Thank you for the positive name comments, and cyteen thank you for the recipe. It sounds very uncomplicated but tasty. Yum. Off to the supermarket later to see if they are still on offer.

PetitFilou1 · 16/06/2008 14:32

Nobody missed me then!

CC Hope you are doing ok. Dh has been away a lot. Again. And is away almost all this week too so that is why I haven't passed on my best wishes before. So more good vibes from over here.

Poppysocks Sorry to hear about your flatmate. One of dh's best friends had a heart transplant at 28 (a shock one) and someone I knew at Uni died when they were 29 so I guess - sadly - that these things just happen sometimes for no obvious reason.

Just chugging along over here. Ds2 getting very big and wriggly - I would be very surprised if I make my due date (she says hopefully) I am growing out of my maternity clothes (mostly size 12) so will need to buy bigger ones if I'm not careful. Seeing as there is only 10 weeks to go really doesn't seem worth it. TS Can you update my dcs ages sometime? Dd is now 2 and 10 months and ds 4.4 (thanks!)

Oh, I forgot to say lwfh that you might need to also cut a small amount off the bottom of the squash, to make sure it stays upright in the baking tray - just enough to create a flat surface but not so much that you cut through to the hollow centre. This is the point at which I often cock up [cack handed emoticon]

Hi pf

PetitFilou1 · 16/06/2008 14:52

Waves back to cyteen !

Buckets · 16/06/2008 17:43

Hi all
Well, I thought we may have had a trip to hospital this morning but luckily things subsided and I feel fine today. Started getting really quite painful contractions every 10-15mins about 10.30 last night, with horrid lower back pain. Managed to doze through it (always wondered how people did that!) until 12.30ish when I got rudely awoken by a big one and worse back pain. DH got me a hot water bottle and I just lay absolutely still on it, frightened moving would hurt more. Anyway, seems to have been hot enough to send the baby packing in a better direction and sleep was resumed. I'm amazed how calm I was, just working through the logistics of childcare etc in my head whilst rolling about in pain! DH was a bit anxious but I told him he wasn't allowed to panic until I did. I've just remembered I could have taken some co-codamol, all I could think was I didn't have any paracetamol in the house.

Anyway, he had day off so I went into town on my own and bought an aqua changing mat far more expensive and not as nice as the one Dizzy has kindly found online (cheers)! Oh well, got a couple of little aqua drawsheets too.

Buckets · 16/06/2008 17:44

And funnily enough it wasn't all kicked off by sex. But what's the bet that DH will be too frightened to shag me tonight LOL.

alittlebitshy · 16/06/2008 17:56

ooh Buckets how scary. Well done for keeping calm. I think I'd have had dh running around packing my hospital bag while I simply panicked and flapped!!

Have you called midwife?

TwilightSurfer · 16/06/2008 18:01

Hi!

I have shopped. I believe all toiletry items for hospital bag have been purchased. Now what shall I put them in?????

Oh and I found the most wonderful silky, black, capri sleep pants. I bought two pair and will definitely take them to the hospital with me...they look cute with my black Teva's too. I'm wearing one pair now and may remain in them until I give birth!!

Sazzles, my last OB/GYN sounds just like your MW...only I'd been seeing her for 18 years!!

Petit...updated your stats.

Shazza don't feel guilty. Our DCs are learning about human nature and that sometimes we're not our best (or on our best behavior). UNPerfectionism is the most important of things to learn (and accept).

Dizzy you sound like you're having one of my normal days.

TwilightSurfer · 16/06/2008 18:04

Longway I'm going to pull up an easy, tasty recipe for you...give me a minute.

OP posts:
TwilightSurfer · 16/06/2008 18:09

This is my most requested dish (and it is SOOO easy):

Broccoli Cheese Casserole

1 packs of frozen broccoli florets
1.5 sticks of butter
2 sleeves of Ritz crackers
16 ounces of Velveeta Cheese
pepper (to taste)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Thaw broccoli florets and place in casserole dish.
Pepper florets as desired.
Melt Velveeta and one sticks of butter in a saucepan until creamy.
Pour over florets.
Crush crackers into fine crumbs.
Melt a half sticks of butter in a saucepan.
Mix cracker crumbs into melted butter.
Spread butter/cracker mix over top of florets/cheese mix.
Sprinkle top of dish with dry cracker crumbs.
Bake 25 to 30 minutes.

