that's good to hear Cavey!! Hope the tonic water helps with the legs and sleeplessness.

Btw - I'm 33 weeks today! ARGH!!!!!!!! 5 weeks and 4 days til baby comes out the sunroof .

Thinking of being naughty and having pizza hut pizza tonight. Dd has had her dinner and i TOLD dh i would wait for him ,but he assumed i'd eat with dd (when do men ever listen?) and i gather he ate vast amounts after the service he went to. He says he'll get me a pizza though....... How unhealthy am i? Indian last night, pizza tonight... i did have an apple, a pear and an apricot this afternoon though, and an avocado at lunchtime.

dizzydixies · 15/06/2008 19:06

afternoon all, just a quickie from me as completely pooped

Race for Life this morning was fantastic, 9 short of 4thousand turn out which was brilliant and Lorraine Kelly turned up and ran - she's lovely

came home, made lunch and went up for a nap, slept from about 2.30 till dh marched in and said its 5pm you know

was still sound but that was obviously my que to get up and make tea he's papped the kids in front of the tv all afternoon so god knows what time they'll go down at tonight I could have happily slept right through I think

VG completely agree while am happy enough to be on FB with everyone I don't feel the need to be outed as a MNer - too many prying eyes and it wouldn't take much to work out who I am on here - well except am due in July lol

CC glad to hear things are looking up am sure its all the positive thoughts I've been sending you that have worn me right out

Sazz imagine the wee soul being sick 3 times, you shouldn't have let her drink so much at the party hope thats it all done for now

ok girls, thats me, am done, have no more excuses/engagements etc from now on so its time to acknowledge I am in fact pregnant and will be having another baby in a few weeks - you are NOT to let me be distracted re dd1's birthday party organising etc and I want nagged to within an inch of my life for getting myself and house sorted please

college work/ childcare/ snack menu planning and hopsital appts are only exceptions to the rule

poppy hope you're doing ok today sweetie x

dizzydixies · 15/06/2008 19:14

oh and please remind me who wants what found online?

someone wanted an aqua change mat I think = sorry for forgetting - just ask away

and at some point there will have to be some serious babynaming going on

dizzydixies · 15/06/2008 19:15

aqua change mat

poppysocks · 15/06/2008 20:25

Thank you so much for all your kind words and thoughts. As you say, living with someone does bring a different level of closeness. We lived together for 2 years and socialised together too so we really knew every detail of one another's lives. Our other two flatmates managed to get together last night and got a lot of comfort from that. They both remained closer to her so have been particularly hard hit - in fact, one of their DD's has now lost a godmother. Somehow that seems particularly sad.

I'm finding it surprisingly easy to disregard the last few years when we've been less close and remember the happy times. It's just such a shock, so sad and we were still very much in the same group of friends and there's such a hole there now.

Now having to try to grapple with the logistics of hauling myself and the bump down to London for the funeral and trying to get Dr's note for flying, DD's childcare sorted, work organised etc. DH has offered to go to represent me though if it's just not looking possible/sensible.

Sorry - all v. self-indulgent.

Really good to see you back CC with Jerry in the right place for now.

dizzydixies · 15/06/2008 20:27

poppy would you not consider sending flowers and asking one of your friends who can go to do a reading for you?

oopsacoconut · 15/06/2008 21:26

Evenin' All

A quiet day in the Oops household - food shopping, napping on the sofa, bbq with the in-laws for fathers day.

Cavey - Fingers crossed that they let you go home in the morning.

Dizzy did you actually do the race??? Shame on DH for laughing.

On the food front - we had fish and chips friday evening and baby needed curry last night so felt i really needed to make something homemade tonight - bbq meat in various guises followed by Eton mess. I also needed 4 donuts - sainsbury's pink iced ring with sprinkles

sazz my dh laughs that HP sauce is too spicy for me and he's not far off it lol

TwilightSurfer · 16/06/2008 00:19

Captain, that is wonderful news. I think I've been stressing about your hospital stay all weekend. DH has even been asking about your status. Please don't hesitate to write a mini-novel once you're back at a normal computer. I'd really like to hear the whole story.

