PinkTuplips I think you have trapped wind/indigestion.

It's to do with raised progesterone levels - your digestion doesn't work as well (why some people get constipated too).

I have had this feeling for ages and should be buying shares in the company that makes Rennies.

Luckily the old bowels are much as ever (tmi prob)

PinkTulips · 30/07/2008 20:24

sorry, was explaining that badly i think.... i was talking about rib flare pain. i got it quite badly with the other 2, it's when the bottom of your ribcage is pushed outwards by your organs shifting up due to the expanding uterus. your ribs actually 'flare' outwards at the bottom to accomodate the bump. it's especially painful on my right side because of ribs i broke there a few years ago. i was just surprised to feel it start at 13 weeks, i'm sure it was later with the other 2.

rosieposey · 31/07/2008 08:15

Morning all,

sleep has gone to pot since the beginning of this pregnancy, I cant believe how much i have to go to the loo during the night! I was sure that last time it wasnt supposed to be like this till a few weeks before the birth and speaking of constipation mslucy ... fibogel is now my new best friend - maybe its those prenatal vitamins im taking but ive never been this bad before!

Booking in visit with the midwife today at around one which is nice as ill feel like its actually happening now

pinktulips that ribflare pain sounds bloody awful and its bad luck your getting symptoms this early on - Apart from the constipation and exhaustion/insomnia im ok at the moment, mind you i thought i didnt get morning sickness but have noticed in the last couple of weeks that if i even begin to let myself get hungry i get quite nauseous and wretchy ... maybe thats as close as ill ever get to morning sickness but hey! At least the boobs dont hurt anymore

dinkystinky · 31/07/2008 09:01

Ugh, I just nearly fainted on the extremely overpacked tube - and did anyone offer me a seat? Nope, not even the man I almost collapsed on. Cant wait to start looking properly pregnant, and not just very fat, so I can evict a smug commuter from their seat before I faint on them....

Rosieposey - I've found not drinking anything after 8pm helps cut down those nocturnal nighttime trips (am one of those people who once awake for a loo trip takes around 3 hours to go back to sleep) though in this current hot and sticky weather it does mean I have a fan on me constantly and am merrily munching my way through my bodyweight in frozen smoothies to keep cool before bedtime. Seems to work though... though if you're suffering from constipation, cutting down on nighttime fluids is probably the last thing you want to do... Good luck for your booking in today.

Pinktulips - look on the brightside, if you're getting ribflare now, you shouldnt suffer from it too much later on... Am surprised at how much my upper abdomen looks pregnant (as I know baby and uterus definitely wont have expanded all the way up there yet)... sadly the expansion is just contributing to the fat weeble look, rather than the obviously pregnant women look... ho hum.

Lardybump - I'm in the late scanners club with you - mine is not until next Friday.

laidbackinengland · 31/07/2008 09:09

Morning all. Nothing to report here apart from some mild flutterings from baby. I am 15 weeks tomorrow.

Morning sickness has pretty much passed and I am looking forward to the next couple of months before it start getting uncomfortable again. Just booked a holiday for when I am about 20 weeks and have my anomaly scan the day I get back .

What are people planning to do about finding out the baby's gender ? I didn't with DS1. With DS2, they told me he was a girl and he came out a boy (After I had bought lots of lovely girly things)! With DS3, I found out but DH didn't want to know, so I had to keep it secret for the whole of the second half of pregnancy (which I proudly did). Not sure about this time ...

Any sign of ooogggs ? She hasn't been around for a few days.

rosieposey · 31/07/2008 09:11

Lol dinky i too sleep with my fan panning up and down my body ( DP moans bitterly about the noise and chill ) and i cant get back to sleep after a loo run either - although im apt to think that might be because DP is snoring gently next to me and i always have to go to sleep before he does otherwise he keeps me awake with his snootling .

