Hi everyone just signing in from the UK!!! So much cooler here it lovely. Well my sickness has subsided and I don't feel quite as tired as I have been. DH has returned to Cyp so am on my own with the 2 DC's but I would rather be here than there

So how is everyoneI miss my pregnant mum support

Singingintherain · 06/08/2008 15:42

Chilledmama, I was looking at some similar as the cost out here is very expensive for nappies. What are the real differences between the two. I was interested in Kushies.

The kooshies I looked at have a seperate liner you can buy. I thought that this was what they called a two part system. I was going to get mine on return to the UK next week.

Sorry Kushies not kooshies. Two products with similar name. It is Kushies that I am looking at. They are selling in the in the well known baby shop in town. I have been looking both products online, therefore adding to the already melted state of my pregnant brain.

Welcome to the UK McDreamy - hope you brought some sunshine over with you from Cyprus!

Congrats on your scans Neerly and Nadsss - cant believe they can tell the sex at 12 weeks! Technology must be improving all the time...

PinkTulips · 06/08/2008 16:17

hey mcdreamy

how are you enjoying the cooler weather?

chilled, i have a few bumbles but i find the nippas don't grip them so well when they get older and had ds wake up one morning screaming as a nippa had disengaged and hooked into his balls

am strictly a poppers girl now!

am being tempted by the notion of AIOs as i've never really tried them. am going to pick up a couple of swadlebees econappi's as they're BTP and see how they work on ds, they can be donated to the new baby then when it arrives. they've got a few really funky prints

Gina80 · 06/08/2008 18:17

Congrats on your scans Neerly and Nadsss. Am so They still um and ah over the sex at 20wks at our hosp and only give you an 80%!

I used bambino mios with DS and love them to bits - velcro fastenings are the way to go . Dont forget to claim your £50 back from your local council either. Everything cost me £40 after I got that back. Amazing that you can nappy-up 2 (hopefully 4 eventually ) kids for £40. Love it!

Well my body is officially not a mini temple as I actually had MS this morning rather than just nausea! Hope it's not going to last long, I'm 12wks next week!!!

PinkTulips · 06/08/2008 19:00

gina.... are your dcs boys or girls? i used BMs on dd but they just didn't work for ds at all. i can't figure out if it was his chunkiness or because he's a boy.

Gina80 · 06/08/2008 20:00

Boy. The only problem I ever had with fitting was in the initial weeks as he weighed 6.3 at his lowest and had spindly legs which didn't 'fill' the leg holes properly so they leaked. They have been perfect ever since he hit 8lb though.

TinkerBellesMum · 06/08/2008 20:16

Gina, even when my baby was born at 20 weeks they weren't certain of the sex. The only real way to tell was to count the holes.

Gina80 · 06/08/2008 20:19
Grin
Gina80 · 06/08/2008 20:20

'count the holes' yes that definately is the only way to tell! (love the expression)

PinkTulips · 06/08/2008 20:30

must have been ds then, even now if i put them on him they leak. he doesn't wet for hours at a time but when he does he floods the nappy and the BMs just don't seem to be able to cope. dd still uses them as her night nappies though.

LittleMissNorty · 06/08/2008 20:58

Evening all....congratualtions on scan news

and welcome to the UK McDreamy......you haven't been around for a while

I am beginning to get my energy back but still suffering with sickness (no nausea here just lots of sick!)....also feeling very uncomfortable.....almost like all my insides are being moved about and pushing up under my boobs .....does that sound mad...

TinkerBellesMum · 06/08/2008 21:00

It was quite bizarre really. They had just passed her to me (so still alive) on a folded sheet with one layer folded over her. Mum asked whether it was a boy or girl and the MW said she'd look (too in shock at a heartbeat to think of it I think) and went "erm..." so me and Mum moved to get a better look - three women peering at this tiny scrap trying to work out what the genitals were. She said it wasn't completely clear and I said "there are three holes?" she said she thought I was right and it looks more like a girl. Doctor wrote her up "Sex : I" but everyone agreed she looked like a girl and the registrar was happy if we were to go with that.

BTW, I can't remember if I said before, a interviewed with a freelance journalist at the end of last year for an article called "my miracle babies" and she's just got me into The Mirror's magazine! She's also looking for a magazine to run my story. There's going to be a picture of us with Lily-Hope in it and they're sending a photographer out to do some pictures (I've said it must be Mum's house cause it's a bit nicer for the pics )

MarkStretch · 06/08/2008 21:06

Evening all

Well I have made good use of my child free time and I have been to several parties, down the pub, cocktails in the bar and a shop down Oxford Street.

