vbab, really feel for you. i feel the same. took ds to playschool today and just about managed to brush my teeth, but that was it! Trackie bottoms, baggy T-shirt (through which you can still see popped out belly button), messy hair. Arghhh. I am not someone who really spends much on clothes and I never wear makeup etc., and I am usually ok about the way I look, it doesn't bother me - but even I don't feel happy with the way I look. Dh is being very sweet and saying he is proud of my huge bump because it shows babies are growing well! And he's always preferred me in big pyjamas rather than sexy nighties, so he is THE BEST, but yeah...I am not a happy girl.

Eczema is horrid. Ds had very badly as a baby. We went through all sorts. In the end we found a regime which works really well for us. I can't recommend Aveeno highly enough. We use Balneum in the bath, which I think is better than Oilatum. (But he still wants bubbles, poor boy!). We also have some strong steroid (Betnovate) for his body and a different one for face, which needs to be prescribed by a consultant. I don't mind using it because it's usually very small patches which clear up in 1-2 days of using the cream and it's so rare these days. I used 'wash nuts' for his clothes but now have managed to go back to Fairy Non-Bio (seems the best non-b) for him most washes. If it flares up I use the washnuts again (they contain no chemicals). He has discoid eczema though, so it's a bit of a different sort - very weepy. I was thinking of the homeopathic route, but this all seems to have worked well (we had some good luck I think) and we hardly ever use the steroids anymore, so I didn't, but I know it works for some people very well...I do hope it gets better for you and suiledonn.

Hi Yorky, we did get homeopathy for dd when she was a lot younger and it did help a bit at the time. Her skin was very good for ages but it has really flared up again in the last few weeks so we might take her again.

Tinkerisdead · 15/07/2008 09:58

PMSL okay so ive flicked back a few pages and can truly see that Pinkali is back from hols with talk of private time and swallowing ha ha ha.

MerryMarigold · 15/07/2008 10:34

hana - i tried ecover non bio too! i use eco products for us, (i really like that one in a black tub) and no fabric conditioner for anyone! but Fairy is def. the best for him. sorry it is flaring up for you on bump. My belly button has gone dark brown and scabby and the area around it (about as big as a cupcake!). It's really gross. It did that right at the end of my pregnancy before, but still 15 weeks to go here! do you think bio oil is safe to use during pregnancy? or vitamin e capsules?

Pinkali37 · 15/07/2008 10:34

Morning Dr's Wife. Pleased you also had a good holiday. Any further bump pictures??? You can always rely on pinkali to sufficiently lower the tone!!

I read to Tarquin when I get into bed. Although I also read the same book twice this morning whilst DH was in the shower. You should get the "Guess How Much I Love You" story although to be fair, it is a good job we can't drink because it is a bit of a tongue twister with all the little nut brown hare and big nut brown hare...

LackaDAISYcal · 15/07/2008 10:35

just a quickie from me this morning to link this thread. There are various picnic happening next week to protest about the recent legislation re BFing in public (or rather lack of protection for BFing in public). There have been calls to have a similar bill to that which already exists in Scotland, but the response from No10 is that the equalities bill covers women BFing up to six months old babies. BF groups, understandably, want this extended to 2 years as per Scottish legislation.

Anyway..., if anyone can make it to their nearest one, the more support the better. Pregnant women and women who have stopped feeding are also welcome; as long as you broadly support the cause. I'm hoping to get to the one in Durham on Monday, if DH is still working from home that day

MM...bio oil perfectly safe in pregnancy. I used it with DD, and only got a few more stretch marks than the ones I had already from DS!

MerryMarigold · 15/07/2008 11:13

Thanks lacka and hana. will splash out some bio and see how it goes. have been using body shop body butter, but to no avail!

Anyone else think we ought to think of a new title for the next thread fairly soon?

MerryMarigold · 15/07/2008 11:31

hmmmm...either something along the lines of kicking, being over emotional or swallowing!

ChocOrange05 · 15/07/2008 11:33

How about

"Due Nov 2008 - Have our Belly Buttons popped yet??"

ChocOrange05 · 15/07/2008 11:36

Or....

"Due Nov 2008 - we're resorting to desperate measures to make Gaviscon taste good"

LackaDAISYcal · 15/07/2008 12:10

what about "Mmmmmmmmmmmm....Gaviscon"

short and sweet, won't offend anyone, but we'll all know what we mean

Pinkali37 · 15/07/2008 12:11

How about "Mmmmmmm.... minty Gaviscon, swallowed not stirred"

Yorky · 15/07/2008 12:19

I like it Pinkali, seems understated and simple but down and dirty for those in the know!
Nice to see lackadaisycal's self imposed exile has been brief!

LackaDAISYcal · 15/07/2008 12:19

I like it pinkali....better be quick though, we are running out of thread

LackaDAISYcal · 15/07/2008 12:20

oops rumbled

but I am doing bits and pieces of housework at the same time!

vbab78 · 15/07/2008 12:41

Any one got advice for me and suiledonn as to whether of not to bother with a twin/tandem buggy for our baby and 2ish year olds?

LackaDAISYcal · 15/07/2008 12:42
