southernbelle I'm really sorry to hear your news. The m/c thread is a great source of comfort and support - they really helped me. Look after yourself and take your time to come to terms with what's happened. (((hugs)))

pixsix · 12/06/2008 10:16

Best wishes southernbelle I'm so sorry.

minster · 12/06/2008 10:21

I've just booked my scan - next Thursday, I'll be 12+4 - I'm shittng myself but we've managed to find childcare so I don't have to go on my own.

theyoungvisiter · 12/06/2008 10:27

southernbelle so sorry to hear your news, please take care of yourself.

Good luck with your scan Minster

LadyThompson · 12/06/2008 10:41

Southernbelle, still thinking about you... Reban, let us know how the scan goes today.

pixsix · 12/06/2008 10:43

I have my second appointment with the midwife today. I'm 14 + 4. Does anyone know what happens at this appointment? I'm not sure what to expect....

GettingBiggerBird · 12/06/2008 11:02

Hope everyone else is OK today, I'm feeling really reassured after my scan this morning - both little blighters are still there, nuchal was fine for each so I can relax a bit. They were bouncing off each other and gesticulating wildly.

In celebration, I am wearing a top which shows my bump though I'm sure everyone at work will still be too scared to ask.
Looks like my twins might be identical, which is cute but also a little creepy!

On the topic of full bladders, my scanner let me empty mine just before my scan then wished she hadn't - so I'd recommend the 'comfortably full' option.

GettingBiggerBird · 12/06/2008 11:03

Sorry Pixsix, no idea about what happens at a 14-week visit though.

EffiePerine · 12/06/2008 11:13

GBB: glad you had a good scan. Must be weird seeing two of them! Mine is on Tuesday, so not long to go now.

Good luck for next Thurs minster .

Artichokes: I saw your other thread re scans and CVS, did you get some more info?

GettingBiggerBird · 12/06/2008 11:16

Effie: yes, weird but good. Where's Artichokes other thread, I might be able to join in, I had a CVS in an earlier pregnancy.

Good luck with everyone's scans...

EffiePerine · 12/06/2008 11:31

I think it's in Pregnancy - say it earlier this morning (but have no experience)

GettingBiggerBird · 12/06/2008 12:09

Effie: Found it - way out of my league too! Sorry Artichokes.

kayzisexpecting · 12/06/2008 13:14

Thats great GBB. Identical twins awwww how cute!!

Pixsix, the 14 week check up is normally just a normal check up. They check your urine, don't normally take blood, somtimes listen to the heartbeat but some midwife's only try after 16 weeks and the may measure your fundal height.

Hello all,

I'm back and hayfever is under control. I rang the surgery yesterday and asked to speak with a Dr as I ws at work (just not the one who told me to grin and bear it). She prescribed a nasal spray and eyedrops and I feel like a new woman today!!!

Am getting bigger by the minute though......although not enough for anyone to notice as I had to stand on the train for 40 mins on the way home from work. It was so muggy and sweaty I thought I was going to be sick!!!

pixsix · 12/06/2008 13:39

Congrats GBB!

Thanks kayz, you were right, she tested my wee, took my blood pressure, felt my tummy and listened to the baby's heartbeat. Was great to hear the hb pounding away so fast! Yay!

Hope everyone is ok.

theyoungvisiter · 12/06/2008 13:40

ok - I have a non-pregnancy related problem today - I have a horrible stinking cold and it's made me go deaf in one ear - I have a buzzing sound like bad tinnitus in one ear and can't hear anything!

Help - how do I make it go away?! Any home remedies? It helps slightly when I yawn but then it comes back as soon as I stop.

Arg, it's driving me mad!!!!!!!!!!!

kayzisexpecting · 12/06/2008 13:43

I think if you hold your nose and your breath and then try to blow it can unblock them.

OP posts:
theyoungvisiter · 12/06/2008 13:45

Oh kayz - I did try that - it gave me a searing pain in my ear and then the deafness came back!

Shall I try again? It seriously felt like I was going to rupture an eardrum though.

I do get blocked ears a lot on aeroplanes and that normally cures it - but not this time - arg!

kayzisexpecting · 12/06/2008 13:47

Thats the only thing I can think off. Soemtimes if I have it when I swallow it goes but normally only for a while.

OP posts:
EffiePerine · 12/06/2008 13:56

yv: olive oil drops. You can use normal kitchen stuff. Warm it slightly. lie down with ear upwards, then put 4-5 drops in and leave for a few mins. Repeat twice a day. If it doesn't improve after a week, go to the nurse and get it syringed.

Olipop · 12/06/2008 14:05

Hi everyone..
Welcome Reban - good luck with the scan.
Oh Visitor I had that a while ago and it is so annoying...you feel like you are in a bubble!
I've just got home from work (only did 1 1/2 days this week as opposed to my usual 2!) as I have my booking in appointment at 3pm. I really really hope they do a heartbeat listen as I am going on holiday on Wednesday next week so can't imagine that they will be able to fit a scan in before then and would love to have some reassurance before I go away.... I'm just so wretchedly paranoid...

mibbes · 12/06/2008 14:44

Southernbelle so sorry hun , I hope the ladies on the mc thread can help you through this difficult time.

I had a nosebleed this morning - anyone else had this as a pregnancy symptom ? A friend of mine used to get them when she was pregnant - very strange !
