That's a really god, honest story, Twinkling.

As I said, I had a nightmare getting DS latched on, mainly because of the appauling conflicting advice at the hospital.

With DD they were much better, helped me make sure she was on properly and she just fed and fed and no-one told me to stop, and we were fine.

Despite the problems me and DS had at first, I bfed him exclusively for 6 months, then mixed fed for the next two.

DD bfed for 15 months. iT's well worth the effort if you can keep going.

Big Caveat, Lackadaisy-That's not my husband!

He's tall, blonde and very forward thinking- and quite fit-you have to be in his job! He would have a big red beard if he grew one- he did once and it was very funny- that's the nordic influence!

DM u r a genius! I got some of them from chemist last year, will look them out now (runs to kitchen clutching forehead)...

May I have another slice of apple pie and cream?

Dozymare · 03/07/2008 21:19

Dozy a genius??!!! Ohhh made my night that did!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am a genius, i am a genius, I am a genius, I am a genius, i am a genius (fade to ad lib)

Think I have gone a bit nuts!

I love those menthol crystals, don't have the water too hot though!!! Don't want to burn your nose like Dozy did last time I used them!

lackaDAISYcal · 03/07/2008 21:19

if it's honesty in BFing stories, although with DD things got off to a good start, i did have a few latching issues and then a stubborn bout of thrush with blocked ducts and mastitis. It was hard work, and didn't start to come naturally to me until about 16 weeks. I finally had my breastfeeding epiphany in a layby at the side of the A64! After that point we never looked back.

I think being aware of the things that can go wrong is half the battle in getting help for them. the fact that it can be painful to begin with is often overlooked, and there are lots of women who will say if it's sore you can't be doing it right, but that doesn't really empower you to think you are doing the right thing. recognition that it is hard work and can be painful at the start and that you are doing a great job are paramount to getting over the initial hump.

Dozymare - I have your address from the book swap club, will send the CDs soon, did you just want the relaxation on, or the birth prep(homebirth, but mostly just positive thinking)
Twinkling - I've emailed you
First night without DS tomorrow [nervous, but kind of looking forward to it in a guilty way]

lackaDAISYcal · 03/07/2008 21:21

lol pinky...we have the curs-ed red hair gene in our family on both sides.........odds are that No3 will be red-haired, as we have one blond and one dark already!

dozy is mad, dozy is mad, dozy is mad

PInkyminkyohnooo · 03/07/2008 21:25

ah daisy lots of ginger here, too! DS was born with red hair, but it all fell out and is now blonde. I'd quite like this DD to be red haired. MY hair is dark dark red.

Dozy- aren't genius and madness two sides of the same coin??

Dozymare · 03/07/2008 21:25

thomasina1 · 03/07/2008 21:29

Hello, had the scan this afternoon and saw our very lovely baby.... girl!!!

Actually it's not sunk in yet as I had secretly convinced myself it was a boy - because I really wanted a girl - and then realised I had changed my mind and wanted a boy... but now it's a girl! Anyway, I am coming round to the idea and getting very excited. Sorry, that all sounds confusing, doesn't it!?

Anyway, she is lying upside-down with her head firmly lodged in my pelvis, no amount of tipping me upside down or me shaking my bottom was going to get her to move!

Good luck for tomorrow Autumnlady!

Dozymare · 03/07/2008 21:29
