Thankyou Miaou, sorry to hijack you thread, good luck to everyone, I will ring you in the morning.

KMS · 11/02/2005 22:41

my second was smaller than my 1st, though not as different as yours Dazie! 1st was 8 lb 10oz and 2nd 8lb.(oh and 1/2oz mustn't forget that!!) M/W's all said "it was big, it'll be much bigger than your last" I was worrying about 9lb plus!
then they said my 3rd was smaller and she was 8lb 14oz! they really just guess ay these things I think!!

welcome Shely-sorry to hear you have lost a son also the fading twin as well. but as you say the baby is doing well so that is something to be thankful for.

good news on the vomitting front Twiga hope for your sake that is the end of it.
How's the hyperemisis spacecadet?

SHELY · 11/02/2005 23:49

Hi twiga! it's great to see you to! do we have any other graduates from the ttc board? hope they are all doing well, and will be joining us soon!! great due date! happens to be my birthday, lol, but who knows, we all may POP a week or 2 earlier!

it's sooo awesome to get the news on christmas day! what a great surprise! got my iui on thanksgiving, and found out on the 10th of december, so it makes thanksgiving extra special to me now, but it kind of messed up our plans for that day. (only i could get my surge the day before a holiday, lol). anyway, i hope you are feeling well, and that time passes quickly, till your next appointment! seems like the longest month of my life!! good luck

kms- thanks for the welcome! yeah, iam very thankful for the 1 baby who is alive, well and kicking! iam actually such a paranoid person, i bought a doppler, and i listen to the HB every day at home, just a quick check, to make sure all is well. how bad is that, lol? best money i ever spent

here is my 11wk, 5 day, u/s picture. it's soo much bigger and more real then my 7 week blob, lol. i think i am getting a shout out, what do you think??? (you gotto copy and paste on this board i guess)- sorry!

jellybrain · 12/02/2005 08:19

Hi Everyone,
I tried posting a couple of days ago and then managed to wipe it (cleary my member name is very apt). Was just going to add to the big first baby stories. Ds1 was 9'14oz and I spent the whole 9 months before ds2 being born in absolute dread that he would be even bigger, he wasn't only 8'4oz. The daft thing was that when he arrived the mw said wow he's a good weight and I all could think was how scrawny he looked and that I ought to give him a feed very soon bless!
I am hoping for a 7 pounder 1/2 this time (if only to get some use out of those first size baby clothes) I should be so lucky.

Erinleigh · 12/02/2005 09:02

I think my dates are wrong... was going through my diary last night and realised my last period was 12-17 November; not 20-24 as I had previously thought. So I guess I am a few days farther than I had thought.

To those who are worried about having more big babies: I really can't share from my own experience having only had one other pregnancy, but for whatever it's worth: my mum had six kids... two 7 lb babies, one 4 lb baby, one 6 1/2 lb baby, and two 9 1/2 lb babies!

There are so many of us, and I only have time to get on once every few days; I'm v sorry to not be more interpersonal, but will have to carry on putting in little bits of random chat when I can!

Hi all and welcome Shely. I finally had my midwife's appointment yesterday. Amazingly they managed to take my blood without the usual pin-cushion and bruising effect. Do you find the wheel thing they use to give due dates etc always give different results from a due date calculator on the internet? Mine was a day earlier. I was at last able to book my nuchal scan and given that it is getting late now, it has to be done next week and they only had one timeslot - 11.30am on Tuesday. Not only is that completely inconvenent for work (I've a very busy week next week) but DH is away in Milan on a business trip Monday and Tuesday. Of all the times, this is the one I really needed him to be at. I felt weepy just booking my scan, so heaven knows what an emotional wreck I will be next week. My sister is going to try and come with me, but it is half-term and she has 3 children to make alternative arrangements for (well, her 2 year-old would have to come too). When pregnant with DS the scan was such a happy occasion (in my naivity about anything going wrong) - this time I'm just so nervous. It doesn't help that they keep banging on about being older and higher risk. Still, only 3 days to wait and hopefully I'll be a happy and more relaxed person.

Miaou · 12/02/2005 13:29

Azure, all the best for your nuchal scan - hope it all goes well and you can get someone to go with you and hold your hand!

josey · 12/02/2005 13:35

hi and welcome shely
everyone is sounding very upbeat just now which is nice to hear.
Thats a shame about your nuchal sure it will all turn out ok for you.
Im having a pretty rotten time just ow, i have thankfully stopped feeling and being sick but have developed really bad head aches and im getting even more tired, to add to that DH seems to have vannished i havent heard from him since Thursday, the weather is bad so im sure its just the phones arent working but hormons are kicking in and making me a reck and all i can think of is the worst of everything.
has anyone been losing a few pounds that where gained although still appearing to gown in the pg shape? I seem to be going down in weight slightly not alot, but still gorwing a nice little bump hoping that my fat is just getting eaten up by bump and nothing wrong - what a stresser im becoming!

Dazie · 12/02/2005 13:40

Hi all
today I am feeling hungry not felt this in a while due to the thought of food making me sick! I lost half a stone due to sickness which isnt so great but now looks like its all going back on vey quickly especially as I have a strong craving for fried bread together with tinned tomatos, had some this morning and it was GREAT!!Anyone else had cravings yet?

