purplejennyrose - thanks for that I am umming and ahhing over the Dash or the Duo deluxe version.

Sweetkitty - I don't think anyone who ever uses the word fine under any circumstances actually means fine. In fact it should have a new definition:
fine - a word that means I feel angry/crap/sad/in pain but I am a women and therefore not actually going to tell you that I am just going to pretend that life is dandy.

pigleychez · 10/06/2008 13:49

ohh scary stuff! Just booked my tour around the maternity unit and delivery suite at the hospital

Def feels real now. Legs crossed now till the 23rd!

minipinkscottish · 10/06/2008 13:56

Wow - how many threads is that now??

isaidno · 10/06/2008 14:00

I'm bored too SK; just had my 3rd cup of raspberry leaf today, bounced on my gym ball, been for a walk, done some knitting, mopped the floors, boring, boring, boring!

Going to do some ironing now. Oh, life is so exciting!

I'm putting my money on Twinkle and the twins being next.

purplejennyrose · 10/06/2008 14:05

OK people who know tell me about breech babies and how to turn them!!
Or shall I not bother, considering the state of my pelvis, and just go for the elec setion??!
Is this the 4th thread now? - a record?

sweetkitty · 10/06/2008 14:06

I'm still sitting here eating chocolate biscuits whilst the DDs are upstairs (so I don't have to give them any bad Mummy but too much chocolate is bad for them).

After my huge tidy up the toy effort yesterday they have wrecked it all today oh well.

OP posts:
sweetkitty · 10/06/2008 14:07

4th thread? More like the 7th

don't have a clue about turning breech babies have a search on mumsnet for ideas, theres bound to be some

Here are 17 Ways to Turn Your Breech Baby!
Be sure to check with your provider before trying the positions for turning a breech baby to see if there is any reason why you should not use them.

  1. Visualizing the baby moving down with the head very deep in your pelvis, several times a day; especially in conjunction with positions and exercises below.
  2. Swimming as often as possible. This keeps your body and pelvis loose and relaxed. Do in conjunction with headstand below if you have help.
  3. Headstand - with assistance and in a pool frequently as possible.
  4. Breech Tilt - begin at 32-35 weeks gestation. Do 3 times daily for 10-15 minutes each time, when you have an empty stomach, and the baby is active. Prop one end of an ironing board securely on a sofa or chair 12 to 18 inches high (or may use slant board). Lie down, bend knees but keep feet flat on board. Relax, breathe deeply, avoid tensing. May also use pillows on a flat surface to raise hips 12-18" above shoulders. Gravity pushes the baby's head into the fundus, tucks it, and baby can then do a somersault to a vertex position.
  5. CD/iPod headphones - place them inside mom's pants toward her pubic bone and play classical music for 10 minutes 6-8 times a day.
  6. Flashlight - try moving slowly down from the top of the uterus toward your pubic bone while you are in a breech tilt position.
  7. Massage - start with your left hand at the bottom of the abdomen and your right hand just above it. Move move your hands clockwise around the right side of your tummy. As your right hand reaches the top of your abdomen, slide the left one over your right and move it down the left side of your tummy. Your left hand leads as you you come full circle, continuing clockwise. Massage gently as you would to apply lotion. Massage for ten minutes or more up to several times each day.
  8. Clothespin - place on the small toe of each foot at the outside corner of the toenail; sideways so that the toenail and toepad are stimulated for 30 minutes per day, this is an acupressure point that is a "moving down" point. You can also do this with just finger pressure as you remember to do it.
  9. Motion Sickness band - place with the bead four fingerwidths above the inner ankle bone - another acupressure point that is used for stimulation of the uterus. Do not use this point if you are experiencing any pre-term labor.
10. Glass of orange or other juice - follow this with a side-lying position with your hips positioned higher than your feet. Babies move more after a sugar high! 11. Pelvic Tilt- with an ice pack on the top of your tummy on an empty stomach, 10 minutes twice a day. Do this while lying on your back on the floor with knees flexed and feet on the floor with three large pillows placed under your buttocks. Try this in conjunction with headphones and visualization. 12. Cat stretch - start with all fours, then lay your head and chest flat on the floor with your buttocks in the air, as you round your back and return to all fours. 13. Knee-chest position - by kneeling with hips flexed slightly more than 90 degree, but with thighs not pressing against your tummy and your head, shoulders and upper chest are flat on a mattress for 15 minutes every two waking hours for five days. 14. Belly Relaxing followed by Inversion - Partner places a shawl, sheet, towel or rebozo under mom's hips as she lays on the floor. Lift up on the corners of the cloth and shimmy her from side to side moving your hands up and down to wiggle her belly from side to side. These should be very small movements which mom should find very relaxing. Do this for about 5 minutes. Then mother kneels on the stairway landing. Walk your hands down 2 or 3 stairs into an all fours position; have your partner support your shoulders to balance you. Remain in this position for about 5-10 minutes or as long as comfortable. Also do this on an empty stomach. The following techniques to turn breech babies to vertex involve the assistance of a specialist or medical professional: 15. Acupuncture - find a acupuncturist who is familiar with pregnancy and knows the points to stimulate for turning a breech baby. 16. Webster's Breech Technique - see a Chiropractor who is experienced in this technique. 17. External Version - this can be done in the hospital at about 37 weeks; see an Ob-Gyn for assistance and more information.

disneystar · 10/06/2008 14:28

my baba was breech last week but today hes head down and ready to go

libra i think you asked me why no induction for me

i dont want to be induced as i had a bad time last baby it was 31 hours and exhausting

this baby has fused skull bones and holes in the heart pushing a baby out with bones like this is near on impossible
normally babies have soft head where the bone over rides to come down the birth canal well mine cant he can get stuck plus we dont know if his arm bones are fused (goes with the condition)if so he could break a bone in birth, plus as thats not enough im scared the induction if hes not ready will put to much pressure on his heart
long labour etc
i am an insulin diabetic i have to be on a drip constantly im not free to move or roam about
what do i do?
consultant next week lets see what they say
if baby was fine induction no prob

anyway ladies my money well cyber money is in twinkle or minipink !!!!

of to do the school run i hate this bit waddling round the place nealry in tears when i get back to car just cos of the sheer pressure

Libra1975 · 10/06/2008 14:35

ah I see, maybe the consultant will suggest bringing forward your c/s if you are worried. Hope you find a resolution you are happy with.

