  1. Let the hospital staff do it on the day if your DP too chicken.
2.Catheter out honestly doesn't hurt.
  1. Pack peppermint teabags for post-op trapped wind, breastfeeding pillow might be nice to protect wound. I'm not packing shampoo, just shower gel, as you can wash your hair the day before and you won't get as sweaty as normal! I'm banking on 2 nights in hospital for my elCS.
4.Newborn size babygrows will probably be fine (how early will you be I've forgtten?) 5.Don't know about private rooms but am farming my kids out for the night before and first night. DD is 5 and I don't mind her coming in but DS(3) would be a nightmare.
  1. Am struggling trying to find exact discontinued changing bag I used to have, nothing else will do! Have found similar on Ebay but would you pay £7 for a used bag?
10. My DH just got a bar of chocolate for this year's anniversary!
Buckets · 18/07/2008 11:34

Oh only 38wks, you'll be fine with NB clothes - my DS was 38+5 and weighed 9lb!

stillhere · 18/07/2008 11:50

TS and everyone else having contractions .

ChaCha I've had that weird pins and needles belly button thing - in fact my whole belly button area has been extremely odd during most of this pregnancy - and it being sore to the touch. Ouch. Think it's something to do with the fact that the whole area is only supported by one floppy paperclip or something after you've had your first. Further confirmation that God is obviously a man. (And related to my other theory, developed after my having my first, that the majority of baby-related products are developed by midget men called Hans in a basement in Germany.)

All okay here but... still no kitchen/living room/radiators etc. etc. But at least I have maternity pads and Lansinoh, so things are looking up eh?! I remember very vividly the first time I looked at the NCT catalogue and realised that bubs gets all the lovely cute stuff and our section is full of delightful cooling arse rings and post-surgical trickery. (See earlier para: God is still a man etc.)

Realise I have just blethered on meaninglessly about nothing again - hope all are having a good day and remember we should all be grateful that the weather is crap delightfully cool so our thankles aren't turning into treetrankles? megathankles? Something worse than thankles. Happy days.

ataraxis · 18/07/2008 12:14

Hi all,

buckets - on my face this morning...

chacha - Bury Knowle - that brings back memories! Does it still have a library there?

still here, you make me feel marginally more organised! We do at least have kitchen/bathroom, if not a (finished) - baby room, DS2 room, hall, landing/furniture for these rooms... but the painting has started and the radiators will be on soon. Just need some doors now! I am figuring that a travel cot will do worst case scenario!
but delightful cooling arse rings? for whom?!

TS, hope you are doing ok despite it all.

Sorry to everyone that is feeling rubbish - not long to go (before sleepless nights, dirty nappies... and loads of lovely cuddles!).

ChaCha · 18/07/2008 12:16

WARNING: Big MEEEEEEE post!!!!!

GG - Wondered where you were...great date too! She offered me the 31st or 1st and i actually asked for the 1st - don't know why really, perhaps wanted it to still be August. Anyway, delivery suite said 31st so that was that. You have so much going on!!! Buckets has good replies there, must remember the teabags too.

Ax - Yup library still there although not the one we visit.

Sazzles - LOL at snail encounter.

Finally getting through to DH's mobile....

ChaCha · 18/07/2008 12:34

More than relief - I am really trying to eat humble pie for the sake of my sanity and all those around me but I am honestly struggling just trying to be upbeat as I hate hearing myself moan and groan and just want to get on with it.
Have just told DH who was extremely happy if not a tad concerned about it being too early but consultant did say any earlier was a no-no and that date was fine.
No beds in hospital yet so another call at 4pm to see if i can go for iron then. Can't wait to be 'normal' ish again. ]

Anyone for slice of pizza and an appletise (being the classy chick that i am)?

stillhere · 18/07/2008 12:47

[arse ring alert]

ataraxis from what I remember (and bear in mind I flicked the page pretty sharpish...can't think why ) these delightful objects are for sore arsed new mums to chill out on (gel-filled) to help stitches etc. heal. Hoorah. We really get the fun end of the deal.

ChaCha congrats on date - and a big slice of pizza for me please. Extra olives.

VintageGardenia · 18/07/2008 13:30

Sympathie to you contracting girls. Sounds so uncomfortable & seems so unfair for it to go on for so long before real labour. I am guessing a lot of rest is necessary or you guys will be wrecked by the time the day itself comes. Hugs to you.

ChaCha I know it's not been easy for you but congrats on your section date. That's Thursday fortnight! This time two weeks you'll have your baby in your arms. And gigglegirl you are the next day. They are stacking up now! What does PGP mean? Can't believe you are organising a barbecue for 30 at this late stage, but your DC will appreciate you! Hope you aren't in too much pain today.

LOL Sazzles at snail / Dunkirk

Had fab dinner last night, was in at 2 then up early for cons. this am. Said baby's head was engaged which is good. Luckily whatever spd discomfort I have been having has eased greatly since giving up work - can I just say again to anyone in diffs and still working - give up as soon as ever you can!!

