thomasina1 · 03/07/2008 21:35

oh, I'm quite sad that I can't be thinking of lots of boys names! We'd already decided on a girls ones but now I feel like that's no fun... may need to reconsider or at least come up with some back-ups!

lackaDAISYcal · 03/07/2008 21:37

doesn't it?

have just run it by DH......he says it's too poncetastic . I've told him not to dismiss it out of hand and to think about it.

PInkyminkyohnooo · 03/07/2008 21:38

I couldn't think of a single name for DD- it was really hard work. Every name I suggest for this DD, DH just says noooooo.

Lacks- I agree with butternutter, Rufus would really be dynamic with your surname!

sparkletoes · 03/07/2008 21:42

Haha Nosymare!!! Sorry but it also rhymes which is pretty cool!

Congrats Thomasina!

Crystals helped a bit.. not so intense throbbing now!

Dozymare, and other equally nosy but quieter types!
Ds is 17 and a bit months, he is going to stay with our best friends, she is picking him up when she finishes work at about 5, they have taken him out for afternoons before so not worried about him in their car - we just put the isofix car seat across, and they've babysat for evenings before. They came to tea tonight so she gave him his bottle and put him to bed and he went down like a dream - he was knackered though Bit worried about him settling when not in his own bed though, he'll have his own blankies, and cuddly dog, and the CD we put on at bedtime so will be close as poss to normal, and he knows them
They have no kids although not for want of trying and sometimes I feel guilty about being pg again but she is so nice about it (was 1st person I told about this one!) I can't think of a nicer couple who should have kids.
We are going to the Officers mess Summer ball, I haven't been to a mess function since 6 days before he was born when I was dancing at the ceilidh for Burns' night! I have a new dress, and we've got a group of a few friends going so it should be a really good night, if I can say up past 1030!

twinklingfairy · 03/07/2008 22:23

Cheers Yorky, have sent you a response, but will ask here too, How do these things work, when do you listen to them (hypnobirthing CDs).
I mean there seems little point in listening to the fast post natal recovery at this point
And do you need a darkened room, should you fall asleep to them, so it all stays in there?

I am not the only dim one am I?
I like the idea but have no idea how to practice it

lackaDAISYcal · 03/07/2008 22:24

have a nice time yorky....am jealous of your grown up night out.

vbab78 · 03/07/2008 22:26

PInkyminkyohnooo - Many pages ago you mentioned that you plan on using the tommee tippee closer to nature pump. I must admit I like the look of it if I decide to "try" breast feeding again or worst case just express for a while. I would sterilise the pump using the box provided but what extra bottles would you recommend I use and how to sterilise them? With DS I had mothercare microwave sterilise bottles which were great so I have no steriliser and dont fancy the expense of buying one. Any recommendations? Very confused at mo not even sure about trying breast feeding again.

lackaDAISYcal · 03/07/2008 22:27

oh, and pinky, I've posted on your modern baby nappy thread! I got mine through to test today; they look lovely and are very soft, but DH thinks they look scary and complicated. The colours are a bit odd, but then again they also send a lovely wet bag for storing them in so I can't complain.

Yorky · 03/07/2008 22:28

Will post piccies to make you all jealous!
Trying to decide if I am feeling smug because I know I won't have a hangover and DH will (he always does), or if I wish I could drink more than I'll let myself
Will be shattered on Saturday whatever!

lackaDAISYcal · 03/07/2008 22:30

vbab I've got some Lindam steriliser bags that are good. They hold two bottles I think and can be used up to 20 times before you need to throw them away. As i only sterilised very occasionally they were fine and my tommee tippee steriliser is still in it's box and was used about four times. I was going to sell it for a tenner plus postage if you are interested? There are a couple of bottles with it as well and one hasn't been used.

MerryMarigold · 03/07/2008 22:32

Oh goodness, dozy - just seen it's a GIRL!!! Oooh oooh oooh. Sorry I know you lot have been over this. I'm sure, but I missed it all.

I am back now. Had a great time. Weather was lovely. Ate pastries every morning, am even huger. Passport control lady said. "Now long now then!". Ummmm...well 4 months feels like a VERY long time!

MerryMarigold · 03/07/2008 22:33

NOT LONG NOW THEN!

lackaDAISYcal · 03/07/2008 22:41

we were just talking about you MM and wondering where you were. It's hard to remember who is on holiday, who has pooter ishoos, who is moving.

Glad you had a good holiday and at the passprt ladies comments. I'm getting "you're huge" comments already, which is a bit harsh considering I lost a stone in my first trimester and haven't gained anything else since.

twinklingfairy · 03/07/2008 22:54

vbab I used the tommee tippee closer to nature pump and it was a good one.
It came, and I think still does(though not totally sure) with a steriliser microwave box. I used it for all my needs and just used the same brand bottles.
All good I thought.
Only down side was getting cramp in my hand at 4am with all my pumping, cos it needs to be constant.
Apparently the Avent one you can hold for a few seconds?
I now have both, but need to replace bits for the tommee tippee one, does anyone know how I do that?

lackaDAISYcal · 03/07/2008 22:58

twinkling I'm sure you can order spare bits on the tommee tippee website

MerryMarigold · 03/07/2008 23:08

lacka, it's funny, I was so PROUD of being huge the first time round (and people were asking whether I was having twins that time!), kind of revelled in it all. It was all novelty I guess.

This time I feel embarassed and large, and I can't play with my toddler properly or carry him upstairs to bed, and even getting in and out of the bath is a nightmare, and quite a lot of maternity clothes aren't fitting anymore! Feel like a moaney old so and so, and there is soooooo long to go (well, hopefully, don't want them to come too soon).

Blimey, you wouldn't think I'd just come back from hols! I am tired and it is late...past midnight French time. DH just got home with ds in last 10 mins, poor little things...so will go and see to them...

PInkyminkyohnooo · 03/07/2008 23:16

thanks lacks, I'll await your reviews!

vbab- it looks really good, the tomme tippee- I bought one today. The box fits the pump and small bottle or two large bottles. I wont'be using it a great deal, so that should do me.

I'm not sure about the stopping, Twinkling- I had to stop sometimes with the avent one as the milk would get stuck in the top part- I have a pretty big let-down!lol.

I had the closer to nature bottles for DD and they are really good. When I bought them, I actuallly bought the microwave/cold water steriliser as I melted my avent one (never put steriliser on warm hob-doh!). I got it half price at the time in Asda and it came with the bottles. It's a good steriliser-lots of room for things, opens more easily than the avent one I had, and the lid opens flat so you have a sterile surface to use. Ebayed it, though, I'm afraid!

HI MM- glad you hadd a good hol.

PInkyminkyohnooo · 03/07/2008 23:21

They are on offer on the tommee tippe website, the pump I mean.

MerryMarigold · 04/07/2008 05:06

Mornin all. Dozy, I beat ya to it today. Can't sleep. Dh snoring (in room next door!). Too much excitement coming home...luckily dh isn't working today so won't have to take care of ds on own and will definitely get some sleep in later.

Tried to catch up with last thread, got to page 8 and then mumsnet couldn't open page 9. Tried twice. Am off again to try and catch up on all the gossip.
