TwilightSurfer · 14/06/2008 22:52

I completely understand about the typing thing. Using my cell phone for texting is a NIGHTMARE. I'll be bringing my laptop with me to the hospital. Can't wait till you can properly type and give us all the details about what we should make sure we have with us when admitted.

TwilightSurfer · 14/06/2008 22:55

OH and just wait till you see how many are knocking at your FB door. Captain you'll need a weeks worth of home rest to catch up.

Chinese Take Out for Dinner...chicken & broc with steamed rice. YUM! I can't believe I've done absolutely NOTHING all day. My shopping list is growing but my desire to shop is shrinking. I might have to give my list to DH otherwise we'll have nothing in the kitchen to eat next week. I wish we had grocery delivery like some (if not all) of you do.

Bridget Jone's Diary is about to come on. I must get ready to do my version along with the movie. BE GLAD YOU'RE NOT HERE WITH ME.

Will check back later to see if there are any late night surfers out.

rubbish night sleep hence knackered today . Woke up with same pain i had before the bleed, gone again but got stitch and discharge now. mw about to check me over. x

oopsacoconut · 15/06/2008 09:11

Morning Cavey Pleased to see you online and that you are getting better and JErry is wriggling away. Praying you are well enough to go home soon and put your feet up there and get some proper rest.

Poppy {{{{{Hugs}}}}} What a schock to you all - Please take care of yourself and LO during this sad and stressful time.

Been up since 6.05 done weeding, slug squashing and chasing cats out of my veg garden!!! Why do they leave the beds alone when they are empty but the moment I plant something they think it's okay to use it as a litter tray???

Happy Fathers day to all those Dadddys and Daddy's to be out there.

VintageGardenia · 15/06/2008 10:13

CC how fantastic to hear from you directly, though we have had good updates on your progress. So happy the bleeding has stopped and happiest of all that your little fellow is still healthy and thriving. xxx and hugs.

poppy what an absolutely shocking thing to happen. Are you close to the family? There's something very special about old friends from college, and particularly when you live together, you build up such a shared history. I think you have to think about the big picture at times like this, and remember the overall picture of your relationship, not regret one awkward meeting you had, which I'm sure didn't charactersie your friendship. I hope her family cope ok. I also think these things hit you hard when pregnant - who was it the other day, miamla I think, we were saying how you are supertender and open when pregnant. Hugs to you.

Re. FB I agree it's a bit weird suddenly going from anonymity to seeing people's real names, let alone their faces and whatever sort of window FB is into people's lives. I did put up a photo of myself (after having it crossly pointed out that I was hiding! ) but my DS has a real thing about not having photos of himself on the internet so I respect that for him. Then you can't control what others put up, I suppose.

In terms of anonymity some suggested identifying ourselves as MNers of the Due Aug 08 board but I think for me I'd prefer to stay disconnected in that way - anyone who's on FB with me could easily identify me on here as VG and given the amount of personal stuff I've written I'm probably just as happy for that not to happen!

Anyway you all look gorgeous and mostly not at all as I'd imagined! We should have played What Do You Think I Look Like before all the befriending! That would have been fun.

Have a great Fathers' Day, hope all the dads and dads-to-be feel loved today .

alittlebitshy · 15/06/2008 10:15

So glad to see you cavey. Sorry you had a bad night's sleep... you're in the best place though - midwifes on tap

Sorry sorry sorry for lack of traybakes. In general there were barely any cakes at the fete. It's effing health and safety gone beserk. Dh put time into creating leaflets for dropping though doors asking for jams and cakes (knowing that wihiel not many people would oblige, those who did would also be guaranteed to turn up, hence boosting numbers dripping into the fete). he delivered a couple of hundrerd (as opposed to the couple of thousand he's delivered this week advertising the fete in general ) but the woman in "charge" of the fete went all picky and said it's not on cos of h and s etc etc. His point was that actually you can't guarantee that church memebers are any cleaner in the kitchen than the general public, and that he wasn;t expecting much of a result, but that it was all extra publicity for the fete, but as per usual they went all bonkers on him. It's mighty hard being a vicar - especially when you're AT LEAST 20 years younger than people in the parish, and 30-40 years younger than those who think that their way is THE way because it's always been done like that. I managed to secure one cupcke to scoff on the spot - then when i went back to get some for dd and her friend, and poss to bring home they were sold old. pah!!!

poppy OMG how terrible. Lots of hugs and please take care of yourself at this fragile time

re Silver Cross. I got mine from a site called babypages that a friend recommended. They got it for me within a week (Less i think), whereas everywhere else was saying 6 weeks!!!!!!!! It's at my parent's at the mo - I need to go down and play check it out soon.

Need to have a shower. DD is cbeebie-ing as usual, but we've read her school book so we've done something productive. Must remember i'm meant to be doing a reading in church. So that I don't look round blankly when noone comes up to do it. I have been known to leap up and go "oh, that's me" but leaping is more and more awkward with my bump, so remembering in the first place might be good!!!

