So according to the chinese chart, we're all having girls then?
What's all this about maternity clothes? I don't need mine yet. Is that a bad sign? I'm so nervous. No negative symtoms yet, well no symptoms at all. Being scanned again next monday though.

Cocodrillo · 23/06/2008 12:45

Mrs Bick I am due same day as you and this is a big surprise too. No sooner had we said shall we try for no 3 than I'm pg!

Still in shock. Especially when it is already utter bedlam 24/7, so how will we cope with 3 under 5s????

LullyMummaOfOne · 23/06/2008 12:47

Hi Ladies, can I join this thread please? I got a BFP on Friday and have been itching to join but though it might be a little premature! My last peroid was 20th May and according to BabyCentre my EDD is or around the 25th Feb 09.
I havent read all the posts yet but will do my best to get though them all.

This is my 2nd pregnancy, i already have a 2yr DS. We have only been trying for 2 months so am really pleased we have now hit jack pot!

LuLuBai · 23/06/2008 13:09

Gosh - what a lot of new people there are here - hello everyone. Those of you looking for maternity clothes already - I liked Topshop last time. And have spotted some stuff in Gap recently. H&M has been suggested but always good. Blooming Marvellous and JoJoMamanBebe are good for mail order.

And hate to be a killjoy but think best to avoid posting negative comments about a particular routine-based parenting author. There was a widely publicised court case between her and this site a while back.

Those of you looking for reading matter - why not try taking a range of books out of the library to see which you feel most suits you and then buy the one you feel most comfortable with. I'm in the process of researching toddler books at the moment - some have enraged me and have been marched straight back to the library. Currently reading Dr Tanya Byron and v. interesting.

shubiedoo · 23/06/2008 13:13

Hello again all, I'm in Canada so it's only 9:00 here...
Had my first appt. with the GP, they wanted me to pay for the test if I wanted it right away, but I said no, so they sent it to the hospital where they test for free...
About parenting books, I love Birth & Beyond by Yehudi Gordon for baby stuff, and Steve Biddulph has great parenting ideas, especially for boys.

shubiedoo · 23/06/2008 13:14

According to the Chinese chart I should be having a girl too, it would be a nice change after two boys!

TummyTrouble · 23/06/2008 13:31

I only bought 2 items of maternity wear last time - a dress and a skirt. It's all I needed, can't remember how I got away with it, perhaps just wore lots of hubbies cloths.

The Chinese chart is 100% right on my last two pregnancies, so this time I should be having a boy, just to balance up the statistics.

MrsBick · 23/06/2008 13:52

littleboyblue- dont worry about your lack of symptoms. you're prob one of the lucky ones who doesnt get morning sickness! i didn't put on any weight til i was 12 weeks last time so all people are different.
cocodrillo- that's cool your the same day! it seems so far away right now doesn't it?

well, i was hoping i was safe from morning sickness for another couple of weeks but no. it hit me about an hour ago. yeuch. ginger biscuits here i come!

i have a DS aged 7 mths and i'm a bit nervous about the age gap. any of you with LOs too?

MarkStretch · 23/06/2008 15:12

Hello to all the new ones and congratulations!

Anyone else feel kind of ok until the exhaustion hits them like a BRICK WALL at some point during the day?

Snore.....

LittleMissNorty · 23/06/2008 15:16

Hello Plethora and Welcome

Are you due in March or at the end of Feb - only 28 days in Feb next year

supersteph · 23/06/2008 15:18

Hi all, I have my first midwife appointment tommorrow. I will be 8 weeks tommorrow. I have my scan on thursday so I will feel alot better after I see my little bean's heart beating. Still feel sick all day and have bin sick a few times last week. Very sore bb, so very happy to have these symptoms. xx

Neeerly3 · 23/06/2008 15:23

my bb's have grown to mammoth proportions, will be heading so marks and sparks soon at this rate......MarkStretch - exhaustion yeah hits ya like....zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz....uh eh oh where was i?

loopylula · 23/06/2008 15:23

MarkStretch that's exactly how it happens for me. I was supposed to rest whilst DD had her afternoon nap as I have been too knackered to do anything in the evenings.

It was DH's idea and all sounded fine in theory, however, I put the little miss to bed and felt quite awake so I got on with some horrible jobs that I've been putting off, like cleaning the high-chair. DD is awake now and warbling away and I am beginning to decline!

