hi all! have been lurking and trying to keep up with posts but not having the energy to actually participate much.

ds hasn't been sleeping well, or napping at all, so i have been a walking zombie despite my mum helping by giving me a couple extra hours here and there. between the lack of sleep and my enormous feet and cankles i've been feeling pretty depressed.

last night he slept from 8 to 7.30 this am, no one woke me up when he woke and i slept until 9.30 - and i only woke up twice for a quick wee and went right back to sleep. so i feel like a new person - and i can almost see ankle bone again too!!!

G43 - if you can find one near you see an osteopath! i'm off crutches and can go for walks up to about 10 or 15 mins without too much discomfort. i'm half in love with mine!!

Upsidedowncake · 05/06/2008 09:51

HI Lorettah, I've heard that holding newborns against you can start it off as it stimulates oxytocin.

Dylansmum and DQ, glad you both slept so well

Katyjo - sorry about your little one. That must have been terrifying. Were you able to stay with her?

Peartart, how is your DD this morning?

Emotionalwreck, yikes! LOL your DH and DD's sympathy pushing!

Josie, enjoy your last day at work

bun2 · 05/06/2008 09:53

Thank you all for your kind words. Consultant did know about my PND and it is all there in notes for all to see anyway.

Have just spoken to midwife who was v. sympathetic. We are going for the multiple sweeps option to try to get things going naturally.

Lorettah you could try walking / sitting on exercise ball / driving along a bumpy road. What is the consensus on castor oil?

sophiewd · 05/06/2008 10:08

Thank God for nice MW's Bun - good luck with the sweeps.

Lorettah · 05/06/2008 10:12

Thanks for the tips, my friend is coming round next Tuesday (day after due) and she has a 8 wk old so hopefully that might help me!!!!

Think I'll get on my ball for a bit now!

bun2 · 05/06/2008 10:13

Absolutely, think I would be insane without my midwife - am very lucky on that front.

Oh yes, new born babies are supposed to help trigger things too.

aberdeenhiker · 05/06/2008 10:15

katyjo - hugs to you and Mia! Hope you're all feeling a bit better.

upsidedowncake - I'm trying to schedule in things just like you've suggested, something fun for me in the mornings and then something for DS and I to do after his nursery and afternoon nap. I think it will make time go faster - 12 days isn't really that long except when waiting for a baby!

alipalli · 05/06/2008 10:31

Morning everyone,

My boss just called to see if there was any news. Unlike everyone else on the thread I am not finding these calls irritating. I just find it nice that people are thinking about me, and I am enjoying having someone to chat to in the daytime.

Feeling sorry for DH - he got his work all handed over at the end of last week so he was ready for pat leave, but is finding it q hard this week trailing into work when he wants there to be a baby. It also looks like his aspirations for being on PL at the same time as Roland Garros aren't about to come true.

I just created uproar in DH's office by calling him for something trivial. He was in a meeting, a PA saw his phone ringing, thought it could be me in labour, so rushed the phone into the meeting, disturbed everyone, only for me to say "my boss just rang".

MW appointment this afternoon at 40+5. Have no idea what the protocols are here for induction, so will have to find out. Again, unlike q a few of you on the thread, I would rather wait a bit longer than get sweeps etc as long as LO is doing fine. I think this is because I am in q good shape physically at the moment, so I could probably handle being pg for another week or so. I questioned this though yesterday when I had a horrible hour when LO wasn't moving at all, and then all sorts of scenarios started racing through my head about complications with post term babies. Needless to say normal levels of squirming and kicking have now resumed.

I had a quick look at the due in May thread too. Felt really sorry for the poor women on there waiting for inductions.

Lots of hugs to everyone with poorly DCs; late PG pains; DHs who are saying the wrong thing; MILs who aren't helpful. As Deb always says - we are one day closer to meeting our babies.

PMSL at the PILs who "just drink gin" (can't remember who they belong to) they sound like people after my own heart!

alipalli · 05/06/2008 10:42

Sorry, just realised that was a v long post.

sophiewd · 05/06/2008 11:02

Its arrived.

Its beautiful.

Its about to be covered in dog hair

bitofadramaqueen · 05/06/2008 11:04

Alipalli PMSL at your DH's PA rushing into the meeting!!

