Bebejones - sorry to hear you're feeling so awful Hope you feel better soon and that the doctors are reassuring

Aggie - glad you had a good night's sleep!

Mummypig - are you in Cambridge then? Just guessing from your comment about La Reve.

Kaz - I can see why you have a dilemma. I don't really have any advice to offer, but I hope it works out for you

pigleychez · 24/06/2008 14:28

Minkus · 24/06/2008 14:59

bebejones sounds like a migraine, although if you don't normally get these I'd call your midwife as I know similar symptoms can be linked with pre-eclampsia. Don't want to worry you but thought I'd mention it to be on the safe side. A phone call won't hurt and will put your mind at rest so you can concentrate on lying down in a cool dark room.

EEC · 24/06/2008 15:06

Hope you're feeling better soon bebjones. Call mw, just to be safe.

very of Aggie about sleep (pleased for you really). Am getting less and less every night.

Have just walked into town and back to watch DD in street carnival. I'm pleased I went as she looked so thrilled to see me ( I had told her I might not make it), but now can hardly move. Shooting pains in my pelvis. Ouch.

Am off to have a look at quidco now...

RUMPEL · 24/06/2008 15:27

Hi all,

LIBRALADY - aww he is lovely! your birth story is so nice too, a nice MW (hope I get one this time)

CILC - sorry to hear about your GB - must have been excrutiating - you are having a horrid time of it. How are your ribs healing up now?

My birthday today _ MINIPINK - hope you had a lovely birthday yesterday
Not doing anything special - DH is going to take over childcare tonight so I can go for aromatherapy bath with book and relax - DD was up at 5.30am this morning!

Just back from MW BP is 110/70 bubba is fine, measuring 36.5cm - spot on for dates. BUT bubba is back to back - ARRRGGGGG! [terrified emoticon} That is what happened with DD and why labour was so painful and prolonged. The head is down and unmoveable but I really need to get bubba to move to OP - gym ball and crawling - although I am on hands and knees loads with DD! I soo want a waterbirth this time so must get bubba to move.

DISNEY - I would go and get measured for sure if you can - I am glad I did as I would have been wearing completely wrong size! How are you feeling these days re DH and life in general? Hoping things are a bit brighter for you.

Well we have everything for bubba now - moses basket mattress and bf pillow arrived yesterday, nightgowns today so just need to get him/her to move and come sooner rather than later. Any forecasts DISNEYSTAR?

Take care allxxx

Heffagooday · 24/06/2008 15:38

Rumpel - Happy Birthday!!!!!!!!! And for Minipink yesterday as well (hadn't realised!). Hope you both have had lovely days!

I found some baby nightgowns the other day which just have elasticated bottoms that you can just lift up. They seem very sensible!

minipinkscottish · 24/06/2008 15:38

Congratulations Liberlady- hope all is well with you and your little boy

Had a tough few days with LO. Being early she gets tired sucking and so wanted to feed every half hour or so - I was exhausted!! Then when she was weighed she had lost even more weight and we had to go back to hospital for blood tests. It seems that it is okay for babies to loose a bit of weight after birth but they become worried if the amount is 10% or more of birth weight. Abbie had lost 11%.

So now I am expressing milk so that I can top her up after bf so that she gets a full tummy even though she gets too tired to suck. As this was really hard i am also using formula at times to top up so that I can rest a bit. Anyway after only 2 days on this regime she has put on 40g and is feeding better and for longer every feed and I got a straight 2 and a half hours sleep last night - bliss

Also had to take Abbie to have more bloods done today for thyroid function as I am on thyroxin - I had this with other dc's so I'm not too worried.

Hope all other new LO's and their lovely mummies are doing well

Libra1975 · 24/06/2008 15:43

Pigley - I think if mumsnet has taught me ANYTHING is there is no such thing as a standard birth which means I can read the thread without it making me too scared (whilst making a list of other things to take to hospital such as witch hazel!)

Aggie very jealous of your good nights sleep but sure you deserved one if you have SPD!

Mummpig - ohh love the name Luca but think that is cos it always calls to mind swarthy looking men with sexy accents!

BBJones - phone MW, but deffo go for lie down in dark room - don't forget you can have paracetamol!

Happy Birthday Rumpel, aromatherapy bath and book sounds lovely, but bet DH looking after kids the best bit!
In same scenario as you re: baby, MW this morning said it was head down 2/5 engaged BUT it was back to back, she said the best thing is next time I have a braxton hicks (which I am not really getting!) to immediately get on all fours. Are you not allowed water birth if it's back to back? B**r.

