PregnantPenguin · 05/06/2008 00:08

You're right DQ - but try convincing DH of that! (Don't think I've got any chance of nookie to try to bring labour on either now...opps.)

debinaustria · 05/06/2008 05:13

Morning ladies - 1 day closer to meeting our babies eh?

Don't think I'll be seeing mine today though - no more BH, nothing else - all very dissapointing !

Couldn't sleep any more so I'm up writing lists of things to do!!

PP - think your dh is wanting to look after you and baby, but I know just how you must be feeling - happy due date anyway!!!

Dramaqueen - did you sleep?

sophiewd · 05/06/2008 07:13

Morning all.

Pear tart - hope your DD gets better soon.

2 weeks to go and then Dday for me, a week and a bit of work left.

Getting my new car today.

Have stopped shopping, what we haven't got now we don't need

goingfor3 · 05/06/2008 08:09

Congratulations Grennfairy!!!!!!

I thought all pains were supposed to go after the baby the baby is born, not for me!!! When I was pregnant baby was often lying in my left hip and all of my labour pains were in my hips. Since Monday my left hip has been getting more and more uncomfortable, this morning I can barely walk. It feels as if it's out of allignment, hopefully I can get a dr's appointment this morning.

aberdeenhiker · 05/06/2008 08:32

happy due date for me I'm not thrilled to be sitting here still pregnant! My MIL (who originally was being helpful) is now being a major PITA too and the next 12 days entertaining her are stretching in front of me very bleakly.

(rant ahead) She's supposed to be here to help out, but apparently that doesn't apply to cleaning or helping with anything important, just playing with DS when he's in a good mood. Yesterday he stepped in the most noxious cat poo and managed to get it all over his garden toys. She just sat there while I was frantically trying to limit the spread (we had other kids over too) and clean it up - finally I had to yell to get her to go get clean clothes for DS at least. (rant ends)

bun2 - I've been in the same boat as you for a bit now and feel the same way about my medical care... I wonder if their heads will be all squished funny by the time they come out - my DS was only engaged for a week, and this ones been stuck fully engaged for two weeks now...

12 days until induction...

poppy34 · 05/06/2008 08:39

aberdeen/bun2 -sorry to hear you're suffering (and bun2 what is it about hospital/drs waiting times - do they teach them some technique in med school to keep you waiting the longest time possible)?

Feeling more cheerful today as 1. DH feels worse than me today (hangover ) 2. sun is shining and I'm off to meet NCT lot for tea later

sophiewd - what kind of new car? very exciting.our car arrived few weeks back but still very hesitant re driving it so will be taking it out at weekend to get more used to it.

Interested to hear how essie/deb get on with their trampolining. Does walking into town to supermarket after coffee count as baby inducing exercise?

Amberc · 05/06/2008 08:40

Aberdeen - careful of cat poo - toxoplasmosis!!!!!! Can't believe MIL didn't rush to help!

No interesting news from me - no developments. Got second sweep today and baby heart trace which will hopefully show all is well. DP wants the baby to arrive before Euro 2008 - hmmmm.

poppy34 · 05/06/2008 08:41

if it does amberc then he can settle baby whilst watching euro 2008 so you can have a rest....

bun2 · 05/06/2008 08:50

Good morning all. Managed a whopping 5.5 of broken sleep last night. How are you this morning?

AH - been wondering about my LO's head too. Can't be much fun jammed in there like that for so long. Hope you get relief soon - at least you have the knowledge that you are going to be induced in 12 days. My consultant is very anti-induction and have an appointment to go back at 41 weeks. Good news is that MW is performing a sweep at 38 weeks (next week) to try to get things moving.

poppy34 - wish I knew why they keep us waiting. I know that by the time I was seen I was close to tears and my BP had gone up dramatically.

Might try to find someone with a trampoline today - otherwise waddling around Waitrose will have to do!

sophiewd · 05/06/2008 08:51

AH - I really feel for you, we have banned IL's coming down as they just sit and do nothing except drink gin, we are going up to see them but not stay with them. Be careful of catpoo.

