bun2 welcome! sorry to hear you're having a tough time. we have many woes between us, but this is a v friendly thread - hope it cheers you up as much as has done me in my darker moments

rolf absolutely pmsl at the denial of furry nipples, which brought on BH and now feeling periody and pre-labour. LO's nickname will be hamster (or was it gerbil) if this starts my labour for real!

allnew welcome and be prepared for a lot of chat. we never shut up!

laura perfect thread name

needahand i know what you mean about signing up for freecycle. actually all you have to put is 'please add me to the group' but the request thing has put off a few of my pals. v impressed you got your crib sorted in 4 mins! My record is about 15 for old futon mattress (was going to use for HB, sob). If you ever fancy anything listed you have to be soooo fast - much easier to put a 'wanted' on ime

dq cafetieres are great for herbal tea - i used one at work for mint tea all the time

ktpie lol re your trews. i went to the shops with my dress on inside out the other day...

keep forgetting to have my raspberry leaf tea. DH is the household tea maker (works from home) but refuses to make me any separately when he puts the kettle on.

didn't go to see satc today - saving it for tuesday when planning to see friend who has an utterly awful cheating b*stard DP and needs cheering up

spent THREE HOURS doing two years worth of filing today (bills, receipts etc), but feel good as it's been hanging over me so long. also rearranged room so moses basket now by my side of the bed.
Have pretty much run out of things to tidy/ organise/ paint/ file. Can I have my baby now please?

Upsidedowncake · 30/05/2008 19:36

Belated welcome to allnew. I have been in yoga pants for weeks as my mat clothes were either all falling down or exacerbating excema.

And welcome to Bun2 - it's lovely that we are still getting new people.

Ernest, so glad that the steroid cream is sorting the excema and you are feeling more human.

I am also a Bravissimo girl - they promoted me from a 38C to a 34F the first time I went. PP was it you saying you didn't want to go all the way into London? There is also one in Ealing, which I find considerably quieter and you just have to go to Earls Court and change.

Debs De-ebs De-eeeebs????

Wonder how Paro is doing

PearTart · 30/05/2008 19:42

Hello Bun2- welcome to the thread. How old is your first DC? My DD1 is 19months. We've been moaning on the previous thread about funny bowel movements. Was loose then suddenly couldn't go at all- due to baby's head resting on colon... (sorry TMI!)

Penguin- congrats on your Christmas Boobs!

Green Fairy- respect for the filing (and having the mental capacity to)

systemsaddict · 30/05/2008 19:46

You have inspired me girls, I have booked a home bra fitting for next Tuesday from bras4mums. They were fabulous last time, and I reckon I deserve a treat after this week! The woman on the phone was a bit when she asked if I was currently pregnant and I said yes, due tomorrow - so made me promise to phone and confirm I am still around Tuesday morning!

But I'm sure I will be, still no signs beyond usual killer BH. My own fault this time, I couldn't resist taking the new P&T out for a spin after picking ds up from nursery, he was very very very pleased to be going out again (and it paid off as he went to sleep before 7pm) and we had a lovely hour or so looking at ducks etc. Am thrilled with P&T, it is just perfect for us, even fits in the tiny space in our kitchen previously occupied by the Zapp, and ds likes sitting high up with the doubles seat on. (Did I mention I was up at 5 putting it together? does this count as a pre-labour burst of energy, or just rampant baby consumerism??)

Upsidedowncake · 30/05/2008 19:47

SA, putting your pram together at all! Let alone at 5 am. I think it may count as nesting ...

spongebrainbigpants · 30/05/2008 20:02

New thread title turned out to be very appropriate for me as just had a bit of a scare at the doctors, ended up being packed off to hospital and was sat in the car all the way there thinking "bugger, I knew I should have packed my hospital bag before now!"

My ankles were really really swollen this afternoon so I nipped to the drs to check my BP, which was elevated, so she packed me off to hospital, with the word 'induction' ringing in my ears . Course, once I got there my BP had gone back to normal! It was good to be checked though, and my LO's heartbeat was 'textbook' so that was reassuring - and he's dropped into my pelvis! Hurrah! Although, I have to say that it hasn't made any difference to my SPD - in fact I think I'm in more pain not less!

Also, the ligaments in my left arm have gone and I have no strength in it at all, and can't lift it above my shoulder. Bit of a pain cos I'm left handed!

Am in no doubt that my baby will not be making an appearance on this thread - and I have some idea of some thread titles for the next one cos 'fraying nerves' will be the least of my worries by then!

Btw, greenfairy, where in Bristol do you live? I grew up in Henbury so know it well.

debinaustria · 30/05/2008 20:27

UDC I heard you shouting me...I'm here, just don't seem to have any time to post then when I find a minute, you lot have chatted for 4 pages and started a new thread!!
No sign of baby unfortunately!!

Today, dh got up with boys again so I didn't get on here for my early morning post, then been arranging sil's evening wedding do today this morning at a restaurant in the village, no idea where the afternoon went, and boys have only just gone to bed at 9.00pm.

