Becky- now having written an earful now about why to tell or not to tell...
I'm sure you are fine. Worrying is probably the worst thing you can do to you body now. My friend when PG bled and she was fine so nothing to worry about- really. But think about calling the Midwife just to be sure...
(hugs) we all are with you

Annagt · 22/05/2008 18:26

this is what NHS has to say about it...
www.nhsdirect.nhs.uk/articles/article.aspx?ArticleId=938#

kayzisexpecting · 22/05/2008 18:26

I'd ring the midwife or the local A&E.

Red blood is worse than brown blood but its not always bad news.

NatalieJane who is due in January had bad cramps and lots of red blood and clots and her baby is fine but she had to go to A&E to get scanned.

I'm sure you are fine.

OP posts:
BeckyBendyLegs · 22/05/2008 18:29

I've got a scan booked for tomorrow am. I rang the doctors. I can feel it coming down still. I'm too scared to look. I've never had any bleeding before. You are all so kind I've got no pain at all though. I just have a bad feeling.

kayzisexpecting · 22/05/2008 18:32

Blood with no pain is generally good. I had bleeding about 2/3 weeks ago and had no pain and all is fine. The MW at the EPU said that no pain with blood is fine and its normally nothing to worry about.

At least you know you have a scan booked. I'll keep everything crossed for you!!

OP posts:
BeckyBendyLegs · 22/05/2008 18:50

Thanks, that is reassuring because at the moment at least I have no pain at all. I've just spoken to my mum. I'm going to go rest now, DH orders. At least he got home just as it started. I'll let you know what happens. Perhaps it is nothing and I'll be back tomorrow talking about Cornish Pasties and my grandma's stew

kayzisexpecting · 22/05/2008 18:52

Yeah plenty of rest. Make DH look after you!!

rosmerta · 22/05/2008 18:54

pixsix · 22/05/2008 18:58

Beckyam thinking of you, glad you've gone to rest and hope everything is ok tomorrow.

OH Becky, you poor thing, how very frightening for you! If it's just bleeding with no cramps then it might be OK. Take it easy tonight and don't stress too much (if you can)about what is happening. YOu will give your body the best chance by resting and tomorrow you will have a clearer idea of what is causing it. Many women have bleeding in early pg - I did with DD1, who is now 3. All best wishes to you darling.

Effie, I haven't been advised to have a CVS at all. I am 38 and am stressing about everything being OK and so I have booked a CVS at the fetal medicine centre so as to have a contingency plan. If I get good odds, I won't have it. The prof himself does all the CVSs and they book up way in advance so you need to get in early. I hope I don't need it but feel reassured to know it's there if I do. I don't actually know what I'd do if I had it and it showed a problem. Depends on what the problem is, I suppose. I'll worry about that next week.

Anna, I can't just tell people as I haven't got it all straight in my head yet. 2 of the people there are notorious singletons and very scathing of my 2, so they'd probably combust if they found out about the third. I also want to make sure everything is OK before I tell random people I know (inc some colleagues) that I am pg in case I have a mC. It's also to do with being surrounded by booze and food when I feel so crappy that's bothering me at the moment. I think one of the children mught have to have political chicken pox .

hotmama · 22/05/2008 21:01

Becky - try not to worry too much (if this is at all possible).

This was me last Thursday, I had never had any bleeding with either of my dd's.

I started bleeding at about 10.30 and carried on all afternoon - was bright red and dripping - I was also a bit crampy - so feared the worse.

As you know, I had a scan at the EPU on Tuesday gone and everything is fine - can't see any reason why I bled so told not to worry unnecessarily - which calmed me no-end.

Also said at this stage of pregnancy, if you are miscarrying it is more like labour pains that a bit crampy - and I know I was nowhere near that.

Hopefully, this will keep your chin up.

Take care.

(big hug emoticon)

Forgot to move myself up . It's only been two weeks since date changed.. baby brain!

Verso · 22/05/2008 21:15

becky glad you've gone to rest. I hope everything is ok at your scan tomorrow.

chutney love the idea of political chickenpox . Daft question alert: does anyone else with DCs who've had chickenpox feel sad about the scars? DD had it quite mildly but she's still got two big red marks and I think they're here to stay. My wee baby! Just makes me sad (pg hormones alert!)

Love all the silly chats about food btw .

I'm up for a London meet-up btw, once I've got well over the morning sickness and am safely into the 2nd trimester.

Have to say I fall into the 'can't stand the smell of alcohol' camp - with DD it was like that the whole way through right until I gave up breastfeeding! . Hilarious really, as am usually a bit of a lush, truth be told .

snowwombat · 22/05/2008 22:39

becky thinking of you for tomorrow morning. I don't know if it helps but I am now 12+5 and have had two big bleeds, the first with bright red blood. The midwives say no pain/cramp is a good sign. Glad to hear you are resting up.

InspectorGadget · 22/05/2008 23:13

I've had some bleeding today too.