Poppy - a big black shiny Mitsubishi Outlander, big enough for 2 kids, huge dog and pram. Nice to see you on the book threads.

Bun2 - not to sure what is going on with your pregnancy but very sorry for what seems to be quite a distressing time.

debinaustria · 05/06/2008 08:56

AH - sorry you're still there waiting , I'm due on Saturday and I think I'll be still waiting. Can't believe that your mil didn't help with the poo incident. Can you be more direct with her? i.e. this is what I want to do today, could you do this whilst I do this?

Sophie - happy new car day, found the bottom of the ironing basket this morning, now off to clean small apartment , how many guests do you have at the moment?

Poppy - glad you're feeling better today, enjoy tea with your NCT group

Amberc - fingers crossed and legs uncrossed for your 2nd sweep today

G43 - ouch your leg sounds painful, wonder what you've done. Hope Dr sorts you out.

debinaustria · 05/06/2008 08:58

Raining too much to try the trampoline today, will make do with the exercise ball.

sophiewd · 05/06/2008 08:58

Family of 4 and 2 couples, family and one of the couple leaving today to be replaced by a singleton and another couple, pretty much fully booked until a week on Sunday and then 3 days of before birth.

Hope you are feeling OK.

sophiewd · 05/06/2008 08:59

And I found the bottom of the ironing basket at 9.30 last night in front of apprentice.

emotionalwreck · 05/06/2008 08:59

Aberdeenhiker - its my due date today too! And I had resigned myself to the fact that I would be going 2 weeks overdue... But I had a huge show last night after doing a spot of hula-hooping on Wii Fit!

But there's nothing happening now - few more lightening strikes in the fandango and the usual BHs. Going to see consultant this afternoon for CTG and BP check after my admission last weekend. The only other thing that happened under the cover of darkness was my 2 year old waking up screaming that she needed a pooh (at midnight) but unfortunately for me she'd already done it......

Feeling very excited and scared now

bun2 · 05/06/2008 09:02

Well, pregnancy OK except that I have been sick all the way through and have been in quite some discomfort for 3 weeks now. Reason for seeing consultant yesterday was to get an idea of an induction date as I have a (probably unjustified) fear of going overdue because I am absolutely huge already (bump measures 40 wks - I'm just 37). Apparently I'm carrying alot of fluid which doesn't help either.
Unfortunately, I have been suffering with PND since the birth of my first daughter and the anxiety and stress of this pregnancy has come to a head in the past week or so. Was really after a sympathetic ear yesterday and an "end date" when all I got was a pat on the back.

Keep telling myself that I am really lucky that baby is OK and thriving in there - must try not to be so negative.

emotionalwreck · 05/06/2008 09:13

Bun2 fingers crossed for your sweep - I had one last Monday and think that probably has helped me to produce my show last night (that and the hula-hooping) Fingers crossed for you x

Upsidedowncake · 05/06/2008 09:17

Good morning everyone

It's finally sunny in London!

Debs, pmsl at walkie talkie!

Sophie - good luck with your new car. I love the fact that a 4x4 is the only car that's really right for you. I'd love to live in the country.

Bun - sorry you're not feeling so hot. Can you book stuff up so you are not counting the days all the time? I was 15 days late last time (and was induced) and went pretty bonkers.

Aberdeen - sorry your little one hasn't appeared yet. Bloody midwives. Is 40 + 5 your next appointment?

DQ - did you sleep better last night?

Essie - are you feeling like cleaning today as well?

Emotionalwreck - very exciting that things are kicking off for you. Will keep my fingers crossed. Is it your DD who is November 05? I don't understand how they can poo in the middle of the night but DS always does (in the nappy!)

Amber - good luck with your sweep. Hope it doesn't hurt today.

G43 - hope your hips are feeling better. How are / were afterpains?