AnnVan · 18/07/2008 14:09

Hi all! TS-sorry to here you're still struggling, nothing for it but to keep soldiering on
Can't believe some ladies are stillworking, I gave up as soon as I could, and am so glad of it. Still struggling with lack o sleep, just don't knowwhat to do.

gigglegirl · 18/07/2008 14:21

i am about to have a total meltdown
am really irritable with the kids and can't help myself - I can hear my vouce sounded like one of those mums I hate but I just can't help myslef.

and.... DH just phoned decorater to ask what time he was coming round to drop stuff off for tomorrow and he's not coming - job has run over! He can't do next weekend and can only do Thursday/Friday next week but the plumbers will still be here doing the bathroom. Carpets are being fitted on the Monday and new doors on the Tuesday. And after decorater has lined hall stairs and landing it still all needs glossing and emulsioning. So my hope for finished hall stairs and landing and bathroom my the 29th will prob now be finished bathroom (god willing) carpeted hall, stairs and landing and new doors, all to be ruined when hall is lined and then paiting won't be done for another two years at least - but all the equipment will remain stacked up and the coat hooks and fixtures won't be put back up meaning it will be worse than normal!

It's ok DH started all this in Feb - and it was going to be done in a week!!!9Not the bathroom but the rest!!)

I HATE MEN (actually he's been great over the past few weeks - just his previous slackness catching up with him!)

PGP is Pelvic Girdle Pain

don't care what it is called it hurts!

BBQ is joint party - shouldn't be too bad as all for friends they know what I am like and will all help - thank god I've got mum and dad nearby as we will probably have to relocate here as you can't have 30 people round and no loo! Have got woman coming to build a bear with them all and she does party games and everything. Have bought cake from Costco - am waiting for DH to tell me we can go and collect (supposed to have gone at 11!!!) and we are keeping food simple - well I am - DH likes going OTT.

Playscheme starts day before section so I won't be there as premed booked for same time but friends help run it so should be ok

ok opinion - what do I tell DC about C-Scetion. More for DD1 as she remembers DS2 being born and taht I nipped out for a few hours and then came home - same as all my firnds that have had babies recently. They have adapted pretty well to me on crutches and are pretty stable kids. but, i don't know what I should tell them now espec as I may be sore when I come home.

anyone know of any good books?

Buckets · 18/07/2008 16:34

OMG Ilana is having her baby on Monday guys!!!

Good news for me too, having chased up my maternity allowance app and found they'd got my NI number wrong and hadn't touched it in 6wks. Not only have they turned it around in 2 days, my half-arsed estimate has turned out to be half as much as I was eligible for so I am officially loaded (for someone who only worked 1 day a week.)
Plus got a cheque from our old mortgage company as we had apparently overpaid them after remortgaging. Not going to mention that to DH, will just pay it in myself, don't want him thinking the unemployment fund is that big. Yesterday he had heard a rumour that there would be jobs at a nearer office very soon so I am pussyfooting around him until the baby comes while he makes up his mind. Seems like everyday he has a different plan, think I'll just have to stop listening or I will go mad!

GG Just say that sometimes mummies have to have their tummies unzipped!

CaptainCaveman · 18/07/2008 17:15

Had a few period type pains on and off today, no more than about 6 in total . Enough to make me stop and think and count how long they last for (up to around 90 secs). Pains not accompanied by BHs. I think I am bored.

Congrats to new cs dates Not long now!!

Sausageandmash · 18/07/2008 17:40

Hi all,

I've been away since last week or so but just wanted to dip and say hello. Hope all is well and people aren't feeling to 'trepidatious' - I'm sure that's NOT a word, but it FEELS right.

This bump (nearly 35 weeks) seems to be resolutely breech still so may be joining the growing band of Elective C-Secs. A week or so to go and then I have another scan at which time, I guess, they tell me C-sec or VBAC. Lap of the Gods, I suppose!

I just can't believe that, all being well, I'll actually have a baby soon. I must get round to ordering the moses basket and doing a hospital bag.

On that note, is there a checklist that you've all been working from (absolutely sure it's been on a thread before but ..... which one!)

Sorry if all this has been said in the last few days - I just haven't had a chance to catch up properly.

Buckets · 18/07/2008 17:58

Sigh. Just as an example of my husband's constantly changing job plans, apparently now he is back to applying for condensed hours but also has decided it's worth a punt to ask for voluntary redundancy. Fine, either of those I would be happy with.

I'm off to a Pampered Chef party tonight and he is footing the bill for my birthday pressie. I'm so excited!

Shazza2002 · 18/07/2008 19:11

Evening ladies

I keep trying to catch up but can't, so thought it best not to mention anybody as don't want to offend anybody that I forget

But have to mention chacha CS date, that's a great date that happens to be my birthday

ChaCha · 18/07/2008 19:35

Hey GG - It sounds like you have an awful lot on at the moment - you need to put your feet up and have some quiet time, maybe when the kids are in bed? As i've mentioned before my DC seem in denial but then they are both under 3 - sure the others will have a better reply. Will be quite something seeing their faces when they come to visit me lol!

Buckets - Have a lovely time!
Shazza - Oooooohhhh...same birthdays then...great!

Had my 2nd infusion, was v.difficult to get needle thingy in, i wasn't so brave today. On the plus side the m/w who is amazing was same m/w who was with me during the evening of having DS2, she topped me up well and really looked after me. Today she offered me paracetemol, sandwich, tea, was v.nice and told me that she'd be on the ward when i have the baby and made a note - yipppeeee!! Am v.happy.

Still can't walk today and mum has just left hope SPD sufferers are getting some kind of respite. Talk later x

Cyteen - Hoping tomorrow is okay for you x