MarkStretch · 23/06/2008 15:26

I sat in a 3 hour meeting this morning at work unable to string a sentence together, got home panicking about the amount of work I have to do, sat down at laptop and zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Now unable to form logical thought processes or sit upright...

Neeerly3 · 23/06/2008 15:29

markstretch, is this your first preg? it will pass i promise - have you started taking any multivits? Iron deficiency can have extreme exhaustion as a symptom. With my last pregs they prescribed me iron tabs, perked me up, but did bung me up somewhat! This time round i am taking the preg multivits and as yet waiting to feel a bit more awake, but only been on them 3 days.

Started to get that metallic taste in my mouth today so reckon the sick feeling will kick in soon.

MarkStretch · 23/06/2008 15:36

No 2nd but last one was 6 years ago so I have forgotten loads of it! Have ordered some Spatone from my local chemist as I got quite anaemic last time, maybe they will help when I get them.

NervousMouse · 23/06/2008 15:49

I seem to be tired as soon as I get in to work but that could be the long drive along the M4. MS hasn't really kicked in yet, just starting to have small waves of queasiness.

I was chatting to my boss at lunch time and she asked me if I was pregnant, had to lie, not sure how convincing I was or if I paused too long before saying no.

According to the Chinese chart I'm having another boy, looking at it, it also got it right for DS1 too. Still it's a 50:50 chance.

TinkerbellesMum · 23/06/2008 16:15

I'm having a girl according the Chinese Chart! (TBD just tutted and said "you can't rely on that" - spoil sport!)

McDreamy · 23/06/2008 16:19

Oh he's no fun Tinkerbellesmum

imaginewittynamehere · 23/06/2008 16:20

Hello all,

Had a call from the midwife last week to book me an appointment this coming Friday, a definate improvement on last time, with DD I wasn't seen by the midwife until after the 12 week scan (we have moved since so new area). She seemed to think that the appointment would take an hour - I can't think what she thinks will take that long?? I have never had a midwife appointment longer than 10 mins & that includes blood tests & pre-eclampsia diagnosis !!

Anyway hooray for a timely appointment - hopefully she should be able to answer the questions I've got about consultant care.

For all those feeling tired I'm with you - had 2 weeks of increased energy but now seem to have crashed with a vengance. Still feeling icky until mid morning too but the rest of the time seem to have turned into a human dustbin - I must organise healthy snacks...

Chinese gender chart thinks I am having a girl- however it thinks DD should be a boy so I'm not placing much faith in it!!

McDreamy · 23/06/2008 16:21

Had an ok day today. Feeling a bit sick, not so tired, boobs not too bad! I am getting incredibly neurotic about things though! Really, really worried about a MC, and have convinced myself I have toxoplasmosis! No evidence to supprot it, but you don't need evidence when you're pregnant do you? {grin]

imaginewittynamehere · 23/06/2008 16:24

Tell me about it Mcdreamy, dd kicked me in the stomach at swimming today & I've been panicking ever since. Last time I was neurotic until the scan, am trying to keep it under control this time but not doing too well!

McDreamy · 23/06/2008 16:37

Oh at least I'm not the only one!! I frighten myself

TinkerbellesMum · 23/06/2008 16:39

Chinese chart also said Tink is a girl. It's supposed to be more accurate than most old wives tales.

MissMitford have a look in H&M, they're great and cheap for maternity clothes and they do nice nursing tops too (a bit early I know).

littleboyblue, it's not uncommon in a first pregnancy to not need them till mid-T. I never had any at all with Lily-Hope and don't forget some women don't know they're pregnant partly because they don't grow out of their clothes.

Just rang the lady from Sure Start and she said she will ask the childminder if she will take Tink full time if I end up being kept in, which is extending my free hours ALOT! I don't mind though because she is doing so well there I think it's good for her. I'll probably arrange it so that Dad (who does early shifts) picks her up after work and brings her here, then her Dad can have her after work. I was worried about going to my appointment on Friday, them saying I'll be kept in and not being able to say yes or no to them. Also have the HV coming over on Thursday, got a note from her last week so don't know if she heard I'm pregnant (possible as I left my milk voucher application at the GP reception so it may have gone to her). Will mention childcare to her too.

I've set up an email address and I'm going to set up a Google map, if you want to add yourself to it, email me my id and put @ymail.com at the end and I'll send you an email to be a collaborator on it.
