Titch10 · 19/06/2008 21:51

loads of people!
it looks like quite few of you have done this before...so as a first-timer can i ask you whether this is normal...I'm only 6 weeks and I have been having sort of twinges in my lower stomach, not pain just sort of mildly crampy.
feels wierd - i'm not sure whether i should be worried.

McDreamy · 19/06/2008 21:54

Titch I remember taking a sanitary towel with me everywhere I went when first pregnant with DD as I felt like my eriod was about to start any moment. The same happened with DS and I have those mild crampy feelings again now. I obviously can't guarentee that everything will be fine but I can say that they were normal feelings for me and I have 2 beautiful children......so far

littleboyblue · 19/06/2008 21:54

Hi Titch10
Does it feel like a little popping? That's what I'm having, I'm also about 6 weeks.
I read in a mag that Braxton Hicks can start as early as 6 weeks!
If you worried, go see dr and get referred to EPU for a check. Sure it's all fine though, might just be growing pains?

littleboyblue · 19/06/2008 21:55

Oh, and I asked earlier, how do I put myself on the list?

littleboyblue · 19/06/2008 21:55

littleboyblue · 19/06/2008 21:56

Whoops, hit button twice. Idiot

laidbackinengland · 19/06/2008 22:06

littleboyblue, just cut and paste the list and add your name in a new message...

Titch10 · 19/06/2008 22:16

McDreamy, thank you for that - it feels exactly like my period is going to start (and yes, a bit like popping, LBB). Sounds like you have a lovely family... I have a docs appointment tomorrow morning- had to wait over a week to get one! - so will ask her about it. I read your uterus has to relax and stretch quite a lot just now because of it being the highest growth period at the moment..so maybe that's all it is.
My husband is working in London thru the week and haven't told any frinds or family yet just in case.. I ususally tell everyone everything so missing the support!
once you've seen the Dr how long is it til you see a midwife? do they do another test? and bloods at the 1st appointment? I feel totally clueles, even tho I am nurse!!

IHaveASecretLittleSmile · 19/06/2008 22:34

AnnieBellyB, thanks for sharing your experience, and I am amazed by the strength of the women on here. It is inspiring to read people's contributions.

I think the choices made about birth are so very personal and that is true of 1st timers and experienced mums. I hope we all get the experiences we want, but more importantly, healthy babies afterward.

Feeling very nauseous, so night all

McDreamy · 19/06/2008 22:40

No problem Titch, I am a nurse too and I found all my experience and common sense went out of the window when I became pregnant

TinkerbellesMum · 19/06/2008 22:41

Titch, early pregnancy is a lot like a period - pain, cramp, nausea, chocolate etc! Of course the big difference is the lack of blood, if you do see any ring your GP straight away or go to A&E out of surgery hours. They should ask you to come straight in so they can check if your cervix is open or not (open means that the baby is m/cing, closed means ok at the moment)

littleboyblue · 19/06/2008 22:49

Hey Titch, think the timing all depends on where you live etc as have had different times scales everywhere. Right now, I went to gp last week, had dating scan on monday and am 5-6 weeks, have booking with mw on the 9th July so will be 7-9 weeks. They normally do bookings around 8 weeks, they'll prob ask you to take a urine sample in and they should take bloods and do an overall health check. Nothing to worry about

Rachrox · 19/06/2008 22:59

Hi ladies,
Can i join your thread??
I'm due 20.02.09!! I really want to tell everyone but know it's far too early yet!

I've been reading through the thread and just wanted to say to TinkerbellesMum good luck with the pregnancy, hopefully you'll carry to term. My 1st dd was born at 28 wks and 2nd dd was 32 weeks, but then carried ds and went 6 hours overdue!!! So i'm hoping this one will be the same .

So how are you all feeling? Anyone due for scans soon? I've already worked out the date i should be getting scan appt through, feel like i'm going slighly mad .

Good luck to you all xxx

littleboyblue · 19/06/2008 23:05

Hey there Rachrox. Welcome.
Think we all going slightly mad, the beginning and the end of pg just drags! I've already had 1 scan and having another on 1st July to check for heartbeat as have m/c history, but I've still told loads of people, so fingers crossed! Is this your first?

TinkerbellesMum · 19/06/2008 23:14

Thanks Rachrox. Why were yours born early?

littleboyblue, the way I see it, would I rather tell people I was pregnant but miscarried/ not say anything at all and have no support OR tell people I am pregnant and have the support ready if there is a problem?

littleboyblue · 19/06/2008 23:21

Hey Tink. Know what you're saying. It's a tough one coz telling people also helps you to attach doesn't it? I've also found that when in the past I've told people I',m pg, to then say a week later, oh no I'm not, it makes everyone a bit uncomfortable and they don't know what to say unless they been through it, but suppose it'snot about anyone else and definately don't think it's unlucky to tell before 12 weeks, it doesn't work that way does it?
Like with ds, dp had the cot up and dressed when we still had 13 weeks to go. He a bit mad, but if anything happened wouldn't have been coz the pram was sat under stairs.
Anyway, I'm rambling now, clear sign I need to go to bed!

littleboyblue · 19/06/2008 23:23

And Rachrox, sorry, you've already guessed that I'm an idiot, I asked if it was your first just as I finished reading your post! God it's that time!! Goodnight everyone

Rachrox · 19/06/2008 23:23

Thanks.

TinkerbellesMum - Not sure why i had them early, the drs never found any reason. At first they thought it was an infection in the waters but the results came back negative. So now i'm just monitored more carefully and have the steriod injection for the lungs. I did go into labour with ds at 33 weeks but luckily they stopped the contractions! I then went into false labour about 5 times, so i'm really hoping it's a bit more plain sailing this time!

littleboyblue - Good luck with the scan. Sorry to hear of your mc, fingers crossed for this one. Glad i'm not the only one feeling insane . No this is my 4th dc, you'd think i'd be used to it all by now, but have forgotten everything ..lol..

I've told a couple of people, but i think before the 12 weeks everyone will know .

xxx

Rachrox · 19/06/2008 23:25

Goodnight littleboyblue.

Think i may be heading that way asap!
x x

TinkerbellesMum · 20/06/2008 00:09

I went into labour at 20 weeks first time, they found out the placenta had ended the pregnancy as I was being mean to it (I have a clotting disease and was attacking the placenta, the placenta is a very clever organ, there really is nothing like it, it knows when it can't hold onto the baby anymore and will end the pregnancy). Second time I just went into labour at 31 weeks, had rapid progression, which I had first time too, drugs didn't stop it. They've told me my body doesn't know that a baby has to be carried for 40 weeks so I'll never be able to go to term. It's not too bad because they can keep the pregnancy healthy and that means my baby should be strong and do well (like Tink did). I'm on Heparin injections and take Aspirin everyday, that stops my blood from clotting to protect the baby, I have a lot more monitoring, last time I had three scans a week at the end, so we should do ok.

littleboyblue · 20/06/2008 08:23

OMG Tinksmum, that sounds awful.

Singingintherain · 20/06/2008 08:52

Thank you NoNickname for the link. The information was really useful. It does look a little scary, but very interesting.

I am sorry that I am replying quite far down after your post. I have been a little too upset to come online.

Still holding head up as best I can.

McDreamy · 20/06/2008 08:56

Morning Singing! Nice to see you How are you doing?
