he actually arrived at 8.20 - THAT"S TWENTY PAST EIGHT, 20 long, endless EXTRA minutes on my own in charge of a BABY for God's sake, it felt, as you said, like the absolute end of the world, and my rage and depression were neck and neck and pretty much boundless! Until about 8.30am. But by heck I needed him! Writing it down now reminds me of quite how hormonal I was - oh dear. But this time I will, of course, be the model of sage, mature(r) mother!

Sausageandmash · 20/07/2008 19:12

Sorry, it's an epic and me-type post. But it made me laugh remembering.

CaptainCaveman · 20/07/2008 19:31

lol sausage, I definately recall the crying on day 3, no rage for me though.

Well I got my lie-in, ds woke us up at 7.20 and dh got up with him at 7.40, I got up, made some cereal and a cup of tea, took them back to bed and read for 10 mins then SLEPT until 11.30. Bliss.

Had a lovely day, been to the park to feed the ducks and for ds to ride his bike. Lovely to get some fresh air. Had the odd pain on and off but they feel more like bh's today.

ts sorry to hear about your pil issues, and more so your dh. Does he not want his mum there or something? Your tears are valid, esp given the advanced state of pg!! Grrrrrrrr and double grrrrrrrr.

Iced water anyone? The tea is giving me heartburn so have cut right back on that too.

Hello - I know it's really late but can I jump on this one? Am expecting DC2 on the 17th August but am hoping I don't have to wait quite that long as am going off my nut being huge, immobile and having to look after DS1 (23 months) full time. Have lots of people started popping already?

ChaCha · 20/07/2008 19:59

Hi girls,

Just catching up. How is TS now? And had to smile at nod my head at those early baby days 'what do you mean you're going out?!? Ahhhh....when will you be back? Why? Work...why do you need to work' LOL

Thank you Sazzles and TS for your replies, made me feel better. I still don't want a section now though - too many needles and i think the 'brave' reserves have run out.

Ilana - Hope you post this evening to let us know how you're doing. Wishing you all the best for tomorrow, look fwd to baby news, am v.excited for you. Good luck

dizzydixies · 20/07/2008 20:06

evening all - have had a shit of a weekend but home again now and will try to catch up - nobody have a baby till I do please

PetitFilou1 · 20/07/2008 20:07

Just skimmed over the posts over the weekend....so

Ilana Good luck for Monday!

TS Sorry you are having a bit of an emotional rollercoaster time at the moment. Mil sounds as troublesome as my mil but I'd have the opposite problem - she'd come up like a flash and NEVER LEAVE. My mum on the other hand needs persuading (usually - see note below). It must be hard for you without your mum around at a time like this.

Chacha and Sarah (and anyone I've missed hope the cramps have dissapated a bit.

dizzy or VG How long does the figleaves code last and can I have it if it is still valid in a couple of weeks time? I'm not nursing bra buying until I am at least 36 weeks so can't order yet.

News from the filou camp - had a very nice time in Suffolk at my mums. I love seeing the sea and she's much better with them now that they are a bit older. However, I have now experienced the d&v whilst pregnant scenario which a lot of you seemed to go through earlier on - from eating a bad pistachio nut (I knew it was bad but rather than spit it out, swallowed it anyway to avoid being rude - turns out I should have been rude). Ds2 had had his first meal of the day just now which was marmite and toast - all I could stomach. Ds1 is worried and says 'mummy I hope you get better soon, the baby won't like the bad nut'. - he can be very sweet. Dh has been a star and pulled out all the stops to help me this evening as I have all the energy of a dead gnat.

If anyone needs cheering up try reading this - came home and dh started cooking the dc's tea (very late). I was upstairs. Dh came into the living room to find dd with a whole punnet of raspberries (most of which had gone) with half of them smeared on new carpet, and quite a lot on her new top. He flipped - poor dd said 'daddy I was SO hungry and I thought they would make me grow' and then burst into tears. Poor little sausage! It was 6.30pm by that time and they normally eat around 5pm so she really was hungry.

Back tomorrow as am off to bed to see if I can re-emerge hungry tomorrow. At least the fat stores around my hips are now being put to good use.....

Oh dear TS you must be barely sane by this stage. Has your MIL now arrived? I hope having her there will make things a lot easier & not cause too much tension between you & DH. You will at least be able to relax knowing that you can leave as and when you want. As someone else said, is poss that your DH was / is stressed by idea of having her there at all, but is a pity he couldn't be a bit more understanding of your needs and your DD's needs, with labour day looking so likely so soon. Hugs, and a slice and squeeze of lime for your rum. You must be nearly finished the bottle by now. xx

ChaCha for your unpleasant experience. Won't the hos. take your fear seriously & give you some sort of pre-section counselling or even a q&a session or something? Surely they can't put someone through major surgery who feels like this - would it be worth investigating, or having your DH investigate on your behalf? I don't know whether that's a practical solution or not.

dizzy good to see you. Made Malteser traybake thing for DS, he was in heaven and was also bouncing off the walls (so was I!!). It was good though. Tell about weekend.

pf I just got the code from MN, and amazingly it applied on TOP of the sale reductions!! Is also free postage in UK. I don't know how long it lasts. Any chance of an educated guess at sizing? But sale itself ends TODAY.

To sort dogs - back in a bit. Going to have glass of wine too, even though no excuse occasion, just blardy feel like it.

BabiesEverywhere · 20/07/2008 20:20

I am so tired today, I was up most of last night with bad brackon hicks which tailed off around 5am. Same again this afternoon /evening. As I'm only 37 weeks pregnant, guess I have weeks of hicks to look forward to

On the bright side the sun is out and I have finally got around to getting a tens machine and various other labour items.

ChaCha · 20/07/2008 20:28

Sazzles - Need any back up? Lots of hormonal women here to support you LOL.

PF - Your DD bless her!!!!!! Awwwwww...

DH is still doing DIY and asking where his cup of tea is so best be off. x

VG - That's a very good idea and i have an appt, one of those pre-assessment ones next Monday so perhaps i should take that opportunity to tell them how i feel. Thanks for that, i just keep thinking needles and wanting to pass out.

Tea...tea....tea

Buckets · 20/07/2008 20:37

S&M has just reminded me of another top tip:
What NOBODY tells you when you have a caesarean is that you need the bed lowered to get in and out eg to pick up your baby. If you've never had surgery before or worked in any kind of invalid environment, why would you know that??? Medical staff will pump it up to examine you (for their own spinal health) and not bother to let it down again.
Anyway, it's very easy for a visitor or passing cleaner (in the NHS? HAHAHAHAHAHA) to let it down for you with their foot so just shout for help.

ooh - thank you! Any guesses as to what size I should buy? Normally 32D, went up to 36E at about 24 weeks and have just kept in that (only cheap ones so they have strecthed with me I think!). I have no idea when the rib cage starts to go back in, but have bra extenders.....

PG1 get measured at John Lewis or your local NCT bra lady, buy the cheapest bra they do, then order more from Figleaves. You'll need more than one if everything goes well - one white, one black for a start.

That would be very sensible - I'm just getting carried away with the figleaves sale that ends today..... I do love a good bargain (but I guess it's not a bargain if I buy a size I'll never wear!)
