bumpvlump really sorry about your news - don't lose hope.

Take care of yourself and give yourself time to be upset about your loss - the fact that it happens to lots of people does not make it any easier to deal with.

fruitstick · 30/06/2008 13:17

so sorry bumpvlump. Look after yourself x

MissMitford · 30/06/2008 13:47

That's very sad news BvL - I really hope that you DON'T lose hope at all.

McDreamy · 30/06/2008 13:50

aw bumpvlump I am very sorry

WarmFuzzy · 30/06/2008 14:12
Sad
Neeerly3 · 30/06/2008 14:34

i had cornish pasty and spaghetti - was divine while i was eating it, now feel rubbish again!

Fruitstick - of course you can, will cost ya though!

My DH gave up when boys were first born. We started with "i'll give up when you pregs"....we went to first scan, "it's twins!" so he lit up to get over the shock......I then gave birth at 29 weeks, so he lit up to get over the shock.......The first time he was allowed to hold one them he had to strip to the waist and not have smoked for at least 2 hours so they weren't breathing anything in.....the look on his face when he first held Edward was priceless and he's not smoked since........

Neeerly3 · 30/06/2008 14:35

oh bumpvlump - was busy typing my witty banter and had not ready your post - so sorry - never give up hope.

xxxxxxxxxxx

littleboyblue · 30/06/2008 15:14

Oh Bump. So sorry. That's it though, stay positive. My 1st pregnancy was a missed m/c so know how horrible it is.
Goodluck. X

TinkerbellesMum · 30/06/2008 15:26

MissMitford, I'm not working but my OH has told work because of how difficult my pregnancies are, it's always easier to have them on side. If you don't have to tell them, you don't have to IYSWIM. There is no legal obligation but if you are struggling it can help to tell them and they have to work around you if you're not well or doing something risky they have to do a risk assessment.

littleboyblue · 30/06/2008 15:34

OMG, someone please help me! I know I am not alone with this, but what is everyone doing to try to keep morning sickness at bay. This is beyond a joke! I didn't have it with ds and constantly feel like I'm gonna throw-up. What can I do?

McDreamy · 30/06/2008 15:35

Eating! Or drinking diet coke so it make me burp - a get a moments relief from ms and it's worth it

littleboyblue · 30/06/2008 15:37

Just the thought of eating is making me want to put my head in the bowl. I've tried to have little and often and had some dry toast not so long ago.
Think ds knows and is pooing extra today!

TinkerbellesMum · 30/06/2008 15:39

lol LuLu, you don't want to know what extra I'm carrying! My back is wrecked from last time so I've not been as active as normal and put on quite a bit of weight because of it. I still have a waist though and I think my big hips and boobs carry it off so you would probably be surprised how much I weigh or what size I am. I'm already looking very pregnant!

herbgarden, did you have a TV (internal) scan? I'm more than that and they wouldn't date me, but only did an abdoscan.

Sorry to hear your news BumpVLump. Hope you will be back soon on another month.

Knax · 30/06/2008 15:40

Oh Bump, so sorry to hear that! Hope you've got people around you that can support you through it. The Bonkers Anonymous thread in trying to conceive section are v supportive if you feel the need to talk it through.
lots of love knax xx

Neeerly3 · 30/06/2008 15:44

littleboyblue - second the coke comment - was all i could face this weekend - that and mashed potato - it seems studge is the only thing that tastes nice while i am eating it, but NOTHING is stopping the actual sick feeling before and after.

Last preg i found nibbling crackers worked - the ones with nothing in, not cheesy or anything just plain crackers - kept the hunger pangs at bay and there was no taste that was offensive - it did wear off about 12 weeks too, so fingers crossed.

MissMitford · 30/06/2008 15:53

Hmmm never mind morning sickness - mornings are FINE! It's about this time of day I feel like vomiting, all headachey and uuurgh.

