Hi!
Just popping in to try to keep up . I had a scan on Monday at the EPU as I had a small bleed over the w/e. I was relieved to see one LO in there & all seems ok and right for dates. Only 2 weeks to wait now until my 12 week scan.

I'm a 'larger' lady . I won't reveal what but most of you are miniscule in comparison . My one saving grace is that as the baby grows I shrink. I've already lost about 1/2 a stone.
Two weeks after I had the dt's I was 3 stone lighter and with dd4 I was the same weight after as I was when I conceived. I'm determined to keep the weight off this time!

I haven't told my other children yet. It is getting awkward though as we have horses and my eldest competes a little bit. I'm getting quite tired when we have a long day at a show.

Wishing you all well, catch you later.

Hello Verso Thats great!!

Turniphead I have got to get back into my size 10 clothes. I hate being a size 16 so I am going to be very strict.

Only a little post as I am exhausted today and have a tummy ache.

DS1 has gone to his friends to play this afternoon (his friend lives on a farm and I just wanted to stay and play with all the animals) and DS2 is asleep. A rare moment alone beckons...but so does work. I would just about do anything for a nap right now zzzzz. Instead of Rent-A-Granny I need Rent-Another-Me!

I haven't told the DSs yet either about the impending extra sibling although apparently DS1 told his preschool teacher that 'there might be someone new coming to our house to stay soon' whatever that means! I'm goinig to wait until after the 12 week scan. I wonder how they will feel as they are such a nice little twosome at the moment. I think DS2 will find it hard as he is such a cuddly little thing and he likes being the 'baby' of the family.

rosmerta · 21/05/2008 13:46

Hi everyone, so much to catch up on!

Verso that's great news!

flumpy great news for you too

Sorry, I know I've missed everyone else off my catchup but I can't remember what everyone's said

Re size I must be one of the biggest on here? Size 18 & 36G. My weight always creeps up when I'm not being careful enough & I'm determined to lose it all after the baby's born. Before my wedding I managed to lose 2 stone & dropped 2 dress sizes. I'd love to get back to that!

Am counting down as well, scan tomorrow!

waves

Hello everyone. Am not much cop at keeping up with this thread.....its soooo busy!

I still feel a little weirded out by everything, very few people know about my pregnancy IRL and it feels strange to talk about it. Am also a bit of a pessimist and am convinced that something has gone/will go wrong. Reading everyones highs (and lows) on this thread kinda brings all that home too.

Still I have my first midwives appointment on Friday morning which is very exciting. Teh community midwives do the booking at home here which is fab. Does anyone else get their booking appoint at home?

Also have my 12 week scan on June 9th when I will be 12 weeks exactly, which is uber uber exciting :O.

I reckon once I've had the all clear as it were I'll be on here all the time, hehe.

Take care everyone xxx

kayzisexpecting · 21/05/2008 17:37

I need some advice.

There is a really nice moses basket on the adverts bored in the shop for £20. Its white so will suit a boy or girl. I don't know if I should buy it or not considering they are fairly expense brand new.

But I know when I find out what I am having I'll want all pink/blue stuff. I suppose I could get the sewing machine out and make some new covers.

What would you do?

OP posts:
southernbelle77 · 21/05/2008 17:49

Last time with dd, I only used the moses basket for a couple of weeks. For us, it was the biggest waste of money that we spent! DD hated it and was much happier in her cot! Still have it (well, as long as sil hasn't lost/broken it!) so will try it again but not worrying too much about it!

I'd say go for it. Much better to not spend a fortune when they might not be in it for long!

kayzisexpecting · 21/05/2008 17:55

Yeah I think I will ring them tomorrow. We just want t=something for the baby to sleep in downstairs.

Our biggest waste of money was the nappy wrapper.

OP posts:
BeckyBendyLegs · 21/05/2008 18:09

I'd say go for it too. I used the moses basket for DS1 and DS2 until they were 3 months and although that isn't long they both loved sleeping in their basket until they got too big for it.

Our biggest waste of money was a bottle warmer. It's still in the box.

kayzisexpecting · 21/05/2008 18:10

Oh yeah our bottle warmer is too.

We used hot water in a jug too. Much easier.

OP posts:
Verso · 21/05/2008 18:36

Useless item for us was drop-side cotbed. I insisted on having a drop-side as a (much shorter) friend of mine said it saved her back with her DDs. Anyway - DD was the world's lightest sleeper, so even if we had needed to use it (which we didn't as DH is 6 foot and I'm 5'8") we couldn't have because the movement/noise would have woken her up! DOH!

Cotbed itself v good idea though. She's still in it (as a bed) three years on .

Agree re moses basket too. With DD being such a whopper (height as well as weight) she was wedged into it for about a week before practically bursting out the seams .

southernbelle77 · 21/05/2008 18:53

Oh yes, the nasty nappy wrapper!! God, did that smell

Drop sided cot was a waste too! I'm on the short side and I still never used it!

Trying to think of other waste of money items now!!

kayzisexpecting · 21/05/2008 19:04

We had a drop side cot and we never used it.

The nappy wrapper IMO was not better than a normal bin. It said on the box that it stops the smell. Did it bugger!!

OP posts:
cc21 · 21/05/2008 19:26

Hello ladies,

Have just spent ages catching up with whats been happening. Am pleased with the size discussion thats been had, as I seem to have ballooned with this pregnancy. 12 weeks and have already had to dust down th ematernity wear!!!

My bangers (love that word from Gok Wan )are massive, already the size they were when my DD1 was born, about a 36F. I dread to thing what they will be like when my milk comes in. I remember last time not being able to see my toes

IceCube · 21/05/2008 19:32

I like the look of having a drop side cot pushed up against the bed so I can pick baby up without getting out of bed, does that sound like it would work?

Verso · 21/05/2008 19:43

It might work IceCube - but you might end up with a gap (or at least that's what the manufacturers of these special bedside cots would have us believe...)

cc21 I'm in the odd pair of maternity trousers too (heaven!) - and I'm a Gok fan as well - bless him. Lol @ not being able to see toes over mahoosive bangers .

(I disagree re nappy wrapper btw (at risk of being shot down in flames). Ours was really handy!)

Oh - another waste of cash was Medela mini breastpump. It worked - but THE NOISE THE NOISE THE NOISE!! (and you have to use Medela bottles then transfer the milk to the ones you want to feed with - which multiplied the whole palaver of expressing milk and sterilising bottles etc...) Several months on I discovered I could use an Avent hand pump perfectly adequately - what a relief (in more ways than one just remembered what it feels like when you have plenty of milk and your baby decides to sleep through a feed for once!)

kayzisexpecting · 21/05/2008 19:46

I need a slap. I'm craving cider, the is a can in the fridge and everytime I go in there for something else I stare at it.

OP posts:
cc21 · 21/05/2008 19:47

We had nappy wrapper, I also thought it was a bit pants, but currently works as a perfectly good bin in DD's room!!!

BeckyBendyLegs · 21/05/2008 20:15

Last time I was preggers I had a craving for shandy and DH duly went out and bought me some lemonade and a can of larger and I took one sip and said 'yuck, yuck, yuck'.

I had a sip of champagne last week (bad pregnant woman!) when we bought a house. It tasted ok but made me feel a bit sick afterwards!

kayzisexpecting · 21/05/2008 20:26

See I bet that would happen if I had some cider. It would probably be horrible.