My DH will be off for a month when baby comes, so he's organised his workload up until EDD, which means he'll have little to work on if I'm late. Glad you're feeling good and not being irritated by 'any news' questions, you must be much more tolerant than the rest of us !

PregnantPenguin · 05/06/2008 11:11

Dq - You're very cheeky, but that's ok!

My mini drama with DH is over, I apologised for being a mad hormonal lady and he said it was all his fault anyway for getting me pregnant. We've decided that as per Essie and I's agreement, I'm going to go into labour at 2pm this afternoon and we should be home tomorrow morning....it's a nice fantasy to keep a very impatient woman going anyway. Funny thing is, it's like imagining you're going to win the lottery, I'm making almost practical arrangements for it: My hospital bag really is completely ready to go now, just in case. And I'm thinking should I get my eyebrows threaded in town at lunch time for photos!? I'm really going mad...

Dylansmum - Ankle bone, what's that? You lucky thing, that's the equivalent of a 20inch waist for me at this stage, ie: a dream!

Bun2 - Good luck with the sweeps.

It looks like we're going for a simultaneous exchange of contracts/completion on the new house, with three dates in mind: Tomorrow!? Next Friday (13/06) or the following Friday (20/06). How much pressure? Luckily we are still in this house until 05/07 so it's be a slow gradual move, but even so...!

So it's now a race, what happens first, a new house or a new baby? Part of me wants the house first, so that we can have it fully set up and never need to bring LO to this one, then I get up from my chair and can only just walk up the stairs and think I can't go on like this any longer! Oh well, guess it's out of my hands anyway.

bitofadramaqueen · 05/06/2008 11:15

PP being this cheeky takes considerable skill you know

Right, need to go prepare lunch.

pleasechange · 05/06/2008 11:19

Hi all - hope you're having a good morning, and good luck to those of you having due dates/sweeps today!

After my high blood pressure on Tues the MW came round today and it has gone down a bit which is good. But more ketones in my wee and glucose for the first time as well (that might be my addiction to boiled sweets though!). Don't understand the ketones though, I've had them 3 times out of the last 4 appointments, and they all just keep saying I musn't be eating enough. That can't be possible - I'm eating like a horse!

Getting loads of BH but am wary of taking this as a good sign given so many of you are passing due dates with no sign of babies!

PiggyPenguin · 05/06/2008 11:29

No news on Ernest yet then? Here's hoping it all goes well for her.

I had a terrible nights sleep last night, mostly due to cramps in my calves. I kept having to leap out of bed (not so easy at 38+4) to press my foot to the floor as it was agony. Remind me to eat a banana before bed tonight!

emotionalwreck · 05/06/2008 11:35

Allnew I too have had tons of ketones in wee for the last 2 weeks. The consultant told my DP I must be starving myself to which he spluttered and said "if she's starving herself I should be treated for malnutrition....."

Diet so far today - 2 fruit scones and a magnum classic.... Your honour I rest my case

ktpie · 05/06/2008 11:55

Morning everyone, just had a quick look through, going to the hospital this afternoon for a presentation scan. Looking forward to seeing the baby! Wonder if they will check on it's size, the bump seems to be massive to me.

Taking it easy today after all the rushing around yesterday. Been sat in the sun knitting this morning. Can't imagine this afternoon will be as nice, sat around in a hospital waiting room!

pleasechange · 05/06/2008 12:09

emotionalwreck - glad to know I'm not the only one! I now feel justified to go and get something nice from the bakery down the road!

Feeling unsettled today - part of me wants to go out and buy some bits and pieces, but the other part of me can't be bothered!

needahand · 05/06/2008 12:17

Peartard and Katjyo I hope your DDs gets better too.

emotionalwreck how exciting, keep us posted

AH can't believe your MIL. I am so glad mine isn't coming anymore. Now I just need to fend off my parents and all should be well

bun sorry you are feeling a bit down and that your consultant wasn't more sympathetic.

PP good luck with the house.

I had 4 massive BH that made me wince during the apprentice yesterday and ten nothing. But Lo wriggle like a crazed monkey and I think it had now changed position as I can feel the kicks on the other side of my bump. Not sure exactly how is lying though. I hope he is not back to back.

glad the weather is improving. I have finished nesting now and am rather bored, don't know what to do with myself!

