Hi all- managed to find you, hope ur all feeling well. I have had the go ahead to try for natural birth this time so I am pleased with that. Havent even thought about hospital bag the weeks seem to be going so quick now. LO keeps bouncing around lots now and I have a scan in six weeks to check the growth they think this lo might be a big one. [SMILE]

Hello again! Visited SIL2 and 4-week-old baby yesterday - he's now 10 pounds and I hope Squirmy isn't that large inside me because he's very heavy! I got lots of handling and nappy-changing practice though which was useful, although you could tell he got frustrated when he was hungry, on my chest, and going "look, there's breasts right here, just give me milk already!" He's grown out of his newborn clothes and nappies so we've got more of them now. Was very nice to get out of the house for the first time in 5 days (a meal out last Tues wore me out totally), and be driven door to door.

At how many weeks are you all going on maternity leave?

I was going to work to 37 weeks but now I'm not allowed to commute I'm working 3 days a week, using annual leave for the other two, and thinking I might start my leave at the start of August instead (34 weeks). Have to admit my work motivation is around nil at the moment...

meglet · 29/06/2008 13:17

notcitrus I've got 5 days left at work before maternity leave, although that's spread out over the next 2 weeks. I'll be 32 weeks when I finish. I'm stopping earlier than I planned as they relocated my job so I have to commute and it's way too much hassle now.

Mind you, if the weather is nice I will be a very happy bunny sunbathing in the garden. Mum & Stepdad / Dad & stepmum will still have DS to play and take him out so I can rest, and I will make the most of it .

mamamufin · 29/06/2008 14:37

Hi there.
Really hope the weather sorts itself out soon and sunbathing is my plan too meg
I only have this week in work notcitrus I will be nearly 30 weeks when I officialy start mat leave. This is earlier than planned but I am struggling with it really and just want to spend lots of time with my ds before his life changes.
I am really enjoying my day at home, I Cant remember the last time I stayed in without going somewhere (unless, ms days count, but not really with it then). I have sorted out ds toys, throwing out the broken ones and storing away the ones he has grown out of.
As I havent got much to buy now as second time around I have decided to ask my dh for a posh changing bag for my birthday. I was thinking of this one tan. Hope that works !

digitalgirl · 29/06/2008 16:59

Was planning on finishing end of Aug, and perhaps doing some work from home for the first couple of weeks of September, try and earn as much money as possible before maternity leave starts in earnest. However after having a lovely week off I'm not sure how I'll cope commuting through August 5 days a week.

Good news - We've flogged the car! We've flogged the bed!

Just need to get rid of the old mattress and start sorting out the house now. Nursery, bathroom floor and garden still waiting to be done...

Sister has disappeared this weekend so the room doesn't look anywhere near like she's about to move out, we're so annoyed with her for being a useless pain in the arse. She's been sponging off us for 9 months, been sacked from job after job, not paid us rent every week, spunked all her money on booze, fags and cabs. And now she's avoiding being in the same room us as when she does bother showing up so she doesn't have to answer any questions about exactly when she's going to move out. She's supposed to be going to Spain on Thursday and reckons she'll be out before then, I don't know how she expects to move her stuff out mid-week while we're all working. Last time she knew she had to move out of my dad's house (au pair was moving in) she pissed off on holiday for 3 months and left my dad to pack all her stuff up.

Oops, I've ranted a bit there...

I'm off to do last year's receipts for my tax return (yawn), another one of those rubbish jobs that needs doing before baby comes as I'll have no brain cells come September.

charitygirl · 29/06/2008 19:09

That sounds like unnecessary stress from your sister digitalgirl - don't think I could cope with living with any other adults other than DP at my advanced age.

My last day will be just before I hit 38 weeks - reasonably late but can't resist the money. August is a slack month anyway...right?

carrieon · 29/06/2008 19:24

LOL jenbot but at least you'll be well informed on current affairs and your breath will smell fresh!
mama I am just toooo excited about change bags too, I think I'm going to go for the Skip Hop Messenger but I'm not sure which colour.

My ball gown and linen skirt finish on ebay at 8pm and I've had no bids on either. How can this be???? I need the money to finance my change bag!

