Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
PinkTulips · 26/07/2008 23:45

lol.... his exact words when i asked about pain relief for my migraines were 'parecatomol is generally considered safe but there is a miniscule risk of MC so it's up to you whether you want to chance it'

i did feel like saying 'don't ou mean aspiran?' but just really couldn't be arsed!

PinkTulips · 27/07/2008 00:07

ahhhhhh.... think i ight know where he was coming from.

it can inhibit inplantation if taken close to conception so maybe with the fact that i had no hcg to speak of and a weird pregnancy he thought it best to cover all the bases

dunno, is it odd that i still won't take it though?!

TinkerBellesMum · 27/07/2008 09:32

The thing with the "minuscule risk" is that if you ask women who've just lost a baby what they did in the last week or so you could list them as reasons for them losing their baby without there being any real link because in a lot of losses there is no reason for it. I bet if you asked them what they blame for it happening they will come up with some rather amazing reasons that logically aren't anything to do with it.

Think of all the women who got drunk and had a couple of paracetamol the next morning only to find out shortly after they were pregnant, they then go on to have healthy babies. I don't think we can worry about everything, we know what are definite no's but the rest we can't stress over.

MarkStretch · 27/07/2008 09:40

Morning all

It is a beautiful sunny hot day here today and dd and I are off to the Fairy Fair!

Drank LOADS of water yesterday and only had a slight headache when I woke up this morning so I am going to be really careful today and make sure I drink lots and lots. And not get sunburnt!

LittleMissNorty · 27/07/2008 10:18

Morning ladies ...I'm 12 weeks today

Very hot here as well....have just got out of a lovely cool shower and letting my hair dry naturally....

DDs bedroom was 29 degrees last night ....both windows wide open....so she slept in a sleevless vest....she looked like an old man in that vest .....she slept through though so she must have been cool enough....unlike me who is really feeling the heat! I remember feeling the heat during my last pg - but at the end....can it affect me this early as well?

supersteph · 27/07/2008 13:35

Hello all, . Sorry I have been away from this site for about a month, my DH has decided to do some decorating. So I have had no computer for a while.

To update you ladies, I had my scan last Thursday and all is well. I am 13 weeks today. So I have a new due date of feb 1st.

I can finaly relax, well a little bit anyway.

I still feel a bit sick but only in the early mornings now. I can not yet see any bump, but I think it may still be a bit early. xxx Im glad to be back on site. XX

TinkerBellesMum · 27/07/2008 14:32

LittleMissNorty it's the extra blood flowing around our bodies at the moment. Could the time of year your previous pregnancy feel through have something to do with feeling it later before? I was glad in a way to have Tink when I did as it was the middle of a heat wave and the NNU was so cool I felt a lot better sitting there with her than I had being at home pregnant.

supersteph don't say that too loud, women on here are complaining about looking a lot further on!

I had a dream last night that I was in premature labour again. I had the first baby born on here and I was thinking (while I was in labour ) "I knew we should have set up buddies by now"

Don't know if it was the same dream, but I also dreamed about them saying "we're not going to be able to do a section, you're going to have to deliver it naturally" and I was actually upset about it!

Gina80 · 27/07/2008 20:01

Evening ladies! Hope you're all well and enjoying the sun seems we are all suffering!

I told my family at the BBQ and they were made up. Had too much sun on Friday and had horrible headaches (again like everyone else) so made sure I drank tons. One very helpful little cousin decided it would be fun to count how many times I went to the toilet today I think he said 23

Didn't get chance to check out the GAP in the designer outlet whilst I was there (must have been all the loo breaks!) so am going to have a browse on line. Am very impressed with your finds Markstretch. Anyone got any suggestions for that kind of price range?

Ewemoo · 27/07/2008 20:08

Had scan on Friday - was really nervous after mc in February. The lady who did the scan started to smile and I thought surely she can't be that emotional over seeing a baby on the screen. Oh no - she said I can see two heads!!!!! For a second I thought she meant one baby two heads and then it dawned on me what she meant. Twins!!!!!!!! I really had not expected this and dh was in absolute shock. He said there goes private school then! They are sharing one placenta which I have read means they will be identical. They are both an equal and good size which is good as ms has been horrendous.

MarkStretch · 27/07/2008 20:13

Woo Ewemoo!

I was wondering who from the thread would have twins!

That's brilliant news, congratulations!

rosieposey · 27/07/2008 20:16

Hi all - back from weekend in Devon - unbearably hot and sticky though. Bring on the thunderstorms i say!

Have booking in visit this Thursday coming which is nice

Hi to the newbies that have joined us and congrats...

Ewemoo - wow twins! thats great news Double congratulations to you and your DH

Gina80 · 27/07/2008 20:26

Oh WOW ! TWINS!!!! Congratulations! Are these your first DC's?

laidbackinengland · 27/07/2008 20:39

Ewemoo - congratulations on your twins ! Double the trouble fun !

