We completely filled the last thread so I have started a new one!!

I'll have to go get the list.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
EffiePerine · 12/06/2008 15:03

mibbes: I've had them too. Something to do with increased blood flow.

reban · 12/06/2008 20:09

Hi everyone nuchal scan went really well as my results for ds were 1:10800 and for edwards and patau 1: 19000 so feel extremely reassured Just got to put the weird feeling ive felt with this one down to my lovely dermoid cyst .. which the consultant said hasnt grown so i can have keyhole after baby born quite easily.

Also started telling people today (immediate family knew) and broke the news to the kids! Expected my oldest to say "oh no not another one" but she is really excited, and second oldest asked if we can have two, one boy, one girl! I said sorry but there is def only one in there!

Verso · 12/06/2008 20:21

Just a quick post - last night I was at an after-work art thing I go to (run at work) and one of the women there was talking about a colleague of mine. "She's soooo petite though, you'd never know she was pregnant." No - I had no idea, says me, all suitably amazed. Then she pipes up, "of course you've had one already and it always looks worse second time round."

So... back to square one on the body-confidence front. Where's Gok when I need him?!

abbymeg · 12/06/2008 20:43

Verso Sit on her! I should have done that to rude lady at the wedding - that would teach them!

Reban many congratulations on your scan and tests.

kayzisexpecting · 13/06/2008 06:40

Morning.

Verso thats nasty!! Some old bag I used to work with said to me last week "Oh haven't you put on a lot of weight in the last few months" It took all my willpower to not say "I'm pregnant, what's your excuse?"

Reban Congrats on your tests and scan!!

OP posts:
minster · 13/06/2008 08:03

Reban excellent news! Congratulations on the scan and test results.

I had an awful night, I'm convinced something isn't right (can't find hb anymore), scan seems an eternity away & we have to see PIL afterwards. Don't really fancy it if we've just had dreadful news. This pregnancy has been so awful in terms of feeling shit I honestly don't think it would be fair to any of us to do it again

theyoungvisiter · 13/06/2008 09:10

oh minster! Poor you - but do try not to stress, there might be loads of reasons why the hb is hard to find all of a sudden. My mw said she won't even try until 16 weeks because it's so hit and miss.

Do you absolutely have to see your PILs? Could you say we'll try to make it but our scan appointment might run late so we may have to postpone? They so often do run late anyway.

kayzisexpecting · 13/06/2008 09:15

Minster theyoungvisitor is right. Before 16 weeks the heartbeat is so hard to find. Sometimes you can't hear anything. Try not to worry too much if possible.

OP posts:
bunnysgirl · 13/06/2008 10:05

Hello everyone, I have just had my 12 wk scan now dated 13weeks 3 days due on the 16th Dec. Didn't want to post before in case things went wrong. Have been reading everyones threads its very long this one! I am just getting my head around this pregnancy as was earlier than planned, my son is only 10 months old! Am I mad/stupid or both? Open to suggestions! They will be 16months apart! Also had emerg section with son and now will plan VBAC. Any advice?

kayzisexpecting · 13/06/2008 10:10

Hello Bunnysgirl My son is 15 months old and this baby is due 3 months before DS turns 2. So its a similar age gap to yours. I think it will be hard but I also think any age gap will be hard.

At least they will be similar ages so they should get on very well.

OP posts:
chutneymary · 13/06/2008 10:14

Minster, the baby is tiny (about 7cm) so the HB even more so. If you have a placenta on the front or are not super skinny, it is really hard to do before 16-18 weeks. My first MW appt with DD1 didn't even look for one (17 weeks) as the MW said that it might not be audible. I really wouldn't worry. Take care XXXX

LadyThompson · 13/06/2008 11:06

Morning everyone.
Congrats, Reban, that's great news...
Minster, so many people have told me the h/b is hard to find at this stage so do try not to stress (impossible I know)
Verso - how rude! I'd have found it hard not to tell her to go and boil her tactless head, but then I am really grumpy today - I have got swollen ankles. At nearly 16 weeks!! I'm still a size 12 and a bit of a podgy one, but I wouldn't have expected elephant ankles yet. I feel a bit dizzy as well. Oh lawks, I am going to feel like this for the next five months? This is what you get for escaping morning sickness - something else comes and bites you on the bum further down the line! Any tips on helping swollen ankles? Can't really put my feet up at work and it's a bit hot for support tights....