Im glad the sickness is now passing it seemed to go on for ages I have really missed my food although there are still a few things that make me feel a bit queazy.

Miaou · 12/02/2005 13:42

Josey I'm just the same, I put on about three pounds, then lost it again, I am now back to pre-pregnancy weight but have a nicely rounded tum! I haven't met my midwife yet or been weighed, but no-one seems to be worried as yet. I put on 2 and a half stone when pg with dd1 (that's 35 pounds to you americans!), didn't weigh myself when pg with dd2. I have always found it difficult to gain weight though.

Twiga · 12/02/2005 19:13

Hi all, hope you've had good weekends so far.

Azure, glad you've got your scan date, sorry to hear that dh not able to go, will be thinking of you tuesday.

Josey my weight has shifted back down a bit too, figure it's just my body adjusting to being pg, plus the morning sickness.

Speaking of morning sickness, I've now had three clear days without being sick which has been ace, and yesterday I felt like and managed to cook a chilli. I love cooking but haven't been able to since becoming pg coz the smell makes me feel sick. My appetite is still not what it usually is but I've definately enjoyed my food more over the last few days. Don't think I've got any cravings paticularly although have developed a taste for cold glasses of milk and am drinking less tea/coffee and more juice - think this is just where I feel more thirsty.

Have got a really achy back, tops of bum and hip joints at the minute - gets worse if I'm led or sat for too long. It's not constant and is more annoying than painful. Should I be worried or is this part of the general pg thing? Am definately developing a wee bump not noticable through clothes but rounding out low down which is quite exciting.

Must be lovely to feel movement already Oooops!

kate100 · 12/02/2005 19:21

Welcome Shely, what a wonderful end to your journey, to be having a baby, I completely understand why you have got the doppler, I suggested it to DH and he reminded me that my best friends sister is a MW and will always pop in if need be.

Eulalia, I am totally with you on the cracker hats!!!

I'm suddely starting to grow at quite rate, there's no hiding it now, but still at that awful baggy maternity clothes stage. I'm usually a bit of a clothes-a-holic, so find maternity wear very trying, I don't want to dress like my mum, or worse my nan, which some shops seem to think I do. OK moan over.

We are moving DS into his new room tonight, so there is plenty of time forhim to forget that the nursery was his before the baby comes. I might be sleepy tomorow as he's also going to a big bed and will now be able to come and wake us up in person, instead of shouting for us. I donlt thgink I'm ready for hello mummy in the middle of the night.

josey · 12/02/2005 20:39

thanks girls feel alot better now - i was trying to make ,myself think logic like i have been eating better and not so much junk plus no coffe which means no sugar and of course lack of wine or vodka is bound to reduce the fat a bit plus the m/s and i have someone else in need of my food supply, just nice to be reasured that it happens to other people.

oh Kate 100 hope all goes well tonight with ds he will think he is very grown up now, although its hard enjoy the wee face in the middle of the night or in the morning it doesnt last, mine gets straight up now and by passes me for the cartoon could murder his grandpa for teaching him to work the tv!

I got the maternity clothes i ordered today which was nice the jeans are actually v trendy compaired to what i though they would be like so kind of looking forward to getting into them.

fingers crossed that is the end of the m/s for us all

SHELY · 13/02/2005 13:57

Hi all!! miaou- i'd kill to be at pre-pregnancy weight, i don't know what the heck it is, but iam not eating much more, and over 8lbs up already! i stopped looking at the scale altogether last week, so who knows what iam this week. I could never gain an ounce before this pregnancy, and now.....(ughh!) I was a bit under average to start, so the dr. isn't concerned, but iam, just cause of how fast, it's coming on!

Anyway as far as my babies sizes, they were small- average, so i can't relate to the big baby thing. 6lbs, 12 oz, and 7 lbs, 1 1/2 oz., but i was like 110 lbs at the time, not to mention, one was breech, and the other had to be vaccummed out. No pain meds, not even a tylenol, eigther time, due to complications (lucky me), this time i want that epidural!! lol. Anyone else, opting for the pain meds, or are you going au-natural??

colinsmommy · 13/02/2005 16:16

Shely- I had Colin naturally, and unless I have to be induced, am planning to do so again. I figured if I survived last time, I can do it again, I guess.

I've got a question for you now. Sorry if I missed it earlier on this thread, but are you an American? Just wondering if there is another one one here than me. (at least in due in August)

Miaou · 13/02/2005 16:24

Shely, my dd1 was 6lb 13, and dd2 was 7lb and 1/2oz, so virtually the same! I don't know what's happening with my weight this time either - when I was pg with dd2 I was wearing maternity clothes at 16weeks that I hadn't needed until 7 months pg with dd1, but this time I can still get into a lot of my ordinary clothes! However it is 6.5 years since I last gave birth so I suppose things have "firmed up" a bit since then. My stomach feels uncomfortably squashed though, so maybe I am just growing upwards rather than outwards at the moment!

colinsmommy · 13/02/2005 16:52

Pppplllpppppp to all of you who can still fit in your regular clothes and are due at the beginning of the month, while some of us due at the end of the month are already in them.

kate100 · 13/02/2005 17:01

Semi-disaster on the moving into his own room front, screamed for 20 minutes constantly and when DH went in he was shouting into the monitor, which we haven't used for ages, but thought it would be nice to hear him in his new room, hmmm didn't need it. I sat in his room 'til he went to sleep and then he was fine all night, he even woke up at 6 and went back to sleep, so hopefully he'll be more settled in there tonight, I think it's going to be a ase of gradually moving nearer the door. As a change this morning, DH and I got in bed with him instead of him with us, which he found hilarious.

