hey SWEETKITTY - I know what you mean regarding bedning down - so sore and hard to het back up. I have been leaving Dds books, toys scattered about the floor, slummy mummy style, 'cos it is so uncomfy to bend now. I feel like I am ready for bursting - got to that really tight stretched belly skin/itchy stage Argg! I am so visualising bubba arriving on the 22nd June

DH is off to Aberdeen on Sunday/Monday for a meeting always worry a wee bit when he is away as no-one here to help at all.

You just feel so guilty when you snap at your DCs butI just keep telling myself Dd forgets really quickly and I tell her I love her all the time. She was rubbing my bump and kissing it saying 'Awww' in Tesco yesterday - brought a tear to my eye.

Go to bed early with a book and hot chocy and just rest - hopefully you'll feel better tomorrow.xx

sweetkitty · 11/06/2008 20:57

Oh pigley don't worry by the time I got to oh about the 7th time of this last pregnancy I got fed up and would just ignore it best I could. The babies head will be out this time and I will still be going "hah it's only a false alarm I'm off to make the dinner!"

Rumpel - I hated it last week when DP was away but it goes real quick. I tidy up on my hands and knees now and rope the DDs in to tidy too, we also play a lot of hairdressers (me sitting down getting my hair yanked about and bobbles on my toes) and doctors - me lying down getting medicine and bandages, oh seen your thing about the Kilwinning guy, his accent really annoys me do I sound like that?

mcchesers · 11/06/2008 21:13

SK- Goodness, you ok? what did it feel like?

I think my LO is trying to engage or something because I just had two quick successions of tightness and burning with baby's head poking on my cervix. Too early baby..stay put!

I just got back from the hospital tour and have lost all colour in my face. Certainly makes it all much more real. While we were touring the labour suite, this woman was having a good ol howl in the next room over..that's when I thought "oh no, I am going down". The MW got me a seat and another girl from my NHS class gave me some of her water. Scary..anyone else had that panic attack when visiting the hospital?

pigleychez · 11/06/2008 21:19

mchessers. I have mine in a few weeks and dreading it.... really nervous!

mcchesers · 11/06/2008 22:23

Pigley..the thing is there was nothing to be afraid of, and she was telling us all of the things that we could have available to us and how they would make it as comfortable and painless for us as possible..but all the while this woman was howling just on the other side of the wall. It was almost comical..but it scared me to death..still shakey.

SK- the recovery ward was just on the other side of ward 47 where I had my mc and it took everything I had to keep from sobbing in a heap on the floor, but I knew I couldn't do that in front of the girls from my class and I needed to suck it up and think positive.

Guess I'd better get out that hypnobirthing CD and get cracking on my positive affirmations. I mean, when I was in hospital before I got all my tears out the days before and took a deep breath and went in with a positive attitude, cracking jokes and DH was a complete champ the whole time. I just need to see that this is how it will be this time too. Sorry to rattle on, there really isn't anyone else I can talk to about this and need to get it off my chest. Thanks for listening you guys..xx

sweetkitty · 11/06/2008 22:29

mcchesers - you ok my dear? Honestly don't worry about it too much, your body knows what to do even if you don't, it is hard and it hurts like hell but try to see beyond that and what you get out of it, there is no other feeling like it in the world. I remember looking at the wee babies in the incubators and thinking mine is already bigger than that, I saw a 26 weeker and was Come on if it were that bad I would not be doing it for the third time or 6th or 7th like others on here.

It felt like BHs sore but not contractions IYSWIM, someone once said if you can talk when you are having one it's not a real contraction thats how you tell but bloody hell they are sore.

Pigley Just quickly while I'm watching THe Apprentice.. I bought one of these At the Bay Show, I know I probably wasted my money when I could use a muslin square or blanket or something, I just thought they looked nice and was what I needed as I can't think of anything worse than BF in frot of my FIL and am shitting myself about BF n public.. I also haven't really bought much for baby so it was a nice to have!

'Scary..anyone else had that panic attack when visiting the hospital?'

oddly mccheesers 'me' we went on tour of hospital as we are changing hosps and when we got in delivery room i felt sick and needed to sit down.

just very real!

re the picking baby up debate.... i dont carry mine too much. i like them to learn quite early to settle themselves...i do believe in skin to skin and not letting a baby get beside themselves but i do not co -sleep etc
have very laid back easy baby and toddlers so am lucky in that respect but each to his own -every mum and babe is different ...

pigleychez · 11/06/2008 22:38

Jodie- Thanks for that, looks like a good idea.

Ill see how i get on at first. My mum is pretty handy on the sewing machine and could get her to run something similar up for me.

Anyone watch the programme about big babies?

ButterflyMcQueen · 11/06/2008 22:56

no pigley was it good?

that thing looks good jodie i am quite shy and always drape my baby in a massive rug or something!!

quite tired today - done too much decorating!

mcchesers · 11/06/2008 23:09

Butterfly - Oh good it's not just me then.

I'm ok now just had to have a word with myself and run a bath. I remember how I felt with my 20 week scan when I saw my little guy and just teared up and rubbed my tummy in mad circles, grinning ear to ear..so will just think about that.