I will try the no drinks after 8 o clock as just feel sooo knackered from getting up all night long and then drink lots during the day - of course the side effect of this will mean i will be superglued to the loo seat for the majority of the day but its better than getting up all night long

TinkerBellesMum · 31/07/2008 10:26

For the Londoners amongst us, this may help with the tube. If you're not from London just tell them you're visiting and they'll send you a couple anyway!

laidback, we have to find out because boys have a tendency to be awkward in TBD's family (he poisoned his mum so bad he was bought up for six months by his nan) so I'd need extra monitoring in pregnancy if it was a boy. I want a girl though, I like girls, pretty and pink

I'm glad that although I'm looking pregnant this early it really is pregnant looking and not fat looking. I still have a waistline (which upsets one of Mum's colleagues because normally I'm a size 16/18 with a waistline and dimples in my back)

rosieposey · 31/07/2008 11:48

Laidback am rubbish at surprises so booked my genderscan a couple of weeks ago lol - i didnt know in my first pregnancy, then in my second i had an amnio so found out like that and in my third wanted to know for sure.

Having three girls we all want to know and i know everyone is holding out for a boy but im not quite sure id know what to do with one lol - im not bothered either way but i generally have a few scans in my pregnancy so will ask at a couple of them just to make sure - i am desperate to start buying pink or blue!

nadssss · 31/07/2008 11:53

Any news on herbgarden and littlemissnorty's scans?

I am feeling nervous for mine tomorrow. I'm going to resist the temptation to read scare stories...

oooggs · 31/07/2008 13:58

I'm here - thank you laidback for missing me

I have never felt so ill in my life - which isn't helped with twins needed constant attention and not sleeping through

I am 14 weeks tomorrow and look 6 mths (thats what comes of no. 4 - yeah laidback?)

I have updated my profile pics and will try and catch up tonight when I have more time

PinkTulips · 31/07/2008 14:10

dinky..... later on in the preg i'll have the pleasure of baby finding my broken rib and repeatedly kicking it

first timers and the squemish, don't read this bit!!!!!

when i was preg with ds he actually managed to poke his foot up my ribcage on the outside so that you could actually see his little foot sliding up my ribs. once he learned to do it he kept doing it, was really disgusting feeling but was worth it to see dp turn green whenever i showed him

i wouldn't have these problems if i was in proportion.... i'm 5f9 but have legs the same length as my 6f4 dad and a shorter torso than my 5f3 mother.... my ribs actually touch the top of my hip bones! doesn't leave much room for babies lol.

am totally knackered today, dd had another nosebleed at 2am and screamed so loudly that ds woke up so i had both of them in with me wide awake til just before dp got up at 6.30 when they finally dozed off. ds woke at 10.30 and we roused dd at 11 as ds was starving so had to get up with him anyway. it wouldn't have been as bad if i hadn't stupidly stayed up til 1am reading

dinky.... isn't there a law that you can just tell people your pregnant and they have to get up for you in england? you should have made the lazy git give you his seat.... imagine watching a woman almost faint and not getting off your ass to help!

TinkerBellesMum · 31/07/2008 14:47

Pink, women tend to have longer legs than men anyway, but I think at our height we should have male equivalent of 6'.

I got to tell someone... Tink was just running around the living room then she went behind me and went quiet. Just looked over my shoulder and she is knelt on the floor with her arms on the sofa and her head between her arms asleep! If I knew where my phone was I'd show you

PinkTulips · 31/07/2008 14:54

awwwww, i love it when they drop off like that

enjoy your peace and quiet, lol

mslucy · 31/07/2008 15:00

just got all clear after scary CVS scan on Tues (had borderline nuchal last thurs - major drama since then).

I have found out the sex and am having another BOY!

If you want to add me to the list, I am 13 + 1, due on 4/02/09

I'm 37 (38 next month) and live in North London.

I've finally been able to tell all my friends and more importantly buy some maternity clothes - I was down to 2 dresses that fitted, which is a bit limiting to say the least. I went to Topshop and bought 2 beautiful dresses - the rest will be cheapo stuff off ebay but I thought I deserved a couple of nice things after all this stress.

herbgarden · 31/07/2008 15:27

MsLucy - really pleased you are ok after your CVS and that all is in order !....what a relief

I've just come back from my scan and for my age (38) I had an adjusted after bloods of 1:4500 odd so I reckoned that was quite good? What have other peoples been after measurements combined with bloods? Sonographer told me the results were good. Baby was not willing to play ball so at one point I had to get off the bed and jump up and down a few times. They did the blood flow measurement, neck fluid, nasal bone and face "flatness" - I was impressed with how thorough it was.

