This is it!! Some of us have already started the descent into new BABYDOM. Best to arm ourselves with the facts. Here you will find the Signs of Labor. Just don't panic. Remember women around the world have been giving birth for ages. You are not alone nor will you be alone throughout this entire process. We are all here for each other no matter what. Just read on IMDB, they reckon Heath Ledger might get a posthumous Oscar nomination for playing the Joker in Dark Knight. If he does he'll be the 8th person in Oscar history to get postumously nominated
Can't wait to see it

AnnVan · 04/07/2008 18:45

VG yes I'm from SA originally, been in UK since 1996. I donn't know where the time has gone. Iwas 14 when we moved here. SA is a beautiful country if you want stunning ignore johannesburg (yuk) but go to natal and see the drakensburg mountains, it doesn't get more lovely than that. I haven't been back since we moved here. Having baby means any hope of doing that will have to be delayed for a little while more.

VintageGardenia · 04/07/2008 18:54

Mmm am guessing both marathon training and long distance holidays might be suspended for a while in the VG house too!

Cannot think of one single thing to do for dinner for DS and self, should I be tempted by pizza delivery do you think???? Though even thought of that is without usual drool factor.

AnnVan · 04/07/2008 19:10

Do you know I've had the same problem lately, so uninspired when it comes to food. Then again everything I really fancy is things I can't eat. Am gagging for a bit of pate, with brie and goat's cheese and a nice sweet wine.(sighs) see what I mean?

cyteen · 04/07/2008 19:17

Same here re. loss of cooking mojo. Fortunately some friends have just rung up to invite us over for dinner. They must have heard me moaning about the lack of barbecue

Had another long chat with my dad on the phone just now...ever more evidence of my grandad's last years being exceptionally lonely. What a weird guy. He spent so much time and energy maintaining his intense neuroses, when he could have put them into trying to mend some fences and maybe regaining some human contact.

AnnVan · 04/07/2008 19:21

Seems sad really, but unfortunately people are weird, it's like when you hear about people who become terminally ill and then promptly set about alienating and hurting everyone who cares about them - why??

VintageGardenia · 04/07/2008 19:21

Well have rung Domino's pizza because I know DS will enjoy. Feel like a bath and early to bed but have agreed to either a readathon or a dvd.

cyteen is your dad ok with everything?

AnnVan · 04/07/2008 19:51

Sazzles: boys: Johannes, Jacobus or even my dad's name Christoffel, or hendrik (the saf acent they're said with makes them worse) girls they've only suggested Petronella.

TBH they are joking and trying to suggest the worst names they can think of. My mother hates her afrikaans name

Afternoon All.

Sazzles, your request is easy enough. For quick reference now...I'm always five hours behind you, Expectant is the total opposite of me (1AM/1PM), and Longway is one hour ahead of me (so four hours behind you). How I keep that all straight I've no clue especially when you add my Dad to the mix when he's living in Hawaii (five hours behind me...ten hours behind you). CRAZY!!!

Along the same lines...I was wondering if everyone would like me to change it up a bit so to make room for hospitals and CSec/VBAC/etc information?? I've been taking notes but haven't made any formal stats for all that yet. What is important for everyone at this point?

The HOLIDAY is going well so far. We've spent most of it in the front yard. DD's toys (bikes etc) are all over but she's mainly been playing in her little wade pool. We've eaten light so far....cucumbers, tomatoes, olives, carrots and crackers (left over from yesterday) and BROWNIES (yesterday too). Steak and Chicken are marinating for later on the grill. Will be adding to that corn on the cob, watermelon, rice and maybe something else. There's loads of boats on the river today and expect even more by this evening (odd when the price of gas on the river is averaging $4.35US ).

Sazzles there's some great ladies on MN who might be able to give your friend some support when she's ready. I MCed at 10 weeks but stayed on MN which kept my spirit strong. Conceived 17 days after the MC now here I am...formerly due 09JUN now due 19AUG.

VG I think Oops is from SA or lived in SA too. Check her pics on FB. They are awesome... I'd love to travel there just see all the amazing animals in their natural habitat.

Hello all
Just checking in - petit petitfilou is feeling better but tries to spit out his penicillin every time I give it to him (4 times a day this one - must be the hardcore stuff)
Have spent nice afternoon with a friend and her children - she said she couldn't believe I still had two months to go looking at the size of my bump (now have to look forward to friends I'm seeing tomorrow - and haven't seen for several months - saying exactly the same thing - slightly worried about how my stomach is going to look afterwards but hey ho)
Off to Bournemouth - will wave to you all from the beach (prob in the rain ) Wish me luck on getting there. If anyone sees a harassed heavily pregnant mother of two in a silver Citroen Picasso heading towards Scotland please redirect me....

sweetkitty · 04/07/2008 20:47

oi you Augusts don't you be getting all ahead of yourselves, we haven't even had ONE baby born in July yet, you lot are not allowed to have babies until we all have

anyway I've been lurking on here waves hello to my fellow TTCers and MC cake eaters

Oh has anyone heard from dizzy?

PetitFilou1 · 04/07/2008 20:48

Ps Sazzles my sister has taken to calling ds2 'baby Derek'. He is definitely not going to be called Derek! She's just trying to wind me up as I won't tell her the name.

We have had 10 babies including one set of twins but all born in June so far no July babes, a load of us will be working on changing that this weekend.

oopsacoconut · 04/07/2008 21:15

Helloooooo All
Lovely red white and blue thread TS.

Annvan I'm from SA too - Cape Town Came over in 1996 for 6 months, met a man in week 3 and 12 years later here i am. My family are also full of the Afrikaans names - The latest (even though we know we are having a girl) is Frikkie or the good old family favorite Dirk Johannes - the first born boys are all called this! And for girls Greta? I think they have all gone mad. We are planning taking this little one home in December or January.

gigglegirl · 04/07/2008 21:25

evening all - just had lovely news via MSN that one of my best RL friends is getting married next year! So pleased for her. Her Dad died suddenly two years ago and I wondered if that meant she just wouldn't do it at all but they have decided to have a really small wedding next year - so we won't be there but delighted for her!

Trying to summon up the energy to 1) get laptop cable out and plug in before battery dies 2) go downstairs and get chocolate and debit card so evening of online spending can begin! Already ordered our new bathroom suite form plumber to be fitted in 10 days! Now have to shop for DD1 5th birthday and DS2 2nd birthday as well as me and this new arrival - wish I was rich but will do my best to hammer my overdraft!

VG thanks for saying I sound upbeat - always feel like I must be bringing everyone down! Usually a very positive person but finding it hard now and DH gets the brunt of it!

He's gone to play football tonight and this was the conv. before he left.

Me: Are you going to the pub after football?
him: no .....
him: I don't think so......
him: probably.........
him: bye - followed by door slam

So god knows when I can expect him home?

CaptainCaveman · 04/07/2008 21:37

ts thanks for the lovely new thread! And Happy 4th July to you . According to your quiz, my body 'is just starting to get ready for the big day!'

albs and chacha get some tonic water down ya necks - your restless legs will get some rest, I promise!

petit and sazzles I'm with you on the annoying-ness of 'bump-size-shocked-look' that people are employing, or the 'ooh you are huge comments. Next one I get, I have a reply ready: "well yes but I'm pregnant - what's your excuse" .

sweetkitty good luck to all you July ladies! Dizzy texted me yesterday to say all well but very busy - surely she ain't moonlighting on another thread is she? !
