Sponge - I am off to MW this afternoon cos of headache and feeling sick. Just want some reassurance.

alipalli · 10/06/2008 10:08

Josey thinking of you today, hope that you get the MRI results through. If you can't scream on this thread, then what is it here for?

Another quiet day for me by the looks of it... No BHs, occasional fanjo twinges, very kicky baby.

Thanks for the positive induction stories, they've helped more than my MIL's positive story.

Just found something in one of my pregnancy books which made me smile. A study published in the British Journal of Medicine in 2003 reported that overdue babies can be linked to paternal genetics. I now have scientific proof for blaming DH

poppy34 · 10/06/2008 10:18

josey - hoping the MRI scans come through today and things are a little bit easier for you. how is your ds? Also sympathise re the smoking/smacked out mums -when had bad time last year it really made me angry/sad that people can act like that when they've got or are about to have kids.

Deb should have thought to get up and come and have a post on here... had bh on and off all day yesterday ...was very tired/fed up , dh said reckoned baby would be early so couldnt sleep for wishful thinking.

stupid question alert -do you actually always have a show pre labour (I know it can be yonks before) or is it like waters breaking something that doesn't always happen in advance of labour properly starting?

Off to join library in a minute -got docs appt tonight but suspect it will be more of same (ie head not engaged keep hanging on) - taking dh with me so can discuss birth plan after mw debacle last week. just occurred to me that no clue who to ring etc now don't know mw who is delivering.

spongecompletely sympathise with baby arrival blues - have nearly 2 weeks by hospital days and frankly just getting to due date let alone 2 weeks beyond is a pregzilla inducing thought.

bun2 · 10/06/2008 10:19

Good morning all. I had a hideous night too due to the heat. Feeling sick and periody this morning. Sponge I can sympathise with how you are feeling - have been in tears myself and feel like a freak because my hands/feet/everywhere are so big.

My DH is away from Thursday for 4 days, now I'm paranoid that this baby is going to come while he is away. MY DPs are coming to see me but they are fairly rubbish so am feeling quite stressed.

I wonder how EW is?

bun2 · 10/06/2008 10:24

Hi Poppy34. I had a show 14 days before I was induced with DD last time. From what I am told you could have a show when your cervix starts to ripen or you may not have a show until established labour. I wouldn't worry if you have not had one - don't think it means you won't go into spontaneous labour.

spongebrainbigpants · 10/06/2008 10:34

sophie, let me know what she says - I've had headaches and sickness and swollen feet but no protein in urine or high BP recently so I'm really confused (doesn't take much at the moment ).

poppy, sorry to hear you're feeling low too - must have missed your MW debacle, have you fallen out with yours?

3 of the girls from NCT have now had their babies (4 to go, incl me) and all 3 have had c-sections! Shaken me up a little as I really don't want a section and yet they seem suddenly to be the norm round here!

Essie3 · 10/06/2008 10:39

Josey thinking of you, let us know when you can. I have a good feeling for you.

Ok, sort of eventful here (but maybe just wishful thinking really)! Couldn't sleep last night because of fanjo pains, and started to cry because I thought I was in labour. Obviously not! But, (TMI) had a small amount of leakage this morning . Don't know whether it's the beginnings of a show, wee, or, ahem, sweat. It was nothing much really. But also curious about shows.

But now I desperately want the baby to come because I'm DEVELOPING STRETCH MARKS!!!! Now, I know I'm rather fortunate genetically [smug emoticon] and so far I've been clear, but I'm devastated that I appear to have some stripyness around my nipple area. Will wait to see whether it's just something pressing against my nips in the night. At least it's just on the nipple - my porn career was over anyway. But I don't want any more so baby needs to come out now! Mummy isn't happy!

poppy34 · 10/06/2008 10:50

essie sorry to hear your porn career could be over. I may well be in same boat which is obviously a blow. Am too cowardly to check my massive girth for stretch marks but suspect I won't be immune despite slathering myself in oil etc every day from day I got positive result.

sponge not fallen out as such but mw I met and thoguht was going to be there is actually likely to be away so am back to square one. on the one hand I'm not so bothered as sure that will cope if dh there etc but there are a couple of things (mainly to do with history) I want them to go over. Luckily DH is stroppiest git alive when gets going so he is in charge of mw etc supervision while I get on with trying to be focus on having the baby.

I was thinking same thing re c sections the other day - of my 5 close friends 4 of em ended up having c sections on 1st baby. Was slightly alarmed by htat as like you don't want one if can be avoided but having chatted at length with one friend about it, it does sound like the recovery period can be managed (Sure loads of people on here can attest to that).

poppy34 · 10/06/2008 10:51

thanks bun2 -only reason I thought of it was getting loads of bh yesterday and wondered if that would be next. But guess everyone is different.

whinegums · 10/06/2008 10:52

Hi everyone. Josey, it's good to hear from you, I am sending you positive thoughts all the time.

Just back from mw appointment - she's not sure if monster is breech - couldn't be sure which lump is head and which is bum - so I have to go for a scan this afternoon. Wish me luck....