snowwombat · 13/06/2008 12:51

hi girls, sorry not to be on for a while and now posting a 'me me me' thread. I will catch up properly with the thread next week I hope, but just to say how very sorry I was to hear your news southernbelle
We are packing up and moving to Australia on Sunday, hence a little manic with finishing work, packing up two houses and the bump giving us a big scare by producing very elevated AfP at the triple test and requiring a consultant scan. Thankfully they got us in very promptly (this may be my only benefit of working for the NHS ). The bump completely unpertubed by the chaos and waved! Neural tube, brain and abdomen intact but will need some more monitoring through the pregnancy.
Just wondering if anyone has a brand of support tights or opinion on whether knee high or full tights would be better for this long haul to sydney? Thanks for your help girls and looking forward to more regular posting once we have somewhere to live!Take care of yourselves and your bumps xx

kayzisexpecting · 13/06/2008 13:02

Sorry you had a scare Snowwombat I think Boots sell those support tights. I hope the move goes well and I'll look forward to hearing from you when you get settled in!

OP posts:
abbymeg · 13/06/2008 13:32

Minster I read that with HB it can be found at 10-12 weeks, if you're lucky. It can be difficult if the baby is in an awkward position, or the placenta is in the way, or there are "excess layers of maternal fat". Tried with a doppler yesterday (12+4), but didn't really get anything; then, my poor baby has several layers of fat to contend with . Probably won't hear it until much later on! Plus, when everything is whooshing about in there, it's difficult to tell what's what - and they're small enough to run away still! I really wouldn't worry, although I know it's disheartening, as I wanted the reassurance too. The fact that we can get our hands on these technologies sometimes does us no favours! Plus, if you've been feeling rough, that is a good sign.

JamInMyWellies · 13/06/2008 13:41

Good luck snowombat. I wore reg flight socks from boots when preg with DS.

The HB is v.v. hard to find at this stage even if you are a midwife. Please try not to worry.

Congrats on the latest scans girls.

My son will be 17mth when this one is due so we can all come on here and panic discuss how easy it is.

Indith · 13/06/2008 14:15

Hello! Have not stopped recently and MN has fallen to the side a bit . My bump is getting scarily large compared to this time 2 years ago I blame ds for stealing my tummy muscles. My mother is getting worried about making my wedding dress! Anyway I am off to catch up (with paper and pen, has been that long!)

wearymum200 · 13/06/2008 15:01

Minster hope you feel better. Sympathy++
May i join this thread, due date 9/12 and feeling fat!

Indith · 13/06/2008 15:03

Right, apologies if I lose my way during this!

Hello to the new ones (LT, Reban, Bunny. gettingbigger...twins!)

So sorry to those we have lost (dynamo, Southern, fruitbowl)

Jam I hope the birthday party was fun, a whole year old!

Clothes. I have either normal jeans with elastic bamd holding them together (though getting to stage where gap so wide zip doesn't really do up!) or maternity jeans (I love New Look for them, nothing else just mat jeans!) which I need a belt with and have to turn the elastic down because they are still too big. Can I not just grow a bit more!

Am deeply of the norks. Mine are a 32C and very saggy and empty and horrible. I don't do putting weight on at all (don't be it is a pain in the arse)so have in no way put back any fat after bf. They are wrinkled and minging and the nipples look like cherries that have slid down the icing on a bun, like a mini landslide with the areola all wrinkled underneath them. Anyway you might be able to tell that I hate my norks at the moment and cannot wait for them to fill out a bit and to start producing milk again so they have some substance to them!

Food, dp hates it at the moment as I never know what I want, or if I do it is something fresh and light like a seafood pasta or a warm salad. I keep telling him off if he cooks stodge and he does love his risotto etc.

