am feeling a bit more p today. My tummy feels harder. I get very little nausea in the morning. I find I cant eat anything immeadetly but later on eating stops me feeling ill.
I am quite hungry ( but then I usually am), getting grumpy at not having midwife appointment lined up. I am sure last time I had one by now.
Also does anyone know when you can hear the heartbeat

morningpaper · 11/02/2005 17:57

Heartbeat from about 10 weeks I think Cori.

I've not made an appt with the doc yet... must do that soon.

hello!!
i have been to the doctor, so am feeling a bit more organised. no midwife appointment yet but never mind.
i was wondering about the heartbeat... my book doesn't say, so thanks for that Cori - only 4 weeks to wait then!!!
Lexie100 - i guess you will have to have the same kind of scans as me as I am now considered high risk. i am having a dating scan at 7 - 10 weeks to try and rule out growth abnormalities, then possibly/probably (still under discussion with dh) amnio or cvs at 11 - 13 weeks to check for anything genetic, which would include Downs. they don't normally do amnio that early i don't think, but i shall do as i am told i suppose! i will let you know what the plan is once i have seen the specialist, probably next week or the week after. can't wait...... NOT!!
also, does anyone else have a DH who doens't want to talk about pregnancy, babies or anything else? it is driving me crazy as he won't let me tell anyone else and then won't talk to me!!! thus you see me on mumsnet!!!
(sorry for the essay!!!

Lexie100 · 11/02/2005 18:55

I looked up scans of baby on google and this is what i found.

A baby can be seen at 6 to 7 weeks and their heart beat may be detected at this early stage (90 to 110 beats per minute under 6 to 7 weeks, then 110 to 200 beats per minute as the baby matures).
Between 7 and 8 weeks, the baby and their heart beat can both be detected relatively easily.
After 8 weeks the baby and heart beat can be clearly seen. From this point onwards, ultrasounds tend to be more likely to be used to monitor the wellbeing of the baby. The ultrasound may be repeated a few days or week or so later to check the baby's growth and progress.

morningpaper · 11/02/2005 19:28

I meant heartbeat can be detected from 10 weeks I think with the thingy the midwife uses.

blimey!!! how bizarre is that? i thought it was just a bundle of cells still, not that it already had its own heart beat - don't they grow up fast?!!!!

SusiS · 11/02/2005 20:12

ohhh so nice to see more soon to be mummies here

had a quite nice day; dp was home off sick, but luckily he felt much better so could take on ds a bit more! - inbetween we played together a few computer games

i have to tell myself to eat something. especially dairy (i am not good with that yak)

but dp told me today that he really is looking foward to become a dad again!!!!!!

re names: if it's a girl we use the name we've chosen for ds - so it will be caitlin; i also quite like lisa
for boys: no idea!!!! ds was hard enough (=lucas iain)

re scan: i might have one for down syndrom because i am over 35 - at least i had one with ds! - as far as i remember they do an urin test, and if certain figures are not right they get you in again to take some fluid out of your back (?) and get a accurate result!

SusiS · 11/02/2005 20:14

not to worry josey! write as much as you like; that's what we are here for - well, you might have to listen to us moaning in return

that must be difficult!! is it your first child? maybe he's just not used to the thought yet; or he might be even scared if something happens and he's put his heart into it already? some dad take longer than others - and it is a bit scary, isn't it?

SusiS · 11/02/2005 20:17

by week 6 the little one measures 2,5 mm !!!

morningpaper · 11/02/2005 20:22

Susi: This is Josey's second child, her first child died soon after he was born (what was his name Josey?). Do you think that's why he's so reticent?

Sitting here with a bowl of porridge - bleargh. Can't face eating anything more exciting.

OP posts:
morningpaper · 11/02/2005 20:27

2.5mm Susi? Why am I STARVING all the time when I'm basically feeding a woodlouse?

OP posts:
SusiS · 11/02/2005 20:37

oh josey; that might be the reason (and sorry for your loss ) - maybe he is just scared it'll happen again; that's maybe why he doesn't want to bond just yet! - just keep being excited and with time you will pass it on to him

SusiS · 11/02/2005 20:37

lol mp! then eat awayyyyyyyy

SusiS · 11/02/2005 20:43

week 6:

If your breasts are tingling or tender it's due to increased blood flow as your body gets ready for breastfeeding. You may experience constipation so exercise regularly and eat a balanced diet with fruit and vegetables. You may experience morning sickness, this is caused by the pregnancy hormone that's secreted right after the implementation of the egg. Your little one's milestone this week is 'zipping up' the neural tube, closing over what will become the spinal cord.

morningpaper · 11/02/2005 20:44

Ahhh!

I like the way it follows morning sickness with eating lots of fruit and veg - hmmm just what I feel like when I'm gagging in the kitchen!

OP posts:
Joseyjo · 11/02/2005 20:56

he was called Samuel Arthur - Sam.
i think you are right, he is worried about getting too involved just in case something goes wrong again. all available bits crossed anyway!!

i am starving all the time. i keep waking up in the night feeling sick because i am soo hungry!! then in the evenings after a relatively big meal i feel sick from eating too much!! all self inflicted, but v annoying!

how can it be 2.5mm and have a heart beat? surely you wouldn't be able to hear/see a heart that small beating?

morningpaper · 11/02/2005 21:00

Apparently it's like a tiny heart-tube and you can see it on special ultrasounds (I bin readin'!).

I am starving/sick too. The last few starving/sick days have gone so slooowly.

Joseyjo · 11/02/2005 21:02

swot!!!

last time i read everything i could get my hands on, but nothing happened fast enough! Everything i read about was weeks ahead of where i was and patience is not one of my strong points. i can't remember any of it now anyway...
anyway, keep letting us know when you find out interesting facts!!

SusiS · 12/02/2005 07:40

morning girls! deff will let you know whatever i can get hold of - i do read alot!!!!

yep same here sick/hungry all the time
i can only start the day with a cup of tea until about 10ish then i have to convience myself to eat something - but then i feel very full again - arrrrrghhhhh we can't win, can we!

fingers and toes crossed here for you josey!!!!

cori · 12/02/2005 10:23

I seem to be waking up in the middle of the night feeling sick and hungry at the same time, and then cant back to sleep. woke up at 4.00 this morning, didnt get back to sleep until 6.00.

I told work yesterday, I know it still early days but i think there going to find it tough to replace me . My boss said I was blooming, surely not

SusiS · 12/02/2005 11:33

morningpaper · 12/02/2005 11:45

I'm up about 400 times a night for the loo. Wot fun.

Hi can I tentatively creep in under an assumed name for now. I did a test last night as I was 3 days late & it was positive ! Still hasn't sunk in yet . This will be no 2 but I've gone back to feeling like a novice ! Me & DH are both very happy although still in shock I think. According to the boots website my due date is Oct 20. Oh my god !

SusiS · 12/02/2005 16:01

welcome welcome hush! yes, it does take some time to sink in really!!!

SusiS · 12/02/2005 16:01