No news here today at all - except that newborns can already smell my colostrum - which I wasn't expecting! I was round at a friend's house yesterday morning. Her two-week old started to nuzzle up to me and I let down!!!! It happened at the weekend as well. Has this happened to anyone else?

Upsidedowncake · 05/06/2008 09:18

Bun, did the consultant know about your PND? If so, they should have been more sensitive. [hugs]

Josie57 · 05/06/2008 09:20

Hi All,

Well I'm feeling great today - it's my last day at work (finally) and I slept right through for once (hip hip hooray). I'm sure everything will go down hill from now but for the moment I am enjoying feeling refreshed and stress free.

I swear my littleone was trying to escape last night I have never experienced such strong movements and for so long. I had a full 10-15 minutes of arms and legs pushing kicking, squirming, dancing, jumping and every other movement you can imagine. It was funny but really quite uncomfortable! But sadly nothing happened over night. Mind you I am hoping this baby won't come early (am I the only one that feels like this?) as I would kind of like to spend the next week with my ds doing some nice things, especially as it looks like the weather is going to be a bit better. I'm booked for a sweep in 12 days time (39 +5) so it feels like I have an end in sight.

Anyway, I hope you all have a nice day and now I am off to catch up with some of the posts before one of my many coffee dates that i've had this week.

bitofadramaqueen · 05/06/2008 09:21

Morning all! Pleased to report deb that I slept all the way through till my 5.30am loo visit and was able to get back to sleep after that. Hurrah. Off to sainsbury's shortly then friend visiting for lunch and mw appt this afternoon, so today will pass fairly quickly I'm sure.

Slightly concerned about my left arm/hand. It kept going a bit 'dead' yesterday. It felt weak, pins and needles like, very much like symptoms of pg related carpal tunnel syndrome so will mention to mw later.

I still have no symptoms to speak of, but still 10 days till due date. Someone in my NCT class gave birth this week - she was early and it completely caught her by surprise. Very short labour too. I'd like a bit of that please - but not till next week though as I haven't finished shopping . Off to next later to order these.

bun2 - really sorry that you're feeling down and that the consultant wasn't more helpful. Will you see your mw soon? Perhaps she might be more understanding of what you're going through and be able to help?

Aberdeen - at your MIL. Like Deb suggested can you be more direct with her? My MIL is the type to offer to do stuff all the time, but my own DM needs to be asked (she doesn't like to 'interfere' )

G43 - sorry your hips are in pain and hope the doc sorts you out.

PP - perhaps you could hoodwink your DH... Didn't someone say a few threads back that it would be better if you, ahem, 'ingested' rather than the traditional nookie route? He might think he's getting a treat and be none the wiser . (Sorry if that oversteps the mark - no offence intended!!!!!)

Hope everyone else doing ok today!

emotionalwreck · 05/06/2008 09:21

Upsidedowncake She's been without a nappy day and night for about 3 months so this was a new experience! My DP thought maybe she was going into some sort of sympathetic physicality - trying to squeeze one out for me!

katyjo · 05/06/2008 09:37

Congratulations greenfairy glad you had a good birth experience.

Not had time to check through the whole thread, had a bit of a rough time Mia ended up in Yorkhill as she had a severe eye infection so needed 48hrs of IV antibiotics . We are home now, so everything is ok, but not a great experience. Apparantly she has a problem with the drainage of the sac under her eye, so really hope it doesn't happen again.

good luck to everyone close to birth!

Lorettah · 05/06/2008 09:37

Morning All,

Feeling very jealous of all of you experiencing pre-labour movements / shows I've not really had anything and I'm due on Monday!!! Think once the house is finished (fingers crossed for Saturday / Sunday) I'll start direct action i.e. curries / sex / pineapple (even though hate it) / might even ramp up the drinking of RLT!! Can anyone think of anything else I can do to help push things along?

sophiewd · 05/06/2008 09:38

Sorry to everyone who is experiencing sick children so close to birth.