Thanks SK..I needed to hear that. I looked over at the other girls in the labour room and said..see that howling only lasts like 30 minutes tops. I bet by the time we get downstairs from the wards..her baby will be all out and cuddly and the midwife said..probably more likely by the time the lift comes. I must be tired..things don't usually get all dark like that for me.

Kaz1967 · 12/06/2008 01:00

Panic attack in hospital err me too which is why I do not want to deliver at the hospital I worked at, and could never go back to working as a nurse, over 3 years later I can not face even going into the building it happened in. Also got really panicky at the one I am booked at (hopefully LO will wait till I am up in Lincs though) thankfully on the ward and in the antenatal clinic not delivery suite and managed to keep it under control (just)

Kaz1967 · 12/06/2008 01:01

ButterflyMcQueen yes you are right every Mum and baby is different and it is different every time you have a baby, none of us should ever believe our way is the only way or the best one.

disneystar · 12/06/2008 07:10

thats true they are so different
some of my babies like to be cuddled next to me felt like 24/7
my little boy liked to be swaddled and put in moses basket
i also found if they were fractious and you go through the check list so to speak sometimes they actually like to be alone in there bed or whatever there in,i remember with one of my sons thinking omg is that all you wanted
just like us a bit of peace and quiet

i have a question about doulas please
i have boooked one and paid my deposit but tbh im not going to need her now
as im having an elective section
can i just say to her i dont see the point and explain i know the deposit is non refundable thats ok but am i expected to pay her anything else
i dont understand about these things

mcchesers · 12/06/2008 07:12

wahhhh..what a night! I feel as if someone has stuffed a butternut squash between my legs. Anyway, I couldn't sleep, couldn't sit and standing wasn't so good, just had a terrible weight on my whole pelvic region. After DH finally found a decent combination of pillows to stuff around me to get me into a comfy position..I fell asleep and woke up coughing with acid in my mouth trapped in a maze of pillows.

I slept for just a wee while and had a dream that my hospital was moved to Basra..so I guess it could be worse, eh?

mcchesers · 12/06/2008 07:21

disney- I think the deposit is for just those reasons. She has to cover her costs for lost time. I think you might just give her a ring, but you shouldn't have to pay anything else. My contract says £xx is non refundable and that's it. Does she provide post natal care after your section? Maybe you can use her for a short time post natal while you are recovering just in case you don't want to stay in hospital too long..then you don't lose the deposit. I'm sure you can negotiate something like that if you wanted.

isaidno · 12/06/2008 07:22

Morning!
Terrible night's sleep here with the carpal tunnel tingly hands thing. Never mind, feel ok now I'm up!

Disney - you prob won't have to pay your doula anymore, but best speak to her asap. Did you have any agreement or contract in writing? Have you considered you might find her useful as a post natal doula, helping you recover from your section, instead of during the actual birth?

Today's plan - collect my Tens machine!!!! And hopefully mw is coming around with my home birth pack because today I am 37 weeks!! Hoorah!

sweetkitty · 12/06/2008 07:58

Morning all

mcchesers - glad you feel a wee bit better now, yes the howling would have been for a wee while followed by crying for joy and sheer elation, in a couple of weeks you will smile and say "oh know I get what that loon sweetkitty is on about"

Didn't have that great a night myself DD1 up twice, DD2 up once, I got up for DD2 but was awake for DD1 which meant I needed to pee which is a feat in itself, I need a crane to get me out of bed!

disney - I agree would a post natal doula not be a help to you, they can do some household chores and a bit of cooking. Think you will need some time with your feet up.

I have MIL coming to visit today but she said "oh you don't have to do any catering for me" thanks thats your entire contribution to helping out when I'm hardly able to walk and have 2 children to look after! DP says I should say "theres the DDs I'm off upstairs for a sleep now see you in 2 hours" I think she would faint. She's so not the get down on her hands and knees and play types she's never changed a nappy or even got the DDs a drink of juice. DP (who is at work thanks) has told me "don't you dare run around after her and don't bite your tongue"

She's so not your typical MIL you know one where her precious son can do no wrong, she's the opposite and will slag off her children and feign surprise when I tell her DP baths the girls or changes nappies. I end up sticking up for him as he is a fantastic Dad.

Anyway sorry thats the MIL rant over better be off now got a bit of cleaning to do this morning now, then off to toddlers to have a moan about MILs with the girls (TBH think I get off lightly).

Morning..

God I feel like Mike Tyson came into my bedroom last night and practised his boxing on me! DS has a tooth coming (Ithink it cut yesterday, but he won't let me look properly) and he is the child from hell. Up 3 times last night, thank heavens for MEdised, although I've come to the end of my bottle and I don;t know where to get anothe one from as my local chemist stopped stocking it as the government think that us mothers only use it to knock the baby out, rather than pain relief.. Isn't that the point at 3.30 in the morning???????

I also tried to go shopping yesterday, was out for 1 1/2 hours and devil child tantrumed the whole way round and then when I got near the car my hip gave out again and it took my forever to get to the car, I then had to transfer a screaming toddler into his apparent torture chamber (his car seat) and put the (heavy) buggy in the boot..... I don't know how I kept it together. Anyway, he's at nursery ths morning and I've told them I'm not picking him up until Monday!

Sorry long rant over.....

ISAIDNO 37 weeks, amazing! You are now carrying a 'term' baby yeah