Last mothercare order just arrived and we now have everything for the baby, nothing more to do (well tidy the house I suppose) apart from wait.

Does anyone else feel like they could happily just spend 24 hours in bed until the baby comes?

Hope all those whose babies have arrived are existing in a tired fog of happiness, can't wait to join you

pigleychez · 24/06/2008 16:04

Happy birthday to Rumpel!

Happy belated birthday to minipink

BebeJones- Hope you feel better soon.. Have you rang the MW?

Well i just cleaned the oven out- Gross job that ive been putting off for ages and ages.

Definately agree with you Libra1975 about staying in bed all day.
I wake up, come downstairs still in my PJ's, MN for a while and watch morning tv, dont even up getting dressed till about 11 or 11.30.... unless im going somewhere. Sooooo lazy!

Minipink- Glad you and Abbi are doing well now.

bebejones · 24/06/2008 16:18

Had a lie down and feel slightly better, am hoping that it was just a case of over doing it a bit!! I do get migraines so maybe could have been something to do with that, although I do always feel (and usually am) sick when I get too hot. Had a jam sandwich and now got to go pick up DH from work, if I start feeling off again later will defo be ringing MW. Does anyone know if morning sickness can return late on? I had severe MS up til bout 20 weeks and it hasn't disappeared completely but wondered whether this could just be that?! Thanks for everyone's concern. Really touched! Think I will fortify myself with a plain chocolate digestive or 5 before heading out!!

Heffagooday · 24/06/2008 16:40

Bebejones - I've heard that morning sickness can come back but I think vomiting can also be a symptom of pre-eclampsia. I asked my MW about this last week after I'd been sick and she said it does sometimes happen in third trimester and that baby might have rolled/kicked/punched me somewhere that made me spontaneously throw-up.

disneystar · 24/06/2008 16:48

bebejones i always get sickness back at the end especially in the mornings

mummypig · 24/06/2008 17:27

Happy birthdays to Rumpel, and Minipinkscottish for yesterday!

Heffa I used to live in Cambridge but moved away about 8 yrs ago.

Hope you enjoy your online shopping Disney

Hope you start to feel better soon bebejones.

Heffagooday · 24/06/2008 17:43

Mummypig - We were in Cambridge for a few years. We left 3 years ago though. Lovely town I've spent most of my life in Devon though.

Gosh, we're going to fill this thread soon!

AggiePanther · 24/06/2008 17:56

Happy birthday Rumpel and Minipink for yesterday!

Bebejones - I agree with the others - def call the mw if it doesn't go - just to get your BP/urine checked.

can anyone tell me -what does a show actually look like? I never had one with either of the DDs but I just went to the loo and there was some (TMI sorry) clear jellylike stuff on the tissue - only a little bit and no blood - could it be a show/bit of mucus plug or is it more likely to be just increased discharge or something?? I have been getting a lot of 'grinding' feelings down below today so I don;t know if it's things beginning to move ....better pack my bag just in case anyway

Ooooh, exciting Aggie!

Kaz1967 · 24/06/2008 18:28

Aggie sounds like a show do not get excited though does not mean it will happen immediately can he 2 weeks does mean things are moving though. Had one too week back and yep it feels a little scary it is really going to happen part of me is scared, another excited and yet another will be just bloody glad to get the gert big lump out.

I am going up to Lincs on Sunday (being picked up by friends nearly ex) so they are allowed to arrive any time after that :D

purplejennyrose · 24/06/2008 18:29

Sounds like it could be a show Aggie - but I know it can still be a while before things get going - it could be the beginning though - how exciting!
Bebe - hope you're feeling better...

Kaz1967 · 24/06/2008 18:29

Flippin hec Jules aren't we a load of gas bags rofl

AggiePanther · 24/06/2008 18:43

Not getting too excited..I've heard you can have a show weeks before labour It's weird isn't it - the feeling that this time tomorrow I might have a newborn, but on the other hand I might not have one for another month...limbo...and you're acutely aware of every single twinge and creak.
This is my third time and I'm still thinking 'is this it?' ...I guess first time was over 13 years ago (so a hazy memory) and last time I was induced 3 weeks early so didn't really have all this.

Still I should've had my bag packed weeks ago tsk!!

Heffagooday · 24/06/2008 18:44

Hehe, the MW in my antenatal class was going on about a show being the only definite sign of imminent labour...

I love MN, it's taught me that there is no such thing as a standard labour and to ignore (mostly) all the stuff that says labour will happen in this order!