Alittlebitshy, you won't believe where DH took us for dinner.....Pizza Hut. I just about fell off the sofa when I read your post just now. I hope yours was a good as mine.

DH, DD & I had a nice time at my dad's. DD played in the pool with her cousins while I played lifeguard...since the MEN were too busy gossiping to watch them. When I complained I was told "nothing's happened so far." So I watched, sunscreened, managed food and order potty breaks for the children for 5 hours. NOW I'M TIRED!! Baby in the belly was good for me today and stayed head down ALL DAY LONG. She's trying to flip at the moment BUT I'm working gravity to MY advantage and keeping it from happening. My dad's wife is a labor and delivery nurse. She gave me a belly workover and told me what was where....what I thought was the butt was the spine but otherwise I had everything figured in the correct spots. My SIL watched with a sour look on her face because she's asked me a hundred times if she could touch my belly and I've declined. First I don't like people touching my belly and second my dad's wife is a L&D NURSE who can give me the info I want for free..she's not fondling my belly for FUN. {Twilight needs to detox from exposure to SIL.} All in all WE HAD A GREAT DAY!

longwayfromhome · 16/06/2008 00:53

Tonight in the longwayfromhome household we are going to eat english squash and coconut soup. DH unsure about this, but I think that it will be quite nice.

I'm not a very good cook, and so really only cook recipes that involve cutting things up and putting them in a saucepan together.

Also, am not sure about the "english squash" as I have never seen them before, but this was it's name in the supermarket, and they were on offer. I was expecting something more like a marrow, but it had seeds in the middle. Kind of orange and round. On reflection a bit like a pumpkin. Hum. Will see if I can find a photo.

Well, not much more news from here, church and then lunch with DH's family today - oh yes and the farmers are back on strike.

CaptainCaveman and poppysocks, thinking of you both with prayers today.

here is a photo from google of an english squash

PS names update: Tomás Agustín is the current possibility (we are pretty sure about Thomas, it's the middle name which is causing some debate) - I'm not so keen on Augustine as the English translation - I like the saint but not really the name - but my mum pointed out that we could use Thomas Austin, which I do quite like.

VintageGardenia · 16/06/2008 08:49

It's Bloomsday today! So have a little Joyce in your thoughts today, or if you can't be bothered with Joyce just think of Dublin .

lwfh how was your english squash & coconut soup? i thought it sounded rather yummy actually. I think Tomas Agustin is very sweet, are you thinking about an English equivalent for if you ever move back to Blighty, or just as a general point for him to be aware of his dual heritage?

CC and poppy hugs and wellness to you.

TS I'm with you - I don't like people assuming that just because my tummy leads my face by twenty paces it's public property and available for strokes or pats. Great you got a pro opinion on what was where! Sounds like you didn't have a restful day yesterday, enjoy today.

dd enjoy your time off for a day or so before you launch into organising frenzy! Am off to work myself now so might talk to you lassies later.

Ten pelvic floors in the car for me ... who's with me...?

alittlebitshy · 16/06/2008 09:22

poppy lots of luck sorting out what to do and how to do it for your friend's funeral. As the others have said - only do what you can physically/emotionally manage, as remember how vulnerable YOU are at the moment too. ((hugs))

TS my pizza was yummy. Dh got us me a medium veggie supreme and some garlic bread. I ate the whole lot except the one slice of garlic bread (out of 4) and 2-3 slices of pizza that dh had. and i could easily have eaten more . First time I've felt like I've still got space for food in a while!!!

Well - 2 days after the fete the men have JUST turned up to fill in the whopping great hole in our driveway. Dh wasted hours last week chasing farking EDF about filling it in cos of the fact we'd have lots of people including elderly and young passing through, and they kept promising /ignoring (depending who he talked to) and now when we're prepared to sit back and wait they turn up. lol. .