Ok that's a big fat lie. I have been slobbing on the sofa in my pyjamas eating spag bol. And infact DH just said 'is it bedtime yet?'.

Rock and roll!

I have had loads of stretching and what feels like muscles contracting, hopefully it's growing in there!

MarkStretch · 06/08/2008 21:08

Oh and hi to McDreamy! Nice to have you back!

Did we ever hear from Davidsmom again?

PinkTulips · 06/08/2008 21:10

ds has just gone his third night in a row not wanting his evening feed

i'm quite sad now, thought i'd be relieved but i'm just upset. he still takes his morning feed but i doubt that will last long now.

TinkerBellesMum · 06/08/2008 21:16

Tink normally just has am feed and sometimes asks for another if she is tired or overly hungry. She's been like that for a long time, I wouldn't worry about it. Apparently they often slow down on the demand during pregnancy and pick up again afterwards.

dinkystinky · 07/08/2008 08:50

Morning all - another night's awful sleep (with DH away: though DS was v considerate and slept in till 6.20 to give me a lie in ). God only knows how am going to be when camping next week!

PinkTulips - one of my friends has a theory that the flavour of your milk changes when you're pregnant which puts them off abit... also if DC knows another baby is on the way, it sometimes puts them off doing babyish things like BFing (she's had 3 kids and these are her theories based on the fact that the eldest 2 gave up BFing entirely when she was pregnant with the next one - personally, I have no opinion as DS gave up breastfeeding of his own volition when around 16 months) so honestly, dont worry about DS dropping a feed (and just feel proud and lucky that you've managed to BF for so long): you'll have a little baby feeding all the hours god sends soon enough!

Tink - congrats on the spread in the Mirror!

onwardandupward · 07/08/2008 10:46

In the wonderful "Adventures in Tandem Nursing" book, it says that for many women, there is less milk, or it even dries up entirely, in the first half of pregnancy. So children can get frustrated because they are nursing like mad and hardly getting anything out.

And then as the due date approaches, BONANZA time!!! (only since it's very colostrum rich at that point, some children go ewwwww at the taste and the yellowness and just generally ewwwwww)

This is the third day when I have not felt sick. It passed at 13.5 weeks. Thankyouverymuch. I feel like superwoman. 2 months of absolutely 24/7 nausea was not fun. There. I've admitted it.

Now, in other more important matters, should we not be beginning to think about thread the fourth? Maybe it should be the Fab Feb Fourth Fred: are we Feeling Fantastic? (just to keep the alliteration going nicely along as far as possible. And to annoy people who always carefully annunciate Thr.).

onwardandupward · 07/08/2008 10:47

Bollox. enunciate not annunciate. deep shuddering sigh of shame

jamescagney · 07/08/2008 10:55

Hallo Pink Tulips! sorry just catching up on stuff now, I'm in Clare - where are you?
desperately awaiting my dating scan in 2 weeks, can't wait! hope all are well on here. off to blow nose (again!)

PinkTulips · 07/08/2008 12:36

roscommon (right on the mayo border) living in the middle of fucking nowhere. i can see herds of cows and a pheasant as i type this

i paid for a private scan last week as i couldn't wait for 16-20 weeks which is the first scan round here if public (apparently they're very proud to have gotton it down to as little as 16 weeks for some people )

dinky, all good theories but there's lots of milk as i'm leaking again and he still adores his morning feed so clearly not a taste issue. also, he's rather adamant that he's the little baby and the new baby will be the big boy or girl no idea why he's quitting tbh but ho hum, i should probably be relieved with another on the way!

good idea onward, i was just about to suggest a new thread as my pc isn't coping with this one at all anymore!

TinkerBellesMum · 07/08/2008 13:31

My milk supply seems to have increased as I can hear it going down which I haven't in ages!

Does anyone else have really heavy breasts? I'm also itching all the time and I've grown out of my size H bras ! I've told TBD today that nursing bras aren't designed to last two years so even without them being too small they need replacing anyway. He said I need to go to Bravissimo for a proper fitting

Is there anyone not yet on the map who would like to add themselves? email me at my id @ymail.com and I'll send you an invite.