Does anyone else have this? I am thirsty all the time, I wake up in the night and I can stick my tongue to the roof of my mouth!!!! Euggghhhh!! I reckon I must be drinking at least 3 litres of water a day and I'm still thirsty and also on the loo constantly.

On the weight front I'm still 11lbs below my pre-pregnancy weight, but have a little bump so buba is obviously fine.

I'm going drug free again, I like to be in control and don't want to miss anything. It also means I can get out of the hospital quicker, I hate hospitals and couldn't wait to get home last time, I kept pestering the staff 'till they let me leave, 14 hours after delivery. We went to Mothercare on the way home and the woman on the tills face was a picture when she asked how old he was!!

Erinleigh · 13/02/2005 17:08

Hi all... my clothes are feeling more and more uncomfortable; especially my lower abdomen - must be carrying this baby v low. I really don't want to make transition to maternity clothes yet but will probably have to soon.

Josey, where did you get your "v trendy" jeans? I really want to find some different maternity clothes... I never liked what I wore last time.

Colinsmummy, I am an American, too, but expatriate, living in the UK now.

With no intention of bringing the mood down... Have any of you NOT told anyone you are pg? I have told no one except for Dh (of course), a close friend who stays with us when she's back from uni, and a friend who's a midwife.

I feel v cautious about telling people, probably b/c my mum had quite a few miscarriages and I've always wondered if there was a possible genetic cause. Do any of you have any ideas about this, or am I still just being a worrier?

colinsmommy · 13/02/2005 17:22

I didn't realize that Erinleigh, sorry if I missed it earlier in the thread. Where are you from originally?

I know where you are coming from, because my mom was pregnant 7 times, and only managed to give birth to 3 of us, so that has always worried me, and is in the back of my mind, and I am a born worrier. But I told everyone right away, because it is impossible for me to keep a secret (about me at least) and I knew if something bad happened, I would do better with the love and support from my friends and husband's family. But that's just what's best for me.

Miaou · 13/02/2005 17:24

Erinleigh I think you just have to do what is comfortable for you. We told people more or less straightaway, an issue which was partly forced (long story), but partly our choice too. Plus I was so tired and sick that I couldn't have gone long without telling people, I was too ill to work for a while. However, a close friend of mine didn't tell anyone except very close family until she was almost five months pregnant - so you are not alone in wanting to keep the good news to yourself!

josey · 13/02/2005 18:07

Erinleigh - i got the jeans out of top shop, underbump ones, which i think when on make them look more like normal jeans, they didnt look that special in the pic but i was impressed with them and im so picky about my clothes. I hated the Jeans i got last time they made me feel like a butch builder and those over bump things i found seriously painful dont know about anyone else.

I have only told a couple of people - we told our parents at the bells which was nice. a few people are starting to guess now but im not planing making it the public till i have my scan.
I kept it that much of a secret last time that i found it hard to tell people when i could,
I also have the worry of my Mum has a condition that makes her reject babies her body just doesnt like them, Im the only one that made it out of 5, she also delveloped severe eclapmsia with her 1st and just made it herself. I was told with ds that i didnt have the same problem but it is still a worry, and i was more closely monitored for pre-eclapmsia.

Kate100 im the same as you cant stop drinking and yes the middle of the night is 100 times worse, i remember being that way before though, i kind of remember it has something to do with the extra blood and your kidneys (though dont quote me
glad the move when ok - it can only improve!

Spacecadet · 13/02/2005 20:03

Hi everyone, just wanted to pop in let you know that all was well with my scan on Friday, just a couple of days less than I thought I was they put me at 11 plus 6 on Fri, so am 12 weeks today, hooray!!!!date still the same as they only move it if its out by more than 7 days, on the baby weight front, my ds1 was 8lbs 9oz at 41 weeks( forceps, hundreds of stiches!!) ds1 was 7lb 14 at 37 weeks( stitches again) ds2 was a whopping 9lb 7 oz at 38 weeks( thankgod they induced me early!!, stitches again) and dd2 was 8lb 3 at 38 weeks, induced due to possibility of her being big, 20 mins pushing and no stitches!! yay! they told me on Fri that they might not induce early again , they will wait and see, I have to go back every month now and have the thyroid bloods done monthly at the hospital instaead of the docs which is a bit of a pain. Babe was v active and jumping about, got 3 pics onnly paid a pound, still feel sick though!

Spacecadet · 13/02/2005 20:04