Thanks for all the support about telling work - I am sure that it's all gonna be fine - I don't work in a massively family-tastic environment (telly) and so it's on my mind.

littleboyblue · 30/06/2008 16:17

The MS starts just after lunch time and lasts the rest of the day!
I've been quite worried about the eating and that if I don't eat, the baby won't get all it needs to grow etc, but if I can't face eating is this ok?
I know baby will take what it needs from me and I'm probably worrying for nothing (again) but sometinmes feel the food is making it worse although I'm trying to stick to plain tasting things that don't leave an after taste.
Everything tastes funny already though

TinkerbellesMum · 30/06/2008 16:20

Baby takes what it needs before you do, so if you're not eating enough, you will suffer well before the baby. If you really aren't getting enough in that it's making you ill then then you need to see your GP asap as they can get you admitted and on a drip if it's needed.

Neeerly3 · 30/06/2008 16:22

littleboyblue, it really won't last for long (famous last words!) and your baby isn't being 'fed' yet anyway, he/she is just growing so is taking that from you and not from what you eat. Just eat when you can and however much you can - keep fluids up (perhaps fizzy spring water might settle things). dry toast or plain crackers are a way to keep a constant supply of something into your stomach and kinda keeps the sick feeling at bay.

If MS doesn't start til lunch, get a good selection of nutrients in, in the morning, banana's apples, cereals etc and then just take it easy in the afternoon.

But rest assured you are NOT harming your baby.

littleboyblue · 30/06/2008 16:25

Ok. I already knew that I think, but needed to hear it from others. Thank you.
You're right, will have to try and eat more in the mornings I think.
I keep hearing that ms passes by 3 months. Another 5/6 weeks to go then, I think!

Guitargirl · 30/06/2008 16:26

bumpvlump so sorry to hear that, thinking of you

Welcome to Surburban.

Have come home early from work today as feel like cack. Was sitting staring at my computer managing to do nothing productive whatsoever and thought it best to write the day off. Am not planning on telling them until after my scan at the end of July - all being well. Apart from anything else there are a lot of changes going on in our department at the mo with a new boss and other staff changes - thought it best to let the dust settle a bit before introducing more change.

Oooooh, I could murder a custard slice, I haven't had one of those for years...

Neeerly3 · 30/06/2008 16:27

mine defo stopped just before 12 week scan. I feel like I feel worse this time, but am coping better as I have things to take my mind off it (2 x boisterous boys help) and also that 12 week goal ahead of me.

fruitstick · 30/06/2008 16:32

There are all sorts of problems in my department at the moment as we are having to reorganise to accommodate someone returning from maternity leave. I should feel guilty for not telling them that they will have to reorganise again in 6 months time but I don't.

It's not going to go down well. I may leave it as long as possible.

Have bought myself a cream scone. i need it for the dizzy spells.

onwardandupward · 30/06/2008 17:46

littleboyblue I think there's a really different approach needed depending on whether you're actually being sick or not.

I'm not sick - once in my last pregnancy, and only once so far in this one.

If I keep my protein intake good and steady, it seems to ease things.

But the biggest thing for me is reinterpreting the sensation. It's not actually "oh my Lord, I feel pukey, is it time to whizz to the bathroom yet?" but "ho hum, blood sugar levels a bit low, feeling a bit wobbly, time to nibble something so I'll feel a bit better".

Breathing really low, right down in the abdomen rather than that shallow all up in the shoulders breathing we tend to do when we will soon be sick. That also helps.

There's something in this about acceptance and fully embracing the sensation for what it is and then it isn't so offputting. I spent the first week this time fighting it and it was awful, but now I've got the breathing and the snacking (lots of yoghurt, milk, lentilly and beany things if I can't face meat) in full swing, it's not feeling so ghastly.

But if I was actually being sick all the time, I have no idea how I'd cope with it... one friend of mine talks about eating small meals and then lying Absolutely Still for At Least Half an Hour in order to get some of the benefit from it before being sick. My heart goes out to those who are actually being sick every day.

But the tiredness. Oh my. I'm knocked for six by that this time. I'd definitely be sleeping for two if anyone would allow me to...

theSuburbanDryad · 30/06/2008 17:53

BVL - so sorry to hear your news. I hope we see you around soon.

I am due on the 23rd Feb, had my last scan at the EPU today (risk of ectopic) and Baba is 3.8mm long! Have got dating scan booked for 11th August. We've got no real idea how far along i am, as I've not had an AF since getting pg with ds, and i'm still bf-ing him.

Will add myself to the list - it's lovely to see some familiar faces and some new ones!!