Boys made a changing table up for me today from Ikea - the v cheap one, then found the changing mat I had from a different shop has to be squashed onto it, making the sides very high and the space in between very small - we're hoping for a very thin baby!!!

I have no chance of catching up from today, I did skim through looking for posts from Paro or Josey but the only thing that caught my eye were Rolf's furry nipples

Welcome Allnew to the chattiest people on MN.

I promise to post more often over the weekend unless I actually go into labour of course - which I can do now that a parcel has arrived from my Mum for hospital - about 6 magazines and the Shopaholic and baby book!

Mil has tackled the ironing basket today and returned unscathed but a little tired!!

Neenztwinz · 30/05/2008 21:07

Hi all, just posting to get this on my threads I'm on... I am feeling good, coping better with the sleepless nights.

Feeling a bit guilty actually cos DH is upstairs trying to get Theo back to sleep. I woke him up by messing with his blanket cos I thought he was too hot!

Enjoying a very nice big glass of wine too

PearTart · 30/05/2008 21:14

Lovely early night for me. Having pedicure and haircut tomorrow.

bitofadramaqueen · 30/05/2008 21:16

at your glass of wine Neenz!

While I'd be happy to have the odd glass, it seems lately that it really aggravates my heartburn .

SA cant believe you were putting your pram together at 5am!!

I've currently got no energy for anything... Anyone else in the same boat? Although we have finally sorted out new home insurance so that's one thing off the list. Have saved £13 per month and got better cover [smug] emoticon.

goingfor3 · 30/05/2008 21:17

Just checking in!

Baby is in bed but sounds as if he will wake up soon, probably to complain about being in a pink grobag! Midwife discharged us today as all is well, his cord is still attached so she will call on monday to see if it's come off yet. Baby is only 70gs away from his birth weight so doing well.

pyjamarama · 30/05/2008 21:27

Hello All,
Just thought I'd pop on to announce the birth of William James Frederick at 5.38am on thursday 29th. He arrived at exactly 37 weeks, and unfortunately the day before my ECV was booked.
My waters broke at midnight (resulting in an impressive leap from the bed to avoid ruining the mattress), followed by by me (sorry if TMI) sitting on the loo leaking and shouting to DH instructions as to where I had stashed all the things needed to go into hospital bag. Contractions then came thick and fast and we headed off to the hospital. I was then given the option of vaginal or c-section (LO still breech)I couldn't make my mind up (having previously adopted a head in the sand approach to making birth decisions). Long story short... co-codamol did nothing, gas and air made me vomit, and contractions were getting a bit stingey, so I went for a c-section. In the event it proved a good decision as LO had the cord around his neck three times, and so a vaginal delivery may well have been a disaster.
Will is very cute, and also a very tiny 5lb 4oz, but is feeding well. I will attempt at some point tommorrow to put some pictures up.
Fingers crossed for those with early labour symptoms, and hugs to those who are having a rough time.

goingfor3 · 30/05/2008 21:30

Congratulations pyjamarama!!!!! Good to hear William arrived safely!

sophiewd · 30/05/2008 21:31

Huge congratulations pyjama, the first on this thread. How are you feeling after section - take it very easy, let DH run around and get back into walking slowly.

pyjamarama - congratulations! Glad Will is ok - how about you? Looking forward to seeing the pics tomorrow.

I'm exactly 37 weeks on Sunday - I really should finish packing my bag...

lackaDAISYcal · 30/05/2008 21:37

Crashing in from June 07 to say Good Luck to everyone here; it only seems like yesterday that we were all where you are now

Rolf · 30/05/2008 21:39

Congratulations Pyjamarama. Very jealous of your 37 week pregnancy!

pyjamarama · 30/05/2008 21:48

Yep, I would heartily recommend the packing of bags, to avoid conversations like this
DH: which book do you want me to pack?
PJ: (on loo between contractions) I don't think there will be time for reading darling! FFS
Belly quite sore now, much more than I expected so I am hobbling around, and pretty much confined to bed/sofa.

debinaustria · 30/05/2008 21:50

Congratulations pyjama and welcome Will, glad he made a safe arrival, good job about the CS with the cord round his neck 3x.
Looking forward to seeing a photo

bitofadramaqueen · 30/05/2008 21:50

I'm impressed you squeezed out a 'darling' at the end of that!!

Crikey - just realised that you must be home already and you had a CS yesterday? blimey!

Hope you're taking it easy and getting lots of help.

bitofadramaqueen · 30/05/2008 21:51

For the record, I never say crikey or blimey in RL. I think I just dont like to swear online .

debinaustria · 30/05/2008 21:55

DQ - You've ruined your image now, I thought you were such a nice girl!! But now that I know you swear and don't talk like someone in the Famous Five you've gone down in my estimation

systemsaddict · 30/05/2008 21:58

Yay! Congrats pyjamarama, glad all went well - if a bit dramatic! Hope you get lots of rest and recovery time now (well as much as can be expected ).

bitofadramaqueen · 30/05/2008 21:58

Am off downstairs to drink lashings of ginger beer and eat a creme egg and contemplate the consequences of my foul mouth.
