Sazzles lol at filling up in the petrol station in pjs - I think its brilliant! Who cares what anyone thinks.

Re the boob conversation, I don't mind them being fiddled with but any mouth action feels completely, totally wrong. I think dh got the message a long time ago as he doesn't go there anymore. It hasn't affected us in any way though, when we get around to it I'm very happy with the bedroom situation, it just isn't quite as often as it might be

ataraxis I'm in Marcham, in a barn conversion at the end of a modern estate - always gets the reaction of 'you don't expect to find this here do you?' Dh works at the JR but also needs easy access to London so a good location for us.

TS You are not being a bother to anyone - the way things are going is not your fault, just your body's particular response to labour second time round. I am sure your dad and dh understand.

ataraxis · 17/07/2008 21:14

Well, as you had brushed your hair, what is anyone complaining about? Sounds like you looked fab

PetitFilou1 · 17/07/2008 21:16

Sazzles sounds fine to me! Just call it 'lounge wear' and then its ok

Right got to go and pack for journey to Suffolk tomorrow. My mother has rather hilariously said it'll be ok if I go into labour as my stepdad and dh can deliver the baby together. A premature, possible breech homebirth - I think not. And....I do not want my step father looking at my bits, not in any circumstances (even if he is qualified to do so)

ataraxis · 17/07/2008 21:18

pf - totally, totally with you on all counts.
I grew up in headington - Lil bro was born in the JR (first memory of him - weeing all over my mum ). I guess people's comments about the house are a compliment

ataraxis · 17/07/2008 21:21

pf, have fun! You are close to me in dates and are not under any circumstances to have the baby this early.

ataraxis Yes, I think the comments about the house are a compliment - it isn't like the other houses! Not planning on having ds2 this weekend so don't worry!

Sazzles 6ft8 ! lol. Stepdad has 25 years GP experience but actually hasn't done any clinical work for some time now. Still, at least he wouldn't be getting a crane out I really am going now - am SO tired. Have bought some spatone from Waitrose to see if that helps but I don't know if you can take it with Pregnacare as well - don't want to OD on the iron! Anyone know if you can take the two together? Am a semi vegetarian so iron levels only just ok (even iwth the Pregnacare)

Cheers here about NO FAM in the DELIVERY ROOM...especially male family members. OOOOO NOOOOOOO!!!

Thanks for the kind words. Still can't believe I FEEL the way I FEEL and nothing is happening. Send my dad home and DH took DD out for a drive. Before DH left he said as far as work is concerned this weekend is the best possible time to have the baby. I lifted up my shirt and said TALK TO THE BELLY!!

Sazzles, I go out in PJ's all the time now and don't really care one bit. I do make sure my hair looks nice and wavy, put a little cherry chapstick on my lips, and smile alot while rubbing the old bump. Figure there's only one other time I can get away with such luxury and that's when I'm old and senile.

So if these aren't "real" contractions, mearly Braxton Hicks....HOW LONG CAN THIS GO ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!?

morning everyone....

had the night from hell.. went to bed early, woke up at 12.30am and was awake til after 3!!! shattered now...

TS you have my complete sympathies.. i am in the the exact same boat.. keep getting contractions, cannot time them as they are too irregular, loads of pressure and pelvis definitely stretching but no waters breaking, no blood.. if this keeps going for the next three weeks i will go in sane... saw someone i haven't seen a few weeks yesterday and she said ohhh you dropped so much it will definitely happen in the next day or two hmmmmmmmm how are they suspose to know!!!

Anyway dd looking for my attention.. Sazzle if you are up got the big pot of tea on the go already so help yourself and anyone else up xxxx

Buckets · 18/07/2008 08:05

Sorry TS I had 2weeks of contractions and back pain with DD! Are you having lots of warm baths?

Sazzles, totally out of curiosity, are the Royal Engineers actually engineers? Or is it a very misleading title, like the Life Guards? Just that Aspergers and engineeering often go hand in hand and was chuckling at the idea of a whole company of Aspies. What must the social events be like for the poor wives?

oopsacoconut · 18/07/2008 08:41

Morning All

Can i offer you some tea? toast? Freshly baked croissant?

Feeling fantatic this morning - DH kindly went to sleep in the spare room and the difference now having tosquash my pillows into half of the bed was amazing - still woke evey couple ofhours but not having to fight with someone else made such a difference.

Sazzles your family birth made me giggle - My FIL is an archeology buff imagining him delivering my baby is just scary!

TS how are you getting on - m/wife from the hospital popped in on her way from work last night to check on me as they hadn't heard from community team. She asked if mine were BH or proper contractions How was I supposed to know?? She said BH are mainly at the top/front of the bump but real ones are whole bump and back. So one more thing for me to try andfocus on whilst getting on with my daily life.

Going to Cambridge this this weekend DH is going to be Godfather to his cousin's twins. He is petrified he will drop one of them. Ahh and names to add to your lists: Aurora Susannah Christina and Rosabella Antonia Maria then a double barreled surname Why do I feel worried for these girls when they start school. INdividually they are okay names but all together it seemsalittle much! Feel free to disagree.

Good morning all, any tea left?

What's knitting needle thing? I had pins and needles feeling over my bump last night - anyone had that?

Hope everyone is okayish. Just checking in, got another iron infusion later and a LOT of DIY we'd let to get through before mum leaves this evening.

Ataraxis - That's a 20 minute walk from home - I often walk to Bury Knowle with the DC and it's good to have the JR so closeby.