RUMPEL · 10/06/2008 14:53

Hi All you chatterboxes

PURPLEJENNY - I would go for acupuncture - amazing point on the wee toe to trun bubba, also the crawling around on hands and knees thing and sitting forward and not back, gym ball bouncing.

LIBRA - I do so hope LO arrives when it is okay for you - must be a worry.

DISNEY - can they not section you even if you do go into labour? IE as soon as you get to hospital?

Justjules - those bras are lovely.

I am waiting to see how big/small by boobs get before buying more bras - still have some form last time.

RE LABOUR - try not to be too scared - I know it is only natural, but we are lucky to have such good pain relief these days. I can highly recommend an epidural

My SIL was induced (a lot of people scare you with stories of labours being induced being horrendous - but she was great. Only lasted about 8 hours (her first bubba too) and she managed on G+A and diamorphine (pethidine in England I think)

The rest of my birth pool stuff arived today and my new red shoes - so I am away to open them and have a cup of tea and cake before DD awakens.

Actually managed to make it to Mummy/toddlies today - only second time I've been adn DD was awful over tired - she was rumbling around her room at 4 am this morning! She is usally do good natured too - oh well.

Byee for nowxxx

sweetkitty · 10/06/2008 14:54

disney - I think a csection would be best all round really, it doesn't matter how they get here just that they and you are safe and sound

Just logged on as I am BORED STUPID at work! Wow so much has happened! And a lovely new thread as well!

Congratulations to TJuice, Elodie is gorgeous and name and she is a gorgeous baby!

Had antenatal at weekend, was...erm....interesting! Got another one this weekend where they are going to show us what to do with the baby...as long as they start with which way up to hold it and which end the food goes in I should be fine!

I'm really struggling with bras as i think my boobs have reached mahoosive proportions and actually a hammock would probably be better than a bra, in fact I am not sure they make a bra big enough! Bravissimo do a feeding bra up to an L cup so may have to give that a go!!!! It's so depressing, would give anything for smaller boobs!!

Libra1975 · 10/06/2008 15:26

Bebe, i am so with you on the bored stupid at work thing, luckily I have no qualms about abusing the internet whilst here. I have so much work to do before ML but all I can do is surf Mumsnet and facebook. I am hoping that at some point during antenatel class someone is going to teach me how to put on a nappy.

tafftaff · 10/06/2008 15:36

Minkus...you are a genius! What would I do without MN?

I have had all my antenatal classes now and we just about touched on how to look after the baby! From what I can gather, I think they rely on the health visitor and midwife to show you this when you get home!

I have only 6 days to go now until my ML starts and can't wait. Have so much nesting to do and therefore, don't want to play at working anymore!

sweetkitty · 10/06/2008 15:36

Can I just say I had NEVER changed a nappy before DD1 was born, I think DP did her first change then I did one, didn't freak me out at all, you will cope.

I'm not at work and utterly bored too.

OP posts:
isaidno · 10/06/2008 15:43

I'd never changed a nappy before DS1 either. You just lie the (clean de pooed) baby on on it and do up the sticky tape.

pigleychez · 10/06/2008 15:47

Ive just emptyed and filled my hospital bag about 5 times and im still struggling to fit everything in!

DH says he'd get his little suitcase down from the loft for me to use, but im not taking a suitcase in! Look like a nutter!

The bag im using is a big overnight bag that i had from New look.
Ive tried to pack the basics and have extras of stuff in another bag to leave in the car incase i need to stay in longer or run out of something.

How big is everyone elses bag?

Im begining to get abit stressed/frustrated about it all!

mcchesers · 10/06/2008 15:47

Libra- There's some really good links to nappy changing on the interweb
"herewww.babycentre.co.uk/baby/newborn/changingdisposableslide/on this link", we never were shown how to change a nappy in either the NHS nor the NCT classes.

Libra1975 · 10/06/2008 15:50

I am going to pack 3 bags rather than try and get everything into one.
1 bag for me and labour.
1 bag for baby bits (that can stay in the car till after birth)
1 bag for waterbirth such as towels, change of clothes etc for DH etc.
I think I will probably also have a stuff bag to keep in the car as well i.e things I think I might need which DH can go and retrieve as and when necessary.

Not that I'm a control freak or anything.

Cheers mcchesers.

mcchesers · 10/06/2008 15:58

ugh screwed up the linky thing. Sorry still feeling a bit sick..will go back to bed in a few for an hour.

I'm with you pigley, but stressed about everything. I've got all but my jammies in my labor bag. I can't find a button down nightie anywhere and am prepared to chuck my jammies out when all is over.

DH is going to have his own bag with water, batteries, snacks, change of shirt, etc. I have a baby bag and my hospital bag separate. We've decided that if I do stay the night, and baby is here before the first week of June, then he will set everything up for when we get home. Otherwise..in the loft it all stays.
