This is it!! Some of us have already started the descent into new BABYDOM. Best to arm ourselves with the facts. Here you will find the Signs of Labor. Just don't panic. Remember women around the world have been giving birth for ages. You are not alone nor will you be alone throughout this entire process. We are all here for each other no matter what. oopsacoconut · 08/07/2008 20:57

I have just been give a kari mee (sp??) wrap and wilki net. Am a big wilki fan but have never used a wrap before looks reasonably simple and once it's on it seems to stay on and you pop bubs in and out as need be??

Dizzy last time my DH ironed anything it was my velvet trousers with a HOT iron which is why it goes to be ironed now.

Am having a cuppa with a great big slice of fruit cake anyone wanna share?? can also offer custard creams or trifle or cheesecake.

VintageGardenia · 08/07/2008 20:58

Wow I would've thought the polis would have had some system where you leave your uniform in and it gets done for you. You mean all members do their own uniform???

miamla · 08/07/2008 21:01

trifle over here please

AnnVan · 08/07/2008 21:01

mmm cheesecake. I think tomorrow I will get up before noon and be a domestic goddess type person. Will unpack someof the boxes and make lovely shepherd's pie.

Buckets · 08/07/2008 21:04

Don't see why you can't have Reese Claudia and set a family tradition in stone. We have the name Morley going back 5 generations now on my dad's side - this generation (me, my siblings and now a cousin)have all gone for it as a mn for 1st born sons and it's my dad's first name. (I would have been happy to use it for DD actually!)

Other names with good poetic metre:

Reese Marianne (just cos it's my favourite name)
Reese Mariella / Carmela / Justina
(Latinate with penultimate stress)
Reese Alethia / Persephone / Penelope / Calliope (all Greek with antepenultimate stress)

oopsacoconut · 08/07/2008 21:06

i'll just put it all on the table in the corner and you can help our selves.

Oh Ann I wish i could stay in bed that late - still I will not complain only 2.5 weeks of work left.

oopsacoconut · 08/07/2008 21:07

yourselves - i have already helped my self - hence the heart burn. will add a bottle of gaviscon to the table too.

dizzydixies · 08/07/2008 21:12

left over white chocolate cheesecake and some lemon drizzle cake here too for anyone that wants it

VG not a hope do they provide any service remotely like it [harumph] they have just changed their uniforms to the black t-shirts which wash and dry very quickly and don't need ironing which is a blessing

buckets I LOVED Calliope until someone told me it meant toilet in Greece now having never had the pleasure of Greek Island hopping I'm not sure if its true but dh said no anyway - selfish git!!

gigglegirl · 08/07/2008 21:30

i managed to make tea and help put the kids to bed and have since laid on my bed thinking I would move but haven't - have just managed to put laptop on and should be doing some work!

My name dilemma, I already have an Isobel Ruth and think this one is to be Imogen Louise. Both names go well with our surname but I am worried they are too alike. DH thinks I am finding things to stress about!

I also love Madeleine but he has settled on Imogen!

TwilightSurfer · 08/07/2008 21:31

Sorry I dropped off the radar to nap for an hour then spent 20minutes catching up.

Dizzy, you've been looking through my namestorming notes haven't you.

DH likes Melissa (but it's my very best friend's name)
DH like Amelia which is close to Emelia
I LOVE Bronte.
Harper is on my short list.
I've pondered Talia.
DH did not like Delilah.
DH did not like Georgia. (MIL disliked it as well.)
DH did not like Natasha.
DH did not like Simone.
I didn't like Natalia. (MIL suggested it...but that's not why I didn't like it.)
Can't use Francesca...DB's other DD, Kyra Francesca.
Can't use Dayna...I have a cousin and a close friend, both Dana, and a SIL, Danica.
Can't use Evanthe....I have a cousin, Evan.
Can't use Lauren (from previous list)...I have a cousin with that name.
Auden is an idea I haven't considered. {twilight quickly writes note regarding name.}

Miamla the Moby is an excellent choice!! There's eight different ways to wear your child PLUS they offer exercises you can do while wearing Moby with baby,

VG HOORAY!!! Now besides easing your mind, wasn't that cool. I'm a big fan of neat medical equipment.

gigglegirl · 08/07/2008 21:32

baggsy the cheesecake!

bealcain · 08/07/2008 21:34

oooo can i add to the table? homemade apple crumble and custard/cream!

miamla, it's pretty much the same tie technique for all wraps. the amoumnt of material does look daunting to begin with but my claim to fame is i can now do it in 15secs and have my ds2 in it securely in 30!!

