kayzisexpecting · 27/06/2008 12:56

I do hope Verso is ok.
I know when I had my bleeding at 8 weeks the hospital and EPU weren't nice, or helpful at all. They had a 'there is nothing we can do if you mc so there is no point in you being here' attitude. It was only by spending 7 hours at A&E that I got refered for a scann

OP posts:
Verso · 27/06/2008 20:43

Sorry to worry everyone! (But thank you for worrying - it's really sweet of you.) Things are fine with me - as far as I know. I've just been trying to take it a bit easier and have been keeping an eye on the cramps. They have eased off a lot so I reckon it probably was just growing pains, and I think I can still feel movements so I think everything's ok.

I'm still a bit worried that the hospital were so casual (and useless) about it, especially given my history - but I couldn't face going back to demand a scan/doppler listen. If I feel rubbish at all next week though I will go back.

So sorry to worry everyone!

chinchi · 27/06/2008 20:49

Sending positive healthy vibes to you Verso!

Ive been really slack in posting on this thready lately . Going to Turkey to visit the in-laws in 10 days, so have been busy preparing for that! I cant tell you excited I am!

I have a consultant appointment on Tuesday at the hospital. DS was born at 29 weeks, and with me going away for 8 weeks, the midwife was keen to get me seen before I went away.

Hope it goes smoothly. Will have my 20 week scan in Turkey, and they give you as many scan pics as you want over there! Im excited for that alone!

Hope you all have a great weekend

majormoo · 28/06/2008 11:53

monkeydops my DD and DS share a room. We moved DS in when he was about 8 months (he was in our room til then). It has generally been fine although last week they did start mucking about at night. We are going to try to move in the Spring. However this depends on how bad the housing market gets. If things look really bad we will wait another year or so which means we will have three kids in one room!!

Turniphead your break away sounds lovely. I am jealous, although it is hard being the sober one. I always seem to be pregnant during weddings/hen dos.

Have a great time in Turkey Chinchi. Guess they will keep a very close eye on you once you get near 29 weeks

majormoo · 28/06/2008 11:54

by the way monkeydops we did not change DDs room at all to move DS in. Just dumped his cot in there!

AllieBongo · 28/06/2008 14:19

Hello all. I've checked all my appointments and they are correct. Perhaps with 3rd pregancies they leave you even longer. I haven't heard a heartbeat or anything yet, and i have to wait until 28 weeks
Glad you're ok Verso

theyoungvisiter · 29/06/2008 19:45

Hi everyone, sorry I have been rubbish about posting... sorry to hear about your crap treatment Verso. Don't you find it so much depends who you get on the day?

Is anyone else suffering with this grim snotty virus doing the rounds? DS and I have both had it and so no sleep in the Visiter household, gahhhh...

kayzisexpecting · 30/06/2008 07:04

Morning,

Verso I'm glad you are feeling better. If the cramps happen when you stand up quickly you can get quite sharp pains. I get them alot as I always stand up too fast.

I have been in bed nearly all weekend. I have still been getting really bad headaches and nothing seems to shift them. GP is bloody useless and said there is nothing I can do to get rid of them.

OP posts:
Verso · 30/06/2008 07:38

They were like AF cramps, kayz - constant ache but peaking in waves. I also get the sharp ones when standing up but they don't worry me as I remember them from DD. Still bit anxious to know baby is ok so may have to brave EPAU tomorrow

kayzisexpecting · 30/06/2008 07:44

I think it's a good idea to go to the EPAU or to try and make an appointment with your MW for tomorrow. At least then your mind will be put at ease.

OP posts:
EffiePerine · 30/06/2008 09:11

Verso: hope you get to the EPU OK. Sounds like it could well be normal and fine, but good plan to put your mind at rest.

Kayz: mayeb try some latrnative treatments for relaxation, which might also help with the headaches? Like reflexology or something? Also, I did Alexander Technique classes through my last pg which really helped with posture and stress (am trying to remember the principles this time round as can't really afford the classes). Or perhaps osteopathy - I'm getting more aches and pains generally which I think is due to things stretching and shifting round.

Hope everyone has a good week . I am sitting at work with a lovely blacj eye thanks to DS headbutting me at the weekend . Good thing I don't see the mw for a week or so...

rosmerta · 30/06/2008 09:16

hi all, been at my parents this weekend. Nice to have a break as ds asks for grandad to come & play!

verso hope everything's ok, might be worth going to the EPAU

chinchi have a great time in Turkey

turnip have a great time in Spain! Thanks for the tip re spray bottle, ds has a watering can & I do have to fill it every 2 mins!

kayz hope the headaches get better soon

I've definitely been feeling little kicks. When they start, I gently press my stomach & the baby kicks more!

JamInMyWellies · 30/06/2008 09:17

Oh verso my love get yourself along to the EPU, the sharp pains when you stand up are normal its to do with all the streching.

Kayz I too have had a hideous headache and nothing shifts it. I asked the MW aqnd she said its hormones take paracetamol. I have found that not waiting too long between things to eat helps and drink masses and try put your head down for a snooze when you can. Hard I know when there are other DC around.

Another gorge day here today, think we need a rainy day so I can get my housework done.

Been up all night with DS he never wakes at night no idea whats wrong with him he is currently running round the kitchen after eating a massive breakfast while I feel like a 70yr old.

rosmerta · 30/06/2008 09:23

jam I've been having the same problem with ds, either waking up through the night or awake at around 5am!

hattyyellow · 30/06/2008 09:51

Morning all, sorry not to have been on for ages - we've had a lovely holiday away for 10 days. Got thoroughly spoilt at my mums and then we took DD's to stay with friends on the coast and had glorious sunshine and bbq's.