Hatty and others due around Christmas. Not that I expect mine to arrive around Christmas as ds went to 42 weeks but I'm just solving the problem by having another homebirth. If it all goes wrong I'm sure someone will be willing to watch ds at the last minute.

Pickles!

Bisou with your list updating. I can't be arsed to move (scan says 20th, I say 24th, MW said 26th so 24th looks like a happy medium to me!) But of those you were asking about Sureitsno3 came out so to speak on her other thread and is not pg as far as I know.

Jen I did aquanatal with ds and it is fab. Hoping to go again this time around as dp tends to work from home on the day it is on so has offered to take a break and watch ds so I can go. Wonderful man

Arti sorry your results were worrying. At least you can be secure that the Drs are aware of potential problems so anything can be caught at the earliest possible time. I know that isn't much help.

Hotmama glad for you re your results.

Rosmerta glad the sleep has improved. I know how horrible it is when it is bad especially with study too. On that front I hope it is all going well and evil long study days are not too bad

Abby glad you enjoyed the wedding

All those women who make evil bump related comments should be squished. Grr. Bumps are beautiful.

Congrats to all those still bf. Am rather I must admit. Ds self weaned at around 13 months and I was very sad about it. I seem to miss it more now that I am pg, almost to the point of craving it at times.

Good news on the chocolate front

I get headaches too and don't think I drink enought water sometimes. Am trying to increase my intake but it is so hard as I still have a constant funny taste in my mouth and water seems to make it worse but my teeth get very sensitive if I drink soft drinks.

Think that is it!

Bisou · 13/06/2008 15:11

Hi everyone. southernbelle I was so sad to hear your news If you're still reading this, I send my best wishes to you.

snowwombat good luck with the flight to Australia. I did it a couple of weeks ago - who are you flying with? Make sure to take some proof of your pregnancy with you as you can ask to be put in the bulkhead row (they don't allocate these seats till check in) and there is a bit more leg room with these seats. Only thing is the arm rests don't move, so if you're on an empty flight with no one next to you there's no chance of stretching out over 4 seats (which some people were doing in other rows of the flight from Hong Kong lucky buggers). I would also advise taking some extra food as I found myself getting hungry and just craving a snack now and then - especially something fresh like a piece of fruit. I wore flight socks too, my mum got them for me some time ago in Australia - they're medical ones I think. Good luck with it all, you'll be fine! I've got a booking in appointment on Monday at the Randwick Royal Hospital for Women, they seem very well organised. You have to be in their catchment area though to be able to book in, it might be worth checking this with your hospital of your choice before you find a new place to live if it is important to you where you book in.

minster I'm sorry you're feeling worried about not finding the heartbeat. I've been wanting to buy a doppler myself as I just find it so difficult waiting for the time till I can actually feel the bub in there. It's so hard not to get stressed and think that something may have gone wrong, especially when you've had a bad experience before, so I do sympathise. Try to keep your spirits up, chances are it's all good in there - it's probably just jumping around like mine did when I had my nuchal scan. It took a while for it to stay still so the sonographer could do the measurements!

Bisou · 13/06/2008 15:24

Wow Indith, lovely long post! Thanks for letting us know about sureitsno3 too, I was wondering how she was doing. The list often needs updating anyway, so if you change your mind about your due date just let us know! Ironically I'm now supposedly due on the 11th not the 12th, but I can't be bothered changing myself either, I'm already all snuggled up on the 12th with fishnchips Jackstini and kayz ! ;)

Welcome to bunnysgirl, reban and GettingBiggerBird - gemenaux are you still with us too? I seem to remember you were having twins too!

I am now a 36DD!!!
I have never, ever been this big before (usually 36 B if I'm lucky) and my mahoosive boobs are actually scaring me when I wake up and look down!

oh well done Turniphead! Was just wondering who was going to be brave enough to trawl through and do all the updating.

[round of applause]

BeckyBendyLegs · 13/06/2008 18:40

Boo everyone! Remember me? It's great to see you are all doing so well and worrying about the size of your boobs . I'm now at the stage of waiting for my AF so I can start again and have another monthly bonk fest on the TTC bandwaggon! Keep smiling guys .
