Mibbes you could try looking at www.yogascotland.org.uk/teachers_&_classes.htm to see if there's anyone there. Otherwise I'm not sure - the organisation I trained with is based in London as are all its classes. Good luck!

rosmerta · 23/06/2008 19:43

Gettingbigger, just had a sneaky peek at your profile but you're too far from me for your yoga classes . I tried the teacher who I normally have yoga with but she only has one class on at 6pm! I'll try that website & look for someone else.

I'll start a separate thread re meet up, evenings & weekends best for me too!

majormoo · 23/06/2008 20:59

evening all

I am tall too and got some maternity trousers from Dorothy Perkins last time

oh DS woken will have to go and sort him out

rosmerta · 23/06/2008 21:06

London meet up

GettingBiggerBird · 23/06/2008 21:37

Rosmerta, are you in Scotland too? That link was for Yoga Scotland, for England & Wales try www.bwy.org.uk, or I may know somewhere local to you.

rosmerta · 23/06/2008 21:53

GBB, I'm in London but I didn't realise that was for Scotland [dur]! I'm in West London, if you know of anything. In the meantime, I'll have a look a bwy, thanks

katie3677 · 23/06/2008 22:11

Hi all. Have had a pretty traumatic few days with my parents house going up in smoke on friday night. They are staying with me at the moment, plus their three dogs, which is a little stressfull and it looks like they won't be able to move back in until Christmas! I am pestering the insurance company to sort out a mobile home for them, as although I love them very much and moved to the country to be closer to them in case something like this happened, I don't think I can cope wiht them in my tiny house for another 5 months!!!
Anyway, does anyone have any good experiences of over the bump maternity jeans. The ones I have are too loose and I spend my life hoiking them back up, or have to resort to wering braces - not stylish at all!

IceCube · 23/06/2008 22:40

Katie - feel for you, I'm enjoying relaxing lots at the moment and would hate to have a house full to deal with.

On the over the bump jeans, I wonder if they will be ok once the bump gets a bit bigger? I seem to remember a thread a while back where there was a link to some sort of clips which attach the top of the "over bump bit" to the bottom of your bra!! Kind of like braces but not visable, can't remember which web site was selling them though...

EffiePerine · 24/06/2008 06:50

Katie: I loathed all my maternity jeans last time round, none of them stayed up. The under the bump ones were the worst. Maybe go for drawstring trousers or even skirts in the meantime? I'm finding them more comfy than jeans.

Sorry to hear about your parents' house. I would go mad having mine to stay for more than a week! Hope you get something sorted soon. Surely the insurance covers alternative accommodation? In the meantime, make the most of babysitting opportunities

JamInMyWellies · 24/06/2008 08:36

Katie poor you, cant imagine having my parents come live with me actually I can I think I would bein some sort of institution by the end of it.

Oh the eternal maternity jeans issue. I found last time round under the bump ones rubbish but necessary until your bump gets much bigger then over the bump ones are ok.

Am going to give the aquanatal classes at our local pool a go this wk. No idea what they will be like as we only moved to the area a couple of months ago. Would love to do some yoga but not found anything yet.

zoejeanne · 24/06/2008 09:16

Hi, please can I join this thread? I'm new to Mumsnet, but joined because I'm expecting my first (due date Xmas Eve) and looking for tips and advice and people in the same boat as me. I hope everyone is doing well

Ah yes, maternity clothes! I must admit to having a bit of a 'I've got nothing to wear!' hormonally-fuelled strop this morning! I have outgrown all my regular clothes (bar a few tops that were baggy to start with), and am currently in some next-size-up ones that my SIL passed on to me now she is slimmer. Only problem is I seem to wear the same thing all the time! Am thinking of trying a boot sale on Sunday to look for any tunic-style tops & skirts/trousers with elasticated waists - can sometimes get some bargains for 50p/£1! I have got a lovely pair of under the bump maternity jeans from Topshop, which were £40 but worth every penny! They are a very flattering indigo colour, with a panel of buttons inside so you can tighten/loosen them as needed. I thoroughly recommend Topshop on Oxford Street if anybody can get there as they have a whole seperate shop for us pregnant ladies! In fact, we could hold the meet there

Jam I have noticed that we are both in Essex. Whereabouts are you, if you don't mind my asking? Only we may end up with same aquanatal class/teacher, if so I can thoroughly recommend her!

jenduck · 24/06/2008 09:23

PS welcome to Zoejeanne & congratulations on your pregnancy

EffiePerine · 24/06/2008 09:25

Jen: H&M . Stretchy skirts for a tenner, stretchy and long tops 3 for &10, jersey wrap dresses. Have kitted myself out for work

Hello Zoejeanne and welcome to MN . There's a stats list somewhere that you can cut and paste with your details.

