Yes please sazzles a cuppa would be lovely

Have spoken to dh on so many occasions and have recently said look i need your support, i need you to stick up for me when pil make these comments and are difficult, he has said he will but in the past he has just stuck his head in the sand, which as i'm sure you know makes you feel very isolated and unloved. Men! I feel sometimes that i have to jsut keep smiling sweetly at them, gritting my teeth when they make these comments/challenge/critice our decisions while he just sits there and plays mummy's boy

Morning guys, blimey some people are up early. longway - I would suggest raising it with the MW. I had a similar issue earlier in this pg - MW thought it was carpel tunnel and referred me to physio. Physio said it wasn't - but gave me wrist splints (which they tend to do with CT anyway I understand), which helped within a week.

Hard mattress can be a cause - also of pins and needles in arm/hand. We now have a tempur mattress - absolute bliss (unless you have to sleep anywhere but in your own bed, in which case you spend the whole time thinking how rubbish the other mattress is...).

sazzles, can i be really naughty and have coffee this morning? very much need it to prepare myself for a decontamination of the flea pit my house has become spring(?) clean which is likely to take all day

gigglegirl · 19/07/2008 09:31

morning all! Wedding anniversary today - my lovely Dad has got up with kids so DH and I are having a lovely lie in! Sadly I can't sleep and he is in an alcohol induced coma Grrrrrrrr!

Buckets · 19/07/2008 09:54

Had a great birthday spending spree on Pampered Chef stuff last night but soooo many comments on how small my bump is! Didn't help that there was a lady due 4 days before me who actually looked 8m pg (apparently I only look 6m). Forgive me ladies but I got a bit fed up and spitefully mentioned that I can still touch my toes, and now the bump has dropped I can get my foot on the bed-end and paint my own toenails again.

Sazzles, given your DH's and FIL's asparagus tendencies, your MIL may well have developed the whole speaking so decisively and also making decisions for them about things that just don't interest as as a way of dealing with them! She probably thinks that's what all 'young people' are like him, hence neither of you being trusted to choose a sensible name by yourselves LOL.
Can't think of an excuse for Bigboy's MIL though, sorry.

TS Glad you're getting some respite.

Morning ladies. Belly baby woke me just a few minutes ago. I think she was trying to climb out my side by pushing off my left hip bone. WTF!! Things are getting real cramped in there lately and I've figured out why the compare our lady bits to lotus flowers...."they bloom"...feels like my undercarriage has completely flipped inside out. Despite DH's hesitation I emailed MIL last night to come up and get settled in tomorrow. Just hope I hang in there until then. I hate this waking in the middle of the night wondering, is this it...who can watch DD right now....it's not like I'm going to have a long time to figure out our exit plan. With MIL in house, we just get up and go if necessary...end of story.

Longway, sounds like hard mattress issues. DH purchased a cushion topper for me when I was pregnant with DD1. Another idea would be to get two long body pillows, put them side by side and you lay sorta wedged in between them. OUR BETTER YET, set yourself up in a nice reclining chair for the duration.

I'll say it again, I can't believe you guys can lay on a mattress at this point anyway. I literally sleep sitting up. Pillows everywhere to keep me propped up.

Bigboy, if all you have is one hour to contend with....what are you worried about?? I thought they were truly visiting (like for HOURS or DAYS). Again if things become to unbearable, fake a cramp and go lay down with your door closed.

Happy belated birthday buckets 21 again? (like my good self of course)

happy anniversary giggle, I hope you make him pay for the 'alcoma'

sarah you are right, mummies always get up and sort the kid(s) out. Some kind of in-built-gene-sick-joke thing.

Dh also in alcoma - ds and I were up at 7....it's now 10.20 and lazy selfish bugger lovely dh is still snoring. Grrrrrr

Today I am going to ban myself from moaning.

TwilightSurfer · 19/07/2008 10:22

Anybody get the feeling Bealcain has given birth???

Have you checked FB today?

TwilightSurfer · 19/07/2008 10:27

yep just checked...no word...

CaptainCaveman · 19/07/2008 10:36

hmmm, it is a distinct possibility!

Woke in the night with a splitting headache - felt like someone had put a vice-like-headband around my head. Actually made me cry out! lol. dh slept through it. I did manage to get back to sleep eventually though so it can't have been that bad!

ChaCha · 19/07/2008 11:20

Morning ladies,
Arriving in time for brunch it seems!

Oh Sarahn, you made me giggle! I was up with DS2 after 6am and with all the noise he was making with toys he woke DS1 so had the two of them to entertain before i even got a cup of much needed tea. I made more noise than the DC in an attempt to wake DH which finally worked at around 9am Mustn't complain as he has now taken them to the park so have 3 sets of tracks to build ready for them to play on return so that we can get a little of the DIY finished.

CC - Sounding more upbeat this morning Can i be one of those really annoying people with the really annoying comment of 'not long to go now then'
Are you counting the days? I know that i am. Tis keeping me sane!

TS - Guaranteed that with your MIL arriving you will have little anxieties. The fact that you can just go at any time of day or night now with the reassurance of her being there with DD is going to make everything easier for you. I am with you on the sleeping upright - that's how i fall asleep usually. If i feel uncomfortable on one of 3 beds (2 mattresses replaced last week and still no comfort) I sit on the rocking chair which is bliss...problem is waking up to head hanging to one side & v.stiff, still sleep is sleep in any form.