VG - glad everything's ok, better to check it out than leave it.

who was it with fibroids?? did the consultant get back to you?

TwilightSurfer · 08/07/2008 21:34

Now Dizzy THANK YOU!! I'll let you know what DH says. It took 8 months to get Reese, goodness knows how long it will take him to agree on the middle name.

OP posts:
oopsacoconut · 08/07/2008 21:35

TS What about Reese Tavia (or Octavia)? My best friend has just named her daughter Tavia and I love it.

poppysocks · 08/07/2008 21:42

Hi gg. As previously stated today, I love Madeleine . It did seem an awfully big name for a very small girl when she was first born, hence that she's now Maddy, but she can be grown up and serious if/when she's ever ready to be. Difficulty we have is that DH is stuck on Emily for this LO, but we refer to DD1 as M a lot, so could get confusing. Hmmm.

TS - I second Buckets that using Claudia because of the connection would be lovely and if anything even nicer for your brother having used it already. Plus Reese Claudia goes really well. Out of interest do you pronounce it Cloudia or Clawdia (iyswim!)?

So pleased all well at the hospital VG. I had a similar experience at about this time with DD. 'Twas v. odd to see the machine responding to kicks that I couldn't feel.

I have some maltesers to share. Actually, please, please save me from wolfing the whole box....

TwilightSurfer · 08/07/2008 21:43

Oops, it's worth a shot. {twilight jots another name down for DH.} He's really going to love you all this evening.

OP posts:
dizzydixies · 08/07/2008 21:44

I believe Octavia WAS on my list of suggestions

dizzydixies · 08/07/2008 21:45

lol ts if you think YOUR dh is going to be narked can you imagine how mine feels
bless him, he hates it when I start yapping on about names

oopsacoconut · 08/07/2008 21:48

Sorry Dizzy - have to confess skipping through names as we already have one.

gigglegirl · 08/07/2008 21:48

hipoppy I don't think I will get DH to agree to Madeleine although I love Maddie as a nickname, unfortunatly Maddie doesn't go well with our surname nor does Molly, another name I love. I do love Imogen as well just worried is too like Isobel.

I would love to partake in maltesers but have just out away my own minstrels - i keep getting a sore tongue which is stopping me eating sweets, choc, crisps, fruit etc.... it just isn't fair. I've never had it but wondering if it could be oral thrush - I have these large red circles on my tongue too - not really noticable but still there. Not sure what to do if anything!

dizzydixies · 08/07/2008 21:50

can I ask a question please?

I bf both dds - dd1 for 8months and dd2 for 6 but I STILL had bottles and a packet of formula in the house to have as an option even if not used

now, they got formula once I'd finished bfing them BUT I can't find the brand that I used both the first times and not, due to my fluffy brain and indecision, I can't decide which one to have

was looking at SMA Gold, Aptimal (sp?) and I think Heinz have one out now - anyway there were 3 of them and I couldn't tell any great difference

it was Cow & Gate organic I used for first two btw

TwilightSurfer · 08/07/2008 21:51

Poppy (oh sorry Oops I don't think I bolded your name in my last post)

Poppy & Buckets I'm not fond of my little brother's wife. And the use of my mother's name was a BIG issue. You see my DD1 (my DC#1) was slated to have that name but her birth was five months AFTER his DC#3!! and they were just completely out of name choices!!!!!!! It actually still bothers me to this day. As nice as the though, I won't be naming DD#2 Claudia.

OP posts:
dizzydixies · 08/07/2008 21:51

right, enough chat re sweeties please !!

giggle does Isobel get shortened to anything?

TwilightSurfer · 08/07/2008 21:53

Dizzy the credit is all yours. I just pregnant mindedly only responded to Oops as she seconded your motion.