It was only a small amount, very pink/brown gooey dischargey stuff (sorry thata a bit ming) and one tiny but very red clot. I was a bit sore, more sore than the usual slight niggling I get occaisionally, enough to make me go to the loo to check my knickers, and right enough there was the goo and the clot.

It stopped straight away though, not a smidgen since and that was at 5.30. Am cacking pants though. Am such a pessimist and just waiting for it all to go pear shaped.

I have my booking appointment tomororw morning, should I try to insist on a scan?? Am due dating scan on 9th June.

Hope your scan is all clear Becky.

xx

Verso · 23/05/2008 05:55

inspectorgadget I would insist on a scan today. 9th June is too long to wait! I think they usually look quite sympathetically on you if you've had any bleeding.

I've heard you can bleed around the time your period would be due and it can be fine. I'm not sure if this is the case for anyone going through the bleeding at the moment, but an ex-colleague of mine didn't realise she was pregnant until she was FIVE MONTHS because she thought she kept having periods!!

On a different note - does anyone else keep getting headaches? This is getting really annoying - I've had one for three days in a row now and nothing seems to shift it!

EffiePerine · 23/05/2008 06:44

IG: def ask for a scan. Hope all is well.

Becky: bleeding sounds v worrying, hope you got some rest and the scan goes well today.

Verso: I got horrible headaches last time round (none yet so far). I found they were much worse when I was a bit dehydrated, so had to make sure I was drinking enough, f course that raises other problem

I am SO hungry atm, not sure if it's pg or psychological . I'm eating three good meals a day (I get free lunch at work) plus snacks. Must try and eat healthy snacks rather than sweets and chocolate!

kayzisexpecting · 23/05/2008 07:22

Morning.

Becky I really hope your scan goes well today. Good luck.

Effie I am hungry all the time too. I keep eating pickled onions though. They are so nice!!

BeckyBendyLegs · 23/05/2008 07:23

Thanks everyone for your kind words . I'm still bleeding but still no pain but I had awful nightmares all night and DH had a work crisis so didn't get to bed until 3am!

We're off now in a minute and I'm expecting the worst but will keep you posted.

Inspectorgadget I hope you are ok. It is very frightening, isn't it?

I just feel like I am having a period. I'm half expecting them to tell me I made it all up and I've been having a phantom pregnancy.

cc21 · 23/05/2008 07:55

Rosemerta - good news on scan

beckybendylegs am keeping everything crossed for you and hope all is well with your scan this morning.

DD seems much better today. She went to bed on her own virtually last night at 6.30 (and she had 3hr nap in afternoon ). Didn't wake till 7.15 this mornig, and DH was late for work as he never set his alarm as even on a good day lately she's been waking about 5.30!! Feel full of beans because I've had a full night sleep.

Am also going to hang fire on the hair dye for another few weeks. Am going to a wedding in a couple of weeks si hat should cover roots and by time I take it off everyone else will be too drunk to notice my two tone hair!!!!!!

hattyyellow · 23/05/2008 09:06

Just popping in quickly as off to meeting but wanted to say Becky are you okay? Any news? Will be thinking of you for the scan and really hope it's all fine and you are back discussing food with us pronto. Hugs to you.

EffiePerine · 23/05/2008 09:40

on and back to telling people... I'd be happy to tell close family and friends after a bit (am thinking 20 weeks, any earlier and I'd feel a bit superstitious ) but I really don't want colleagues and random strangers (like every old biddy in my mum's church) finding out that I am pg or that I have miscarried. I'm quite private and would want as few people to know as possible. Probably a character failing on my part .

Plys the sooner you tell people the sooner you get all the annoying comments - already had the GP telling me to 'wind down' bfing. I just smiled and thought 'Sod off'. Then the do you want a girl this time, how will you manage with two, are you planning on going back to work again, surely you need to move soon (WE KNOW) and all the rest of it...

hattyyellow · 23/05/2008 10:10

Effie I know exactly where you're coming from. I am amazed at how people have the courage to tell lots of people before they've had the 12 week scan. I think I am naturally pessimistic and don't want to have to untell lots of people! I've only told a few close friends, all of whom have recently had babies and who I think would be supportive and subtle if something did go wrong.

We've been really lucky as we've had no big social events/wedding things during this first trimester so haven't had to 'fess up.

My current employers are real "live to work" rather than "work to live" so I think they will probably be horrified that I could have done something as inconveient for them as to get pregnant!

And like others, most people we know have no or at the most two children, so for us to have three will get a lot of headshaking and raised eyebrows - which I don't really want to see so the longer we can keep it secret the better.

I am looking forward to telling lots of the local mums, all of whom keep saying they haven't seen me for ages and we should all go for a big boozy night at our local!

I am waiting until the last few weeks pass of this trimester and then I will come clean once I can see all is okay at the scan.

kayzisexpecting · 23/05/2008 10:30

I would hate to wait til 12 weeks. If the worst was to happen I don't want to hide it from my family and friends. I wouldn't hide a 'normal' death of a family member so why hide a MC?

Plus I do a lot of heavy lifting at work and I have to tell them as soon as I know I am pregnant.