JamInMyWellies · 24/06/2008 09:54

Jenduck am bang smack in the middle of witham/braintree.

Zoe welcome to mumsnet sadly it is an addiction and you will find yourself spending a ridiculous amount of time searching active convos.

Really must crack on.

jenduck · 24/06/2008 10:15

Ooh, Jam, you are not too far from me! I go to aquanatal classes in Chelmsford (Riverside) on a Wednesday. Run by Gemma, she is fab!

Rosmerta, here are a few other suggestions for yoga over on the West Side. www.thelifecentre.com/ or any of tthe classes run by this organisation (which I trained with - I think they're great!), though probably a bit out of your way www.sitaram.org/locations/index.html.

Maternity jeans: I've already bored some of you with this but I got some from eBay which are amazingly comfortable and don't slip down even though they are under bump - cheap-ish too. If you search for 'maternity jeans slouch' they should come up, they have lots of pink detail at the back and are very baggy, so depends on what type you like.

Welcome and congratulations Zoejeanne.

hotmama · 24/06/2008 11:28

Hello ladies,

I'm working at home today - so just having a teabreak!

Hi to Zoejeanne.

Got all my maternity stuff out of the loft and have washed it - I shouldn't actually need anything else - as having the 2dd's means I should have the seasons covered - we'll see if I don't buy anything!

Had to soak the stuff I got back from my sister in bleach - she obviously doesn't seperate her whites from her colours - all my white stuff is a nice shade of grey! Tch (annoyed emoticon)

Should get my results this pm - so hopefully will post later to let you know if I am having dd3 or ds1. Quite excited about either!

Catch up with your all soon - hope all is well.

artichokes · 24/06/2008 12:34

Hello All

Welcome to Zoejeanne.

Well my bump has decided to make an appearanc this week. I am in proper maternity clothes and keep getting seats on the Tube! Its all a bit of a shocker at 16 weeks. None of my maternity gear from last time is much good as it is all winter stuff so I have had to buy new stuff. Some of it was quite expensive as I have to wear suits to work and DH is taking me to a very posh hotel this weekend to celebrate my birthday.

I have a headache today. I never really get headaches so I wonder if it is pregnancy related. Anyone else suffering?

xx

zoejeanne · 24/06/2008 13:19

Hi everyone, and thanks for the welcomes - I already feel like part of the gang! As suggested I've added myself into the stats list, at the bottom of this post (but being a bit of a 'puter illiterate, I'm not sure what DC stands for next to everyone's due dates!).

Turniphead1 - hope your appointment goes well today. What are the chances we'll (and all the others due on Christmas Eve) give birth on the same day??? Whenever it is, it'll be my best Christmas present ever!

Thanks to everyone for the hints on maternity clothes too - my bump is just appearing, so I'll be heading into town this week.

Zx

ZoeJ - DC stands for "Darling Child" (a slightly sickly term but one used to refer to exisitng kids). Therefore DC#1 means its the persons first child, DC#2 means it is their second etc etc etc.

mibbes · 24/06/2008 13:46

GBB thanks so much for the info, will have a wee look
WELCOME zoejeanne ! DC is darling child.
Katie surely you can't have your parents there until you have your baby ! Get those insurance people sorted pronto ! I have bought under-bump jeans from red Herring which fall down, and ones with a bit of a band that I need to hoick up so am now rummaging about looking for any non-mat jeans in my wardrobe that still fit ! Managed to get good mat work trousers from Mothercare - they are bliss to wear as my normal trousers were cutting me in half !
oooh hotmama how exciting, look forward to hearing !

hotmama · 24/06/2008 14:33

JamInMyWellies · 24/06/2008 14:33

zoe if you look at the top of the page there is a link to the acronyms where you can see what everything means and then as you get more used to mumsnet you will start saying them in RL (real life) too.