I feel relieved to be honest. I fully expected given my age to need a CVS so that also was a relief.

He did ask if I wanted to know the sex but I am intrigued that they could find out at this stage. I wavered for a minute and really wonder if I might cave in at the next scanning session.....

Good luck to the rest of you having scans still to come.

dinkystinky · 31/07/2008 15:35

MSLucy - glad your CVS put your mind at rest and good on you for treating yourself! and your bump of course.

Ah, PinkTulips - forgot about your broken rib. Sounds like quite a party trick your ds managed to come up with! To think, my DH almost fainted when my DS used to stick his bum out massively in the front of my bump and wriggle it around the place... he had it easy! And no, sadly there is no law re offering up seats to women in distress, more's the pity...

Got work drinks tonight so should be entertaining trying to avoid the booze without giving away the fact that am pregnant. Any top tips?

PinkTulips · 31/07/2008 15:48

lol.... my two used to that with their bums as well. the funniest was when dd turned head down at 27 weeks and got stuck half way took her all night to wriggle free and had my dad in hysterics laughing as you could see her so clearly lying transverse across my belly and me waddling and wincing about the place trying to shift her.

any chance you could be designated driver for the works do? either that or claim to have something really important to do in the morning and say you can't afford to have a hangover. or do what i did and let a couple of people know and team up with them all night to buy rounds so that no one but them nows you're only having coke.

MsLucy, we're due on the same day congrats on the good news from the CVS.

congrats to you too herbgarden, those results sound really good.

mslucy · 31/07/2008 15:53

herbgarden - those are impressive odds if you consider the average for ladies of our (ahem) slightly uncertain age (I'm 38 next month) is 1:190.

I got 1;200 with good bloods but dodgy nuchal. Odds obv down after normal nuchal on Tues and now have real result which is a relief for someone as paranoid and neurotic as myself.

Now I can relax and enjoy myself - thank god.

Am loving my purple maternity dress - Topshop really have some fab stuff if anyone fancies giving themselves a treat.

The best thing about the maternity bit as well is that unlike the rest of Topshop it isn't crawling with teenage girls!

dinkystinky · 31/07/2008 16:09

Thanks Pinktulips - all great tips!

MsLucy - I love Topshop maternity - the fact they have seats to sit down on while you're waiting for a cubicle and cold drinks to have and aisles you can merrily waddle down makes it pregnant lady nirvana!

TinkerBellesMum · 31/07/2008 16:10

How about mocktails, a glass of something that either lasts all night or you secretly top it up with something similar looking, juice (vodka and orange)... Just make sure either you buy your own drinks or someone who knows does.

blinamouse · 31/07/2008 16:45

I am sure i joined somewhere down the line. Anyway 10+3 with my 3rd. I had my booking in yesterday and have been warned about more pelvic pain this time round. Marvellous!

elkiedee · 31/07/2008 16:57

Crashing from January 2009 though if this baby is overdue as my first was, I may well be back to talk to you all (I'm due 26 January, 1st was 24 April and born in May so I half expect Feb baby).

Just wanted to say I'm so pleased to hear mslucy's news - we first talked as we were in a similar situation re high risk test results

lardybump · 31/07/2008 17:04

evening ladies. The heat today has been really bad..... its so Muggy, where is the rain.....

Good news on the scans I have 2 weeks to wait for mine (and I have to pay private for it!!!)

nadssss · 31/07/2008 17:07

Hello ladies

Scan was great today....nuchal measurement of 1.8mm so just need to wait for bloods (I'm 39 so may need an amnio despite normal neck measurement)

What a relief!

Glad yours went well Herbgarden and fab news about CVS mslucy