On my aganda today is to clean kitchen, do a load of washing and get it on the line (is lovely and sunny so far here :}), and book someone to come and clean the carpets then look into window cleaning. We've lived her 5 years and I've never had them done. In my defense they were only put in in 2005 (we begged the parish for double glazing) but that's still 3 years of grime. oops frenzy of .

dd - enjoy your less packed time!!! Enjoy MN

ooh just remembered that I have starbucks to look fwd to too. I have work later - and last week I went in to grab a quick pannini and a frap befoe i went in. another man ordered another pannini at the same time so they put them both in to warm. They gave him his, he took it away, they gave me mine..... it was the wrong one. I did not want it. So they gave me my money backl and a voucher for a free drink next time. yay!!!!

Dh and I have to brave Ikea again tomorow. we went on friday but idiot here forgot the money off voucher we'd received in the post, dh exploded at me, i cried in ikea , we went and wrote all the info down then realised we didn't have enough time to go to the warehouse bit as well anyhow. So we need to go back and go straight to pick it all up (and get it delivered..... it's too much and too big to fit in even our tank car).

sarahnh · 16/06/2008 11:05

Morning everyone,

just catching up and getting myself established on this thread...

Hope everyone is doing ok.. 32 weeks now and feel like its going to be forever before lo comes out!!!xxxxxxxxxxx

cyteen · 16/06/2008 11:47

lwfh that soup sounds pretty tasty to me. Another nice thing to do with that type of squash is to cut a 'lid' from the top, scoop out the seedy/stringy middle, then pour in some sour cream, chopped garlic and black pepper. Replace the lid and bake the whole thing till the flesh is tender. It's delicious and very easy (two of my favourite things).

albs I'm impressed with your Ikea fortitude. That place can drive the most even-tempered couple to violence, so well done for getting through it with just tears

Been to the doctor's this morning and got some antibiotics for my presumed urine infection, plus some thrush treatment that will hopefully be effective. Had quite a funny moment when he asked me how far along I was and I said 30 weeks; he said "Oh, so baby could be here anytime in the next 6 to 10 weeks", and I went a bit as it really does not sound long at all!

pregnancy1 · 16/06/2008 12:11

Afternoon everyone,
Can't believe how long it's taken me to catch up on this new thread!
Had a good weekend - looked okay at the ball on friday night (no sausage meat overflowing the top of my stockings - clearly the swelling doesn't go above my knees yet!). Put up the curtains in bean's room on saturday - am thrilled as Mum has clearly spent hours on them. Went out for lunch on Sunday so wasn't full on Sunday night and couldn't decide what to eat so cried my heart out. Thank goodness for a v patient DH .
Have booked a mini baby moon for the weekend when I'm 36 weeks! I'm relying on the fact that first babies are late (that and the fact we're only 3 hours from home). 8.5 weeks left - seems like ages....

Oh - random Q - does anyone else wake up with really sore legs? I'm sleeping on my side with pillows under my legs and bump (as instructed by physio) but I get such achy upper legs. v odd

miamla · 16/06/2008 12:13

poppy if there's anything i can do to help from down here in London please don't hestitate to ask. If you're planning on bringing DD down here with you, i'm more than happy to look after her for a couple of hours if that helps you at all. I understand i'm a complete stranger to you and DD but the offer's there if it would help you
Or obviously if there's anything else i can do, just ask
x

CC pleased to hear you're heading homeward, just make sure you rest once you get there

dizzydixies · 16/06/2008 12:14

thank you all for your thoughts on my less busy time - am hoping it will all go better than today has

allow me to vent for a moment please

couldn't get to sleep last night due to poor dh and his STILL bunged up nose and the noises attached, when finally got over spent night waking up for some reason convinced he was going to sleep in for early shift - ended up waking him up with all my huffing & puffing about and he gave up and went into work for 6:20 he's nearly always late on early shift so they must have about collapsed when he walked in 40 minutes early having left home at 6am, bless him

girls up and into nursery, decided to do shop in Asda (am normally a tesco girl) but instead of cutting costs I spent ages pootking about and buying random stuff £130 later and I STILL have no idea whats for tea

mad dash to Dr for apt at 10:20 and was finally seen at 11:30 antibiotics for urine infection as per letter from midwife and off to chemist - who, of course don't farking have it till tomorrow AAARRGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!