KashaSarrasin · 29/06/2008 19:28

oh arse i'm in hospital again on crappy patientline terminal! Have been having frequnet and intense braxton hicks so they're keeping me in for observation. I have fingers and legs crossed it d0esnt get worse... 31 wks tomorrow and don't really want to go into labour just yet will try to keep you all posted and hope you're all having fun and peaceful weekends

meglet · 29/06/2008 20:30

will be thinking of you kasha. I didn't know patient line did internet access too!

becaroo · 29/06/2008 20:55

kasha fingers crossed for you x

mumiyumi · 29/06/2008 21:03

notcitrus i've got 3 wks left at work, then three wks hols so officially go on maternity leave 11th Aug, thank god i've got the hols beforehand as there's no way i could cope with another 6 wks at work! i can't wait!!
i've just had last wk off and it's made me realise just how ready i am not looking forward until tomorrow though!!

Thinking of you kasha hope it all settles down again x

hopefully · 29/06/2008 21:10

Poor you kasha. Hope baby stays where it is for a little bit longer!

Re maternity leave, I'm currently planning on going at 36 weeks, and use holiday for 3 weeks, so mat leave will actually start at 39 weeks. However, am definitely beginning to struggle a little bit on the commute, so we'll see how it goes.

Am having a fun evening looking at nightshirts . AM thinking of buying a couple of nice cotton ones and dying them navy blue, rather than buying cheap primark things to give birth in and throwing them away immediately.

carrieon · 29/06/2008 21:15

Oh kasha I hope YDH is good to you, and I hope you and your baby have a restful and uneventful night!

eandz · 29/06/2008 21:28

i also hope you have an uneventful and full of rest stay at the hospital. i hope your getting good foot massages from your dp.

MummyToOneForNow · 29/06/2008 21:29

hopefully - shouldn't need to worry about dyeing the nightshirts - dh just sprayed the stuff I had worn to give birth in (and clothes that had got leaked on afterwards) with stain remover stuff and put in the washing machine - no marks at all. I just wore a big t-shirt (had gone in to hospital in tracksuit bottoms and t-shirt - no time to think about changing )

barnpot · 29/06/2008 22:19

well what an eventful week
Kasha keep those legs crossed

sorry but got to have a rant about MIL again. we went for our 4d scan this morning and thought we'd do the rounds with the photos. went to PIL house and the immediate respose we got was don't show me any pictures I dont want to see. well thats just a lovely reception don't you think? I know shes done the whole grandmother thing before but this is her only sons first child, surely she could show some enthusasm?? I was really annoyed too when she said that they will be on holiday on my due date, but now I'm quite pleased about that.
it's amazing that dh and dSIL have turned out as well adjusted as they have. sorry rant over now.

So like I said had 4d scan today, its so amazing dh still doesn't know the sex, but I got him confirmed again, and plus we picked our names finally and he'll be called Elliot James. He also did an esimated weight at birth, said if all goes to plan will be around 7.4 which i think is reasonable.
anyway love to all xxxx

digitalgirl · 29/06/2008 22:34

oh dear kasha must be a very worrying time for you...I hope the baby hangs on for a while longer. i'll keep my legs crossed for you.

Sister turned up (I hope she's not been reading this) and is currently having a Big Clear Out. All is well in the DG household.

digitalgirl · 29/06/2008 22:49

there's a due in march thread!

hopefully · 30/06/2008 09:17

Kasha hope you're feeling ok this morning.

Mummytoone thanks for the stain remover tip - maybe I'll just do that. Can always dye it afterwards if there are any particularly stubborn stains!

Oh, I had my first random-woman-gives-unsolicited-and-unhelpful-advice moment yesterday. Got chatting to a woman at a horse show who informed me that (a) I would be a bad mother if I didn't spend at least a couple of hours a day talking to and bonding with my bump, (b) that people who refer to their baby as 'it' (we don't know the sex, and it is occasionally an 'it', I'm afraid) are cruel and unpleasant, and (c) that I wouldn't be able to make it through labour without an epidural or something, and that if I though I was going to do it on gas and air I was being selfish and stupid, as epidurals are 'better'. ARGHHHHH. (ps: I am not ruling out an epidural in any way, I just don't appreciate being informed that I won't cope without one).

mustsleep · 30/06/2008 09:19

hello new thread

hop everyone had a nice weekend, it was ds's football gala so we had fun out in the rain all day yesterday and i was knackered by the time we got home
