Hi All

Sorry I have not been on for a few days. Have been bit down as NHS will not give me the cardiac scan that was recommended due to my nuchal result. Anyway we have it all booked privately now, with one of the best fetal medicine doctors in the world so it is probably for the best anway.

Becky - love to hear you sounding so upbeat.

Indith - I bow down to your long posting ability. I will not even attempt it!

Wearymum - welcome!

Mibbles - I hope you are not still worrying about the HB. Like others have said my midwife refuses to even try before 15 weeks as it is so hard.

xxx

EffiePerine · 13/06/2008 20:05

Glad you;ve got the scanned booked and sorted Artichokes. As you say, best to go to the experts (of course, you should be able to get expert care on the NHS )

LadyThompson · 13/06/2008 21:14

Artichokes - really glad to hear you have got the scan booked, that's good.

Twiga · 14/06/2008 10:33

Hi everyone, sorry not been around for a couple of weeks, things have been a bit stressful. Had a really big bleed a couple of Saturdays ago and really thought after all the spotting that was it. However had scan at EPU which showed all well, and have had my booking-in scan since then too which again confirmed all fine. Finally made it past the 12 weeks marker on Friday and it looks like the morning sickness is fading which is fab, although still really don't have much of an appetite. We're currently away chilling out on hol in Jersey and i have to say I've been really grateful for the rest and break from the usual routine what with everything that's been happening. Not had time to read back down but really hope things are ok with everyone - I'll try and have a skim at some point but it's always hard to catch up on so much. Back from hols next week so will get caught up then. Take care x

ive got to try and avoid any hugely waste of money apparatus this time .. i stupidly in a fit of "im def not having any more children" gave away every item of maternity and baby stuff i ever owned after dc3. The only thing i have left is the cotbed and thats because he is still in it!

kayzisexpecting · 15/06/2008 09:30

Morning.

Becky its great to hear from you and I hope you don't spend too long ttc.

Artichokes That is awful that the NHS won't do the scan. I am glad you managed to get a private one booked.

I am seeing the consultant tomorrow and I am kind off hoping he'll try and listen to the heartbeat so I can hear it.

Hope everyone is well.

artichokes · 15/06/2008 19:16

Gosh it has been quiet on this thread this weekend.

Twiga - sorry to hear about your big bleed but I am glad it all looks OK.

Reban - you better get on E-bay! We still have most things thankfully. They have been cluttering up our spare room for months.

Well we have had a good Fathers' Day. DD and I took DH breakfast in bed and we gave him a card she made. Then DD played in our room while we read the papers before we all went out to brunch. DD fell asleep in her pram on the way so DH and I ended up having a lovely adult brunch. I then got some nice maternity clothes and we spent the afternoon at our gym which has a huge sandpit and playground for DD and a gorgeous outdoor pool that I did 50 (very slow) lengths in. Feels so good to exercise as I have been totally sedantry for 3 months.

mibbes · 15/06/2008 22:04

artichokes so glad you have scan all booked and your day today sounds blissful !
kayz good luck tomorrow with heartbeat
Did mt half marathon moonwalk last night so am exhausted - day off work tomorrow though . Hope MW can hear HB at my 16 wk appt on Fri . I got DP a 'dad-to-be' card and some beer from the bump - he was delighted !

EffiePerine · 16/06/2008 06:10

Well done on the half marathon Mibbes! 13 miles . Hope you have a good rest today.

I'm hoping to get some more exercise once the sickness settles down - thought I might start swimming again as our local pool has reopened.

Scan on Tues - fingers crossed. After waiting aooo long, can't believe it's only a day or so away.

JamInMyWellies · 16/06/2008 06:54

Good luck for all the scans today.

13mile walk are yoe mad woman

Lovely lazy day yesterday everyone nt he p.j's till mid aftenoon big roast dinner, and DP spent the day watching sport. We got him mario kart for the Wii - tis v. good fun.

Best go get my little blighter up can hear him chatting to his teddies.

GettingBiggerBird · 16/06/2008 09:56

Hope all the scans are going well - on the subject of which, does anyone know where I can get a private 3D scan in London? I want to get confirmation about whether my twins are sharing a placenta or not, and apparently the only sure way may be a 3D scan. I don't know where to start!
Mibbes - I can't even run to the door, well done.

hattyyellow · 16/06/2008 09:57

Morning all!

Mibbes I am so impressed! Artichokes at you as well with your 50 lengths - there are no pools near us at all and I really miss swimming, especially whilst pregnant - lovely to feel so supported. Glad you got a private scan booked and hope it goes okay.

Twiga such lovely news that it all turned out okay - you must be so relieved! Indith so very impressed at your long post and a homebirth sounds lovely. I unforunately can't have one due to previous c-section and funny blood levels.

