Oh - and apologies for the multiple postings - but my top cure for morning sickness was to wear Sea Bands. They really worked for me and the few others i've recommended them to have said they've worked too. I also find that ice lollies (especially in this weather) work well too!

Guitargirl · 30/06/2008 18:04

Oooohhh - ice lolly - mmm, strike the custard slice, what I relly fancy is a calippo.

After 18 months of being pretty much addicted to the boob, DD now appears to be self-weaning! She has dropped to one feed every other day over the last week. Thought it would be too early for changes in the milk to put her off but there you go. I do feel sad about it but I always said I didn't want to tandem feed so guess I have to look at the positive.

theSuburbanDryad · 30/06/2008 18:08

GG - if anything ds has been feeding more, especially at night! We are looking to get him in his own room though, as i wouldn't feel safe co-sleeping with a newborn and a toddler, so not sure how we're going to manage that!

Any ideas would be welcome!

MarkStretch · 30/06/2008 18:09

Evening.

BumpVlump sorry to hear your news xx

Nothing much new here, still exhausted but having a very early night tonight as DH is worn out too.

Have a busy week and weekend of dd's birthday celebrations planned so going to make the most of early nights!

Today I have been mostly eating branflakes, regretting it slightly now....

rosieposey · 30/06/2008 18:11

Hectic day today - sorry to read up about bumpvlump just goes to remind me that theres still a way to go till the 12 week mark ( well seems that way to me anyway ) felt a bit sicky today which is unusual as never had that in any of my last three pregnancys! Has to drive to Surrey today too so spent all day in the car there and back with the dog and all day sickness for company ... ah should try not to moan too much as apparently ms is a good sign ( so im reading )

theSuburbanDryad · 30/06/2008 18:12

Apparently if you get really bad ms then you are at less risk of ovarian cancer so says Mother & Baby magazine so it must be true!

herbgarden · 30/06/2008 18:13

tinkerbellesmum - I had an ultrasound (not internal) and she was able to give me a date - measured foetus and the date was one day apart from the date I'd calculated (I was temping so knew when I ovulated) - I had to drink a lot of water beforehand as I understand that pushes the sac to a more convenient place (?) Couldn't hear a heartbeat but you could see the heart beating on the machine meand it measured 168bpm...It was also 1.33cm long - when I checked against ds length it seemed small but I was 8+6 with ds and I can see from the internet that the growth is quite rapid - I presume she would have told me if she was worried re size and that's how she managed to date me........

I'm getting bored of crackers but am really craving things like meat and avocados (?!) - made a big shepherds pie yesterday which we'll have again tonight - hurray no cooking...and I reallly fancy that.

Guitargirl · 30/06/2008 18:26

Suburban - we moved DD into her own room just after her first birthday. I thought it was going to be a nightmare but she actually took to it pretty well and seemed to settle into her cot right from the start (well, except for when she's been teething really badly or when she had a bug for a few days I took her back into bed then). So, you never know - he might surprise you!

Am sure you have already thought of this but I guess I would say do it in plenty of time before baby is due so he doesn't associate the move with the arrival of his new brother or sister!

theSuburbanDryad · 30/06/2008 18:38

Yeah - this is my worry Guitargirl. The trouble is, I don't know if we'll be moving or not and the 2nd bedroom (aka ds' room) is a right state as we "only" moved here 6 months ago and it's our Room Of Requirement! So part of it is laziness, and we need to get the house sorted, but I'm reluctant to do that if we're going to be moving in the next few months.

He's very sensitive to his surroundings (PFB alert! ) and we've only just managed to get him in a cot - and a travel cot at that. I'm wondering whether to just skip the cot and get a toddler bed, he's big enough!!

rosieposey · 30/06/2008 19:24

Just wondered if anyone could make me feel a bit less worried? When i went for my scan last week ( on Friday ) i thought i was 5 weeks plus 6 days, was over the moon as she also found a little heartbeat must have only been beating a day or two but i saw it myself as well, it was a private scan so the equipment was pretty good as well by all accounts. The sonographer put me back to 5 weeks and 3 days so that would make me six weeks tomorrow. I worked out from my lmp that i was due on feb 21st obviously i must have ovulated or concieved three days afterward according to the sonographer as my due date would now be 24th feb ( three days later than i thought ) was just reading thru everyones posts today and noticed that thesuburbandryad had been for a scan today - is due only a day after me but her little one measures 3.8mm long and when i went for my scan only three days ago mine measured 1.4 mm - bit worried as that seems tiny and i checked about measurements for 5 weeks and its between 1.5 and 2.5mm long so mine was smaller than that. Seems weird that she picked up a heartbeat but i saw it myself and it did make me feel better till i realised how small it measured and that was only 4 days ago. I know its probably far too soon to worry about dates and sizes and stuff but this happened 6 months ago ( being too small for dates - although i never got to seeing the heartbeat stage ) i do know that she said the yolk sac was a little on the small side too. I know that there insn't much i can do anyway but i think (especially where i am concerned) too much knowledge is a bad thing! sorry if none of that made any sense but am really worried now

fruitstick · 30/06/2008 19:31

I think this maybe a case of too much information from the medical profession. Whilst early scans and dates are useful they can cause more concern that they ease. If the doctor said that there was nothing to worry about I'm sure that there isn't. Things can vary so wildly this early on and a heartbeat is a good sign! Maybe suburban is having a whopper!

