Ohh 3rd thread!

How exciting!

cc21 · 21/05/2008 20:29

I have missed wine at every stage of this pregnancy so far! With DD never missed it, this time I miss an ice cold glass of wine to relax with when DD in bed.

December is soooo far away but will be worth the wait I'm sure.

kayzisexpecting · 21/05/2008 20:34

I work on a Deli in a supermarket and there is a huge stack of packs of 18 alcopops and I was going to buy some before I got pregnant but I didn't. But some days when I am at work they really annoy me and I cant go to another part of a shop to get away.

I'm glad England never made the Euro Championships this summer, not sure I could have handled all those beed fueled BBQ's.

cc21 · 21/05/2008 20:36

I meant beer!!!!!

kayzisexpecting · 21/05/2008 20:39

I'm eating wine gums. Next best thing

I was banking on a mango sorbet lolly thing in the freezer this evening. DH has just informes he's had the last one...ggrrrrr

InspectorGadget · 21/05/2008 20:43

Am turning into a right fatty arbuckle. Not that I was svelte in the first place, but I don't think eating 6 packets of cheesy wotsits after tea is doing me any good.

msdynamo · 21/05/2008 21:13

I may as well add my size in here. I was a size 12 before conception, now am a 14, and my stomach, for some reason, is really sticking out already! I've had to buy smock tops and undo my jeans.

It's all very exciting

According to my baby book we're only supposed to gain 4lbs in the first trimester. I've done that already, so I have to slow down for the next 3 weeks. Bearing that in mind I had a frappucino, carrot cake, canneloni, and beef in black bean sauce today(Not all at the same time!) somehow just the thought of dieting makes me get all hungry and reach for the calories!

msdynamo · 21/05/2008 21:15

Also, quick question re norks. Are they supposed to grow wildly in the first trimester?

Is it a sign that they wont become giant pendulums if they're only growing moderately now?

I speak as someone who enjoys the perks of small breasts.

snowwombat · 21/05/2008 21:18

ooh, so glad we are on food again!(one hand typing whilst demolishing an icecream!) cc21 would you like one? plenty in the freezer.
I had a very big sip of champagne on the weekend- good quality stuff to celebrate DP and I getting engaged! It tasted fantastic and fortunately no after effects.I miss G+Ts too.

kayzisexpecting · 21/05/2008 21:18

Getting engaged??????

Congratulations!!!!!!!

You lot make me laugh

mibbes · 21/05/2008 21:56

Congratulations snowwombat brilliant news !
for the record am size 12 and still fitting into clothes fine - hopefully get a few more weeks before I need bigger size or undonw buttons
Has anyone tried non-alcoholic wine ? My MIL brought some round for me the other night and I was pleasantly surprised - having said that I had very low expecttaions ! It is not a patch on the real thing but better than cordial

IceCube · 21/05/2008 22:52

Congrats Snowwombat, just in time for a nice summer wedding?

I tried the non alchi wine but I found I got alot of the down sides of wine without the benefits I got that dry taste in my mouth and flushed cheeks etc, don't know why. I prefer some of the sloer type fizzy drinks as an altrnative if we have people over.

kayzisexpecting · 22/05/2008 07:12

Morning,

I haven't tried the non alchi wine but I might try some. I get this really nice sparkling raspberry drink and its gorgeous.

EffiePerine · 22/05/2008 07:20

Congratulations Snowwombat

Size: am a 10-12 and according to the GP haven't put on much so far (a pound or so maybe). Norks still 30G (about an F cup pre 1st pg) but still bfing which complicates things. I am def getting a bit of a podge (not sure it's bumoy enough for a bump) but managing in slightly roomier clothes so far.

DS slept in till past 7am this morning - hurrah! Better get my arse moving and get to work though...

BeckyBendyLegs · 22/05/2008 08:34

Norks? I've never heard them called that before! At first I wondered what your norks were msdynamo!

Congrats Snowwombat that's lovely Glad I'm not the only one who has partaken in a bit of bubbly. I was told by a friend of mine that if you do have a drink while pregnant that champagne is apparently the best thing to drink!

I had a really bad hair day yesterday (caused by DS1 having a huge tantrum in the Co-op over a Thomas the TE magazine) and I so really wanted a glass of wine to unwind in the evening. It was the idea of it that appealed more than the real thing.

I miss G&Ts as well, especially in the sunshine, with lots of ice and a slice of lemon. A glass of milkshake just doesn't cut it somehow.

rosmerta · 22/05/2008 08:51

morning all, dh had to work last night so couldn't get on the laptop!

congratulations snowwombat

I'm missing wine too, more so this time around than with ds. Also pimms now that the weather is nice! I've been treating myself with Mint Magnums instead

Kayz, I'd say go for the moses basket. We found it really useful to have one downstairs rather than always taking him upstairs for a nap.

Have my scan this afternoon!

pixsix · 22/05/2008 09:02

snowwombat congratulations on your engagement!

rosmerta good luck for your scan later.

I hope everyone is ok today.

cc21 · 22/05/2008 09:13

Congrats snowwombat fantastic news!!

Am exhausted today DD was being sick all night and poor little mite not in mood for food at all. Shes rather tentatively picking at some dry cornflakes! But has drunk at lot this morn and kept it down - hopefully a passing bug.

Does/would anyone dye their hair when pregnant? Went blond (full colour) just before I found out and now I have a mjor root issue. Don't know what to do. My mum is a midwife and she said ask my hairdresser who seems to say ask the midwife. So thought I'd ask fellow MNers as they are a fountain of knowledge

rosmerta · 22/05/2008 09:28

cc21, poor dd, hope she feels better today. I don't really know about hair dyeing but I thought it wasn't supposed to be done in pregnancy because of the chemicals. I'm probably wrong though & someone will be on to correct me soon

cc21 · 22/05/2008 09:30

Have just been searching old mn threads & googling - some say do some say don't. Definately seems to be a consensus that its best to wait till the 2nd trimester.....

EffiePerine · 22/05/2008 10:33

No idea about colouring hair in pg, but I have heard that you can get different results so def do a strand test first

I haven't drunk anything bar one glass of fizz so far - I did drink one or 2 units a week towards the end of my first pg, but now they've changed the guidance I decided to stop altogether. Actually find it easier than trying to calculate how much 1 unit is in home measures (NOT MUCH).

Did someone mention yonks back a London meet-up? What about when our first scans are out of the way - I must be one of the last and am having mine mid-June. Late June anyone?
