Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

LittleMissNorty and mslucy - did you also have that blood flow test (can't remember precisely) and also a test of the flatness of the face ?? I was at the Fetal Medicine Center and it was quite a long appointment doing all the bits and bobs....but I wasn't sure if those bits were standard - I don't remember having them last time ?

mslucy · 31/07/2008 18:35

no - they sound like super special tests. Fetal Medicine Centre is supposed to be amazing.

feeling so much better now I can "come out" - I'm so rubbish at secrets, but I couldn't tell anyone until I knew everything was ok.

PHEW!!!

Singingintherain · 31/07/2008 19:10

Hi All,

Not been on again for a while, as again had many problems with bleeding. I had 12 week scan on Tuesday and all looked well. He looked at the Nuchal side of it and it measured ok. He decided that because it looked ok, he was not going to send me for the bloods that go with it. He said that the results he gave were 75% accurate with a 5% chance of giving a false positive. If I was to have the bloods it would increase to 90% and 15%. I decided that it was best not to have them in my opinion. I know most of you have had both, but I will be happy with any outcome. He looked at the nose formation as well which also looked good.

I have just come back from a scan today after bleeding throughout the night, but still everything is looking ok. I just want to get past the 14w stage when I had a MC in November. I am just so nervous every day which does not help.

Mind you, I have a new thing to worry about. DD is covered in Mosquito bites, which the GP thought was something else that could cause me a problem. After checking the dictionary at home, we realised she had already had what he thought it was. A second Doctor agreed that it was mosquito bites instead.

Today I have managed to break my big toe. Well at least I think I have. It looks blue, massive and is very painful. My medical insurance thinks that they will not be able to x-ray, so I am going to wait until after the weekend to see what happens and then make my mind up then.

Well that is all my moans out in the open.

Hope all goes well for all your pending scans.

You poor thing singing...you have really gone through the mill. They can't really do much for a broken toe - so not huge point in x-raying it ? You need someone to come and look after you for a while !!

MarkStretch · 31/07/2008 19:27

Hi all

Well it appears my tiredness has disappeared.

I have been to London and back, for lunch in the country followed by a massive long walk, driven to essex and back to see family and spent the day at the beach today with my sister and DC's and it's only Thursday!

I can't believe I have done so much when only a couple of weeks ago I was ready for bed at 9.30am.

I am suddenly really spotty though. I have acne on my already red chin. Oh and sunburn from today. I am NOT a pretty sight.

Glad to hear everyones scans went ok, I have been forcing my picture on anyone who'll look!

onwardandupward · 31/07/2008 19:45

Poor old you, singing - you are in the wars. I hope the bleeding stops, and you can take things easy.

My scan is tomorrow. Wish me luck!

lardybump · 31/07/2008 19:51

good luck onward you will be fine.... I am off now to eat (lots). Hope you all have a lovely weekend.

rosieposey · 31/07/2008 19:58

Great news regards everyones scans and test results - hello to any newbies ( i think there are a couple right? ) Car broke down again today so stuck at Asda for an hour and a half - same thing happened yesterday and its a definate battery fault so its going to have to go in -more expense arrghhh!!!

Booking in went well - she was here for ages and ages but seems like a nice enough midwife. My next appt is at the hospital with the consultant in four weeks - not too long at all till 15 + weeks yay! Now there is an April thread its seeming like were all getting along quite nicely in our pregnancies

Gina80 · 31/07/2008 20:32

So pleased that everything is ok for you Tink and that all the recent scans went well for everyone

Hi to the newbies! I'm not on the bottom of the list anymore yay

LittleMissNorty · 31/07/2008 20:52

Good luck Onward for scan....

Herbgarden - I only had nuchal AFAIK.....bloods are done routinely here with nuchal....sounds like you had a really detailed scan

mslucy · 31/07/2008 21:40

yes elkiedee, I wanted to tell you my news but felt it was inappropriate to announce it on the thread we were on a few days ago.

Perhaps we will be sharing a labour in a few months time!

Or I might see you in the Whittington one day.

mslucy · 31/07/2008 21:41

I mean labour ward.

doh.

herbgarden · 31/07/2008 21:44

Good luck onward and upward - it will be a relief when you get tomorrow over and done with.

I have been so busy as we are trying to move house that I hadn't had time to think about the scan until this morning and realised that I was really nervous....when I hopped on that bed my heart was thumping I was sooo anxious but I also had to contend with a 2 year old getting really upset next to me as he wanted to hop on the bed and also wanted to know where my belly button had gone (under the scan thingy !!) so that took the edge off it. It feels like a great weight now it's over.

No doubt you'll come back and tell us !.....

elkiedee · 31/07/2008 23:09

mslucy, yes, I would have felt it was inappropriate too, that's why I looked to see if you'd posted somewhere else (to others on this thread, mslucy and I had good news, the woman who started the thread we were on didn't )

dinkystinky · 01/08/2008 10:11

Wow Singing - you are really having a run of misfortune at the moment. I hope that you get a nice long run of good luck and lots of nice things happening to you shortly!