Feeling very refreshed.

Verso hope you are okay. Hope everyone enjoys their holidays. We're hoping to go abroad in September if we can find somewhere cheap - our ability to go away out of school holidays is rapdily decreasing as DD's start school next year.

Has anyone else broken out in spots? I have 4 huuuuuugeeee spots on my face and a meeting on Wednesday. I can't even hide them with make up! Any tips? Will something like Clearasil damage the babe does anyone know?

Waving to all - hope you're all feeling okay. I'm still a bit nauseous and headachey so hoping this doesn't last for the next 6 months!

Hi Hatty your holiday sounds lovely , can't help with the spots I'm afraid, hopefully one of the other ladies will have some tips.
Effie at black eye - yikes, is this what I have to look forward to !?
Verso all the best with EPU, hope they put your mind at ease and you see your wee bean jumping about I haven't had sharp pains when standing up but I do get shooting pains when I sneeze - is that normal ?
rosmerta nice one getting grandad to do his bit while you rest !
Turnip so sorry your weekend was such a disaster - poor you
kayz I relented yesterday after a thumping headache all day I eventually took 1 paracetomal and it worked a treat - I'd rather take nothing but it was making me miserable and cranky.
Well my trip to Belfast was fab - Kylie was amazing but didn't prompt any movement from baby so I reckon if it is a boy then it is not gay as it didn't like Kylie ! Or maybe it just doesn't have my cheesey taste in music . Saw my friend with her 3 month old who is adorable and she has the best ever changing bag ! I just need to convince DP it is a good investment here is a link changing bag

EffiePerine · 30/06/2008 11:42

Turnip: oh no! How frustrating, esp for it to happen on a family-free weekend. Def go back to bed (with a family sized bar of choc and a magazine. Or just the mag if your tummy is still dicky).

Hello Everyone

TurnipHead - so sorry to hear about your weekend. I reckon that pregnant bodies react very violently to even the mildest food-poisoning that non-pregnant bodies can cope with happily. I throw-up if I eat oily or fatty food and that never happens when non-pregnant. I hope you feel better now.

Mibbles - I saw Kylie a few years back. She is fab isn't she.

Verso - if you haven't had any bleeding then I expect the pains are harmless but still very worrying for you. Can you make an appointment at your GPs and just ask they to listen to the heartbeat? I'm sure they would be sympathetic once you explained what has happened.

Chinchi - what a lovely long holiday in Tukey. I lived there for a while as a child and we had a house there throughout my childhood. I love it sooooo much. Whereabouts are your in-laws?

Kayz - sorry to hear about your headaches. I ahve had a few too. Are you drinking lots and gently exercising?

Well I am 30 today! DH took DD and I to a gorgeous hotel in the cotswolds to celebrate for the weekend. DD was an angel. It was a huge manor house with loads of grounds and it was very grand but she insisted on calling it a farm because there were sheep next door. There was a lovely pool which she adored and she learnt to jump in on her own (she is only 22 months!). We took her to a safari park and she was bowled over my all the animals. Each night DH and I had a gorgeous dinner in the dining room with DD asleep in the bedroom and the baby monitor on our table. It was prefect.

DD even slept in each morning, but sadly I did not as she was asleep in the bathroom (so we could get some privacy) and I kept waking at 6am needing the loo - so as not to wake her I had to get dressed and go to the toilets in the main part of the hotel. Oh the joys of being pregnant!

Artichokes happy birthday! Your weekend sounds idyllic! Love the idea of putting DD to sleep in the bathroom, that's never occured to me! Sympathise with your having to trek across the hotel to go the loo though!

Turnip really sorry about your tummy bug. You poor thing, I would have been in tears. Hope you've got some sleep today?

Mibbes Kylie sounds fab! She has achieved so much to get her career back on track following her battles with cancer.

Am supposed to be going out tonight and tomorrow night - we never go out during the week. I am so tired already and it's not even the end of the day yet!

Have tried all the energy boosting things I can think of (porridge, bananas, dried fruit, water, fresh air) and nothing is working.

Just as in my last pregnancy, I can't stomach tea, it just makes me burp for hours and feel really queasy! It's really annoying when I'm knackered! Any other natural energy boosting tips?

kayzisexpecting · 30/06/2008 15:07

Hatty and Artichokes Your holidays sound wonderful. I can't wait for my holiday!!

Artichokes Happy Birthday!!!!!!! I am drinking lots and trying to do as much exercise as I was before. I might get my yoga book out.

Turnip I know what you mean about the March 09 club. My DS was born 20th March 2007 so it feels so wierd that it was 2 years ago it was all starting to happen.

Happy Birthday artichokes your weekend away sounds blissful !

Verso · 30/06/2008 20:06

I would much prefer to just get GP or midwife to listen to HB - I know I don't need a scan - but last time I phoned they were useless. (Last time at EPAU all they did was listen with a doppler anyway.)

M/w appts have to be booked weeks in advance - I almost didn't get my next one, which I was booking FOUR WEEKS AHEAD! So spur-of-the-moment appts are impossible. Ditto GP - and GP doesn't have a doppler anyway... turns out the official line is I have to phone the antenatal unit at the hospital and see if they will see me. I will probably just get a pat on the head - but DH is really stressing about the baby (more than I am, tbh!) and is insisting I get someone to check all is well. I bet I get told off for wasting their time or somesuch...
