This is it!! Some of us have already started the descent into new BABYDOM. Best to arm ourselves with the facts. Here you will find the Signs of Labor. Just don't panic. Remember women around the world have been giving birth for ages. You are not alone nor will you be alone throughout this entire process. We are all here for each other no matter what. So let us go forward with heads high and bellies low.

This little quiz might also be helpful. Remember we are in this TOGETHER!!

Sazzles - your local polis should be able to come and see them - there are special officers trained for ALL ages not just school aged

any farms nearby that would let them go and have a look around?

do you need activities that come to them or activites you can take them to?

would a student from the local art school not do some time with them or someone who does craft or music?

dizzydixies · 08/07/2008 19:08

I turned 33 weeks at the weekend and allowed myself the sneakiest peak of a few of Borders Names books this morning!

I've really not wanted to tempt fate but I'm starting to feel like I should be looking at names seriously now, just like you're doing (love Reese Gabriella by the way).

On a non name note, I did an earlier post (poss at the end of the last thread, you know, about 3 hours ago!) about being fearful of what lots of twitches meant ( I was worried it was a bad sign) but the doctor today assured me it sounds exactly like hiccups, so am feeling much relieved!

On a good/bad note (can't quite decide) babe is still breech and they tend not to do ECV if you've had a c-sec (my dd was with emergency sec.) so I might be having a c-sec not a VBAC after all. Am in two minds on the whole thing, but guess time will tell!

Have a lovely time. Am v jealous. Have just had to de-nit myself following an outbreak at dd nursery. Ah, the joys of children. Annvan - I think it was you worried about taking such a big step. Just to say, in spite of the nits, the tantrums, the mess, etc (not to mention pregnancy, birth, etc) they are totally, totally, worth it. And very funny too!

VintageGardenia · 08/07/2008 20:21

Well everyone at the hospital was really charming and kept saying no no you're right to come in and they didn't make me feel like a time wastrel at all, and even offered me some toast, which I thought very kind.

Monitored/traced/whatever you call it for about half an hour, I could clearly hear heartbeat, all sounded tiptop. On the printout thing coming out of the machine (all Mount Everest diagram lie detector thingies) it also showed a black mark every time the machine detected a baby movement - this was really weird as even though I could see on the machine that the baby was moving, I couldn't feel a thing. Like having epidural and watching your own contractions which you can't feel.

Anyway they said the baby had moved spine to spine and the placenta at the front it was likely to be cushioning all the movement - seems mad that it could cushion it to that extent, and that normal tummy ripples etc aren't happening but there you go!

So everything is totally fine, yay! Think had been SLIGHTLY pretending not worried, but did shed tiny tear of relief onto DP's knee as he drove us home.

miamla · 08/07/2008 20:27

that's brilliant news VG, i'm so pleased you've been and got checked out AND that they were all lovely to you at the hospital. hmm but what was your head doing near your DP's knee?

VintageGardenia · 08/07/2008 20:31

Come, come, miamla, I'm sure you've heard of the most common reason for crashes in the greater Dublin area .

AnnVan · 08/07/2008 20:33

great news VG. Am glad everything is ok!

VintageGardenia · 08/07/2008 20:34

dizzydixies · 08/07/2008 20:37

anyone else stuck for names seeing as I have a free evening - I can't possibly do the hoovering/ironing etc with the size of my feet

oopsacoconut · 08/07/2008 20:40

Why dizzy are they to big to iron with? or do they just no fit on the ironing board anymore

dizzydixies · 08/07/2008 20:40

not even I, the domestic goddess that I am, can iron with my feet up

cheeky mare!!

oopsacoconut · 08/07/2008 20:43

I wouldn't know about ironing - seen as i have not ironed anything in the 11 years i have been with DH. Hoovering i know i did it once but can't remember when last. All i know is that when i get home the cleaning fairy has been and the laundry fairy has taken the shirts to the cleaners?

oopsacoconut · 08/07/2008 20:44

Not that i'm saying DH is a fairy

dizzydixies · 08/07/2008 20:47

ah now you're just showing off
I told dh when he joined the polis that he was doing his own farking shirts and he stuck to it bless him - he really does his share of the ironing as I don't mind doing the kids stuff I just hate our stuff lol

miamla · 08/07/2008 20:49

now now girls!

another new scottish expression for me tonight thought "sodding lush"!

right, if anyone is completely confused between a sling and a wrap, a Rebozos and a Kanga or even a Selendangs, have a little lookie here...

www.peppermint.com/baby-wearing-instructions.html

correct me if i'm wrong bealcain but i've realised the problem i was having with them all is because i didn't realise how simple the designs were and that particularly with the moby, its just a case of being able to tie it differently. I'm pretty sure I'm going to go for a Moby type wrap, just seems so much more versatile than a pouch

AnnVan · 08/07/2008 20:55

DP is being annoying cleaning the kitchen in such a way as to criticise the fact that I haven't done it. I will admit I've been abit lazy, but I've also been exhausted and not feeling very well. Still feel bad that he's come home and not sat down yet
