Lets hope it's not too long before everyone is hatched and milking season is in full swing!

Baby boy, born 06/07/08. Just back from hospital couple of hours ago and absolutely shattered. Birth fine, but feeding traumas - will update, and catch up on other new births when my brain bit less fuzzy!

Congrats BDQ, and another one with a cool birth date!

Sorry to hear of the feeding traumas, can totally relate .

Look forward to hearing details of name, weight, etc.

whinegums · 09/07/2008 19:34

Hello everyone, just saw Laura and BDQ's news - fantastic. And mine - Barnaby Hernry born 6.30pm, 7/7/08, 8lb 12oz, and we're all fine - no stitches or tears for me (that's rip tears, there were hundreds of sobbing tears!).

Will post full story later, just got back home today. Feeling very lucky about the whole experience and of course the beautiful chunky monster who is just gorgeous!!!

Rolf · 09/07/2008 19:37

Horray, BDQ nad "Whinegums*. What a great name, Whinegums.

spongebrainbigpants · 09/07/2008 20:25

oops, sorry sophie, just x-posted - was trying to save you a job!!

hedgehog1979 · 09/07/2008 20:26

Congrats BDQ and whinegums. Looking forward to hearing more soon

Too all those jealous of my weight loss - I think it happened during he pregnancy as I lost around 2 stone in my first three months due to nasty morning sickness. I then gave up weighing myself but continued being sick so probably lost/maintained my low weight. People kept telling me I had lost weight throughout the pregnancy and my wedding and engagement ring were able to be removed for the first time in 4ish years!! Thinking I should contact a celeb magazine as bought Closer today (needed some trash to read at the Dr's) and they have an article about how J-Lo has lost her 3.5 stone and how Javine has lost her 3.5 stone both of them in 4 months, I can tell real women how to loose it in 2 weeks!!!

Did want to have a rant about the dr's, as it was the emergency access clinic I arrived at 14:20 having fed and changed Isaac prior to leaving. Notices in the waiting room advise that the pm clinic has shorter waiting times than the am clinic, I was finally seen at 16:45, having had to feed in the waiting room as I didn't dare use their 'special' room in case I missed my slot. But cannot really rant as while I was waiting a mum bought her child in and the child, while being seen, had a fit and an ambulance had to be called and it scared the life out of me to see someone so small being taken out by the paramedics. I hope I am never in that situation

Anyway, am taking the HV's advice and have Isaac lying on the floor on his tummy on a textured playmat and he is fascinated by the 'crinkley', 'noisy' one, ohhh and top gear on sky plus

LauraT · 09/07/2008 21:03

Congratulations BDQ wonder who was first on Sunday? did you beat 7.08 in the morning?

Yay Whinegums fab name and a nice size - not as big as you feared?- did you manage to avoid being induced then?

Also. our two latest members aren't on the list sarahpo and Hellbell so a couple more stragglers and then we can pack our bags and move to post natal!

quick birth story:

was due to go in on Saturday for induction at 1430, started having mild contractions at about 11am so by the time we went in they were moderately strong and about 6 mins apart - was 1cm dilated, so they decided to give me the prostins anyway. I progressed a bit faster then they expected and was having strong contractions after a couple of hours. Only minor moan was that my increasing pain co-incided with the 'handover' of staff and had to wait rather a long time with pain that the TENS wasn't touching before someone realised that i was ready to go up to labour suite at about 8.30pm.

The staff in the labour suite were great, had the same midwife all through, bar her short breaks, and she was lovely. had G&A for an hour or 2, then some diamorph - weird experience but found it very effective, unfortunately wore off after 2 hours and needed epidural. Huge respect to those who managed without! at 5am was ready to push, and persevered for an hour and a half, but eventually need an epis and ventouse. Had a hairy minute or two as she didn't cry straight away and they whisked her off for suction, but all well shortly there after. I also gave DH a fright by dropping my blood pressure after delivery, but again was quickly rectified.

Staff were all great, got home at 1400 yesterday. Charlotte is so far behaving wonderfully, have not yet had any vomting! we made it out the house today for a walk and everything!

Essie3 · 09/07/2008 22:22

Josie - someone has just bid on the sling on e-bay, so I'm afraid I can't give it to you for free. Sorry!
Currently making a massive profit of...99p .

Essie3 · 09/07/2008 22:28

Oh, and congratulations to our late arrivals!

Laura I too was given diamorphine. Very strange dreams indeed - totally psychadelic.