Buckets - at annoying comments - ppl just have to do it! With all 3 pregnancies i've had 'you're so neat' and 'you're all just baby' to which i reply 'yes, it's great isn't it' - with v.big smile.

ALBS & ILANA - Are you out there guys? Ilana is probably resting as much as she can...? Albs is nesting....Bealcain - hmmm, nope don't think she's there yet.

Happy Anniversary GG - Hope you have a great day. Ours is next week as is DH's b'day - haven't a clue as to what to get for either.

Sazzles - [waves]

Agree with whoever said DH can do entertaining too when it comes to ILs (sorry cant remember who said that) - my MIL was actually very stroppy a few weekends ago because i told them i wasn't coming to park/lunch with them 'but why ever not?' was her reply 'because i'm v.tired and would appreciate some time alone after a long week with the DC' 'oooooh...so what will you do then?' 'Em...sleep perhaps or just rest' DH had to actually explain to her in car why i didn't want to come AGAIN.
I've always gotten on v.well with my ILs but since having children things have changed. I also think my expectations have changed. Best stop there. Is one of those subjects!

Hello to everyone else. Ataraxis - Spring cleaning sounds good, just wish i was able to do it!

x

I'm here, i'm here.
Doing quite a lot of resting and not a lot of nesting. This morn dd was a star and after dh went into her as usual and gave her books to read (it's always been how she entertains herself in the morn), she stayed in bed for a good while, then came into us just before 8, burrowed in our bed for a bit, then her and dh got up, had brekkie, watching walking with dinosaurs (they like dinsosaurs A LOT) and have gone off to some random parishioner's garden party. All the while leaving me in bed. I have to admit that dh is being fab. I coped with yesterday (dd at home all day) and Thurs (friends over in am then HIgh school musical over the other side of london in the afternoon) - just about. Later on dd has a rainbows thing, and i think dh will take her, bring the car back, go off to another churchy duty then I'll go and collect her......

Think have given up on life til baby comes. Feel so sick, tired, fed up, achey etc etc. I love bed!

Had a comical moment (in hindsight) yesterday. Dd had been painting. She was washing her hands sfterwards and I went to the loo... panicked when I saw red on the loo roll... then realised it was just paint i had on my hands .

I think I'm not going to manage to catch up on the thread - but bigboy good luck with the visitors today. grr grr. grr at them.

oh and I've had the painful hands thing too -only at night - cos my hands are all squished up under me cos of lying on my side. Blardy hurts though.

alittlebitshy · 19/07/2008 14:17

I think I might have killed the thread

ChaCha · 19/07/2008 14:27

...either that or everyone is having a baby!!!!!....

Hi Albs - imagine with it being weekend some of us are taking advantage of DH's/DP's/relatives etc.. or spring cleaning/DIY

I am sat watching DH put the cabinets together, our DC are still napping....bliss!

Cyteen - Hope you are well today x

alittlebitshy · 19/07/2008 14:43

My dh has taken dd to her rainbow picninc (glad i checked - I thought it was just a random afternoon thing - she'd have been distraught if she'd turned up with no food ) and i think is picking up some ink cartridges from a shop before he goes off to his other parish thing.

Have been reading some bf threads - am wondering how bf will be this time. Really struggled with dd and ended up mixed feeding - am detrnined to last longer this time.... I didn;t have MN last time though .

poppysocks · 19/07/2008 15:07

Early morning all round here it seems! Not too horrendous here and then off to return my Mum to the train station. Then back to bed. Tried not to sleep too long so I won't be awake all night tonight and have managed some much needed sorting and tidying - not that it's very noticeable.

DH and I had a great night away while Granny babysat. Was SO good. Great weather, managed a decent walk with DH and had fab food etc. Terrifying to know that that is that on the indulgent 'us' front for the forseeable. Finally decided on a name though and I think the combination of both means that I'm starting to feel ready for this. Impatient even... Eeek!

Cannot believe there are still no babies here! (Or are there, Bealcain, TS????) Mucho sympathy to everyone having sleep issues. Me too and I don't even have the excuse of contractions, badly sleeping children or any of the other horrible pg related aches and pains that you ladies have opened my eyes too. Hope all DPs/DHs are now in full pampering mode.

Dizzy - How are things with your Mum? Hope all ok. Will be trying that Malteser tray bake recipe soon!

Sorry to be rather me, me here. 4 days away is just impossible to catch up on! Sorry if I've missed anything important. Lots more CS dates it seems though - so exciting! Hope everyone's hanging in there ok.

IlanaK · 19/07/2008 15:27

Ok, am definately in a panic now. I have to be at the hospital 8:30am monday morning (less than two days!) for csection. I have been so focused on the pain and being done with it, that I have not focused on the baby at all!

So, any last minute tips and reassurance gratefully received. I think I am packed and ready. There is only one thing I am not sure on: I don't need spare clothes for me do I? I assume that if I put on clean clothes MOnday morning, I can come home in them when I leave? I can't remember if I wore clothes in hospital last time or just pyjamas. I am hoping to be home after one night, but it may be two.

Any thoughts and calming words??