Elkiedee - know how you feel re expecting to go overdue again. DS was 14 days overdue (and only arrived then due to induction - am sure he'd have happily stayed in there for several weeks more.

mslucy · 01/08/2008 11:45

Elkie, I reckon mine won't want to come out on time either. DS was over a week late - he was just far too cosy in mummy's tummy.

I also reckon there's a real whopper in there - esp now I know it's a he (did you find out the sex from the CVS as well?).

DS was 9lb 7, so no 2 is not exactly going to be small.

Which is why I am seriously thinking of asking for a C-section.

I had one last time after 3 days of labour - the main issue was that the baby was too big for me and got stuck.

I really don't fancy doing this again and so will probably take the coward's way out.

To change the subject entirely, have just bought DS a hilarious book called "What's in Your Tummy, Mummy?".

I have a sneaking suspicion it may backfire on us as it shows a little boy lifting his mummy's dress, which is exactly what DS tried to do when I was standing at the local fruit and veg stall last night

dinkystinky · 01/08/2008 13:53

So, managed to get a convenient out from works drinks after an hour there (holding onto, but not drinking from, a glass of pimms) as DH (who was meant to go home to relieve nanny) had to work late to close a deal ... (and then after his deal closed proceeded to go get v drunk and roll in and wake me up at 2am this morning clattering around the kitchen for some reason - so was not a popular man in the dinky household this morning and getting no sympathy at all for his hangover).

MsLucy - DS was 9lbs 4oz (left to his own devices am sure he'd have stayed inside for at least another week and been a 10lber) so am keeping my fingers crossed that this one will be under 10lbs though dont hugely fancy my chances. I had a vaginal delivery but I have to admit that all of my friends who ended up with emergency C-S after days of labour as the baby was too big for them to get out naturally have all gone for elective C-S for the second one - after all, second babies are meant to be bigger than first ones...

mslucy · 01/08/2008 14:13

he looked big when we saw him on the scan - very meaty (if you can say that about a fetus!).

Now I know he is a boy I know he is going to be a whopper.

Have booking in appt on 11th and will discuss my concerns with the midwife then.

onwardandupward · 01/08/2008 14:57

Just had my blood test + scan.

Nice low risk of Downs, Edwards etc. Yay!

Oh and wriggling around and heartbeat and everything you'd expect

Tinasan · 01/08/2008 16:54

Hello everyone,

Have not posted since the very beginning, for some reason I was too superstitious (despite having huge bump already and feeling generally rubbish).

Had the nuchal scan today and all is fine! Great low-risk result, 1:5000 which is not bad for an old dear like me (well I'm 34).....

Really sorry about everyone who has had to leave the thread, I hope you all have positive news very soon.

Singingintherain · 01/08/2008 18:28

Feeling like rubbish today. I think it is my toe causing it. I have my GP/Midwife appointment with a scan which showed everything as being alright. She was rather worried though as my weight is continuing to fall. I started living here at 15 and a half stone and I now weigh just over 12. I have lost another 3 kilos in 8 weeks (about 6lbs). Since November I have lost 15 kilos. Sorry I keep changing from stones to kilos, but over here they only work in kilos. I look loads better and look more pregnant now rather than just overweight as I actually have a bump.

I thought while I was there I would ask about my toe and went to see the Doctor. She sent me for an x-ray where I had a large protective apron on and a little extra one over the bump. It showed I had broke my toe. The Doctor had to send me to the A & E Department as she thought that I had a displacement also. It turned out that I just had the one break and so they have bound my toes together. I am lucky as if there had been a break lower down I would have had to have had a full foot cast and would not have been able to fly according to my medical insurance.

Now I am resting and are worried about being ready for Friday. There is just loads of washing and packing to do.

I am just wondering if anyone has started to feel movement yet. I have not, but wondered how early anyone has felt anything. I thought I felt something, but I am convinced it was trapped wind.

PinkTulips · 01/08/2008 19:17

i saw my baby today

he was backflippin all over the place and providing great entertainment.

all looks good, spot on for dates at 6.77cm and very well formed, he's drinking amniotic fluid already as his tummy and bladder were full and the spine looks extremely good for this stage as does the brain.

am uploading pics now. soooo relieved and happy

turns out the reason i can't feel much is that the placenta is on the front, baba's definitely moving alright, the lady scanning me was laughing at the flipping and wiggling going on.

singing, sorry things keep getting worse for you i hope your resting now and that the toe heals quickly.

you could have felt movemnet, it's your third and you do feel it more quickly with each preg. i always feel mine early so was actually quite worried not to be feeling this baby much

MarkStretch · 01/08/2008 19:32

Pink- wow pictures look great! He? He? He? Did they tell you!?!?!

Singing- sorry things aren't going so well.

I am knackered today. Took my new found energy for granted this week it seems! I was woken at 1am last night dying for a wee and then by sirens at 2.40am and of course I had to go for another wee- I was not happy!

Finally DH has a night off work so we are eating a lovely dinner and watching TV on the sofa together. I miss him when he's on nights.
