cheerfulvicky · 15/07/2008 12:30

ataraxis, in the same boat as you with the nursery. Think DP has been in denial so far but with 5 weeks to go we had a little 'chat' and he is reluctantly starting the loooong process of doing up the back room.
I'd be climbing the (unsanded, unpainted) walls if the baby wasn't going to be in our room to start with anyway

Hope everyone is well, and sorry for being crap at posting here. The date date aproacheth and I find myself a bit wobbly and sticking closer to MN than before

CaptainCaveman · 15/07/2008 13:01

Deffo feeling much better today, and I'm glad to hear so many of us are too.

Had a lovely walk (45 mins) and you're right chacha I should be grateful that I can do that. It was marvellous. Just about to peg washing out (which has just been washed for the 2nd time because I forgot about it the other day and left it in the machine!). Then I plan to find a recipe for some home made soup, have a kip, go to supermarket, buy ingredients (plus essential Heat magazine), then make said soup. Phew. Need a lie down just thinking about it!!

bealcain it very much sounds like this lo is on their way out - do you feel ready?

Buckets · 15/07/2008 13:07

LOL the soup's not for post-natal period, me and DS will probably have it for lunch everyday this week as DH and DD hate soup passionately.

Have just taken out a banana and coconut cake from the oven, hung the washing up, done my wee for this afternoon's consultant appt and that is definitely that. Time for a coffee before my folks come to sit DS (and trim hedges and probably tidy my house bless 'em.) Get my CSection date today yippee (am 36wks today.)

(NB the cake is our dinner tonight!)

cyteen · 15/07/2008 13:12

cheerfulvicky and ataraxis check my post a few pages back about the state of our nursery if you want to feel better...it's still very much a spare room with bags of charity shop clothing, stuff in boxes and random baby equipment strewn all over it Since baby will be in with us to start with, we haven't bothered getting round to sorting it out - are we stupid and/or mad?

Further evidence of DP's angelic status - he's emptied the cat tray and rearranged the plates in the cupboard so they actually fit rather than stacking up against each other He must have been really bored this morning!

I'm going to make jerk paneer kebabs and salad for tea, make the most of the sunshine. Indeed, I might even stretch to banana and maple syrup pancakes for pud if we've got the necessary stuff in

cyteen · 15/07/2008 13:14

Ooh Buckets have you got a recipe for that banana and coconut cake? I've got a bunch of five going brown in the vegetable rack, and am a bit bored of my usual banana cake solution.

AnnVan · 15/07/2008 13:33

Hello all, sound like everyone's feeling a bit perkier, and being quite domestic. i too will be cooking, am going to make a BIG batch o bolognese sauce. Some for dinner tonight and the rest will be frozen for easy meals. I've actually been up since well before noon I am knackered but hopefully this will help sort out my sleeping pattern. I have been furiously crocheting the baby blanket in an effort to stay awake!

CC did you get my email?

AnnVan · 15/07/2008 13:35

Ataraxis - very of holiday. I haven't been on holiday since sumer 2005 when I went to New Orleans (impeccable timing on that one got home three days before hurricane Katrina hit)

Buckets · 15/07/2008 13:40

Cyteen, will test the cake first, it might be awful!

cyteen · 15/07/2008 13:55

lol Surely not, we're all domestic goddesses on here aren't we?

TwilightSurfer · 15/07/2008 14:22

Sitting on pins and needles here waiting to hear more from Bealcain.

VG, we're not going to let DD know she's going to a therapist....she'll be going over to Miss Kim's (the therapist) for a playdate because she has some really cool toys and they'll talk and play. This lady is suppose to be AMAZING with the little ones.

While everyone is being domestic today feel free to make an extra freezer something and send it over. I'm refusing to do any pre-cooking. Just don't have it in me.

OP posts:
dizzydixies · 15/07/2008 14:33

and at all the domestic chores going on today - we had a complete SHIT (excuse language but I have to stress how shite it really was) night with the girls and dd2 was up at 4am and dd2 at 6am

dh was a complete star though as my nose was going all night and he sorted the girls and took them to nursery for 8am bless him

was late for scan but everything fine, baby head down and funnily enough still big! bloods all fine and diabetic team happy enough with me that they don't feel the need to see me again

back in to for antenatal clinic 2 weeks today and if I haven't gone by then (as thats the day before my due date) I'll be getting sectioned on the 30th

why didn't anybody warn me that I'm actually going to have this baby

anyone, seriously - I think am in need of a serious chat

VG very envious of massage, sounds just lovely

poppysocks am pmsl @ your dd1 and Elvis on the trampolines!! DD1 is away to the botanical gardens with my friend and her boys this afternoon whilst dh and dd2 snooze

sazz very envious of pjs at midday!

