liitleboyblue - there will always be someone who just can't be diplomatic - they might not agree but they just don't have to be mean do they? Oh, and I didn't b/f. I tried, hated it, got upset about it and then just got on with the bottle and my ds is now 2 and can't see he's suffered (well yet anyway but my mum didn't b/f any of us and we're just fine) .....I don't intend to even try next time - just won't put myself through it !.....

Thanx herbgarden X

WarmFuzzy · 30/06/2008 10:34

Steer clear of breast v bottle! Guaranteed to kick off!

McDreamy · 30/06/2008 10:37

Hello all! Not feeling too bad today - for a change

Sorry to hear about the negative comments Littleboyblue I think it's really sad that some people feel it is their place to dismiss other peoples decisions because they disagree. Your baby, your body, your decision - I respect that Chin up

littleboyblue · 30/06/2008 10:38

Don't I know it. nly posted to give my support about not b/f. I didn't make any personal comments about nyone else. It's just not fair that these things are ruined by people that don't know how to stay out iof it if not going to be supportive.
Anyway, not the place!
I have just put a skirt on that last week I had to tighten round me wth safety pins. Not anymore. Scary!

LittleSarah · 30/06/2008 10:51

Thanks herbgarden. I'm sure it's fine, but a little strange I guess. Especially when I hear some of you guys talking about maternity clothes!

Weighed myself this morning, now 9 stone. When midwife phones re booking appointment I think I'll ask her.

MissMitford · 30/06/2008 10:59

Anyone told work yet? Prob not - it's too soon. I am BRICKING it. I run a department and I just know that it will go down like a lead balloon when I tell them. For some reason it's really on my mind at the moment...

LuLuBai · 30/06/2008 11:11

Hi LittleSarah - don't worry too much. Losing weight can be a symptom of early pregnancy. Esp if you have lots of nausea and / or vomiting. I have known a few people who have lost weight in the first trimester.

And those who are already going into maternity clothes are mostly people who have already had at least one baby. You are more likely to pop out early if you have already had a child due to muscle weakness and somehow your body 'remembers' what it does in pregnancy.

I'm actually finding my appetite very reduced at the moment. I am full very quickly so I am trying to make sure that what I do eat is nutritious. Last time I was similar - went off a lot of food in the early days. But in the end I gained 4 stone and I'm still carrying the best part of 1 stone extra from last time

McDreamy · 30/06/2008 11:12

Littlesarah I am loosing weight too! And this is baby no3 for me. It won't last

LuLuBai · 30/06/2008 11:14

Hi MissMitford - I'm a SAHM at the mo but last time I waited until 16 weeks. Was in a similar situation running a dept and my predecessor had gone off to have babies causing lots of upheaval and a series of disastrous maternity covers so I knew my pregnancy would be v. unwelcome. I was carrying a file around infront of my tummy the whole time petrified of telling anyone.

PinkTulips · 30/06/2008 11:16

people keep asking me very pointedly 'how are you today' with raised eyebrows...... think the whole bloody village has guessed already! and my dad has definitely guessed.... he asked me the other day 'so any news? anything you father should know about?' i'm starting to feel very paranoid!

defintely feeling rustling sensations every now and again... has quite a strong twitch from baba last night. definitely in my uterus so cant be anything but baby really.

my belly has rounded out, can't pass it off as podge now, tis a very definite preg belly

i'm having weird dreams too markstretch so you're not the only one. mine are fairly raunchy though, no lizards for me

LBB, for your own sanity just avoid anything in the breast and bottle feeding topics, tis a mad zone!

theSuburbanDryad · 30/06/2008 11:19

Hello!! Can I join in! I'm surprised there are so many of you already, I thought I'd have to start a thread myself!

PT - did I know you were pg?

herbgarden · 30/06/2008 11:41

I might wait til 14 weeks to tell work - I work part time but things are slooooow at the moment due to the economy so I suspect my temporary departure might not concern them that much - mat pay is rubbish so it's not like they're shelling out a fortune for no return !! (in their eyes)

Just returned from a dating scan - I'm 7 + 5 days and had a heartbeat of 168 bpm - couldn't really hear it but the machine measured it) - she said "10 out of 10" I think meaning everything was as it should be for now...so I was relieved more than anything....for now. No doubt I'll start worrying about the 12 week nuchal results now (I need to worry about something !!)>

PinkTulips · 30/06/2008 11:59

lol, was about to ask you the same thing! how far along are you? i started a thread in my excitement so sorta presumed everyone knew

Neeerly3 · 30/06/2008 12:04

any suggestions on lunch options that won't have me running to the loo afterwards?

God I feel rubbish and soooooo bored of this stage already. Dh has been treating me with kid gloves though, taking kids out, letting me lie in, cooking for me (ok that bits normal)....however i feel so crap i not seeing it as time off!

Just wanna get fat and glowy and well PREGNANT really!

LuLuBai · 30/06/2008 12:19

Toast & cream cheese and a slice of melon afterwards? That is what DD and I have just had.

fruitstick · 30/06/2008 12:22

Am miserable. Spent the entire weekend tiptoeing around my husband who has given up smoking. Actually, that's a lie - he only started smoking again (after 6 months) 2 weeks ago but apparently that makes no difference.

Anyway, had to put aside my feelings of wretchedness all weekend else be labelled 'unsupportive' and my git of a husband goes out for a pint of milk this morning and comes back with 20 Marlboro lights.

the bastard!

So the entire weekend has been a write off, I'm knackered, furious and the smell of him makes me sick.

Oh, but he says he'll try again next weekend.

Can't wait!!

Neerly3, can I borrow yours for a bit.

LuLuBai · 30/06/2008 12:29

Oh fruitstick - my DH has taken up smoking with a vengeance lately. He is usually a fairly casual smoker who occasionally buys a 10 pack on a night out but these days I keep finding 20 packs around the place and he keeps sloping off to the pub down the road to have a drink & a fag with all the grumpy old men.

Most annoying of all - I would love to smoke but always vowed I would give up for kids an gave up the moment I got a bfp with DD.

fruitstick · 30/06/2008 12:32

I'm glad I'm not the only one! My only weapon is to put him on rations! Given that I can't bear him to come near me at the moment because of the smell, it might be a good 12 months before he gets any action at all!

He'd probably prefer the fags though!

PinkTulips · 30/06/2008 12:38

the last time dp tried to give up he got so bad i actually kicked him out! that was 2 years ago, he's tried to cut down loads of times but it gradually creeps back up again. and before we had kids he always swore he'dgive up with me when i got preg.... as if!

i've never understood the grumpiness when quitting tbh, i get bored as i need something to fiddle with but i don't get narky. luckily i was only smoking 1-3 a day since startng again a few months back so not much to lose really, and i'm still pretending to hide the preg so tbh waving a fag around for 5 mins gives me almost as much pleasure as smoking the damn thing

my friend just texted to say she'll collect dd for me from summer camp so i've just escaped having to do the walk for the second time today.... yippee!

MissMitford · 30/06/2008 12:57

At least it's not cigars - my DH has taken to chomping on one like bloody JR Ewing (we just had a holidau in Cuba)- at first I didn't mind the smell, but now it makes me retch...

LuLuBai · 30/06/2008 13:03

cigars - bleeeurgh - poor you.

DH was given loads of cigars after DD was born. Luckily he doesn't like them and they are still sitting on the mantelpiece over a year later.

BumpVLump · 30/06/2008 13:07

Just a quick note lovely ladies-
My scan today showed a missed MC, no HB at 8 weeks so will have to be taken off the list.
Still having awful sickness (feels very odd) and having a D anc C next week.
Good luck to you all,