and breath, am now home, have unloaded shop (well some of it) eaten some chocolate covered corn flakes - nutrition top of the bill today, and now have to go and collect girls

what a farking waste of a morning lol

will try again tomorrow

cyteen · 16/06/2008 12:18

Dear oh dear dizzy, one of those days when you should have just stayed in bed! Never mind, to cheer you up I've made you a member of the newly formed Anti-Bs for UTIs club. Here's your badge and certificate, now let's have a nice sit down in the sickly corner

dizzydixies · 16/06/2008 12:26

oh lovely - I do like a new badge!!

off to get the girls, drop dd1 in for her school visit and hopefully dd2 will snooze before dance class at 4pm - its all go go go on a Monday in the dixie household

Shazza2002 · 16/06/2008 13:27

Afternoon ladies.

Just spent nearly an hour trying to catch up and that was only from Saturday night .

Seems everybody is generally ok, apart from poppy so sending hugs your way.

Good news cc You will feel so much better when you're at home. Lets hope they let you out soon.

Well yesterday was very bad day. Got up at 8:30 (that wasn't bad bit) decided windows and curtains needed cleaning. Anyway to cut a long story short ended up rowing with DP cause he didn't help, because he knew if he offered I would have told him no anyway (can you see I can be stubborn) but not the point . So then DD was being really naughty so got her showered and sent to bed at 6pm. I then spent the rest of the evening sobbing because I felt so alone and because I felt guilty for telling DD off.

Feel much better today though, so perhaps I just needed a good cry x

alittlebitshy · 16/06/2008 13:45

Shazza oh dear I Know what you mean about feeling guilty. My dd is trying my patience at the moment - mainly because she is so farking clingy (all the insecurity at school with horrid "friends") and I find msyelf snapping at her a lot then feeling awful all evening. yesterday after she'd done an hour of paining with me pootling around her, i sent her to the living room while i cleared up and cooked her dinner. She moaned and whinged about wanting to be with me. I got cross and told her just to go on her own without whinging. Then a few mins later i felt so bad I went in and she was looking subdued watching cbeebies, and i told her she could come in the kitchen with me and she could write me a story. You'd think I'd offered her a trip to Disneyland, she was so grateful - poor lamb . I know I am deffo reacting badly to the tic she has at the moment which is all about me obviously, and i am trying so hard to be adult and grown up and a mummy who clearly loves her - but I need to work out how to deal with my frustrations without getting snappy with dd, when she cetainly doesn't deserve it!!

Dizzy - lol at your dh getting to work early. That never happens here - and bear in mind we live over the road from the church, he should not be late lol!!!

Cyteen ooh isn't it scary when you realise how soon baby might be here ? I have less than 6 weeks now. And I'm worrying this one will try to come before my section date, so I'm panicking about that. Not even packed my bag though. Done some of the shopping for it but not consolidated it - nor have I got super-pants yet - and obviously not got nursing bras yet (am thinking maybe 36 weeks for those bearing in mind I'm being done at 38+4)....

Sorry about all the water infections lurking on this thread. I hadn't had one for years then I managed to get one (or was it cystitis) when we were ttc this baby .

Just reserved a gym ball and a new foot pump from the argos near my work. Hoping the boxes are not too huge bearing in mind I have to get home on the tube. Hopefully this ball will stay inflated and won't embarrass me by sinking me to the floor .

poppysocks · 16/06/2008 14:10

Thanks so much again for all your thoughts and your really kind offer Miamla. Although DH knew her as we were together when I lived with her, they weren't in any way close (often clashed actually) so the plan is that he'll stay her with DD. Got myself v. wound up about the logistics of funeral attendance last night but turns out that a colleague at work has a funeral in London on the same day that we're hoping this one will be, so we'd be able to travel together which would be a big relief.

It finally hit me at about 2am. DH and I are both exhausted now as there was a lot of crying, talking and looking through photo albums, but it's starting to sink in now. Have also spent the morning with a friend tracing people who might not know, so feeling like I've been a little help at least. Boss is also (for once!) being sensitive.

LWFH - That name is gorgeous. This LO (and DD) would have been Tom if a boy and Agustin is lovely too.

Sorry to hear about all the domestic frustrations. I guess the tension is starting to mount now isn't it.... Can't believe how close we are suddenly!