TS am sorry you're so worried about dd1 sweetie but am sure she'll be a complete trooper once Reese is actually here and will love being the big sister and helping mummy - have you organised a wee bag for baby to give to her when she's born or chosen something special for her to bring in when she visits? Am sorry I can't think of anything more productive to help

buckets do you have something particular in mind? favourites in this house is malteser tray bake and crispies tray bake obviously but if you'd like something fruity or crumbly/oaty - let me know and I'll look something out

IlanaK a week?!? a week?!?!? good lordy its all happening now isn't it!

atraxis welcome home, glad you had a lovely holiday

bealcain help me out here please and just make the decision for me - closer carrier or moby?!

right ladies, apparently I'm having a baby in a few weeks so I'd better get my lardy arse in gear and get some stuff sorted in the house

you've all shamed me into it with your washing/ccoking/baking chat (although I fear I may fall into the sod it and open a bottle of wine camp that was also mentioned )

dizzydixies · 15/07/2008 14:39

lordy - apologies for mammoth post

buckets loads of receipes/links on here but I have nice ones using raspberries etc if you still want something a bit different

traybakes

alittlebitshy · 15/07/2008 15:07

ugh - was v horribly sick just as I was about to go out the door to collect dd earlier. NOT happy

TwilightSurfer · 15/07/2008 15:10

Dizzy {{{hugs}}} thanks for the kind words. YES gift organized...DD will be getting a BARBIE JEEP. Not quite what I originally had in mind BUT I didn't plan for DD to get so emotional. Now the plan is to tell her I'm going "shopping" with my friend Brenda instead of going to have a baby. When she asks why it's taking so long everyone is to tell her I'm looking high and low for the special BARBIE JEEP that she so dearly wants. She's already aware there's a "shopping trip" planned and is totally THRILLED. It's the first time she's been happy and excited since Saturday. I think she'll be fine once I'm home it's just the seperation and the thought of what the seperation is for that's of concern...she's NEVER been away from me for more than a few hours (and never over night).

TwilightSurfer · 15/07/2008 15:12

Dizzy...should have read {{{hugs}}} and thanks.

ALBS, I barfed my breakfast too. Oh the joys!!!

OP posts:
ChaCha · 15/07/2008 15:14

ALBS - Oh sorry to hear that, had you had a nap by any chance? Since week 5 I vomit every afternoon post nap. Don't want to ask too many 'sicky' questions but hoping you are ok, tis horrible being sick at this stage.

Buckets - Waiting to hear your date

dizzydixies · 15/07/2008 15:19

chacha I read that as 'since week 51!!!!'
serves me right for skimming

TS am glad she's a bit more excited, mine are used to being away from me (shift work is pants) so frankly won't notice for a wee while

ALBS sorry you're not feeling great {{hugs}}

PetitFilou1 · 15/07/2008 15:49

ChaCha and Bealcain You are definitely hardcore as I will only have 3 under 5s. I suspect that will be easy in comparison- let me know! Did you know that the number of children a mother has under 5 is an indicator of her mental health?

Update on my lo - I am 4/5ths engaged. I said to mw that I thought I was and that people had commented that the bump had dropped. Her response was 'and are they midwives?' I did have to smile inwardly at that one but even more so when she found that ds2 WAS engaged. She was clearly very experienced and she couldn't tell whether ds2 was breech or not so I am going to the ECV clinic at 37 weeks. She said I have got two babies out through my pelvis though so breech or not she thought it would still be fine to have a homebirth. Dh will FREAK if I tell him that so I will save that nugget

PetitFilou1 · 15/07/2008 15:50

PS Sorry for all those throwing up their breakfast/lunch/dinner! Not pleasant.

Buckets · 15/07/2008 17:07

Hurrah I have my date, 3wks today!!! 5th August, which is also my sister's birthday and means I can go to DH's ukelele jam and hilarious open mic night on 4th while kids are farmed out. Got weighed and have put on 10Kg in 20wks - is that a lot or not?

PF How can you be engaged if she doesn't know where the head is? Does she think it might be a bum that's engaged?

Dizzy, thanks, it was the malteser one that had me going.

ChaCha · 15/07/2008 17:18

Buckets - Congratulations, that's the day after me!! Hurray! Doesn't it feel good to have a date now.

PF - What does that mean then lol? Does it mean that i'm officially a nutter? Always knew it just needed confirming.

DD - Am dying to try those traybakes....

Back has totally gone and although i've stuck my head round the grumpy corner a good few times I am fighting it till DH is home. Cannot walk at all and trying to get DS2 down the stairs was hilarious as was nappy change...am going to sit here till he gets home. Pls remind me to keep painkillers downstairs for times like these...ahhhh!!

Sazzles - Hope you are having a lovely afternoon.

Buckets · 15/07/2008 17:47

Chacha Hurray for CBeebies eh? Poor you, do you have a wheelie computer chair you can scoot about on?

Banana Coconut Cake
115g butter
115g caster sugar
2 eggs
115g SR flour
50g plain flour
1tsp bicarb of soda
120ml milk
2 large bananas mashed (I used 1 banana 1 apple)
75g dessicated coconut
Icing
2tbsp butter
2tbsp clear honey
Some dessicated coconut
Lots of icing sugar

*Preheat oven to 190(170fan)/375/Gas 5 and grease and line a 7-8" tin.
*Cream butter and sugar well then beat in eggs, one at a time. Sift together the flours & bicarb then sift half into the egg mixture, stirring.
*Combine milk & bananas and beat half into egg mixture. Stir in remaining flour then banana mixture then coconut. Mine went a bit curdly but was fine in the end. Transfer to cake tin and smooth the surface.
*Bake 1hr, leave in tin 5mins, then turn on to cooling rack until totally cold.
*For icing, microwave butter, honey and coconut for 30secs at a time, not more than 3 times. Don't stick your tongue in, it will hurt. Stir in icing sugar until it coats the back of the spoon (drop or two of water if necessary if you need more icing sugar quantity-wise.) Spread on to cake and allow to set/cool.