We had our nuchal scan on Friday and it all looked great. I've been feeling new waves of nausea all weekend and throwing up most stuff and I could see why at the scan, as little one was very very active, doing loads of somersaults and waving .

Nuchal fold looked great, 1.7 and we just need to wait for blood results on Tuesday now.

Radiographer gave a guess as to sex as well! 60-70% another little girl! Whilst we're delighted to have another daughter and that all is okay and will probably sound crackers - I do feel a bit sad for the son that we will never have. Does that sound really awful and horrible? We really want this little girl (if it is definitely a little girl) but I think we both always vageuly imagined having a son, particulary for DH to do boy things with.

On the other hand, a little girl will probably be less left out by my twin girls than a little boy and I can see them being great friends. Our house will be very pink!

Hope all are well and have the same lovely sunshine as us today

hattyyellow · 16/06/2008 10:02

ps meant to say big waves and hugs becky. Hope to see you on an ante-natal board soon .

Gettingbigger my girls had separate sacs and what looked like separate placentas, they even had the lambda sign between the sacs which is supposed to denote non-id.

However at birth and as they grew they looked so alike we had their DNA tested by the multiple births foundation and they confirmed they were ID.

I'd be interested to know how you get on with the 3D scan and what that reveals. The hospital was so sure it was separate everything that we never looked into it all!

majormoo · 16/06/2008 13:20

congratulations on the great nuchal scan Hatty. Another (maybe) daughter will be lovely

Mibbes well done on the half marathon.

Good luck tomorrow EP.

Not much to report here-had a good weekend but the kids had two late nights so will pay for it later in the week.

hattyyellow · 16/06/2008 13:43

Cheers girls, am having happy visions today of our house being like Little Women ;)!

Having craved carbs massively all morning with nothing in the fridge (working from home) I decided to shoot out at lunchtime. Stocked up on yummy cheese, bread, potato and waldorf salads. Scoffed the lot. Yum.

Only problem is that I have a conference call at 2pm to give a big update on the campaign I'm working on. And my whole body and brain is now digesting the carb-mountain and moaning "sleep, now, sleep, now"!

My notes for this meeting make me laugh - my brain is so sleepy I've literally written an idiot guide to the meeting for every time I might have to speak....Say name, remind where calling from, other participants names are x and y....

It's going to be a struggle!

kayzisexpecting · 16/06/2008 14:53

LOL Hatty that sounds quite funny.

Just got back from my consultant appointment and he found the heartbeat. He did make me promise that because I'm only 14 weeks he may not be able to find it and that I would worry or panic if he couldn't. It was really faint but it was there.

He also said I looked and seemed very healthy. Pah!!! I have no idea why he thought that at all.

OP posts:
kayzisexpecting · 16/06/2008 14:54

Oh and I have lost 3kgs since my booking in appointment. Which was the middle of April which is wierd I think.

OP posts:
IceCube · 16/06/2008 15:59

Kayz - did the midwife make any comment on your weight loss? I was wondering whether I was gaining enough but I guess it's still quite early days.

mibbes · 16/06/2008 16:46

hatty great news about nuchal , we don't get those where I am which is a pain as have to decide whether to have the bloods done on Fri (for DS and spina bifida) even though the accuracy of this test is questionable .

kayz hurray for a heartbeat

I did a mega baby-brain thing today - was en route to visit a friend who recently had a baby and bought a lovely pink piggy bank, photo frame, teddy and pillow - put all the gifts in a 'Baby Girl' bag and as I left the shop I remembered she had had a boy !!! Had to go and change the lot for blue equivalents ! I wish I was showing properly so that I could have blamed 'baby brain' when the assisstant looked at me as if I were mad !
Also another friend has just dropped off a huge bag of maternity clothes - it is like xmas sifting through it all - going to try it on later

reban · 16/06/2008 16:50

im sitting in my office so tired and hungry i could put my head down on my desk and go to sleep! But typical technology im spending all day trying to print out some leaflets that should have taken a couple of hours ... def going to treat myself to a lie in tomorrow!

hattyyellow · 16/06/2008 17:22

Reban I'm so with you with the tired and hungry at work. All I want is to go to bed, having eaten a Macdonalds Cheeseburger . I never normally have Macdonalds - what's wrong with my stomach!

Mibbes laughing out loud at your baby brain!

Kayz great news about the heartbeat and the looking good!

Just had the nervewracking call from the screening centre with my blood test results. Downs came back negative with odds of 1:50,000 - yay! So happy and relieved.

kayzisexpecting · 16/06/2008 17:24

No Icecube No one mentioned it at all. I think its around 16 weeks you start putting weight on.

OP posts:
artichokes · 16/06/2008 18:35

Bloody hell, we are not meant to gain weight 'til 16 weeks??? I gained none 'til a fortnight ago and have since gained 4lbs. That is 2 lbs a week. I am going to be a blimp again, just like last time (except last time I had gained nearly a whole stone by 18 weeks ).
