Evening all, thought I'd quickly pop in whilst watching the Murray match!

artichokes happy birthday, sounds like you had a lovely time. Lol at putting dd in the bathroom though!

verso I know what you mean about trying to get appts, its really hard at my gps as well. Might be worth ringing the antenatal unit just to put both your minds at rest.

turnip sorry you had such an awful weekend. Hope you feel better now.

artichokes · 30/06/2008 20:52

I honestly thought everyone put their baby's cot in the bathroom when staying in hotels! How else can you come in and out of your room and read/watch TV/chat/get "romantic" without waking the baby?????

rosmerta · 30/06/2008 20:56

We haven't stayed in a hotel since ds was born, always gone for apts with a second room to pop him in! Will bear it in mind though if we ever do.

kayzisexpecting · 30/06/2008 21:00

I'm hoping there is a spare room when we go away. There is 9 of us going so DS might be in our room. I won't mind but I think it will be strange.

OP posts:
Nolda · 01/07/2008 08:58

My DD, who will be 2 on Saturday, only moved into her own room last month (DIY nightmare - don't ask)so we are still finding it strange having a bedroom to ourselves!

A question for those with children already, as part of the amnio on Thursday they took some measurements of my baby and all of them were around the average for its age apart from its measurement around its abdomen which was so large it went off the chart. The registrar said that the baby was very fat and that she saw that my DD had been on the large side when she was born. My question is (i) has anyone else's baby been measured round its abdomen at a scan (my DD wasn't) and (ii) if so, and the measurement was on the large side, was the baby big when it was born? Although I am concerned that the baby will be bigger than DD when it is born, I am more worried that this measurement is a sign of something being wrong with the baby and they just didn't want to say anything at the time but wait until the results of the amnio came in (pregnancy paranoia alert!!).

If anyone is still reading, thanks for bearing with me.

jenduck · 01/07/2008 10:01

Hi all, have been a bit slack in posting as things have been busy in the duck pond lately! Since Friday, I am proud auntie to a brand new niece! She is my third niece (also have 2 nephews) and she is gorgeous! My sister had quite a good labour (only 3.5 hours after induction), but then lost a lot of blood at the end. Thankfully she is now fine. My biggest niece is also enjoying being a big sister, which is a relief as we weren?t sure how she?d take it. The new arrival has a lovely name, too, actually it was one of our top 3 choices, so we?ll have to have a rethink!

We have also been redecorating ready for the Duckling?s arrival. We have not just the nursery to do, but also adjustments to other rooms, not to mention those other pesky bits that look shabby once you have redecorated elsewhere ? or is that just us?!

I have also joined up to my local Freecycle, great for disposing of any excess items found during said decorating process, and has also come up trumps with some maternity clothes for me!

Welcome to Pingurocks, you?ll soon be addicted to this if you?re not already!

Verso, hope everything?s OK, do go & get checked out to set your mind at rest. Don?t worry if you get told of for wasting their time, stress cannot be good for you & baby & chances are they won?t say anything anyway.

Artichokes sounds like you had a great birthday. Don?t they say life begins at 30?!

Turniphead sorry your weekend did not go as planned. Hope you are feeling better now.

Rosmerta did you enjoy the Murray match? I thought it was fab, keeping fingers crossed for a British winner! [eternal optimist emoticon]

Nolda, don?t know the answer to your question as this is DC1, sorry, but hope things go OK for you.

After this epic essay, I am signing off! Hope you all enjoy the glorious sunshine we are still getting!

artichokes · 01/07/2008 10:04

Hi Nolda

When I was pregnant with DD I had a private 12 week scan and they measured various things including the abdomen. I remember that most measurements were on the 50th centile but her legs were about the 30th centile and her abdomen was 95th centile. The doctor joked that she was short and fat but seemed unconcerned. When DD was born she weighed 9lbs 4oz which is 99th centile for girls.

Now she is nearly two and is very tall for her age and average build.

I am sure its nothing to worry about.

JollyBear · 01/07/2008 12:03

Hello all,

turnip what a rubbish weekend, hope you are feeling much better now.

artichokes Happy birthday! That hotel sounds just lovely

Verso I'd ring your midwife and explain how worried you are and that a quick check would just set your mind at rest .

jenduck Congrats on becoming an Auntie again . I'm glad other people are thinking about making room for the new addition. We haven't got round to redecorating yet! Our spare room is currently a study (I work from home) and I have no idea where we are going to put all the books and files not to mention the desk!

Hatty lovely to hear from you. Glad to hear you had a relaxing break.