People, in despair here. Iestyn has been screaming (bar the occasional force feed) since 8pm. DH is dealing at the moment, I've been dealing off and on...we're shattered. I feel bad because DH doesn't get to spend any 'happy' time with Iestyn, but then I have him all day and he has screaming sessions at various points which I have to deal with alone, and I'm quite hopeless really. And the miserable soaking (twice) did for me, at least emotionally, and I'm so tired of the 3am feeds. (We gave him a bottle last night so that I could sleep, but he was screaming too much so I stayed awake, took the bottle, then wanted the breast as well.) DH is really tired but feels he should be responsible and cope with Iestyn in the evenings, and I feel guilty but also desperately need the time off.
Please God someone tell me that cranial osteopathy works. Infacol doesn't! We're off to the osteopath tomorrow.

Essie3 · 09/07/2008 22:30

Must do the washing up now because DH has the baby.

debinaustria · 10/07/2008 07:47

Congrats to the new babes

Another awful night here - with horrendously painful right boob, underneath the nipple but no red patches so I don't think it's mastitis but just to touch the area is very sore and when Ethan feeds I cry - real tears. I took to breathing through the pain this morning!

Anyway I was so tired and sore by the boys bedtime that I took Ethan into bed with me, slept from 8-10.30pm, then got up for a couple of hours, went to pieces about sore boob, feeding, loneliness, etc..etc...Eventually got into bed at about 12.30. Ethan could not sleep quietly in his cot - grunting and farting all night, then in the middle of the night ds2 woke up, went to see him, sorted him out, 30 minutes later he was back in our room soaking wet - he'd wet the bed, hasn't done that for years, so mad dash in the early hours to change his bed and get back to a screaming Ethan who then reduced me to tears by feeding on the sore boob.

This morning I feel like I've run a marathon, looked at my hospital info and I think there's a breastfeeding clinic today so I'll go to that and see what they say.

Will update later.

LauraT · 10/07/2008 07:51

Essie, really hope you get a good result from the osteopath, sounds like you're having a really tough time at the moment. We're waiting for ouur first meltdown, so far Charlotte has been suspiciously well behaved - she's currently fast asleep having gone down last night at 11 and slept til 4, fed for half an hour and then slept until now! Clearly, with my 4 days experience, I have no advice for you, but lots of virtual support and hugs!

LauraT · 10/07/2008 07:58

oh Deb, poor you. I hope you don't have too many chores to do this morning after a night like that!

The tenderness might be an early onset of mastitis so hopefully if you get to the clinic they can sort it early and make you more comfortable. redness often comes after onset of tenderness. (dr hat on here!)

we've got the ILs coming today. wish me luck! need to hold my breath and count to ten if SMIL says again that I've done my bit and now she's got her baby (there's no genentic link to you woman, she's definately not YOUR baby!) trying really hard with them though, as DH has felt like his Dad has become part of her family over the last few years and we don't see them very often - they've been to our house twice in 2 years, and they seem to really be trying to make an effort so far...

debinaustria · 10/07/2008 09:02

Thanks Laura - I'm off to the clinic this afternoon.

Charlotte sounds like a dream baby - 11-4 you lucky thing

hellbell · 10/07/2008 09:19

Yay everyone! Just a quickie (like THAT'S ever going to happen again ). I too have hatched. On Monday 7th July at my ante natal appointment (to have induction extended). Not really prepared.

Anyway, DS arrived 3.55pm, 9lb 7oz. Very quickly. Home Tuesday pm. Small tear, but no problems. Anyone else not expect the after pains- no one told me about that!!!?

See you over in post natal? Good luck and big hugs for all of you other lovely people.

hellbell · 10/07/2008 09:27

Ahem! Which post natal thread are we meeting up at?

katyjo · 10/07/2008 09:51

Congratulations Laura!

makecakes I've been seening an infant feeding advisor (breastfeeding specialist) as been having a few problems. Mia put on 4oz this week and she said this is perfectly normal for a bf baby and 3-4oz is actually about average, so tell your hv to take a run and jump. If she is developing well then her weight gain is fine, Hamish used to gain a lb a week but Mia is much less I have the same milk supply and feeding in the same way. Please don't worry your not doing anything wrong, but seek reassurance if your worried the bf advisors are based at the hospital just phone one of the helpline numbers.

spongebrainbigpants · 10/07/2008 09:52

Hellbell, congrats on the arrival of your son. Any decisions on name?

Don't think we've set up a post-natal thread at the mo cos there's still a couple of women here waiting to hatch!

katyjo · 10/07/2008 09:53

Sorry Congratulations Whinegums and BDQ! Great names everyone.

Upsidedowncake · 10/07/2008 10:01

I think we start our own post-natal thread? Shall we stick on here until we hit the magic 1000?

Poor you, Debs, sorry about your lousy night. When do your next set of guests arrive? Have you got a breast pump? It's possible (but damn painful) to sort early mastitis out by expressing.

Congratulations Hellbell! All these people popping at their antenatal appointments!

Good story Laura. Did it feel at all strange to be a 'service user' rather than the other way round?