Essie, bad news about stretch marks. I've been lucky so far too - I have some old ones on my tummy from when I was a teenager but no new ones yet, so I have my fingers crossed for you it was just the way you were lying in bed. I inspect every morning in the mirror for any new ones, and often see red marks - from sheets or pjs so far, thank goodness.

Sorry to hear about everyone suffering in the heat/overdue/etc.

aberdeenhiker · 10/06/2008 10:58

josey rant away - you're dealing with so much stress that you deserve to blow off some steam! Hope your DS is feeling a bit better today and that Olivia's results come back soon and are promising. She sounds like she's doing well...

and I'm with you on the soreness. My tail end is not in good shape today at all. My community midwife is coming by and I called to ask if there was a chance I'd pulled my stitches and she said no, no chance, but then why is it so horribly nippy and sore? Anyways, it's hard enough dealing with stuff like this at the best of times, and as you said, you're not getting the distraction/reward of cuddling O right now. I really do hope things get better today!

essie My DH and I are joking that he's going to be having sex with a zebra for the rest of his life, that's how bad my lower belly is. The thought of me making zebra noises had us both giggling (actually the thought of having sex has us both really laughing).

We're now at home and doing well. Fraser is still mucousy and learning to sleep on his own so we're very tired, but adjusting. DS1 is a bit out of sync too - he loves his new brother but wants to play with him all the time and gentle isn't in his vocabulary so he's frustrated we keep saying no. But it's great to be home and I'm so much better rested after having DH with us overnight. I think I actually got a couple hours of sleep last night!

alipalli · 10/06/2008 10:58

Essie - my porn career is also over I'm afraid, although I have avoided them on my stomach which seems the wrong way round as my stomach has stretched alot more than my boobs have. The only positive spin on it is that unless I develop a wish to start sunbathing topless (unlikely) then more people are likely to see my stomach than my boobs.

Amberc · 10/06/2008 11:05

re the massive amount of c sections - I am in the same boat - all of my friends that gave birth this year (3) had one and I am trying to think of it that 1 in 5 births is a section so all my friends have used up the quota so I definitely won't have one!

poppy34 · 10/06/2008 11:10

good point amberc... although if I'm really honest I am lazy and don't want to have to labour and tehn have a c section..how shallow is that?

whinegums good luck with scan - let us know how it goes.

Upsidedowncake · 10/06/2008 11:12

We're running out of space on this thread. Two thread titles, but you might be able to guess my mood!

'It's June and no-one's sleeping very well: those with babies spend all night feeding, those still waiting count the hours'

There once were some due dates in June
But everyone waited for the full moon.
When asked, 'haven't you popped yet?'
We gritted our teeth, 'All set!
Please baby, please baby, come soon.'

dylansmumplusone · 10/06/2008 11:41

UDC i love the poem! is it too long for the title tho?

how about -

A few eggs have hatched, we wish the rest would GET CRACKING!!!

bun2 · 10/06/2008 11:46

I've got a few new stretch marks on my tummy (below belly button) and some on my boobs so I definately think porn career is a non-starter.

Good luck with the scan whinegums.

Does anyone have any experience/opinions on homebirth? Just that I am seriously considering one now after my bad experiences at the hospital recently. I know I am leaving it late but am seeing the MW tomorrow to discuss it.

bun2 · 10/06/2008 11:47

Love the new title ideas!

Amberc · 10/06/2008 11:55

Bear Grylls is on Discovery - I hope he gets his kit off woof woof!

Essie3 · 10/06/2008 11:57

Love the poem. Quite like the idea of the last line as a thread title...but that's just my attitude at the moment!

Amberc · 10/06/2008 12:39

Forgot to ask - re inductions. Can I still labour in the pool with an induction do you think?

debinaustria · 10/06/2008 12:39

Rolf and DLM - still fed up

Back from hospital, no more news, they've said that they will let me go a maximum of 12 days overdue but that takes me past when mil goes home, she's booked to fly home next Wednesday, which will be 40+11. Seriously thinking about changing her flight!!

Baby till looking OK on scan and heart monitor.

Amberc · 10/06/2008 12:45

Well debinaustria I have just read this on askbaby.com 'Sexual arousal and the prostaglandins in seamen are proven to increase the likelihood of you going into labour.' So perhaps you should get yourself down the docks!

bitofadramaqueen · 10/06/2008 12:46

Afternoon all, just catching up as haven't been on since yesterday morning. Josey sorry you had such a crap day yesterday - hope its better today. Paro Fleur is super cute!

Had a terrible nights sleep, I'm really starting to struggle with the heat 24/7 now. It's not even particularly hot here but it feels like a 100C to me!

Family member had a baby over the weekend and thankfully its not been named one of my names (we only have one boy and one girl name on the list so it would have caused some panic if either one was used!).

Off for afternoon tea with NCT lot later.

Cant think of any thread titles - the longest day is coming up soon, we could have a theme around that, it certainly feels like the longest month!

bitofadramaqueen · 10/06/2008 12:58

Have just found out that someone in my NCT group who is due at same time as me has given birth

I haven't had as much as a BH!! Although I did have quite bad period type pains last night and again this morning - does that count?

I keep hearing of people having babies slightly early or bang on time and cant help but thinking that the odds are against me so by my due date it'll be time for someone to go 2 weeks overdue. [sulk]