I wouldn't mind going shopping but there is no point really. I keep dreaming of post pregnancy clothes. I am obviously deluded!

Parofleurmapu · 05/06/2008 12:19

Hello all! Finally ive made on here!!!!

As you know thanks to Mr Paro (he likes his new name)Fleur was born on Friday 30th May (Canaries Day) at 6.19am she weighed 2 kilos 930 grammes, 6.4 pounds and was 49cm , 19 inches long.

I have posted pics on her blog for you all to see! and on profile too.

She is gorgeous and very tiny!!! And at moment extremly good, hardly cries, I have to wake her for feeds cause she doesnt wake herself. Through the night i sleep from 11pm - 2am
3am- 6am and then 7 til bout 9 ish!!!

Birth story is long and happy but full of events too hence why havent posted til now.

Well... after drs appt on Tues we went to hospital on weds where they checked me in and spent the day doing tests etc preparing me for the induction. On Thursday at 10 am they took me down to the labour ward and started me on saline drip and prepared everything for us. At 11 am monitors, oxitoycin etc was started and labour began!!!! After 9 hours i was stiil only 1cm dilated and cervix completely closed, i hadnt had any pain relief at all only heat pack, birth ball, lucozade and my music cd!!!

But after 10hrs i had an epidural, unfornunately later on i got a fever and the effects wore off!!! SO pain was quite bad at times . On inspection at 3am i was 3 cm dilated so they said that if by 4 am i was still like this i would have to have a CS

At 5 am the whole team crowded round anesthetist, surgeon etc ready to perfom CS, they did an inspection and i was fully dilated!!!!! Adrenaline kicked in and masked the contraction pains, however LO was still very far up and not engaged.

I was told to lay on side and see if she moved, i played music to her down there!!! like i did when she was breeech and at 6am she was ready to go by now i felt ike pushing so after 19 mins of pushing she was born and even though i had had epidural i could feel the contractions cause of temp but was still numb so no pain!!! I had to have quite a large episiotomy and internal stiching too but all healing well

We were both fine she swallowed lots of fluid and i had to be be put on antibiotics for a while due to infection of ammnio fluid as waters were broken for 19 hours.

She latched on and breastfed 45 mins later!!!

I was released on Sunday but she had to be kept in neonatal ward due to hemolytic disease basically in pregnancy and during labour she got some of my antibodies O+ and she is A+ like her dad so she got symptoms a bit like jaundice. She was under phototherapy for a few days and we brought her home on Tues pm.

Phew what a post!!! She is an absolute angel so far and we are enjoying her loads

Congrats to those of you who have had their babies already and i have skimmed the posts but now hope to log on more often!

Thanks for all your wishes xxx

Essie3 · 05/06/2008 12:20

Well, penguin, I'm still here but ready to go at any moment too - bag packed and I even considered putting it in the car! We have a couple of hours, though, until 2pm. (BTW - I was described as 'term' my MW on Tuesday, so our babies won't be premature.)

Mind you, I still need to get that toothbrush on the tile grout so I can't really have a baby until that's done because you know what babies are like with mucky tile grout... It's rather bizarre, because I never have any interest in cleaning and could put up with quite a lot of dirt before!

I just had a hot bath - two women in the village have said that's a way to start labour. I'm not in labour though. Off to Tesco's/Argos to get a baby bath, so maybe I'll manage to drop in one of those shops. Classy!

pleasechange · 05/06/2008 12:31

essie3 - haha about the tile grout. I had a similar obsession a few months ago. I bought one of those grout removers and started on the tiles in the bathroom. DH was furious as he then had to finish the whole room (apparently I was making a mess!) and regrout it. However result is that grout is gleaming white and baby and I are happy!

debinaustria · 05/06/2008 12:48

Paro - it's lovely to hear from you, sounds like you've got a beautiful girl there but I can't see any photos on your profile and can't find the link to your blog! Doesn't sound like the easiest birth but well worth it in the end eh? Enjoy these precious early days with Fleur.

debinaustria · 05/06/2008 12:49

Essie - I will be pleased when you've got that grouting sorted out!!

Upsidedowncake · 05/06/2008 13:06

Paro, lovely to hear from you and congratulations! It sounds quite eventful. How are you feeling now? And how are you (she asks gingerly ) down below? So glad all are home and LOL that Mr Paro likes his new name.