I forgot to get dh a card from the bump - but he has 3 from dd (one she made at shcool, one we bought then after we'd got it saw a fabbo noisy dr who one right up dh and dd's street so that had to be got too )

poppy I'm so sorry to hear about your friend How terrible for everyone. I think VG's advice about concentrating on the whole relationship and not just one awkward moment is sound. Really hope you and her other loved ones can support each other and be kind to yourselves at such a difficult time x

I surprised DP with a homemade card and a silly picture this morning - he seemed quite touched and said he hadn't expected anything, so that was nice Am going to think of some more nice things to do for him throughout the day

cyteen · 15/06/2008 12:10

Oh, forgot to say that along with a baby-related spreadsheet I've started making a birth playlist It's hard! Hard to know what is or isn't going to hit the spot in that situation, also whether I really want some of my favourite tunes associated with blood and pain and screaming I'm still going to include some comedy choices though - can just imagine our kid being born to the sound of I Want To Break Free

TwilightSurfer · 15/06/2008 13:06

Captain, sooooo what the MW saying now? Do they have a reason for the pain (or the bleeding)?? Still holding my breath for you.

Sazzles, DH leaves the room when I watch any of my "favorite" movies. BJ was excellent but should have just put on the disc as the tv version had loads cut out. Nothing poor Shazza says was left in. However they did seem to extend the kiss at the end...

DD made DH a card this morning. I'm a little bit of an eco-geek where bought cards are concerned. We tend to make cards to give each other but I will purchase a store card for others. I have to do my part to make up for the Tahoe I drive. DH thinks I'm nutz.

We're packing up and going over to my dad's for a few hours to play in the pool with my brother and his fam. I don't really feel like being social but will suck it up since it is Father's Day. Time to go shower so I look nice in my bikini.

Sazzles I still haven't put the second(and final) coat of paint on my bedroom walls so quite of your painting project this morning. You know I realized something last night watching BJ...I haven't a clue what any of the foods they have in the movie are....turkey curry or the gravy Una was to be stirring. LOL that it was food I was paying attention to.

Buckets · 15/06/2008 14:32

Went to a carboot sale this morning, got a couple of orange baby sleepsuits (I like 'em bright and an unopened pack of breastmilk freezer bags (figured why not be optimistic). DH annoyed about the latter as he'd thought breastfeeding would mean no work for him - hadn't fully processed the concept of expressing.
DH has gone off to Brentwood to see a wrestling match tonight (permission to go and a bottle of Coke for the drive home was his father's day pressie!) When he's not around I like to experiment with food as I can't stand the martyred sighs. I've made a gluten-free loaf in the breadmaker - looks very small and seems to have a navel on the top, proof is in the eating I suppose. Going to attempt to get the kids to eat quinoa for tea - wish me luck.
TS Turkey curry is how you use up leftover Xmas turkey meat, unfortunately most British people over a certain age have a very warped concept of Indian food, courtesy of Queen Victoria.

Sazz ooh do normal freezer bags do the trick? I spent a fortune on lansinoh freezer bags last time - and was partial to lansinoh breast pads too.... that reminds me i need to buy a kit off a site. A friend is lending me her super duper hospital grade pump and I need to buy the tubes and breast cups etc. She exclusively expressed for her dd2 for 17 weeks - no idea how she managed to find the time, esp as it is her 2nd!!!!!

we just watched last night's dr who. dd has got into it - but although she isn;t scared by it it was making her ask alien related questions on sat nigth at bed time so we've started sky plusisng it and watching it on sunday afternoon. I dozed off during it though . you know that kind of sleep when you're drifting, you know you are, your eyes feel really heavy but you can't pull yourself back??

Dh is off to a service at another church soon. Not sure what dd and I will do. I imagine I'll fall into the bad mummy patterns of late and let her watch cbeebies. Unless I can get the energy to arrange some sort of minor craft activity in the kitchen .

All this painting going on makes me feel very un-diy-ified. We got a friend who is a decorator to paint baby's room (and dd's last summer and the kitchen before that) cos we're a bit rubbish at motivating ourselves and actually getting round to doing it efficiently.

Oh - I need a new birth ball. I had a flash of inspiration last night and found mine where i'd stashed it. We pumped it up, but when i sat on it we discovered it must have a slow puncture cos I ened up quite close to the floor . I know i'm heavy these days but that's a bit embarrassing . Any ideas where to get one cheap?????

HAd some nice news last night. By best friend who i don;t see v often at all (she lives in newcastle, i live in London) said that her and her dp want me to be godmother to their dd. . I need to get myself baptised now. I know - shocking, a vicar's wife who isn;t baptised. I thik it shocked some of the old biddies dears when we arrived here. I keep promising dd I will do it, and said to dh that if i ever got asked to be a godmother I would deffo do it. SO I will!!

Buckets · 15/06/2008 17:56

Have to admit I shed a tear at last week's Dr Who (caught the Friday repeat) - love that timetraveller's wife stuff.

And my two have had CBeebies on all afternoon, just playing in front of it mostly, not actually watching it. The Ukelele Orchestra of Great Britain were just on that space pirate show, playing the Proclaimers' 500miles - it was ace! Saw the Uke lot at a festival a couple of years ago doing Smells Liek Teen Spirit.