Rosie where did you visit in Devon ? We are in North Devon - yesterday was very hot and I got a little bit burnt on the beach.

MarkStretch · 27/07/2008 20:42

Ergh I have a cracking headache again.

Fairy fair was good but soooo bloody hot!

Am off to London Zoo tomorrow with a friend and our dd's- can't wait!

Am off to bed early to try and make my head better.

rosieposey · 27/07/2008 20:54

Went to Exeter (sans DP and DC'S ) as i come from there orignally and was going to go over to Woolacombe bay with friends but it was sooo hot that i just couldnt face it.

So went for a lovely drink with friends in Topsham yesterday evening instead and it had cooled down nicely. To be honest i got home today and did nothing but sleep because of this heat im not great when its hot never mind when its hot and im pregnant.

Talking of shopping i went to Exeter city centre yesterday ( and was quite impressed by the newly built Princesshay ) and bought some maternity jeans from Dorothy Perkins sale ( in a size 18 - i was pleasantly surprised as im usually a couple of sizes bigger than that ) they were only 10 pounds each New Look maternity go up to an 18 but i just cant squeeze in them at all Oh well at least Dp are sympathetic to us bigger gals - otherwise id be in rubbishy looking tents for my whole pregnancy!

LittleMissNorty · 27/07/2008 22:29

Oh wow...congratulations Ewemoo

america · 28/07/2008 09:37

Congratulations, twins!!

BTW, has anybody told at work already? In my workplace it's getting a bit gloomy with the credit crunch and there are talks about redundancies. I'm thinking of telling my boss right after my scan (next Monday) as I gather that I cannot be sacked if they know I'm pregnant. I hope I'm right..

dinkystinky · 28/07/2008 10:07

Wow, Ewemoo, twins! Congratulations Are these going to be your first DC or do you already have some little troublemakers around the place? At least the sonographer broke it to you in a nice way (when one of my friends who had twins went for her scan the sonographer asked her "so, how many do you think are in there?" She almost fell off the bed!)

America - I told work about 5 weeks ago as there's a major department reshuffle in September and they sort of needed to know in advance of that (did exactly the same when was pregnant with DS and meant was moved into a room which was less busy, so could go home at semi-human hours, than where they would have moved me to otherwise - the guy who moved into the room I would have gone to basically didnt go to bed for the next 6 months). If they tried to sack you when pregnant, they'd be opening themselves right up to a discrimination claim so would be foolish on their part (but that's not to say it doesnt happen lots in the city).

Gina80 · 28/07/2008 13:22

I'm telling work on Mon as I'm giving 28 days notice to go back full time to get MAXIMUM benefits.

I think they can make people redundant/sack people if they can show that it was necessary, imminent, role was due to go anyway etc. They can't do it purely on the grounds that you are pg.

SwampsterHasAWarmFuzzy · 28/07/2008 16:45

Nuchal scan today - saw a gorgeous little person and risks are reassuringly reduced. Pleased to see just ONE gorgeous little person as I am sooooooo enormous the guy on the desk assumed I was there for a 20 week scan (not 12!) .

lardybump · 28/07/2008 17:08

Hello ladies I am 10 weeks today.

DP and I took dd to camber sands yesterday and she loved it. We had to drag her out of the sea kicking and screaming as she was having a lovely time in there but she was shivering so much. Built sandcastles and ate fish and chips and generally had a lovely day.

Today dd and I have just been chilling in the house as I didn't want her in the sun today (out in it all day yesterday)...

Have been feeling really tired and sick again today.... Congratulations on the twins Ewemoo, what a lovely surprise?. Hope everyone is well and not melting too much. Storms tonight and lots of rain tomorrow!!

rosieposey · 28/07/2008 17:24

Hi all, spent all day perched in front of a fan whilst spraying magicool liberally all over

Glad to say that its thundering outside but doesnt seem significantly cooler

Congrats on the scan Swampster - is always lovely to see that first image of your lo.

Thinking that i might do a Sainsburys dash because am craving crusty bread and soup and am frankly too lazy to do anything resembling homemade. Think my DD's and DP will stage a mutiny if i offer them the same fayre though so maybe will just stick to the salad after all...

SwampsterHasAWarmFuzzy · 28/07/2008 17:56

Thanks rosieposey. I'm so domestic-goddess today that I'm actually baking bread [halo emoticon].

thehouseofmirth · 28/07/2008 18:31

Hooray, had my 12 week scan today so can finally come out and join you rather than just eavesdropping. Had a good nuchal result for my age and from the on-screen antics I now know I have been definitely been feeling movement since 8.5 weeks. Haven't been feeling too bad so far but today feel perfectly normal so I'm quite glad I had scan today or I expect I'd be panicking!
