doesn't sound like you were ever likely to have a petite baby - little paris has been on/just above average all the way along so I'm not so happy about my massive weight gain this pregnancy...

Amberc · 04/06/2008 19:09

Yeah but if you can't stuff yourself when you're preggers when can you?! My latest fave is Marc de Champagne truffles. I am hoping that Breast Feeding is sime miracle that removes truffle residue after giving birth!

poppy34 · 04/06/2008 19:19

v.true amber- I have never known anything like my appetite since pregnant (has come and gone) .

I am hoping breastfeeding also does same for chocolate digestive residue.

Amberc · 04/06/2008 19:23

Talking of food I'm off to granny's for dinner now - will deffo report back if any developments! Have a fab evening x

bitofadramaqueen · 04/06/2008 19:57

I'm hoping that BF has magic properties for removing all trace of creme eggs, maltesers and minstrels, and can mimic the effect of 9 months of hardcore exercise whilst miraculously smoothing things.

Have been doing a lot of online shopping this evening so should step away from the computer now I think...

Rolf · 04/06/2008 20:00

Lorettah - Henry is a great name. Our DD would have been Henry if she'd been a boy. It sounds good with your surname too

Ernest - cripes (and lashings of ginger ale!). Good luck

poppy34 · 04/06/2008 20:01

what you been buying bdq? Am bored waiting for dh to come home so can see temptation beckoning...

thegreenfairy · 04/06/2008 20:12

Evening all

Just a quickie as Storm is due a feed.

Thank you so much for all the lovely comments and congratulations. Ended up crying! I LOVE THIS THREAD! I don't even look at any others any more!

Milk came in today but no baby blues yet - maybe tomorrow...

ernest good luck and thinking of you! Personally feeling ok following section, and you've done this before so you know what to expect. It's sore but bearable and am so glad didn't stay in hosp for three days.

PP of course feel free to use my CS info for your plan - am so glad I was prepared - and that was thanks to paro's site that she posted a while ago. Email me and I'll send you my full plan if you want it Am at rosee dot brown at gmail dot com. Will dig out paro's link too.

sponge glad you got a LO who shares your bday!

amberc re BF and CS, a staffer at the hosp said her view is it's more about the temperament of the baby than the hormones of labour etc. I really wanted to labour first anyway but the skin to skin was wonderful - got a real wave of contentment about a minute after they put her on me and it's still not gone! I stayed skin to skin in recovery as well so we had about four hours at least before they clothed her when we went up to the ward - maybe that helped too. After the initial three BF feeds that night she struggled a bit to learn to BF for about eight hours but then something clicked and now she is a pro.

All the best everyone. Really must go now as she is calling me but may finally catch up later. Good luck to all starting at the mo.

xxxx

sophiewd · 04/06/2008 20:17

Lovely to hear from you GreenFairy and sounds like you are coping really well with everything. Sometimes the blues don't come mine didn't

bitofadramaqueen · 04/06/2008 20:59

Poppy Bras, swaddling blanket, nappy related stuff, thermometer... Am working my way through list of 'little stuff' that I dont have yet. It all mounts up though!!! Have you succumbed?

TGF - sounds like you're doing really well.

emotionalwreck · 04/06/2008 21:06

Wow, what a birth story greenfairy

Is it a bit premature to be excited about the huge show I've just had? No contractions yet - just the usual BH's. My bother was paying a rare visit as he lives 100 miles away, and when he heard me telling my DP what had happened, he went white and said he better be getting on the road! Bless!

poppy34 · 04/06/2008 21:09

yes but not actually bought anything yet...looking at breast pumps and bottles nad trying to stay away from the baby clothes

now being nicely distracted by the apprentice.

looneytune · 04/06/2008 21:13

As always I just can't keep up with this fast moving thread Really hope I get more time to from next week when I'm finally on maternity leave.

BIG CONGRATULATIONS to greenfairy, so pleased all was ok in the end You have a beautiful baby!!

Well I'm sat here with period pains coming and going this evening, think I'll have an early night. I had no kiddies to look after until after school today so I spent the morning/early afternoon moving lots of things around, cleaning, bringing spare highchairs upstairs to store etc. and think I overdid it. Presuming that's why got the back/period pains, a warning sign to slow down maybe. It's so hard though isn't it, head wants to do one thing but body not quite up to it.

I've had moments of panic about leaking waters over the last week but then read that it's normal to have more down there from around 37 weeks which is what I am. Just keep feeling like I've wet myself lol .

This pregnancy seems to have gone on forever yet all of a sudden I'm like 'OMG, I'm due in 19 days, not long now!'. Anyone else been like this recently?

Not sure what I've missed but hope everyone is well and look forward to hearing more announcements

LauraT · 04/06/2008 21:54

ernest good luck, thinking of you and hope all goes well.

there are too many posts to catch up on, but sounds like everyone is busy nesting and buying stuff! My mum has just done a massive pile of ironing for me, how great is she! She's decided that she's not leaving until I'm up to date and everything is ironed and flat and put away... might not be done before she's supposed to leave on Friday looking at the amount of stuff that I've been putting off recently!

Shopping day tomorrow as it's supposed to rain here and [drum roll] I might even pack my hospital bag!

Looney - good to hear from you, not long now until your maternity leave - hurrah!I have been rather damp below too

Emotionalwreck - any other signs?

TGF - sounds like you're doing great with Storm - well done

Drama queen - I love what you wrote, "I'm hoping that BF has magic properties for removing all trace of creme eggs, maltesers and minstrels, and can mimic the effect of 9 months of hardcore exercise whilst miraculously smoothing things." - wouldn't that be fantastic?

few more BH here tonight but nothing else, about to get in the bath with walkie talkie next to me so that I can get dh to get me out again as I feel like I've pulled a muscle in my stomach!!

debinaustria · 04/06/2008 22:04

Laura - enjoying your maternity leave?

poppy34 · 04/06/2008 22:15

deb walkie talkie is great idea ..except dh out. aching and feeling very pregzilla..just posted grumpy reply on another thread and feeling bit now.