You can also throw in pieces of a rotisserie chicken and turn this side dish into a one dish meal.

Yay am home! Will post later - got home around midday and slept from 2-5pm. Just off to eat pizza.....xxxx

Buckets · 16/06/2008 18:28

Nah, everything's back to normal so don't think there's much the MW could do or say, seeing her on Thursday anyway, no doubt she will be totally unmoved. Stoopid thing is it was all quite exciting and I'm feeling irrationally disappointed at not having an 8wk premature baby. Somebody slap me, tis not something to wish for!

Ooh that sounds PamperedChef-easy TS, will have to google Velveeta to find UK equivalent LOL.

alittlebitshy · 16/06/2008 18:35

when you find out what Velveeta is do tell us please buckets.

though i know what you mean. If you thought that this was it - to now not have had the baby must be a bit ....

I've just pulled a button off my trousers. grr. they're v uncomfy when I'm sat down (bear in mind I've gone up a size since I went into matty clothes, they should be a little more comfy) so I was undoing the buttons and clearly yanked a tad too hard. Luckily there is another one to hold them up so I won;' be mooning people on the tube tonight

TwilightSurfer · 16/06/2008 18:41

I really hope you guys have something similar. Velveeta is just a processed cheese block that melts nicely for any recipe. Very arterty clogging but YUMMY....good for cheese dips too.

OP posts:
Buckets · 16/06/2008 18:52

"Otherwise known as 'cheese in a box', Velveeta cheese is an American phenomenon and joins aerosol cheese1 as the only cheese products that are so incredibly fake it doesn't require refrigeration.
It has been suggested that the materials used to make the box cost more than the ingredients of Velveeta."

PMSL! Guess it's like Dairylea cheese strings?

alittlebitshy · 16/06/2008 19:06

sazz sorry wee one still not great

buckets what a shock, well done you for remaining so calm - I think I would've been flapping

you may have noticed but am going to consultant on Wed to discuss birthing options for a baby I've not fully acknowledged am actually having yet

captaincaveman those feet better be up lady is lovely to have you home and all safe and well with Jerry - what a relief it must be for you and dh.

this afternoon consisted of visitors/dance class/ quick phone call to police and now have to give a statement - don't ask - chemist for prescription and home to make tea

dh has come in and announced there is a night out tomorrow which he would like to go on, I have no problem with this BUT its the school open night which is IS farking coming too and he is NOT to be turning up at the consultant with beer breath on Wed morning - he is miraculously doing bath and bed duties without a moan in sight this evening AND claims to be feeling much better all of a sudden - funny that eh?!?!?

was a pile of pap tbh - came out of dance class (very small class with only 6 wee girls in local run down shabby shabby community centre!)

one of the mothers and I were standing yapping when I heard some argy bargy going on round the corner and wondered if it was a lady who brings her grandaughter - friend said it couldn't possibly be as the woman has never raised her voice in her puff but we thought we should check anyway

popped round the corner and sure enough here she was with one of other mothers in middle of big barney with some gadgie women deom one of the houses - apparently the wee one (who is only just 5 and has downs) had been given a fright by womans dog and run into the driveway (which has not gate/fence etc) and hidden behind the car

gadgie woman started shouting at the wee one, chased her up the drive and lifted her and put her down very roughly and they started giving verbals to mum and other lady

well needless to say argument ensued in which I became instant expert (not by choice) and was asked to contact police and have them attend - polis turned up and I left as had not seen it

presumed gadgie scumbag lady would have been given a warning re conduct by police but they've since been on phone wanting a statement - I didn't see anything so have informed them of this and passed on details of the grandmother who frankly I have a whole new found respect for

see all very boring in one of the local villages after very amaetur dance class lol

dizzydixies · 16/06/2008 19:42

good grief would someone please start telling me off for my horrific spelling/typing etc - I know I have to speed type at the work and frankly accuracy isn't the most important thing when dealing with things but still - I apologise for the above tatty effort