Try not to worry and look forward to the 12 week scan when you will be able to see everything a little better!

littleboyblue · 30/06/2008 19:42

Thanx onward. I'm not wobbly, but I haven't actually been sick, but have just read the word yogurt so I might
Think you're right about embracing it though

theSuburbanDryad · 30/06/2008 20:28

Rosie - is this your 1st dc? You don't want a big baby for your first!! I would totally agree with the Fruity one, i think this is a case of TMI from the sonographer. I know it's easier said than done, but try to put it out of your mind and look forward to your 12 week scan. I'm sure everything's fine!!

(really hopes dc2 isn't a whopper!!!)

MarkStretch · 30/06/2008 20:40

It would be interesting to see if those of us having DC's 2 or more have bigger babies than before though!

I sincerely hope not in my case.

oooggs · 30/06/2008 20:42

so sorry bumpvlump

oooggs · 30/06/2008 20:44

ds1 was born at 36+4 weeks and was 7lb 14oz
dd was born at 38 weeks and was 6lb 14oz
ds2 was born at 38 weeks and was 7lb 14oz

dd & ds2 are twins

Guitargirl · 30/06/2008 20:44

The scan I had at 6 weeks and 3 days showed the baby was slightly bigger than average on the scale but it's such early days. I seem to remember DD was also slightly bigger than average on scans but she was born 7lbs, 10 oz. Bump was massive though, had to endure the 'are you sure you're not having twins' from the world and his wife...

rosieposey · 30/06/2008 20:54

Lol suburban - no i really should know better as its my 4th DC ( last one was 11 years ago) but i have a feeling that maybe it was just too early to date me properly and the presence of the rudimentary heartbeat was a good sign. Maybe the little bean will catch up hopefully just seemed soooo small in comparison to yours and i couldnt see it going from 1.4mm to 3.8mm in 4 days but i reckon its all too blimin early so im going to try and relax!!! Thanks for the advice though girls ill try to keep my chin up and not worry

MarkStretch · 30/06/2008 20:55

Wow oooggs, that's brilliant for twins. You must have been fed up by the end though!

DD was 8lb 15oz and Dh's dd was 9lb 12oz. Dear God.

Had a horrendous birth with dd though, 24 hrs ending in emergency section as she was just too big for me and got stuck. About 7lbs would be lovely this time thank you!

herbgarden · 30/06/2008 21:08

rosieposey - not sure if you saw my earlier post but I had a scan today and I am now 7 + 5 and my foetus only measures 1.33cm - I checked on ds's dating scan which I had done at 8 + 6 and he was 2.21 cm - I did a little search on the internet and it does seem that the growth is quite big from week to week but also that your measurements seem to be within the ranges

Check out www.babycentre.co.uk/pregnancy/fetaldevelopment/chart/ which indicates some averages and 8 weeks seems to say about 1.6 cm so your lengths sound pretty normal don't you think? and as someone says above, suburban might just be having a big baby - count your lucky stars if you don't have to push a big'un out !!!

herbgarden · 30/06/2008 21:09

ps anyone watching the tennis - Not sure I like Mr Murray much but that french man is getting a bit petulant as the light fades and he appears to be losing .............

fruitstick · 30/06/2008 21:14

Am glued to the tennis, after almost turning over when the gasket was serving for the match.

I think i like Andy Murray. he's a stroppy bugger but I like that - I reckon he must really annoy the Daily Mail.

Maybe it's not the taking part that counts after all!

rosieposey · 30/06/2008 21:32

Hi herbgarden, - yes your probably right, i clicked on the link you put up and i see what you mean now. I think that it really varies as well and they can probably just have a growth spurt. The info on the internet varies greatly in terms of measurements. I just saw Suburban's measurements and thought oh dear here i go again. Have to say am apt to the odd panic stricken moment as its myself and DP first and its been so long!this little ones sisters have a count down calender and are already marking off the days! Two teenagers and a near teenager are quite enough to cope with without stressing about this one too! Once again thank you all loads for reassuring me - have spoken to DP who was working late tonight and is on his way home now and he reckons im stressing about zilch too! Oh i just want to be all worry free again, im blaming it on my hormones - tis much easier said than done eh!?