Have a good day all. x

CaptainCaveman · 18/07/2008 09:53

Morning ladies, we managed a 'lie-in' (or a lion as ds calls it) until 8am! Although ds arrived in our bed around 4.30 asking me to read Mr Men books to him - errrr, no. So have had a slither of bed for the last 4 hours. Rather splendiferous rib pain all night too . Hey ho, only 19 days to go.

I can't believe no-one has had a baby yet! Out of our list of however many ladies due in August, we are still all cooking - is that some kind of mn record? (sure ts will have the entire mn stats somewhere ).

Talking of ts how are you doing today? Hoping you managed some rest/sleep?

I keep thinking - how would I know if I was in labour? Given that the cons says to go straight in to hosp if I go into labour. I have visions of me turning up only for them to say "for the 5th time Mrs CC, it's just wind!" I'm sure there is no mistaking it but having never been there I just don't know!!

Buckets · 18/07/2008 10:26

I am shocked and slightly concerned. Thought I'd better go and see what DS(3) was up to as it was suspiciously quiet, started to panic as no sign of him downstairs, have just found him fast asleep in his bed!!! He does have a teatowel stuffed up his jumper (favourite joke at the moment) so perhaps he was hiding and waiting for me to come and find him and dozed off. Didn't seem tired or off colour earlier anyway.

We've decided to take a bold step and take both kids to see Wall-e tomorrow as DS doesn't normally notice adverts but Wall-e seems to have caught his imagination. Think we might at last have a slim chance of all 4 of us spending the whole film inside the auditorium, given enough popcorn.

Buckets · 18/07/2008 10:27

CC you just come on here and ask us of course, we'll be able to tell how dilated you are by the tone of your grammar.

TwilightSurfer · 18/07/2008 10:37

Hi! OJ and Toast anyone? 5AM here. I "think" I slept through the night. Very of those still sleeping in a bed. Attempted, again, to do that last night but was back on the sofa in an upright seated position by 9:30PM. 9:30PM!! That's the first time this household has gone to sleep that early in MONTHS. I think yesterday was a bit much for us all.

Sarah dear if you and I are in the same boat then we are obviously on shit creek without paddles. THIS SUCKS!! The whole dropping thing is so real but the kid just won't drop on out. And PAINFUL is an understatement. This morning she wiggled even lower and my hips are probably twice as far apart as they are normally. I want to "do" something/anything but walking is sooo uncomfortable....feels like my lady area has dropped to knee level (not a sexy image) and might fall off with too much leg movement.

Buckets thanks for the warm bath suggestion but it's hard enough to get out of a chair. I can see me stuck in the bath all day floundering like a turtle on it's shell. Warm showers I have been able to manage though.

Oops my contractions were whole belly, wrapping all the way around from time to time BUT I could speak through them. Seems you're not suppose to count contractions you can speak through. So somebody needs to do a better job of getting that word and maybe properly naming these annoying yet scary processes. My thoughts are this: Pinches...when your stomach squeezes tight randomly causing mild discomfort, Tidal waves...when your stomach squeezes tight alot but with no good rhythm causing alot of discomfort, Tsunami...tummy tightens causing much distress causing you to gasp for air with much difficulty speaking, and finally the Earthquake...tummy siezes up throwing you head to knee causing you to twist the hand/arm off of any human within reach while your face turns completely red and lovely voice turns into a primal scream. I guess I'm only having Tidal Waves!!

Oh and the knitting needle thing, I describe it more like my own personal internal Freddy Kruger....sometimes she pokes sometimes she runs all five finger-knives around my insides.

Morning all,

Sympathies to all the irregular contractors - be strong!

Had a stupid episode last night where I convinced myself I was developing pre-eclampsia...of course it was just a bad headache that cleared up with paracetamol Funny how things seem so much more catastrophic at 3 in the morning, eh?

Buckets · 18/07/2008 10:51

Is the knitting needle thing like the turning of a rusty tin lid on an old pickle jar? And getting pinched in the process? I get that quite a bit, assume it must be a head swivelling on my cervix.

Hope you guys have a better day today ((hugs)).

gigglegirl · 18/07/2008 11:01

hello all,

Sorry I haven't been around much - PC problems, no bathroom and a generally crap week have resulted in no giggles from me!

Have finally seen teh physio who was lovely but said my SPD or PGP as they now call it was very severe and that there was no way I coul dhave a natural delivery. As a result yesterday my consultant looked at me and just said you really are totally buggered this time aren't you! It was actually said quite nicely and he helped me walk outof the hospital himslef which was nice! Anyway I am booked in for a section on 1st Aug at 7:30am and am starting to feel very nervous about it!

I have to go in on the Weds for first steroid injections, tehn on the Thursday for 2nd set of steroids and pre-op. Then baby will arrive on the Friday, I am guessing sometime in teh morning.

So now I have a new set of stresses to along with my already manic brain:

  1. what am I going to do about shaving, hair removal on teh bikini line (which I haven't seen or tended to for........ too long!)
  2. A catheter - yuck and it being taken out - ouch!
  3. I have still not packed my bag or ourchsed what is required!
  4. Will I need early baby baygrows?
  5. Will there be any chance of a private room so my DC can visit without me getting stressed about them disturbing anyon else.
  6. Will I ever be able to go home to a finished bathroom an carpet (at the mo we are camped out at ma and pas!)
  7. WIll I ever finsih work (was meant to on weds but....)
  8. Will this pain ever ever go away?
  9. Will I ever but the chaging bag and other bits that I really really want!

Answers on a postcard please!

Oh and have a BBQ for 30 on Sunday for DD bday and DS2 bday, have still got a load of stuff to do for the playscheme and it is my wedding anniversary tmw and I we're not going away and nor have I bought DH anything - not even a card!