LauraT don't pack your bag..that might mean I have to move stuff from drawer to bag.... shopping for anything in particular?

Essie3 · 04/06/2008 22:25

Hello all, a quick one before I go to bed.
Wonderful news about Greenfairy, and Ernest too? In fact, lots of people getting signs!
I'd convinced myself the baby would be coming this week but now feeling all sad because he probably won't really! Getting lower back pains in waves, and fanjo lightening strikes, but otherwise no signs. Can't stand pineapple - makes me want to throw up when not pg, but being pg makes me want to throw up so I'll not be going down that route!

Had a lovely day. Nested furiously all morning - had a desperate need to get the house ready for the baby (so odd!), and sorted out all the rooms! Clutter tidied, things thrown out, surfaces wiped, shower curtain soaked (mildew...). Quilt (I'm a quilter) finished and put away, and considering making a baby quilt for myself. Sad - I make loads of baby quilts, and all of my friends have them, but I never made a baby quilt for me because I was too sick! I did make a single bed quilt for him though.
Tomorrow I will go out, buy a cheap toothbrush, and clean the grouting in the bathroom. Really.

Then my friend came round with her 8 month old boy. He's lovely, Gethin, and he has his first little tooth! Names - I adore names that alliterate with the surname, so Henry Hagger is a winner for me! I do work on complex metrical poetry rather a lot, though, so rhythm and alliteration is important.
Libra I adore Megan Marks - but then I love the name Megan and it's one of my favourites. (Meredith is a boy's name in Welsh - but not in English, I know!)

Penguin is it tomorrow we're aiming for? Or the due date? I could do tomorrow - I've nested and everything is ready now! People across the road have a trampoline - might go on it when they're at work...

I said a short post, and now look - it's massive! Sorry all, and goodnight!

PearTart · 04/06/2008 22:26

Ernest- thinking of you, good luck

Emotionalwreck- that is exciting, anything else happening?

Amber- sounds like things happening soon for you too...

Deb- LOL at walkie-talkie for bath. (I'm the one who got wedged in old narrow bath with DD1 so I completely get it)

Looney- I'm sooo fed up with being PG now- this last week's dragging so badly.

I cried at DH and told him I just feel like a big fat incubator. Really want DD2 to come but want even more for DD1 to get better first.
She still has fever and has been >40 degrees for 2nd day now. She's coping OK with extra cuddles and fewer clothes, poor babe. Don't want Baby2 to come home to this bug, but as soon as DD1's better I'm reaching for the pineapple & curry etc...

bun2 · 04/06/2008 22:29

Good evening ladies. Loads to catch up on - been feeling decidedly under the weather the past couple of days and have not even managed to get onto the computer.

TGF Congratulations, . Well done, and just what a birth story. What a cutie little Storm is.

Ester - Good luck, it must be a shock realising you might deliver early. You will be fine though. Thinking of you.

Had my appointment with the Consultant today and quite fed up. They kept me waiting for 1 hour 40 whilst everyone who came in after me was seen. Then they tried to fob me off with a midwife - eventually got to see the consultant who was totally patronising and not understanding. Seems a CS is out of the question for me so I guess I will have to be patient. Sure I will still be here at 42 weeks (with a July baby). Feeling a bit fed up. Apparently all the period pains, stabbing pains, BH are all normal and the head is completely engaged which makes the discomfort worse. I asked whether this meant that I might deliver early/on time but apparently even with second babies this is not the case - might still have another 4 - 6 weeks of this.

Hope you are all well and keeping cheerful.

PearTart · 04/06/2008 22:29

Oooh Essie- you are nesting aren't you! I wonder if it's soon for you too. I love the idea of the trampoline...

bun2 · 04/06/2008 22:43

Sorry for the rant ladies. I'm sure you do not want to hear it.

So nice to hear how you are all getting on. Best of luck to you all.

Going to bed now. Night night.

debinaustria · 04/06/2008 22:48

The walkie talkie was a good idea until the batteries went..hence me bellowing from the bathroom and probably waking the guests in their apartment!!

Might try the trampoline here tomorrow, if I can actually get on and off without doing serious injury!!

Essie - that's some serious nesting

Poppy - sorry you're feeling fed up, hope your dh is home now

Peartart - fingers crossed that your dd is over the worst and gets better soon

Bun2 - doesn't sound like you got the answers you wanted today - sorry

PregnantPenguin · 04/06/2008 23:57

Hi Essie - That's some serious nesting! Yep, tomorrow's the big day for us! If only, eh? I've actually got a busy day planned for tomorrow, I wonder if I'm sub-conciously trying to tempt fate? I've also made plans for Friday and Saturday....I'd be really happy to cancel them though.

Got even more grumpy than normal this evening with DH. I jokingly told him to bring seven pineapples home this evening after work, but agreed to just one. He didn't bring one and then proceeded to lecture me about the dangers of premature birth (I'm 39 weeks tomorrow and was 2 months premature myself). He doesn't want me to go into labour pre EDD in case it hurts the LO!? I've had a rant that as I can hardly walk up and down stairs at the moment, he may need to think about me as well at the LO.

Poor DH. But TBH I'm too fed up to apologise tonight....bad PP!

bitofadramaqueen · 05/06/2008 00:06

PP I thought that any LO born after 37 weeks wasn't considered premature? I'm sure I read that somewhere recently but cant think where.

Right off to bed, have left it very late in the hope that when my head hits the pillow I might actually sleep...