Very good sales on at the moment ladies! I got some bargain tops in H&M and Gap. Some of them are a bit big but I'll grow into them

rowergirl · 01/07/2008 12:33

Hello

I'm a newbie to these pages. Just crept into the 2nd trimester and keeping fingers crossed that things will be ok (14 weeks, but people keep telling me that it is still "early days" - due 27th Dec....ds will be 2 on 22nd Dec - oops). Can I join in the fun please ?!

JollyBear · 01/07/2008 13:49

Hello rowergirl, pull up a chair!

There is a list somewhere with all the due dates and other stats on... I'll try and find the latest one.

I'm due the day before you!

Indith · 01/07/2008 14:03

Hello all, hope you are all doing well

Cot in the bathroom in hotels huh? Genius! (though I go to the loo a couple of times a night at the moment!)

Have been at my mum's doing wedding prep and dress making (her not me, I can't go within 5ft of a sewing machine without it breaking). Dress made now so while there is some extra bump space this child is not allowed to grow too much!

I graduated last week, I am now an officially educated BA. I know stuff I do

Seem to have pulled something in my bum. Not sure if I just pulled something or if the stretching of ligaments etc is making it worse. Probably not helping.

Why do I get so terribly windy when pg? Especially after roast dinners. The neighbours must have thought it was cannon fire the other day.

I should be packing up the loft, cousin and family staying this weekend and sleeping up here. Then we go on holiday and move house the day after

I want a McDonalds. I hate McDonalds. Been wanting one for a few weeks, to the extent that I started salivating just passing one on the motorway the other day. Have tried having chips etc but they don't hit the spot. I am at the point where I fear I would actually cave and buy something from the evil profit making crap food that tastes of nothing and I normally avoid on principal place if we actually had one.

On with the packing

But bloody hell I want a McDonalds!

babblington · 01/07/2008 15:09

Hello all - not that anyone will remember me, but I finally passed my driving test today!! 3rd time lucky!!

JamInMyWellies · 01/07/2008 15:17

Indith, PMSL bless you. I had this with DS ended up being excrutiating and ended up at physion it is something to do with the muscles and all that relaxin hormone.

Welcome rowergirl.

Verso how did you get on at the EPU?

Hows everyone feeling today tis fookin boiling here am trying to do a spot of sunbathing housework has gone to pot, dinner will be the chip shop, DS is wandering around feral but am getting a lovely colour on my bump.

Oh now has anyone managed to get some decent summer maternity wear specifically floaty type skirts everything on the next website is sold out all other website skirts appear to be officey.

I'm new to this - are there any more up to date threads than this for Dec 08? Am 17 weeks now, and looking like a bit of a fatty - but not really looking pregnant yet!!

Beans33 · 01/07/2008 16:07

Oh and forgot to say, am due on 7th December, which is very exciting. Am not yet nervous about the birth etc, but can feel the fear lurking ready to come out! Anyone else a nervous first time Mum?

Flumpybumpy · 01/07/2008 19:28

INDITH I was just getting over my Dime bar craving but now I fear a McDonalds craving is looming. I actually work opposite a McDonalds but will do my best to resist, I don't want to give birth to a chicken nuggett!!!!

babblington · 01/07/2008 19:52

Anyone suffering with Sciatica? I've got it really badly - I had it with dd1, but not dd2, so was hoping to avoid it altogether...Any tips on how to resolve it would be much appreciated!!
Indith - perhaps the pain in your bum is sciatica also?

Jam in my wellies - I got a pretty black and white floral sparkly (but daytime) one in the blooming marvellous sale...perhaps sold out now?

Indith · 01/07/2008 20:19

Darn it Jam you are not supposed to confirm that relaxing hormones make it worse! Sciatica hmm.....meh I'll ask the MW if it hasn't gone by the time I see her.

Turnip I hope it is the degree you were applauding there and not the wind!

Welcome beans

There is only one shop here that does maternity and I can never be arsed to go into Newcastle but I did find a lovely summer dress in New Look today, not maternity but the fabric is all crinkled so it stretches nicely over the right bits.

rowergirl · 01/07/2008 20:42

Verso · 01/07/2008 21:09

Thanks for all the well wishes. I now have a proper appointment for EPAU tomorrow morning at 10am and they were LOVELY. I think it really depends which receptionist you get, to be honest! Much relieved - and I fully expect everything to be A-OK.

Welcome to the new joiners! (You must forgive me being completely self-obsessed at the mo. Once I've got through tomorrow I will try harder! Promise! )
